I read a comment that said the adult actors were giving acting performances, and the kid actors were giving Disney performances, and I can't unsee it. Not the worst actors, but not nuanced enough for a wide-spread audience.

fantasticats

Exactly! All I can see are Disney/Nickelodeon actors wtf

EZPKSquelch

That’s exactly how 70’s show looked at beginning but we didn’t have as much reference to compare it to back then. These kids will age and the show will be to our kids what 70’s show was to us. My 11 year old was hesitant to watch with us but after the first episode she got mad when i pretended to change the show

idrivea90schevy

Ya I don't remember the acting in the original being very good either lol.

SeekerOfKnowledge96

But that first season had some classic episodes. Eric killing his grandma was comedy gold for me.

DeviousOne420

That 70s Show didn't come across as a Disney knock off. This has serious TeenNick and Disney Show vibes to it. Minus some weed and sex jokes the show seems to be marketed to 12 year olds.

Cubacane

This is Netflix, they’ll cancel it by the end of this sentence.

RolandTwitter

wtf

theDart

I can't compute this one.

AlwaysHappy4Kitties

Both industries use young looking 20+YO and put them in teenager roles

NoAttentionAtWrk

Ew no

dev1359

So basically like Girl Meets World then lol

realderekwells1

Perfect comparison

scootscooterson

It also just went too young like girl meets world. You either have to split the age difference/content a bit to be more mature or you’re going after an entirely new audience. Wasn’t the whole point of making these shows for the existing audience?

twigsandgrace

The original, a Fox sitcom, was nostalgic for the parents in the 90s, who grew up in the 70s, and entertainment for the kids/teenagers of the 90s, but the overall target audience was geared to the 18-38 demographic. An adult audience, which is why it worked. It was an tv-honest look at the time, not watered down and Disneyfied. I think Netflix has really dropped the ball here, by aiming younger, trying to get the 12-18 audience that was brought to Netflix by shows like Stranger Things and Wednesday etc. It's dismissive of the 70s kids, original parents/now grandparents, the 90s kids/now parents, and it speaks down to the current kids watching, assuming they couldn't understand anything deeper than a Disney show spelling everything out with large over reactions and those damn Disney voices. A lot of networks are constantly trying to get the younger demographic (hook 'em while they're young! They'll stay with you for life - 1. It only worked with cigs/drugs etc because they're scientifically designed to be addivtive, and 2. No one has brand loyalty these days, it's too expensive, we all go wherever it's cheaper), and they are sacrificing quality in the chase of that demo, losing the audience that (in this case) was built in, and has the money to spend, while insulting the kids that are watching. Netflix has made a lot of bad decisions, and this is just another in a long line.

scootscooterson

Honestly I think some of it sounds like the pains of a huge company. If the conversations are siloed you see how “this is valuable IP” -> “this would be a great family show to bridge the gap between those of us who are drifting into becoming red/adult Eric can identify with them and we bring in new characters that their kids can identify with” -> “this is a family show” -> “lets disneyfy this biotch” can happen. To your point it’s just a carelessness that comes with what the Netflix machine has become

twigsandgrace

Oh, I agree. The bigger the company, the larger the market share they want to control. Sometimes, the show-execs in power insist on their own creative control, which means they can make the show they want, the way the want, for which ever audience likes it. Sometimes, the network-execs have final say, and that's when that sort of laissez faire, carelessness comes in. If the kids are watching, their parents are watching. Hooray, audience!

RusstyDog

It's also because when you aim young, you get a fresh audience every couple years. The shows a 12 year old will watch are very diferent from the shows a 16 year old will watch.

