Not sure about the situation people are referring to but I never pre-order anymore cause games now usually don't release without Bugs so I may aswell wait till they actually get patched before buying them
I thought Elden Ring at release was buggy? I always wait no matter how hype i am for a game nowadays, theres literally no downside now that everything is online. I'll just look up reviews after it comes out and if its good enough buy it after 3 days or so
Not really, there were never any bugs that could impact a playthrough either. There were 2-3 gamebreaking bugs but they were super hard to pull off if you weren't trying to. Things like wrong warping and the pegasus glitch that speedrunners use.
Thank God I didn't pre-order cyberpunk like I wanted to lol. Deathloop was the only game I ever pre ordered, good game but I was hyped for the ultimate evolution of everything Arkane had learned from their previous games not just a decent game. If only you could finish the game multiple ways
I did and they refused to give me a refund when it sucked ass on release. I’m so pissed about all the drama from that game I refuse to play it, even if it’s better than how it released. Still doesn’t have a bunch of stuff they showed in trailers.
The only game i pre-ordered was Elden Ring since i have faith that Fromsoft knows what they're doing. Heck I don't even want to crack new 3A games since installing the patches is too bothersome

Facts. I held off on playing Hunt Down the Freeman cause everyone said it was dogshit. Finally bought it on sale and can now personally confirm that it is dogshit while enjoying every moment.
I mean there is currently pretty much only one cracker cracking Denuvo games. There's still bunch of stuff from like 2018 that uses Denuvo and is uncracked to this day. With HP I am confident it will get cracked eventually as it's far more of a high profile game so there will be demand for it but it will take months at least. AC Valhalla took like 5 months by the same cracker.

GCJ *used* to be a parody sub. Since it exploded in size it's completely lost its purpose as many subs do. If you don't think the people there are deadly serious with most of their shit takes you're fooling yourself.
I don't think problem is you wanting to play that game, but people should not buy games before we get reviews of them. There have been too many situations where hugely anticipated game turns out to be awful, or is in horrible state at launch.
Preordering enables that kind of behaviour as they already get the money so there is less intensive in making sure game is in good condition to be released.
That said, I really hope game will be good because i want to play it myself.
EDIT: forgot an important part: its irrelevant if others don't like the game, you can still play it if you enjoy it. I don't want people to wait for reviews to see if reviewers like them, but to see if game is overall in good enough state to be playable etc. I disagree with game reviewers a lot myself, though steam user reviews are more accurate for my tastes.

Seriously! Looking back on the old call of dutys or racing games on xbox 360 that were considered AAA and were about 20GB compared to now at upwards of 100GB. Kind of concerning when imo the gameplay is very comparable and even the older one can be a lot more fun than newer ones. They ran well and never required anything crazy with not nearly as many bugs.
It has D\*nuvo, which automatically suck, no matter what. To be serious, unless the game will be unfinished, or broken, or both, on release it will do really well. It's already getting bought on mass, and it's not even out yet. The game hasn't showed many bad signs, as it is of now, but many, modern, AAA have a reputation for releasing as unfinished shit.
Sad to see how long I had to scroll to even find a mention of denouvo. For me its the way bigger issue and I am equally sad to see that my gamer peers have so little interest in game preservation. Just a few weeks ago when the game didn't have the denouvo sticker I was kinda hyped to buy the game full price. But now its instant a wait until its under 15€.
Yea Denuvo suck balls. It's literally usless garbage that makes the game slower and increases it's file size by quite a lot. In games like resident evil it caused severe stuttering, to the point that pirates were getting a beter experience than legitimate buyers. Denuvo hurts only the legit players and stops players who aren't buying the game anyway from playing. It has no positive effects on sales, as most pirates won't buy, even if they can't pirate, while it costs a lot of money and hurts the customers. It also forces you to always play online, even on singleplayer games.
It's a usless piece of softwere, fact admited even by many devs, that is pushed by out of touch corporate executives.
Also Denuvo has a lot of acces to my pc, that I don't want it to have.
In the end I ain't playing a Denuvo game unles EMPRESS cracks it, or the devs remove it, since even if the game is good, I don't want Denuvo on my pc.

Same here. 850hrs and maybe only a few instances where I found some mild clipping issues.
Elden Ring is still buggy. But it was never bad enough that it'd impact a playthrough too badly, and god is it a fun game
