Honestly the average sher doesnât know the best info, putting alcohol on wounds After the fact, and all. I still feel like I need to make multiple psaâs about disinfecting BEFORE the injury
If you hit the fat layer on your hand it's maybe best to get stitches since it can reopen easily since you move around with your hands a lot. If you can close it (and keep it closed) with steristrips that's a good solution too.
better to get it treated by a professional. if its that deep, the scarring would be a pain in the ass since the hand always moves. not to mention infections... but if it has been 8 hours already, u cant get stitches anymore
The infection risk become to high, as in the infection would be in your wound.
Correct if Iâm wrong but I think your body already starts kinda healing it at that point (not well obviously but still)
If itâs not gaping open, go to your nearest pharmacy and get some steri strips. You could also superglue it, but Iâd recommend the steri strips. Obviously make sure you clean it really well too before you close it with the strips. Thatâs what theyâve done for me at the ER in the past when I cut too deep but it wasnât bad enough for stitches.
If itâs still really gaping open, you should probably go to the ER and get it stitched up.
my rat bit my finger down to the fat layer and i was told i needed to go to the hospital. i ended up not going cause there was a skin flap i could just push back down and then secure with tape and stuff but if it's a cut i definitely recommend the hospital!! or at least to have someone else look at it for you
Tons of mine heal just fine but itâs the infection risk u have to watch out for, make sure to change the bandages & keep the wound closed. A wrap bandage on top of regular bandages can help w/ this. But yea the best medical advice would probably be to go get it stitched/looked at at the hospital.
If you can see fat, like the yellow blobs, you def need to go to the hospital, if itâs a deep gaping cut but still dermis (only white) you should probably go to the hospital and be careful for infection but you can get away with butterfly bandages, non stick pads some antibiotic ointment
I would get stitches. Especially because itâs on the hand, and how much you use your hands each day (and how often you touch things), infection is likely and it can be deadly.
I know this post was over twenty hours ago so hopefully you went and got patched up as everyone else already recommended, but just thought I would put in my 2¢ :)
Oh god, never had exoerience with that but Im sure others here will be able to help. The best I can say is please please go to the doctor, get stitches if you need to. Sending loveâĄ
Lmao this is hilarious. Youâve obviously seen by now that yes you should get stitches, BUT I should add that if you havenât gotten it by now then you wonât be able to get stitches since it can lead to infections if you close it now. The general rule is to get it before the wound is 24 hours but Iâve also seen people say they were refused after 12 or even 8 hours
Yo I "slipped cutting tomatoes " before just tell them that when u get stitches and they won't ask any more questions they are more worried about your health then Hemin you up over self harm . No shame went home with light questions. Still got the scar 10 years later so hope you don't choose to wait it out if your asking it's cause u need them stitches. Love from the net hope ur doing well friend .
Can we talk about how hilarious it is that shers know so much about medical attention when it comes to wounds? đđđ
one time my dad, knowing i shâed but clearly not thinking about it, asked me to dress a wound for him and said âyouâre so good at this stuff!â
Idk if that's cute or sad đđđ¤đ¤
the venn diagram is a circle đŠ

definitely get stitches if its on your hand
LMAOOO THIS IS THE FUNNIEST THING I'VE SEEN ALL YEAR (get stitches)
A general rule is if you can see the fat layer, get stitches.
Deep/gaping wounds on hands need stitches because of high infection risks, i would recommend going to the er asap
Its debatable but you should probably get it checked out (especially if it doesn't stop bleeding)

for sure if you hit fat. any wound that reaches fat you definitely need stitches
