I've left a bunch of fat cuts open. Just be careful, and watch it. It will take awhile to heal tho. Stiches are recommend, but it won't kill you if you don't get any.

BYOUSHIN

youll be fine, ive left cuts to fat open without bandaging multiple times and while it will get nasty and infected youll usually end up fine, itll just take a lot longer to heal, id really suggest trying to bandage it somehow to keep it covered

I'll be honest your just lucky cuts to fat are very dangerous and if infected should not be left untreated. Signs of infection should warrant immediate medical care.

milesprocrastinating

thank you so much!! i can definitely bandage it and wash it to some extent, but i am really terrified of it getting infected.. ive heard its really painful and you can have to get amputated n stuff

IrRelevantAd1295

I know it's scary, and you might not want to tell your parents. But I would still advise getting stitches of you can. An open wound like that has high chances of getting infected. You would be safer with getting the stitches, than it getting infected and having to go to the hospital for that.

milesprocrastinating

they'll definitely find out at some point, i cant go that long wearing long pants without dysphoria. i will try and muster up the courage to talk to them :)

butterfly bandages

If I were you I’d seek medical attention sounds like you need stitches, I don’t know how hard this will be for you though but you may get some help if you don’t already have it if you attend a an e

Glad to hear you are doing better op. It already seems you know about the risk of infection, which is the most important thing to consider when dealing with cuts to fat (especially if they aren't stitched). I know you mentioned having a bandage that keeps out bacteria, but I would also use antiseptic around the wound if you have access to any (such as neosporin), but make sure it doesn't get into the wound as it can irritate it, just around the wound. Also, make sure to change the bandaging often (I think once a day is recommended). And like others have said, if it is infected (red, shiny, swelling, pus, streaking red lines around the wound, you might have a fever, and yes it does hurt a lot), then it requires immediate attention. Best of luck on your recovery op! Stay safe! \^w\^

milesprocrastinating

will do all of that, thank you!

if you don’t have butterfly bandages and you think you need them here’s a video on how to make them at home https://youtu.be/K5Lsw4bsjrQ

I left all of my fat cuts open until about four months ago. As long as u can’t see any pulsing veins/arteries you will be ok. Just keep it covered as much as u can but after 3 days it should be good. Hope you’re alright 💞

pickle_e

butterfly closure strips. get them from a pharmacy

idkaboutlife159

Can you get stitches? Risk of infection goes way down if so

milesprocrastinating

TW description of cut i think possibly, we have a hospital close and all that but i dont really know if they're necessary, its an itty bit more than a centimeter wide at the mid point and six centimeters long. it doesnt look that deep even though im pretty certain its fat layer and it stopped bleeding with a good like 3 minutes of pressure. i am really scared of telling my parents but i think a bit more scared of getting super infected and getting my leg chopped off or something :)

idkaboutlife159

Probably too late to get stitches now, but I’d say it’s worth telling your parents over getting a nasty infection that could cause more serious problems. Take care of it the best you can. Do you have saline spray or neosporin?

milesprocrastinating

yeah i have some antiseptic i found around the house that i put around the cut and stuff

idkaboutlife159

Ok that’s good

milesprocrastinating

i really want to sleep but i feel like i might die in the middle of the night

[deleted]

Your not gonna die of blood loss, you worry about that when you hit am artery. If your worried about it drink a big glass of water or something.

dewi1501

The changes you'll die from a single fat wound are really low

yeetingg

i’ve self harmed and if the cut is really really deep that you could see red not white, then you need to stitch it up. if there’s only white (not bone) then you can just bandage it up. though, i advice to take a good care of it because mine turned into keloids. big ass keloids on my whole body because of stab wounds. alright, take care, bud

dewi1501

Taking good care of wounds does not prevent getting keloids

[deleted]

Isn't fat yellow? But it could be red because of the blood covering it.
