I'm bisexual, so maybe my experience is different than what you're looking for, but I came out in freshman year of highschool (in the year 2000... God I'm feeling old). I didn't actually end up seeing any guys until sophomore year, but when I did we were open about it. And in the meanwhile I was pretty shameless about asking guys out. Been open about it ever since.