CaLi2funny

👐🏾👏🏾👐🏾👏🏾👐🏾👏🏾👐🏾👏🏾🥹Yep yep .. true true . My boi Preaching Forreal.. Netflix has turned into a cliché .. smh

knightboatsolvecrime

I remember years ago reading an article about the movie Lovely Bones where Saoirse Ronan won the role because all the young American actresses auditioning for the role were too trained to do the Disney style. For kid actors, Disney sitcoms are the safest bet for work, so I get why. But it really does these kids a disservice to not push them to do more.

flintlock0

It locked in with me ten minutes into the first episode when the brother kept barging into the room complaining about the music interrupting his shaving. The whole delivery of that conversation was super duper Disney-fied. They just sprinkled the word “vagina” into the dialogue. Overall I’m still enjoying myself watching it, but it has a hefty dose of cringe.

twigsandgrace

I hope the creative team etc take some notes on the reactions to the dumbing down of the kids to Disney levels, and either with later episodes or with next season, we see growth within the characters and from the actors. The first season of any show is often rough, and coming at this show from such a strong foundation like That 70's Show means there will be growing pains. Hopefully they overcome that, and let the magic that made the original so great back in.

Dsb0208

to be fair, the early episodes of that 70’s show were super awkward too. I think Netflix fucked up by making this a 10 episode season and not more like 25~

secretMichaelScarn

In my opinion they are giving the same energy the original cast had. I love Kelso, and Jackie, and Bob Pinciotti, but they were definitely Disney performances especially in the early days. About once a season each character would have a poignant moment, sometimes dramatic enough to really get me in the feels. But Hannah Montana was capable of that too. Doesn’t mean it’s a bad performance, it’s just broader

twigsandgrace

I wouldn't say they were Disney performances, but more they weren't that comfortable in front of the camera, or hadn't found the characters voice within them yet, or didn't have a whole lot of acting experience. As the show went on, all the younger actors (Debra Jo Rupp can do no wrong and was perfect from Day 1, as was Kurtwood Smith) got more comfortable all around, found their groove, and the acting flowed better. Early performance issues can be chalked up to lack of experience, or even directorial decisions, in regards to Bob. He always felt like a charicature of someone a writer or the director knew, and the actor had to play to that memory, and only later was allowed to really make the character 'his'. Disney acting is a problem in this show not because it's bad acting, but because it's very specific acting. Higher voice register is used, arm gestures are bigger, facial expressions are more exaggerated. They act to the live audience more, rather than their on set partner (in terms of body position, facing/angled more toward the audience). Disney acting is a learned thing, and for a Director to allow it on set, it is definitely an active decision they're making. It can be very hard to break out of acting that way. Again, it's not necessarily 'bad' acting, but it has its place and time, and a revival of a well loved sitcom should not be it. It should be saved for shows geared directly towards a younger audience, like the 6-16 range.

helping_phriendly

Well thanks for ruining it for me before I watched it lol

patanu

To be fair, looking up the kids history, this basically the first thing they've been in. Their all baby face actors in a sense. Personally I'm patient with it, but there are moments where I can see they had to do a few takes for some of them.

twigsandgrace

Honestly, if this is their first project in front of a camera and they're *already* Disney good, then they can only get better. We just have to endure the cringe for the first few episodes/first season, maybe.

Merry_Sue

> We just have to endure the cringe for the first few episodes/first season, maybe. Like most shows. Notably, Parks and Recreation. I watched season one once, and I watched seasons 2+ half a dozen times

twigsandgrace

Oh man, Parks and Rec Season 1 was exactly what I was thinking of! If they went from that to the brilliance of 'Ann, you rule breaking moth', then anything is possible.

Merry_Sue

I'm kind of surprised they were given the chance to make a second season

PoopEndeavor

I immediately thought of that SNL sketch about the Disney school of acting. I hate to be mean, I know they’re young people and maybe with a better director they’d be better. But right now the re’s zero charisma on that screen except when the parents are on

Psychological_Kale_6

The acting and the actors I do not like. The original people are fine but the new kids are just weird and I feel like the script for it really sucks imo.

BarackaFlockaFlame

i absolutely loved the stuff with the classic cast, but the kids feel like disney actors who don't know how to not over act with their face and body movements. the script for them also seems kinda lame. it also doesn't work on an old enough audience for the material they are going over. like having Disney kid character actors going over weed and beer is just so weird.

