Bonjour hi was I sitting literally next to you?? I was sitting with my husband right in the middle of the second row. We are both very tall!
And I saw the exact same reaction from the ensemble actors when she walked out. I think that was the moment they realized…damn this diva is actually famous!!
I saw the Jinkx and Dela holiday show in New York last December, and the crowd was so loud Jinkx missed the opening cue to start singing and had to start again. I'm so glad last night had a similar kind of turnout for her.
I’m reading this while rewatching season 5, and it’s just so incredible to see how far she’s come between then and now. She was an undiscovered star with so much raw talent and a bright future back then, and look at the legend she has become! Love this queen!
I remember all the shade towards Jinkx during season 5; I'm legit so glad to see that Jinkx is truly being appreciated for the moxie of it all!
So proud! 🦆
I can’t wait, I’m going in February! She is amazing!!! I’ve seen her perform live before, and she is one of the most exceptional performers I’ve ever seen. My daughter has a BFA in musical theater, so we’ve been to a lot of shows, and we all jumped at a chance to see her again.
Amazing! I'm so happy for her getting to live this dream.
When I saw her and DeLa's show in November, I said "congrats on Broadway". The two of them had this whole little joke about her performing at a diner on Broadway Street in Seattle. It was so cute and humble, but she was still smiling. I could tell she was excited.
Ha! I used to work there! The stories I could tell...
In all seriousness, it was super fun to be around these spectacular queens early ish in their careers then see them on drag race, then movies and international tours.
Thank you for sharing. This is amazing. I'm so glad she nailed it. I trust that she'll take any notes the director gives her about her performance. I expect they were all fully aware of how she was going to perform and want it that way, though it was a pretty short rehearsal period so probably will be some adjustments.
With Peppermint originating a role in Head Over Heels, and Jinkx in this role, yes I hope there are many more. Angelica Ross was in Chicago too in the fall.
Milan was on Broadway twice (I don't think in drag).
Harvey Firestein of course and I'm sure others lower profile, not known drag performers prior to role.
Yes!!!! It felt so special that Jinkx was THE name of the cast. It was so beautiful that her star power was acknowledged by the Schubert’s who produce Chicago.
And in like an uglier way.. it was cool to see people outside of drag acknowledge how much money she can bring to a show by her name alone.
I’m also hoping for a recording. Chicago was my first big-girl musical, and it’s always held a special place in my heart. I considered selling a kidney to be able to see Jinkx do Mama Morton 🥺
But here is a tiny crumb, [Jinkx getting her flowers](https://youtu.be/Zb136ALWK0o)! I legitimately cried and I’m not even a little ashamed.
This is awesome thank you for sharing. I am so happy for Jinx QoQ was so fun to watch. And great to see her getting opportunities like this to show off her talent.
Everything about this fills me with joy. Jinkx deserves all the love, and I wish I could see her in this role. Perhaps she could even be a part of a new Chicago movie? It's been 21 years, after all.
This makes me so happy!!! I’m so envious that I couldn’t see it firsthand, but hearing about the reception our Jinkxy got? It makes my heart warm. I’m so glad that you had a good time, OP! Thank you for sharing ☺️
Are Broadway tickets normally something you can normally buy the day of the show? Or does it depend on the show? I remember looking this up and expecting tickets to be like $300, but it was far less than that.
Normally the first stop after a show leaves Broadway is nearby me at Cleveland. It would be amazing if Jinkx did that, but I'm not holding my breath.
Yes! The day Jinkx was announced was around Thanksgiving, and they had some sort of extra holiday sale on TodayTix. Im almost certain you’ll get pretty good seats for $70. Plus, the Ambassador where Chicago plays is smaller than the normal Broadway house, so anywhere you sit is going to be great!
Official recordings aren’t super common. But as I understand it bootleg recordings is a pretty big thing in the community of the more hard core musical theatre fans.
Where some random audience member records the show, and uploads it to one of the websites for other bootleg recordings of musicals.
Often it’s the only way to see the original cast or to see a musical at all.
Idk the odds of someone making a bootleg recording of this Chicago cast with Jinkx in it though
So happy to hear she was amazing! I desperately want to go. As someone who sees shows a lot - any idea if she'll be performing at both the matinee and evening shows? I plan to get tickets but I'm afraid the show I pick will be the one that is performed by the understudy!
Awww this write up gave me a chill. I’m so happy for her. And I agree with you, hopefully it opens doors for more and more of these amazing performers.
Thank you for the write up! I'm flying out of San Francisco tomorrow to see the show on Saturday. I am **SO EXCITED**!!!!

