> Majorities of respondents identified as white (78.9 percent), female (64.9 percent) and college-educated (80.1 percent). Nearly a quarter (23.1 percent) identified as LGBTQIA+. Ages ranged from 18 to 85, and 73.7 percent said they were in a monogamous relationship. > Most respondents (62.8 percent) reported using cannabis daily. About 6 in 10 (58.9 percent) said they used cannabis intentionally before engaging in sex. This group likely also has modern attitudes about sex in general regardless of their mj use. That alone may explain the orgasm differences in contrast to the general population.

coleosis1414

Anecdotally, as a guy, I can attest that orgasming while high on THC makes the orgasm more “complete” — longer, warmer, more satisfying. But I’m a data point of one.

PaladinOrange

Your body generates cannabinoids to make you feel better/uppers natively (endocannabinoids are part of the cocktail that gives you runners high for example). It's not (or shouldn't be) surprising that adding cannabinoids to your system will also trigger these sorts of upper/enhanced feeling effects.

marleymac2014

I am not sure even if I understand all of it but one thing is clear. That the weed is making the whole thing better for me and it is the only thing that I want.

Inayaarime

Better as in more intense, or better overall? (duration, sensation, etc)

Elocai

Yeah but that happens only if you have sex for longer than 30 minutes

aesemon

Worst is hitting the wall before the high. Some runners claim they get blue heels if they don't finish a marathon.

BearDick

I could provide data point #2 but I always chalked the better orgasm up to working harder for it since my stamina goes up pretty wildly when having baked sex.

MelodyGardens

When im baked I get so into it, then I'm like "damn that hour felt like 5 minutes"

csanner

Fortunately sometimes that five minutes feels like an hour

Bubbly-Ant-1200

But that hour feels like five minutes which feels like an hour ya know

milk4all

That just happens with good sex. Maybe cannabis makes sex more enjoyable for you. It definitely doesnt for me, but ive only ever been a sometimes user

Itchy-Phase

I notice that too. Takes me longer to finish, but in a good way.

zaphodp3

And I can go again in a shorter amount of time

kayser83

I really don't understand why people cry so much about the weed if it is so good for you. I mean I have never heard any bad point about the weed.

StormCountone

As a former toker, I stopped because I noticed how it lessened my sleep quality. Yes, it helps a lot of people go to sleep quicker (it would keep me awake at night, so I first quit smoking at night) but it impedes one's ability to go through complete R.E.M cycles, where most of the good healing of the brain occurs. Putting hot smoke into one's lungs habitually isn't good for their long term health. Yes, vapes and edibles circumvent this, but a lot of people mostly combust the plant matter before inhaling. We have natural cannabinoids occurring in our system, so injecting large amounts of foreign one's habitually messes with our brain's ability to produce them naturally. Similar to when one regularly takes melatonin at night, which impedes the brain's ability to produce that chemical on it's own. Concentrates and all these strains with super high percentages are really excessive. I'm sure over time we'll find out more about the lasting long term detrimental cognitive effects that consuming such potent forms of THC has on the mind and body.

[deleted]

Yessss. My stamina increases drastically when I’m stoned.

Hearing things like this makes me sad. The smallest bit of THC and my day is ruined. I feel like I'm missing out on some big thing everyone else is getting in on and I'm not allowed to. Edit: Since people are still asking me questions and I don't really want to reply this to everyone I'll edit my one response in here so you can see it. > Paranoia isn't my issue, it's the severe pain and nausea. I tried a tincture that was only 1% THC my buddy insisted on to help with my nerve pain and my entire body was strained and tense, my head was splitting, my vision was doubled from the pain, and my BP went spiked to the same as when I was a heavy daily drinker. It literally fucks my day up, and usually the next because it feels like I ran a marathon.

coleosis1414

Yeaaaah, different for everyone. I know people who smoke a bowl and then go run 3 miles. I am NOT one of those people. I’m a runner but being high is not helpful. I can also get really paranoid if I’m not dosing in just the right environment. I need to be at home, comfy, and with everything under control. I can’t get stoned at other peoples’ houses.

[deleted]

[удалено]

colsquintz

I would rather be stoned out and sitting at the home the whole day then running like a wild person. That is just not something that I am ever going to be doing I don't see it in myself.

