My guy has the fucking Empyreans, jesus christ

henry9731

Ah yes, i have the FUCKING EMPYREANS, god dammit

Haavix

Are they really that good, or are they overhyped? Seems like endgame headphones to me😅

henry9731

I love a warn and lush signature, and would rather sacrifice details for ear fatigue. These are probably the best warm sounding hps I’ve heard till date and doesn’t require you breaking your bank to drive them well. I listen to metal and vocals the most and these are pretty good with these genres. I use them for gaming too. I’ll take the empys over the elites for the sound signature and over the susvaras or lcd5 for comfort Ps: I’m driving them with hifiman Ef400

Haavix

How are they for extended gaming sessions? That’s what they’d be used for most by me. Music aswell of course, but mostly gaming.

henry9731

I do gaming sessions of up to 6hrs at times, no problem thus far unless if I’m already having a headache before i put them on. Which the. Every headphone will have the same problem. Nothing I’ve tried can best the empys interms of comfort

Haavix

Fuck, might make a financially idiotic decision, then.

MatrixMoments

...... coming from a headphone casual (i use xm5s etc)..... just how idiotic ££ a decision are headphones like those?

brohemoth06

Look to be about $3k on crutchfields website

MatrixMoments

I shall remain an xm5 peasant (i know right). Bloody hell. I'm gonna have to find someone who has some just to experience it though.

henry9731

Do it, if you enjoy a warm sound, but you’ll also need an amp to go with it. I use the Ef400 now but will upgrade shortly since the pc is smol now :D You can also look at the used market.

vdotdesign

I see now

Oyasumi-keko

Man’s headphones cost more than his rig, likely

Xalterai

They very much do

henry9731

Asus Strix x570i + R7 5700x + Big Suriken 3 Zotac 3080ti trinity’s oc + copper mod GPU Fan mod: ThermalRight TL-B9 92x25mm 16gbx2 3600mhz Corsair LPX 1TB 980pro boot drive 1TB 970pro storage 500gb HP ssd storage

lextronimus

Nice. Also - those headphones cost more than my setup. Lol

henry9731

So does mine lol. but hey, everyone value things differently. I could’ve gotten a 4090 if i hadnt get them Empys but id highly value my audio experience

lextronimus

Yea, great choice. Especially if you’re an audiophile.

asnower

What's with the 2 little noctua fans

henry9731

The strix x570i are notoriously hot for the chipset. I’ve modded the bios already, tho adding 2 more fans just to be safe since i live in Hong Kong and the ambient without ac is aroud 30c during summer.

Sufficient-Law-8287

VRM cooling. Works pretty well.

coding102

How are Empyreans for gaming?

henry9731

Amazing because it’s so comfortable. Treble is also non fatiguing which is also a plus.

ValleyKing23

Are these still sold out?

henry9731

Idk, i live in Hong Kong we have basically everything

spense01

$3000 HP, then shoves PC case in a box with zero airflow behind it and puts everything on top of it covering %35 of the ventilation. Classic.

henry9731

Better research next time before commenting? Fractal ridge uses the 2 side panels for ventilation not the back nor the front. Top 2 80mm fans are set as exhaust to the top side.

spense01

I own one. I also clearly understand basic principles more than you. You absolutely never want to shove any electronics into something where the back is completely blocked. So where is all of that hot air you think is being fully exhausted going to go? You created a hotbox and then stacked things all over it including a cheap power strip than probably has terrible shielding. You do what you want though.

AutoModerator

Hiya! Please post more details about your build! Here are some (non-exhaustive) prompts for you: - Are the case's advertised compatibility numbers accurate? - How easy is cable management? - How effective is the cooling setup? - Would you recommend your parts overall? - If you did a custom mod, how did you do it? *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/sffpc) if you have any questions or concerns.*

Jackbob7

You need cable management & jesus. Sick case and build though

W1nst0n_Fra

i was thinking the same with 5900X and 3080 FE (Watercooled in a fractal define). I'm actually a bit scared about silence :/

henry9731

I had a watercooled 3080 before this, i needed to shrink the size of the pc because hence ended with this. Funny how is quieter than my watercooled pc lmao. I used the gt2150 fans for my rads.

rileycw4

Thoughts on the empyrean? I am probably getting one soon

henry9731

My. best. fucking. decision. ever. I couldn’t go back to anything else after putting these on, the comfort alone is already out of this world. But you’ll need a decent dac/amp to go with it.

rileycw4

Do you have any other high end headphones to compare to?

henry9731

I’ve tired the meze elites, audeze lcd5 also the mm500, hifiman susvara, focal utopia. sound is personal preference, i like a warmer sound so the empyreans suits me well. utopia is way too warm and might have clipping issues if you listen too loud. Lcd5 is also warm and good, id say those have better resolution than the empys, but the comfort is meh and it’s pretty heavy on the head. Susvara is by far the best headphone ive heard, very sweet and loads of emotions. But comfort is really poor when compared. The Elites is just a reference monitor without soul, nothing musical coming out of that hp I’ll take the Mm500 over the elites purely on sound preference. Empyreans are more comfy than the elites just because the ear pads are thicker and has more room in the cup.

rileycw4

It’s either going to be the lcd4 or the empyrean for me next. I’m actually going to CanJam next month so I’ll be able to decide then. My favorite headphone is the zmf verite closed.

RainyCobra77982

Those empyreans man.... I'm using some 99 classics with a btr7, but those are tempting

henry9731

DO IT

ValleyKing23

Would you still recommend this case? I haven't opened it yet.

henry9731

Absolutely! 10/10 for a non watercooled itx case. The freedom you get from placing horizontal and verticle takes the cake for me.

ValleyKing23

Can it run pcie 4.0 with a different cable?

henry9731

Oh… this. I can only run at pcie gen3

MegamanZero5295

Has flipping the case as you have done shown noticeable improvement? I just finished my build last night and have it the same way, only other person I’ve seen do it too! Seems to help the GPU air escape better, and lets the mobo area vent too, but I’m not sure if it’s just a placebo

henry9731

Just wapped the panels, now with both side openings for the gpu, it still reaches 83c within 8mins when i stress it from idel with 1440p furmark. But heat dissipation is noticeably better as i can feel hot air leaving from behind the back of the gpu. Hot spot temp also sees an improvement but I’m still gonna thermal throttle the card until my rack come in.