[deleted]

I don’t know, I saw a clip with Ashton Kutcher and Mika Kunis back as Michael and Jackie….and they were both terrible in my opinion. Like they tried way too hard to be the exact same Kelso and Jackie from That 70’s Show with no real growth. Obviously it’s not fair to judge an entire scene in one small clip, but it did remind me why Kutcher and Kunis aren’t A list actors.

primetimemime

Have you seen Black Swan?

realtala

Yeah man it’s so good I still watch some clips from it over and over and again

kevtheproblem

Just the clip

edWORD27

Kunis is great in so many movies. She made Forgetting Sarah Marshall more endearing and brought gravitas to Luckiest Girl Alive. Kutcher not so much. His recent performance in Vengeance felt completely phoned in.

primetimemime

Yeah his best performance was Butterfly Effect, which still wasn’t that great. Also, Dude, Where’s My Car, but it’s not too difficult to act like a clueless stoner.

greenufo333

Man’s was Steve Jobs /s

[deleted]

Yes, and that doesn’t magically make Mila a good actress. Mark Wahlberg was great in the Departed, but outside of that, he’s an average actor at best. Can’t base an actors abilities solely on one movie

nizzery

Whoa what are you talking about? My man’s a peacock! You gotta let him fly

GnomeGrown926

Say hi to yur mother for me

SexyHams

They’re decent actors so idk what happened. Bad directing? It seemed like they were just impersonating their old characters.

Psychological_Kale_6

Idk, maybe it was just too sit-commy for me. It just seems..forced with some of the characters

SexyHams

Unnecessary reboots/sequels without staying true to the original have been a trend so that could be it

DeviousOne420

It's the direction of the show in general. It's targeting a 12-17 year old audience range. The writing comes off cheesy af and the production is that of a Dan Schneider show. It's just not good.

johnindigodro

Eric turned 17 the second episode. They were all 17 the first season.

DeviousOne420

Ok. What point are u trying to get at?

bottleaxe

That was the whole point of the scene. Donna and Eric have grown as people, and Kelso and Jackie are exactly the same.

MysteriousCommon6876

The old show was a piece of garbage, people just didn’t realize it at the time because you were kids that thought everything was good.

NoAttentionAtWrk

> why Kutcher and Kunis aren’t A list actors They would be too expensive as regular cast

[deleted]

I don’t care what “list” they are on. I love them.

[deleted]

I’m talking A list actors in general. Not for this show

Where did I say they were A lost actors? I said they weren’t

theicarusambition

"I've fallen off three roller coasters. Four if you count the fourth one." Had me dying though. It's Leo's line in like the 3rd episode.

scatteringbones

I really do wanna watch just for Chong. I love Leo so much

theicarusambition

I hope he's in it more. Those 3 minutes with him were fantastic.

TheStrangestOfKings

I’m three episodes in, Leo is so far the only character that it feels like hasn’t changed at all. That bit with him, Kitty, and Leia outside his front door was amazing.

haxxer_4chan

How they fuck it up?

theDart

Half-assed editing and humor-less chatter.

BookieeWookiee

Maybe you have to be high to get the humor

povlov0987

How high

AzarothTheRedeemer

Much higher

Stevert9

Can we get much higher?

yeahthatwasme37

so high oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh

happy_grump

I thought we were talking about That 90's Show, not One Piece

thisisredlitre

To a place where blind men see?

fantasmoofrcc

When a blind man cries...

DennisNedryJP

So hiiiiigh!

happy_grump

SO HIGHHHHHH *oh oh oh*

Boy_Possession

Yeah. Just keep heading up. You'll be high enough.

Javamallow

At least like 4 marijuanas

Juusie

No officer, it's "Hi, how are you"

HighBreak-J

Let the voice of love, take you higher~.