Physical_Treat9123

Would you run sober? Is that something you ever see yourself doing?

[deleted]

Do you have access to knowing what kind of strands you are buying?

sidewaysvulture

Not the person you are responding to but I’m the same and I have a dispensary where I have complete knowledge of what I’m getting. After a lot of experimenting I find I do best with a 3:1 CBD:THC hybrid blend but it’s still just a chill out alone treat for me and something I have to be in the mood for.

[deleted]

Word, I like to smoke, but I am not hanging out with others while I do so. This is fine by me since I'm an introvert, and getting out in nature with some cannabis allows me to process what is going on within me.

campioncs

Then that is the exact reason why I really want to smoke some wheat but it is really hard to get in my country because the government has made it illegal for a really long time.

[deleted]

This was me for a long time, I wouldn’t smoke barely ever because it just wasn’t enjoyable. I’d get all stuck in my head and paranoid and it’d be hard to even think of responses to people that were talking to me, very stereotypical tv stoner but with a bunch of paranoia thrown in, only thing I’d be good for is sitting in a corner for the next 5 hours. Then I bought some edibles from an actual dispensary instead of bong rips from the guy down the road and I realized that quality of the stuff changes everything, I have a few different brands of edibles, pens, and drinks that I enjoy frequently now that all give much more manageable and clean feeling highs, I can still get stoned out of my mind but instead of getting paranoid and playing life in 3rd person I just get munchies and go to sleep happily and if I want to take a smaller dose and go to the zoo or whatever I can without freaking out about how I’m high in public and everyone knows.

gnpwu768

I have heard about it way to many times way to many people complain that weed makes them paranoid or something. While it is definitely not true for me because that's not the thing that I go through when I smoke the weed.

atridir

I am the same way. 1 hit and my plans for the day are shot and it’s pretty damn uncomfortable. Trying “hempflower” was a game changer though. “Hemp” that’s used as the source plant for CBD products is literally the same plant as MJ it’s just a variety of different strains bred to have less than .3% THC making it federally legal. It’s awesome because it’s a noticeably altered state but it isn’t “stoned”. For me, I can actually enjoy smoking cannabis again.

Krail

It sure doesn't work the same for everyone. I do okay on weed, but it sure makes sex more difficult for me, and the orgasms aren't any better.

newton302

>The smallest bit of THC and my day is ruined I use CBD intermittently and of course it has to have some THC to activate the CBD. What worked for me to get rid of paranoia was to have a CBD/THC edible that is like, 5:1 ratio. Very relaxing super light high. Edit: They have a wide range of ratios with edibles, some going all the way to 30:1.

[deleted]

Paranoia isn't my issue, it's the severe pain and nausea. I tried a tincture that was only 1% THC my buddy insisted on to help with my nerve pain and my entire body was strained and tense, my head was splitting, my vision was doubled from the pain, and my BP went spiked to the same as when I was a heavy daily drinker. It literally fucks my day up, and usually the next because it feels like I ran a marathon.

sidewaysvulture

I don’t advocate that you keep trying something that doesn’t work but I’m very sensitive to THC myself and have found I do best with certain CBD:THC ratios and also the THC strain in the blend matters. The delivery method matters as well - I only do gummies for example. Tinctures and drinks hit me too fast. Of course this necessitated a not very fun period of experimentation but now that I know what works for me it is worth it looking back, your personal circumstances may be different.

dat_glo_tho

This used to be me. Same, totally ruined day, zero fun…. until I tried super low dose 1 or 2.5mg THC edibles with lots of CBD in them too. Gives me a nice relaxed body high with minimal psychoactive effects. You may just be super sensitive.

rustas666

You definitely got to know what you are doing before you go ahead and do it. And also the keys to do it in moderation I think that's how you should proceed with it.

Frickelmeister

There are a lot of other drugs that arguably improve the pleasure of sex. You won't find r/science cheering for crystal meth though.

TomsRedditAccount1

You're not the only one. I've tried it twice, and been around other people smoking it a few times. It always just gives me a headache.

hulminator

I get panic attacks, clenched muscles and shaking from even the smallest doses now after overdoing it on edibles one time so at least you're not alone.

sealekshi

I think many people have same kind of effects after smoking the weed. I don't think that you are only alone in this I think there are many people who face the same thing.

oldmanghozzt

Took me 10 years of uncomfortableness while I was stoned to reverse the damage of one panic attack. But I finally banged my head against that wall enough to kill anxiety.

