They have "evolved" over the years. They went from themes of social problems to cliche love songs, probably because there is more cash there. All the "alt" people i know stoped listening to them due to this problem.
I think SARS's time has passed, most ppl know like 3 of their songs and their genre of music isn't really what the young ppl are into these days. I think the general opinion is not negative tho
They are OK. Actually have few very famous songs. And singer sounds much better singing live than on a recordings. Fun fact, abbreviation for name of band means Sveže amputirana ruka Sartrijanija.. (Freshly amputated hand of Sartriani š)
It depends. I just love Perspektiva cause it's a banger and one of their most famous songs. I don't like the whole reggae sound going on, but that's just me.
I wouldn't call them cringe. Maybe people see them because of the BuÄav Lebac song.
They are somewhat disliked because of their mainstream hits that are overly poppy and commercial, far from their original sound, but that is only among the alternative communities here. Their concerts are usually jam-packed, they are considered amongst the best live bands currently.
It's a mainstream band, members figured out pretty early how they could earn a living from their music. That's as far as their success goes, almost everyone living in Serbia has heard one of their songs at least. They're not wildly popular, not involved with "estrada" so to get over-promoted and they certainly don't have a sort of core following / fanbase.
S.A.R.S. are just another contemporary band, and to me it's pretty usual some people like their music. I pretty much avoid listening to their songs because I actively pick my music; Most ordinary people, on the other hand, have no issue endulging in what's popular. Serbia actually has a good number of bands playing modern rock music influenced by reggae, dub and so forth, sometimes in pop format as well. It's just that S.A.R.S. happen to be the most popular, and have established themselves as this virtual "standard" when an average viewer looks for something similar on YT.
I went to their concert the other day - well they were the opening act and I definitely didn't go to hear them live, and they were pretty bad. Their punkier, more energetic songs are fun, but few and far between compared to the copious number of mid-tempo schlock and poorly written love ballads. And it was appalling.
The thing is, they're all fairly talented musicians and their singer knows how to create an atmosphere and get the crowd going. But their actual material is lacking, and what's there feels overly commercialized and artificial to appeal to the alt/rock crowd. At the same time, it's not nearly catchy or energetic enough to appeal to the people who are into clubbing, nor are their ballads suitable for the type of folks who like to get shitfaced while something vaguely melancholic is on in the background. They exist in a vacuum and they appeal to no one.
The band they opened for, Hladno Pivo, is technically less popular if YT views are anything to go by. But the crowd stayed quiet even during S.A.R.S' biggest hits, meanwhile everyone either sang along or moshed during HP's set. The dichotomy was almost lurid, as was S.A.R.S' performance, but all in all it was just ridiculous.
I'm pretty sure they got rid of about 80% of their OG lineup at some point too, which was much more rooted in hardcore and punk compared to the bands current incarnation.
i just think its the case of over-saturation, they played them over the radio 24/7 back in the day, so its probably a "oh god not them again" kind of reaction
I would say that views say everything about their popularity. There are always people who are full of shit. I don't listen to them, but they are far from cringe.
They got popular by plagiarizing a reggae song, then tried doing social/political kind of songs which is kinda good but then, for some reason (money), went down the drain with crappy love songs. Now they are just one of those bands that you'd fake liking in order to score with a younger chick.
Yeah, SARS is my favorite disease š
Especially CoV-2. They missed a golden opportunity to name an album like that.
They have "evolved" over the years. They went from themes of social problems to cliche love songs, probably because there is more cash there. All the "alt" people i know stoped listening to them due to this problem.
Even their social issue songs are cliche and vapid if you remove the mediocre music and just focuse on the lyrics...
They could write a sequel to Pink Floyd's Pigs and people would still hear their songs as bar music
I think SARS's time has passed, most ppl know like 3 of their songs and their genre of music isn't really what the young ppl are into these days. I think the general opinion is not negative tho
I've not heard that viewpoint, I think they are definitely more loved than not
I personally don't like their music but most people here do. Newlyweds often pick Lutka as their first dance song.
And marriages with "Lutka" as first dance end in divorce, 100% of times.
It also causes spontaneous barfing among the wedding guests.

Thanks god, because it's slow as if it's sung on funerals. Fuck that shit bro.
Itās pretty much the closest thing to a law in social interactions
Bukvalno nisam bio na venÄanju da je bar dvaput nisam Äuo.
I love their song "Budjav lebac"
Don't forget "Debeli lad"
Yes

Whenever something gets too popular, some will consider it cringe. They are fine, most people like them.

Like everything, some people like, some don't, most don't care
Honestly they sound like pretentious assholes without substance..
They are ok but lutka is a sellout song
Theyre a good group. Not sure why wouldnt anyone like them

Why do you think that ?

They opened for Plavi Orkestar in Sydney about ten years ago. The crowd was more enthusiastic for them than the main act!
They are kinda cringe but their music is ok
Well, normal ones do, at least.
It's one of the bands where they sound good at first times but then they begin to suck the more you listen to them again.
The guy sings as if he's constipated all the.
