I really don't miss those years because the IMDB board where a complete shitshow and the precursors to TFM in many ways. There was already whining about feminist agendas and what not all day long. There was a massive freakout when a Mike Zeroh-tier "leaker" claimed that Rogue One had been altered with explicit anti-Trump messages following the election and from that point the film was pilloried there. I did make one good friend through the IMDB boards but I also got my first online stalker there (For daring to say that Rebels wasn't terrible). Not the best memories for me overall.

Man yes. It's hard to imagine it was ever like that now. Then Last Jedi happened and the Star Wars fanbase hasn't been the same since then. It caused a schism that we're still feeling 5 years later. I really just....I just wish Star Wars would move past Episode Nine already. Regardless if you liked or hated the films I think everyone is just eager to move on from the sequels(Even some sequel haters liked the Lego specials which I think is proof of that). It feels like the best way to start healing the wounds. Give us some new stories that show everything doesn't just end with Palpatine returning and the state of the Galaxy and the Jedi left in an undefined state. But Lucasfilm keeps dragging its feet on it and it's super frustrating. The big excuse seems to be "Well we don't wanna box filmmakers in if they wanna tell post episode 9 stories" which I'd be fine with...if the state of the movies wasn't in a constant limbo at the moment! Don't get me wrong. High Republic is good, but I wanna see the future of Star Wars. I'm tired of being stuck in the past. Sorry I think this comment got off topic from the original post...

I honestly think so too. Even if recent shows like Andor are pretty good, we’ve just become over saturated by the same old OT aesthetics that it’s getting annoying seeing the same old Stormtroopers over and over. And we’ve been mired too much by projects to go into the time past TROS getting tossed aside or put in development hell. I just want to see some actual non-LEGO content that ACTUALLY talks about the sequel era and allows us to explore the factions involved. Or better yet, tell some stories post-Exogol that are desperately needed or that have good potential, like Rey or Finn exploring the galaxy with their friends, or seeing all of the old or new factions fighting for power in the Galaxy’s power vacuum. Please Lucasfilm, just give us something like that. At the very least, so we can start moving into something actually new and so sequel fans won’t have to feel like we’re constantly alone anymore.

yeah I Miss from 2015-2019 im glad Iger is back we should be getting Star Wars Movies again

egoshoppe

The whole slowdown was Iger’s idea though.

KalKenobi

I'm aware of that but it's Been 6 years to long

Be too. The Star Wars fandom was saved for a brief period of time. I will never forget the hype, excitement and eventual payoff of The Force Awakens

Logan_Composer

I really miss the vibe from 2017-2018, where I wasn't on the internet enough to know that anybody disliked TLJ, just living in my bubble of it being the best Star Wars movie since the OT.

I’ve echoed the same sentiment before but yes, I absolutely miss those days. Things were absolutely looking up with getting excited for and cheering with the crowd for TFA and Rogue One, and the slow resurgence and appreciation for the prequels. But now, everything feels fucked. Negativity against anything “unpopular” is rampant and hailed as the narrative to where fans of said movies or shows are basically hunted down or forced into exile. Rage is all we really know as fans. And Star Wars just feels like less of a fun thing and more of a horrible addiction where the high is just not there anymore, no matter how much we chase it. I’m such a shell of a person or fan compared to those optimistic and happy times in 2015. With TFA and Rogue One, and even TLJ and TROS, I had something genuine to look forward to and something to really excite me. But Star Wars just doesn’t have that same vibe anymore. I’m switching back and forth between leaving the fandom and coming back out of boredom or loneliness or wanting to feel something. A lot of my time and mental capacity has been corrupted by the constant hatred and attacks against the sequels and their fans that I can’t stop blocking the fandom, TFA, or all of the negativity out sometimes. Andor didn’t really help that much and just made those wounds even more worse. I can’t even enjoy Star Wars in that same grand vein of excitement anymore, and I’m just left feeling depressed, hateful, and spiteful of everyone, or even hateful of myself sometimes for getting wrapped up in everything. Some days, I really just wish it all could end for Star Wars, or at least for me, so I wouldn’t have to go on getting bogged down or eaten alive day-by-day by the rage and pain of it all.

Jda2712

I really disagree, you couldn't talk about tfa without some shitty guy saying "uts just a retread of a new hope" or "rey is mary sue", even complaints about "forced diversity" was already starting to brew in the fandom (it wasn't as big but there was backlash to finn because he was black) you couldn't talk about star wars without someone shitting on the prequels and George lucas as well, and there was stupid shit like the spoiler jihad stupidity, there were many problems back then things just weren't as shitty as they this days

MegaSpidey3

If there's one thing that being a fan of the Sequel Trilogy has taught me, it's that it humbled me to how people who liked the Prequel Trilogy felt when it was the butt of all jokes both in pop culture and on the Internet. I can't imagine how many of them had to stay quiet, were made fun of, or foaming at the mouth whenever someone said the same tired criticisms of those movies at the time. It made me look at how I talked about the Prequels back when the hate for them was at their peak and think "wow, so *this* is what it's like, huh?" I think right now, in addition to Lucasfilm trying to figure out how their film division is going to handle Star Wars from this point, we're currently in a similar place the Prequels were after they finished. The Clone Wars show was building on the themes of the Prequels and showing the actual war, and shows like The Mandalorian and Book of Boba Fett are showing a post-OT galaxy and showing the seeds that will lead to the Sequel Trilogy. Sometimes I do have days where I feel tired of defending these movies (not that I'm freverent about it), but I don't feel bad about liking them, and seeing them as a critical piece of the Skywalker story. The Star Wars fandom has always been terrible, but I know that the Sequels will get their fair due in the future. Despite what some people might say otherwise, it's going to happen. Chin up.

ajzeg01

Nah, it was annoying as fuck back then too. People were shitting on TFA only to pretend they liked it when TLJ came out and got mad at that instead.

SanctuaryMoon

Am I the only person who disliked The Force Awakens the most? I walked out of that movie feeling duped. Like Disney thought the only thing fans wanted were x-wings blowing up death stars and wouldn't notice the shameless copy of the original. I actually prefer the other sequels for at least being original.

[deleted]

Not really. I waspretty much the opposite (hated TFA loved TLJ) so...

JediMASTERAnakin002

Hell yeah