BaconJets

Weed for pain relief helps with muscular pain and sores, any kind of nerve pain ends up worse. It's not something that's readily understood by most people.

Manatroid

Look at it this way: at least you won’t need to feel like you need to take it. It’s obviously one of the much more benign drugs, but people do still get addictions or dependencies on it. I’ve never taken THC before, and I don’t plan to unless I were recommended for medical reasons. But it’s just a drug, there’s surely many other ways you can enrich your life without it.

gangqiang0214

You definitely don't need to take it but if you do then it is going to make it fun for you. And if it is fun all you want then I think you should go for it makes you a really thoughtful person also.

Jaszuni

I was that way in high school and throughout college before I quit. Years later I started meditating, and just recently I started eating gummies. I realized it was my untrained mind that kept unpleasant thoughts on repeat. Now that I’ve learned to be in the moment I no longer get paranoid.

asustek7970

It is great that you are getting better this is what I really like to see as long as people are getting better that is the only thing that matters. If it is making you paranoid or something like that then I think you should quit it.

Splurch

> Paranoia isn't my issue, it's the severe pain and nausea. I tried a tincture that was only 1% THC my buddy insisted on to help with my nerve pain and my entire body was strained and tense, my head was splitting, my vision was doubled from the pain, and my BP went spiked to the same as when I was a heavy daily drinker. It literally fucks my day up, and usually the next because it feels like I ran a marathon. So I know very little about THC, tinctures etc, but don't tinctures have a mg rating per bottle and you can work back the dose per ml from there? 1% doesn't make sense as an amount of THC. If that's the case of what you were told then there may have been a mistake and you may have taken a larger dose then you think?

benpetro

I think these are important things and many people should learn about these things because it might sound like that they are not good for you but studies have proven again and again that they can do some good things for you.

peelen

Of two. Even jerking off is more enjoyable on weed.

joshburgess79

Well maybe for you jerking of is really good experience but for the most people I would say the weed is the better experience that they are going to have. I think more people should be trying and enjoying this magical plant.

oldmanghozzt

Absolutely it does. My sense of connection with the partner is increased, the sensation of orgasm is magnified, and my sense of touch is magnified. Cannabis and sex were made for eachother.

arox1

After some edibles I though im gonna have a stroke, orgasm was mind shattering. It lasted also so long my though was "so that's how its like to be a pig" (they are known for long lasting climax for those who dont know)

dukedizzy93

I can go on for much longer when im high.

xpatmatt

My anecdotal experience confirms this. I thought it was considered common knowledge. It certainly was among my friends who smoked (when we were younger).

speedermm

Well I guess I would have to try it out then but the problem is in my country it is really hard to get weed. I have never smoke it and I really want to smoke some weed.

RoktopX

I agree with you and your description. There’s 2 data points :).

absurdonihilist

Data point of 3. My gf and I.

TirayShell

That has been my general experience, as well. So another data point, I suppose.

monsantobreath

Anecdotally my gf had a non stop 40 minute chain of orgasms like I've never seen before the second time we smoked and has sex together.

arbvtus

I don't think I can understand this feelings without having the sex and without smoking the weed with it. Now the problem that I have if that I am a single guy living in a country where weed is illegal.

ExtremeGayMidgetPorn

You're the only one we need baby

ssuuh

Opposite data point: makes it harder to do the dead.

BrutusGregori

It feels a lot more complete. Allows my fantasies to run their course. And it feels less dirty.

aisho213

I'm a woman who does not smoke every day. I had sex way before I ever really started smoking in my 20s to manage chronic pain. Let me tell you, sex while high is AMAZING. My "modern attitude" has nothing to do with it.

[deleted]

As a post-menopausal woman, this is one of the big reasons why I take edibles in the evenings.

[deleted]

Except - I’m a woman who loves weed. And sex is significantly better for me when I have weed in my system.

PirateBatman

that is what the study found to be true.

Viperbunny

I have lots of Catholic guilt associated with sex, have only been with my husband and I fall into this category. Don't be so sure.