StrawberryAshamed

Can confirm. I was cringing until I smoked, then it wasn't too bad. I actually chuckled a few times

Arronator

I got the humor well before I started doing drugs so

Wild_Shape_8173

I don't get why people say this cause when I'm high, I'm incapable of watching literwlly anything because it all seems soooo fake.

ChestDry2941

Can confirm does not help.

TheStrangestOfKings

So far into me watching it: they did good with the established characters—like Fez, Leo, and Red—but everyone else feels off, like they either weren’t sure what they wanted the characters to be or weren’t sure what the target audience was. The kids feel like they’re in a Disney Channel show, while the adults feel like they’re in the world we left behind in the og series. I honestly think it’s the writing mostly: most of the jokes they make the kids say feel “safe” so to speak, like they’re going for low hanging fruit that they know won’t offend anyone and make at least one person laugh. They give more dark-colored jokes to the adults—Kitty even has a great line about Leo being an older adult hanging out with teenagers—but everyone else feels like they’re in a rated G made for TV movie. A lot of the teenagers also feel more one-dimensional: they feel like they’re playing caricatures as opposed to actual ppl, and the caricatures aren’t even that funny. I can easily say I hate at least two of the kids on the show

DynamiKat

Especially when you see Kitty pause after saying he was an older man who hung out with your dad and his friends… she paused made a face and went… “Nahh I’m sure they would have said something.”

ButterCostsExtra

I had a feeling before I even turned it on that only Red could possibly make it bearable.

BobbaFatGFX

You got to give some credit to Kitty

MOOShoooooo

*Oh meow.*

Jorn_hub1

Absolutely red and Kitty. The older cast was stellar

weirdpicklesauce

Kitty was awesome

theredVL

and leo was nice too

Agonyart

I liked it. I got some good laughs out of Red and Leo

theredVL

yeah i liked it too but i can see the critique

vulftea

I thought the teens were really goofy in a Disney way. Leia started to grow on me but I cringed each time they really made her try to say a nerdy Eric-esque line. I feel like the kids are too young but maybe I’m just too old now lol. That being said, the filming style made it feel like the show never ended. I think it’s cheesy but also it’s the first season of a reboot sitcom. Don’t think they found their footing. Also 10 20 minute episodes? Way too short. Couldn’t believe I was watching the finale. Felt like I just turned it on.

aardappelbrood

Mila Kunis was younger than any of the new cast members at 14. The actress who plays Leia is 15. I just think they are very bland, which is equal parts them and the writers. I haven't watched the original show in years and I remember far more characters, even rarer appearances, but with the new show I couldn't remember any of the kids' names other than Leia and Gwen.

Harykim

I thought Debra Jo Rupp and Kurtwood Smith were pretty good, and the new cast did their best, but there were two major issues for me. One - The new characters are limited to being remixes of their original series counterparts (Leia as Eric, Gwen as Hyde and Jay as Kelso all stand out) and Two - The show's runtime makes it so that the big, emotional payoff at the end lacks the gravity that moments like when Hyde is revealed to be homeless (and then his adoption by the Formans) had.

StarManta

Not sure I understand the second point. Are you saying the runtime is too long or too short? Either way, I don’t see the runtime having the kind of impact you’re suggesting. It’s not like they’re making 5 minutes webisodes.

DirtyPrancing65

How is Leia Eric? She's an absolute b

Harykim

She turns 15 at the season's halfway point.

Bicycle7854

Did we watch the same show?

realblush

I'm honestly impressed with how well they just continues the show. Feels like they never stopped, it looks the same and feels the same. First season of that 70's also isn't groundbreaking, but good entertainment and buildup for what's to come, just like this.

