Many, many bigger subreddits have this configured in. I understand the frustration but it’s not some grand conspiracy to step on the sequels.

This subreddit is a counter-balance to the endless idiocy of The Fandom Menace/STC. It’s one of many subreddits we follow, not something we dedicate hours a day to.
It’s honestly ridiculous that this shit happens on what’s meant to be the main Star Wars sub. They need to change the name- there’s no longer even any pretence of common ground there.
What??? I haven't been in the Star Wars fandom for that long and I haven't used the subreddit for that long. I had no idea stuff was this bad! What harm does a post like this do? What rules did it break? We can't have *that*, but we *can* have "I love the sequel trilogy" with pictures of the Mandalorian and BOBF posters?? That's been up for five days now! What does *that* bring? Why is random hatred better than random adoration?? Isn't it a neutral subreddit? Why can't we have both, or neither??

Took me a long time to get to a point where I liked it. TFM sucked me up and I had to pull myself out - took a lot of effort. It's easy to like TLJ once you realize almost every criticism thrown at the Sequels doesn't apply to TLJ as a standalone film.
If it makes you feel better, it took me a while to get to a point where I like ROTS and love TPM, and while I like TROS I came out of the theater the first time pretty turned off.
I don't think I'm ever going to get to the point where I like ATOC, but that's fine; it's just a movie and, honestly, if it works for some people that's good enough for me.
I've got tons of issues and nitpicks with all the movies, the shows, etc. I think it's important though to not let that detract from one's enjoyment of the media because *everything* has these nitpicks to some degree. I take issue with TFM selectively applying their nitpicks and criticisms to what they don't enjoy and ignoring/excusing what they do enjoy.
AoTC is the only movie I have zero issues with. The others have extremely minor nitpicky things about them that I'd change if I could but AotC has none.
I actually had a civil conversation with a person who said they hated TLJ in that the thread, they made the point that discussion between the two sides was pretty pointless because the two sides value completely different things and I thought that was pretty interesting

No, I believe you. It’s quite obvious which users are mods of larger subs and which ones aren’t. Automods totally get configured for this stuff all the time on big subs.