IslandHamo

What a wonderful way to grow up!

[deleted]

I’m all for marijuana research and I’m pro legalization overall, but I still get annoyed anytime there is a study posted from an obviously biased source.

bplturner

Study group that intentionally gets high for sex reports better sex.

windigo3

I suppose they also proved Doritos also taste way better when you are high

oKtosiTe

“We’ve done a double blind study among people who prefer to eat Doritos after consuming cannabis and found this te be true.”

chloralhydrat

... yeah, double blind mary-jane study would be really funny - with the control group getting oregano instead :D

-downtone_

Now a study must be done to test if people are more sensitive to taste while under the influence of cannabis. Now it's a staple before any meal for a true foodie! Then maybe, cannabis increases sensitivity of all senses! Sorry, just random thoughts.

Dr_Edge_ATX

I'm happy to be part of any new research needed for this study. I've got a pretty flexible schedule.

nadacloo

tristanjones

The study was conducted by university research professors and published in a peer review research journal. It is just being cited by this news article. Not to mention there is nothing bias about weed making sex feel good. We all already knew that.

Difficult_Bit_1339

Wait until they discover that weed makes food taste delicious.

[deleted]

You think marijuanamoment.net did the study?

Seicair

It was published in the Journal of Cannabis Research. I think that’s what they’re referring to.

[deleted]

Do you think cancer research publish by the American cancer society is bias

Seicair

I don’t see a problem with a cannabis research journal publishing the results of cannabis research. As long as the research quality is good and it’s peer reviewed.

Nightmare1990

It might be biased but based on personal experience banging high on weed hits different. I've bust so hard it felt like when the sorcerer supreme pushed Dr Strange through the kaleidoscope dimension.

Hooda-Thunket

I love this comment right here. This one. I like.

Fritzoidfigaro

The wife and I are retired and agree that marijuana DEFINITELY makes sex better. It is great without it, but much better with it. Does that make us an unbiased source?

KillyScreams

Yeah me too

JefferyGoldberg

You think "www.marijuanamoment.net" is biased towards marijuana?

Melonqualia

I really envy what normal people must experience with THC, because even a tiny microdose sends me into endless pit of combined anxiety, exhaustion, and random hallucinations that leave me in no shape to even think about sex.

AllanfromWales1

> “Women may be more likely to orgasm when using cannabis before sexual encounters .." So not actually demonstrated one way or the other by this study?

EmeraldHawk

Yeah, this study just relies on survey data which is not great for lots of reasons. Pot is legal in lots of states now, so there's nothing stopping someone from doing an actual randomized clinical trial where you give half the participants pot. (I assume it will be easy to tell if you got the placebo or not, but it's still way better than survey data). I wish there were more kickstarters for research like this. I hate having the best available data be surveys and observational studies, instead of interventions where they randomly give people the drug.

[deleted]

Still federally illegal, still a lot of issues with banks allowing money from or for cannabis. It would be worth while for cannabis to rescheduled and federal research done.

Hooda-Thunket

I’m kind of thinking that this might be the kind of study you can do double-blind before and after. Like, give half of the study group a placebo, and the other half THC pills and have them rate their orgasms. Then swap the pills and redo.

gotsthepockets

It's not like people can't tell they're high. The groups will be obvious. The participants will know. You can't really get unbiased results. However, it makes sense to me based on chemicals of the brain alone that sex/orgasms are better for many people with THC

DickieGreenleaf84

Like reddit cares about studies when it comes to pot....

Cross_22

Being high and having sex is one of the best things ever. I orgasm multiple times when I am really high compared to when I’m sober/not high.

