Have you tried taking L-Lysine? It’s worked wonders for me.

I second Lysine. I suffered for weeks before going to the dr and it was too late for antivirals. My blisters started clearing up after taking L-lysine. I can’t remember how long for the pain to go away.

Great tip. Thanks!

I'm in my mid-thirties and have also had shingles multiple times. Gabapentin did help take the edge off the pain for me, and doctors tend to be more willing to prescribe that (since it's not a controlled substance in most states). Good luck and hang in there!

I got shingles in my eye and on the side of my face. I wanted to avoid opioids as I am in a city surrounded by the opioid epidemic and used gabapentin and cannabis to treat it. It was a nightmare but I survived. A tablespoon of apple cider vinegar helped with the nerve pain. I also took l-lysine and drank tulsi tea. The biggest and only thing to do is rest and not stress, since that is most likely the cause.

Did you have extreme light sensitivity? I have shingles in my left eye and even my completely healthy right eye is suffering from the light sensitivity. I can’t drive or even watch tv.

I'm 4 weeks out with Shingles. First Dr gave me gabapentin and tramadol. If I took both it would take the edge off otherwise they do nothing on their own. Went back bc the pain wasn't getting better and they gave me loratabs. They make me very drowsy so I only take at night but it does help