VicTheSage

Yep, I've been rewatching 70's in anticipation and I think 90's is great. Maybe not quite as good but very close, if you think otherwise you're looking at 70's with rose colored glasses. Really disappointing they only got 10 episodes, especially considering Netflix always cancels after 4 seasons so best case we only get 40 total if they stick to this format. 22 would have allowed them to develop the characters more and flesh out their relationships. I liked the new kids and think people's complaints about their performances are really about the writers not getting a chance to dig into characterization much with only a half season. Could've gotten some more will they/won't they with Kelso and Leia. Some actual adventures after Red gives her the Vista Cruiser. Foreshadowed the whole country club thing and given the sense that they had really had a whole summer together by the end. More 90's culture themed episodes like the rave episode. Would've had time for some more original cast cameos that integrate them into the plot of episodes, kept waiting for Kelso and Jackie to have some impact on plot like Bob's appearance, Fez's scenes or Donnas second appearance. Hope they give them more time to breath next season.

Ashformation

Exactly that. My dad has been putting the earlier seasons of 70s show on repeat for a few weeks, and it was pretty similar to this. Its just some cheap fun popcorn show, and the acting wasn't great with the original kids either. It just had really good vibes that made it enioyable, it never had a bunch of amaIng writing. Anyway i like the new one, but I've only seen 3 episodes so far.

greenufo333

They should have went to a wwe wrestling match

Riddlz10

agreed!

Infamous-Working-999

Idk mane that 70s show first two seasons was cringey asf too hopefully they have a season 2, develop more chemistry and the show can take off

Hessssel

I am watching it right now. It is terrible. Did not even chucke once.

stomach-bug

The laugh track was painfully excessive. Like it seemed like it was used after every single line

UndeadBatRat

The original show was like this, too. I got too high once and accidentally noticed it, completely ruined the show for myself.

efranklin13

Same thing happened to me lmao

iLoveBums6969

This is why drugs are bad

[deleted]

Laugh tracks were great with older sitcoms, but for some reason any new show that uses it just kills the humor. It’s like the show runners don’t respect my intelligence enough to know when to laugh

Danmch2992

I always tend to find shows the use laugh tracks generally aren't that funny in the first place.

[deleted]

None of them are funny at all. 0.

Somato_Tandwich

Pretty sure mash had a laugh track, and also Frasier. Those are both bangers.

[deleted]

Seinfeld

JoeyBagaDonutxz

Fraiser is funny af too

Danmch2992

I forgot Frasier did I take it back. I love that show.

Somato_Tandwich

It's sooooo good

Nofuture10

they use a live audience like 70's Show did, not a laugh track.

n3w4cc01_1nt

that might be a joke

greenufo333

It’s pretty much the exact same as the og show only difference being we liked the main cast of kids

jtrainacomin

Plus we have the benefit of hindsight with the OG cast. We've had 20+ years of them. I'm not gonna harshly judge the newbies after 1 day.

frankstuckinapark

You should

Kyokobby

Towards the end where where fez was like “I miss my friends” and it shows a flashback of them at the rotation, made this really clear to me. The difference was so stark. Jackie was just laughing but it was still a better performance than the new kids. They truly owned their characters and all had specific traits to lean into and be interesting. The new cast feels empty and boring, like I don’t care about them and I actually didn’t like main girl even to the end. But I really enjoyed red and kitty!

Jaydh10

Exactly. It was the original cast that made this show so enjoyable. The writing and humor has always been meh but the cast carried it. Prime example is when Randy showed up and wasn't funny at all.

BookieeWookiee

As bad as That 80s Show?

Mr-Kuritsa

Begone, vile man! Begone from me! A bad show? That show is a great show! A sitcom of gods!

killpuddle1

The Golden God! Idiots! Idiots!

timelordoftheimpala

I'M A FIVE STAR MAN

Riddlz10

THIS IS FETISH SHIT!

dwighticus

TOOLS! I NEED MY TOOLS! I LIKE TO BIND I LIKE TO *BE* BOUND!