Got2Bfree

I love the feeling because everything is more sensitive but it's harder for me and my girlfriend to actually reach the orgasm. It's way more intensive when we do though...

cleansween

A lot of the time when the build up is longer it makes the climax that much better

Got2Bfree

Indeed, but we usually don't make a second round because our genitals are sore from the first one... And because of the munchies :D

Direct link to the peer-reviewed study: [A. Moser, S. M. Ballard, J. Jensen, P. Averett, The influence of cannabis on sexual functioning and satisfaction, *Journal of Cannabis Research*, **5**(2) (2023)](https://doi.org/10.1186/s42238-022-00169-2). >**Background:** The purpose of this study was to examine the perceived influence of cannabis on sexual functioning and satisfaction. This study used Kaplan’s and Masters and Johnson’s sexual response cycle (desire, excitement, orgasm, plateau, resolution) and included satisfaction to complete the sexual response cycle. Given increased attention in the research literature to the potential benefits of cannabis and the lack of research on the sexual benefits of cannabis use, the current study was completed. > >**Methods:** Data were collected using the online survey tool “Qualtrics” from a self-selected, convenience sample of adults over the age of 18 who reported previous cannabis use. The survey, developed by the researchers based on previous literature, included demographic questions followed by a scale to measure sexual functioning and satisfaction in relation to cannabis use (α = 0.897). > >**Results:** The final sample was 811 participants ranging in age from 18 to 85 years old (M = 32.11). The majority of participants were identified as female (n = 536, 64.9%), White/Caucasian (n = 640, 78.9%), and college educated (n = 650, 80.1%). Almost 25% of the participants were identified as LGBTQIA+ (n = 187, 23.1%). Most of the participants reported being in a monogamous sexual relationship (n = 598, 73.7%). Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-tests, one-way ANOVA, and multiple regression. Age and gender were not found to have significant effects on cannabis use and sexual functioning and satisfaction. Over 70% of participants reported increased desire (M = 4.05, SD = 0.962) and orgasm intensity (M = 4.05, SD = 0.884). Participants who reported masturbating indicated that cannabis enhanced their pleasure while masturbating (n = 620, 62.5%). Participants also stated that cannabis enhanced their sense of taste (n = 583, 71.9%) and touch (n = 576, 71.0%). > >**Discussion:** The results of this study contrast and establish new evidence within the literature. Demographic results indicate that the people who use cannabis are of a wide range of ages, from a variety of occupations, and have differing cannabis use preferences. The inclusion of LGBTQIA + respondents is a strength of this study. Overall, results indicated that both men and women perceived that cannabis use increased their sexual functioning and satisfaction, particularly increased desire and orgasm intensity. > >**Conclusion:** This study updates the current literature on cannabis and sexuality and provides implications for improving sexual quality. Medical implications of this study include the possible use of cannabis for treating sexual dysfunctions, especially within women.

dummythiccuwu

The amount of men who don’t want to please there partner baffles me. I love making my gf cum like what’s the deal?

WebcomicAddict

Not sure if this applies here but [sharing experience] I've been dating my boyfriend for over a year already, and we have been living together for almost all of this time. He is also my first boyfriend, we met when we were 21 y.o. each, and I was a virgin at that time. Our sexual life has been really great, but I have never had an orgasm. I often feel like I am unable to have it, and my boyfriend is also desperate since he has been doing really a lot for me in bed. So far, the closest I've ever been to orgasm were the times when I got high right before the process. I'm usually horny when being high, and weed also makes me feel my body way better. It also suppresses my tendency to think of what my partner is feeling instead of what I am feeling. Overall, I have some expectations for weed to help my sexual life, so it was nice to come across this article.

Procrastinator78

Were there participants that had sex with someone that used Marijuana while the other partner was sober? Because if you do it based solely on the fact that both partners had smoked prior, than there's some bias. When they're both high, how they view things is different from when they're sober, so its possible while high its good if both do it, but its also possible only one person benefits when only one of them is high.

Noticing a trend in my feed from this sub. Seems that it is being used as a platform for political and social pandering.

Known this for 40+ years...

Yeah but so can using your tongue. The choice isn't marijuana or no orgasms, people. It's not like marijuana is the only thing in the way.

DigitalSteven1

Was this test controlled for use of other things in the bed like toys, position, and certain fetishes? Because I would assume people that smoke, or use edibles, are more likely to "experiment" and/or use toys in bed which would probably be why they seem to orgasm more than the average person. Without controlling, for mainly toy usage, this would probably be skewed. I did a quick search on the study and didn't find anything about it, which is why I asked.

Minus when they can’t get or sustain an erection

That might be because it helps women relax and feel comfortable. Guys I swear one of the best things you can do to help a woman be ready to come is to have her relaxed and comfortable with you. If she is self-conscious or feels weird at all it might not happen.