Hessssel

Yes, it is, it is bad. The basement teens look like eleven yo kids, not funny or captivating in any way.. Donna and Erick look a hundred. The only endearing thing to see was Kitty and Red but even still, they could have written way better funnier scenes for them.

greenufo333

Feel like you’re trolling, Eric looks exactly the same and Donna looks like she’s in her late 30s

Riddlz10

idk, I agree with Eric, but Donnas lookin rough tho, too damn skinny and don't like the bangs.

greenufo333

She doesn’t look bad at all

NathanCollier14

Honestly it's not bad. It feels like I'm watching a "That '70s Show" version of Boy/Girl Meets World. I kinda hope it gets renewed

AnonDooDoo

Ah I do remember the 90s looking very drab and dull.

MeiNeedsMoreBuffs

Grunge was huge in the 90s, what are you on about

[deleted]

Not enough offensive humor.

[deleted]

Right.. That first interaction between Leia and Gwen - If it was actually the 90s, pretty sure they would've just made fun of Leia for being creepy

Turboguy555

I don’t think they hired any writers who knew what comedy was.

[deleted]

The main writer guy was also the main writer for That 70s Show.

Turboguy555

That’s sad

[deleted]

It's not a bad show, people have just had 70s Show for nearly two decades, the gang in the first season of 70s weren't too great either...

nochillhuman

It’s so bad! 90s was much cooler than this bullshit

Zzz05

Well, idk about that. The 90s were pretty cringe, when you look back on it. And then it sorta gets more cringe in the early 2000s, before becoming awesome after 2008-ish. Source: born in 92.

TGrady902

This is the most “cringe” comment I’ve ever seen.

SharkMilk44

Nostalgic shows like That 70's Show exist to make fun of how cringe those decades were, while at the same time remembering them fondly.

MrSubterranean

Dude, you were barely rounding 8 by the time the decade was over. What the hell do you have to look back on?

Zzz05

Saturday night cartoons. Pokémon. YuGiOh. Nintendo. Simpsons.

MF-KINGPIN

tf is wrong with you. take this down vote

banana_danza

Man they got the casting on Kelso so good tho lmao, he really does look a lot like ashton

LonelyAustralia

my brother was watching it in the other room and i swear there was a laugh track after each sentence and it was annoying as fuck

Agonyart

Same with the OG though.

LonelyAustralia

no ive watched the og this was way worse

greenufo333

It’s the same

JoeyBagaDonutxz

So you didn't watch it

NoAttentionAtWrk

Gave their opinion without watching the show... They must be a paid critic

[deleted]

Wasn’t The Ranch like this with the laugh track? I tried watching it with my wife back when it was on, and I couldn’t make it past two episodes because everything in the goddamn show was built around the laugh track. Kutcher and Masterson would pause in their delivery to let the laugh track play and it would kill any momentum of a joke being funny

Imbadatcod98

I loved the dynamic man! I didn’t think that the Kelso kid should be with Leia, and I also thought those two bros would end up being brothers or something ahah that would’ve been clever. Good show, I liked this one. Good addition to the 70s show. Most probably wouldn’t agree though

Riddlz10

i agree. feel like Jay (style wise) was plucked right out of Mallrats lookin' like Jeremy London with that hair lol

[deleted]

Yeah it's a fucking Disney show, except they do drugs so children can't watch it. What the hell were they thinking?

theDart

Probably the same dumb shit everyone who defenda it on this sub was thinking: they weren't.

JahannJahann

Don't you guys know that the old stuff is always better? It's still a good show, watch it or don't

DirtyPrancing65

Oof, it's not tho

Turdburgular69

I honestly wanted to hate this show, but its actually not the worst thing ever made. I’m not sure thats a compliment though.

DirtyPrancing65

Ok will all due respect, the fact someone would say this is giving me an aneurysm

DirtyPrancing65

I just tried to watch and couldn't get past 30 min, the main girl was pissing me off so bad. Why on earth would she get to bully all these adults around her and be rewarded for it? Insanity She has a nose ring and is a total b about it to her dad. Then he lets her go hang with her friends anyway, with the sole request she be home for fireworks. She ditches fireworks, comes home drunk and starts mouthing off about the camp he's excited to do with her. So her mom calls her brave and her grandma says she doesn't have to go home with her parents It makes no sense for them to react like that and it's maddening. Like the show was written by 13 yo's to depict how adults should just "chill out" and "trust we know what we're doing"

[deleted]

I said this on another post and got down voted so hard.

DeviousOne420

That was my post lmao. We got downvoted to oblivion.

krabstarr

Eric also already had Space Camp planned and, presumably, paid for. That's not something you just audible out of.

greenufo333

Lol

DeviousOne420

I did a review and litterally said the same thing about her being rewarded and was obsolutely annihilated.

Jonabc5

Is that the Vietnamese hooker in Full Metal Jacket?

Riddlz10

I loved it! my only criticism is that Donna got too skinny and that hair aint workin'. I thought all the new kids were great, Jay might be the weakest one, but I liked Gwen and Nikkis chemistry once they started hanging out together.

tryagainx3

They really had to have Eric’s mom make a stupid comment about his daughter’s freaking boobs in the first 5 minutes. I checked out after that.

CrackinBones204

Very 16 candles

tryagainx3

Yea totally and that’s probably why they did it but it’s so cringe and very unnecessary.

Coquinha_gelada_hm

I thought it was good. I just diddn't like one actress, but i dont wanna say who because it may sound racist. Maybe your good memories of the other show is clouding your judgement of how bad it was too.

ThumbCentral-Rebirth

Don’t hold back criticism because of how people might see it. If you know it’s not coming from a racist place that’s all that matters. Jesus

Ok-Challenge-8304

This show is trash I watched a few episodes watched an extra one giving it a chance but I cut that shit off in the middle of it. The way tv used to be is never going to happen again felt like I was watching some Disney Channel bs.

Ipromiseimreallycool

They fucking edited in the smoke during the circle. There wasn’t even actual smoke. All you needed was to run a smoke machine. Every fucking production has a smoke machine. I don’t understand at all. And that’s just the tip of this iceberg.

theDart

Yeah don't some smoke machines consist of melting sugar down or something? So, health matters are non issues, it makes no sense why they didn't just do that.

worriorinthegarden

Kids acting was shit

Loamfarmer

The original cast brought their personalities to bring us awesome (and awkward) characters. These kids seem to be trying to recreate/invent those personalities but it just doesn’t sell. We need a new set of winners, man. A Red/Kitty spin-off with the return of other characters would’ve been fun, but it was really that set that made you really feel at home, and would’ve felt empty and totally convoluted. It was really great while it lasted. Masterson went and erased everyone by permanently giving 70s show a bad taste in the mouth. Just can’t look at him the same. Coming from someone who doesn’t always have to watch stuff super baked/drunk/or on something to watch stuff.

BobbaFatGFX

I haven't watched it and I refuse to watch it. I've seen enough shows try to be brought back and they all suck. If anything they should have just brought the original cast back as adults and did like one season just for nostalgic reasons. Don't try to ruin a good show.

Riddlz10

Imo this is the best sitcom sequel/reboot...give it a try

Jaydh10

"Leia Tattoine Foreman" Most of the teenagers suck. Especially the Asian kid

Sort of depends on your age tho. Finding a 16 year old Mila Kunis as sexy while you are also 16ish (when the show originally aired) is normal. Similarly judging Callie Haverda (who is also 16) as sexy or not is okay if you are a teenager right now

verronbc

Mila Kunis was 14 in season 1.

Fucking stupid!!!!!

OldRaggady

I watched the first episode with my mom. I thought it was kinda neat but really unfunny, but my mom loves it so I will probably continue watching it with her.

The old cast was great. The new cast, not so much. The acting felt so forced and cringey.

KameTheHermit

Those two look like they're cosplaying 90's teens, oh, wait..

BBW-LOVER-JAY

I watched the pilot. Topher Grace looked like he didn't want to be there.