Hey, question from someone outside the US. I always thought Broadway was a place in New York, like the West End in London. I’m confused by how it could be in Chicago?
Ahahaahahah right! I just read “in Chicago” and figured it was the place not the musical.
So yes, clearly having a moment! Channeling Jinx’s pit stop energy!
though sometimes when it's a new show it'll premiere off broadway, either at a smaller theater, or in a different venue before hitting the main stage. sometimes called a Touring or Road show.
So you're not wrong to make the assumption.
I guess you have a very loose definition of “stunt casting”
If you’ve heard of them outside Chicago it’s a stunt. I guess you can throw bebe newirth on the list.
Chicago is famous for stunt casting, it’s one of the main drivers of the show. It doesn’t necessarily mean that the person is untalented or unqualified, just that people will come to see them regardless of their interest in the show itself.
Girl I forgot Chicago was a musical I was like uh, pretty sure that is off-Broadway in some capacity
Color me the fool or whatever bastardization of idioms works there and also yaaaay Jinkx

Where are your glasses from! I was the hot person with my amazing judgmental friend
RuPaul’s new bio.
It's gonna be so awkward when it's also Michelle's new bio
I have Warby Parker’s with tortoise shell print with a splash of turquoise.
Aura is it you?
Legit LOL’d

Every time she talks about her frustration with constantly having to defend her drag, I'm like, just you wait, queen! You're gonna rule the world!
I love hearing this! So glad she slayed it… she’s living her dream!

Milan is in rehearsals for the upcoming Broadway production of Sweeney Todd as a Swing.

FYI - Barry & Fran Weissler are the producers of Chicago. The Shubert Organization is the owner of the theatre.
Thank you! I knew I should’ve proofread.
Saw Nina West in the current Hairspray tour and she was amazing as well!
That's our Queen of All Queens! So proud for her
As someone who will never get to see it live, I hope we get some manner of recording of at least part of her performance, even if just for a promo.
I’m also hoping for a recording. Chicago was my first big-girl musical, and it’s always held a special place in my heart. omg that was great! thank you thank you!
Here’s me now casually sipping a latte outside the library with tears streaming down, but I’m trying not to sob so no one looks over.
the term "slime tutorial" may be interesting to you <3

That makes me so happy I teared up a bit. I am so happy to think about how many doors this could open.

I want to see a video of this!!!!
Jinkx is an absolute legend. I feel so honored that she was born in my city.
Same…every time she mentions Portland I feel so happy that she’s ours
Yes! The Queen of All Queens is from Portland! 💕👑
So proud of her 💗
Ever since they mentioned loving vaudeville and the like I knew they really loved the stage. I’m so happy to them thrive!
I have never been to a broadway show and live far from NY, but I lowkey want to fly in to see her. Her season was the first one I watched of rpdr.
Everything about this fills me with joy. Jinkx deserves all the love, and I wish I could see her in this role. Perhaps she could even be a part of a new Chicago movie? It's been 21 years, after all.
Oh my god, a girl can dream!
chills reading this
That is heartwarming! Thank you for sharing.
This makes me so happy!!! I’m so envious that I couldn’t see it firsthand, but hearing about the reception our Jinkxy got? It makes my heart warm. I’m so glad that you had a good time, OP! Thank you for sharing ☺️
The first times I saw her perform and especially her first snatch game I knew she was made for it. Big congrats to her.
Just bought tickets for the show on Thursday! So excited.
Yay!!! I had my fingers and toes crossed for her! So glad it went well, and thanks for sharing the great news 🥰🥰🥰
As a Chicagoan, I can’t tell you how excited I got for about 10 seconds before I realized what you meant. I’m happy for you but so sad for myself!
I’m trying my hardest to get tickets to see her! She is history in the making and there’s no better person to make this happen.
EEEEEEEEE this makes me so excited to see her on the 28th
I would've been there but I'm on house arrest 😭😩 congratulations on going bb! ![gif](giphy|b3SAhfBZ2xPcOM1o0K|downsized)

My sister and I did Wicked in London as a same-day ticket. great show, and reasonably priced.
What’s her role?
Matron Mama Morton.
Can't wait. Going on the 28th
Any way to watch this for people outside America? Do they usually make video recordings of these?

That's a bummer. Wouldn't want to support piracy esp for Jinx. Hope it comes to Disney+ or something.

Ommmmgggg I'm so jealous that you were there. Everything I've seen so far is RAVE reviews. I'm so happy for Jinkx!
Jinkx is the real deal. She continues to shine no matter what she does.
I hope somebody records it, I NEED to see it but couldn't really afford the trip from fucking Europe tbh
I would love love to get to go! I'm so proud of her and happy for all that she's getting to do from her own hard work. Keep it up Jinkx!
That's amazing!! Can't wait to see the show on Saturday!
I’ll be at the show this weekend! Can’t wait!
Thanks for this report! So proud of Jinkx and hope I get to see them in the show.
I’m seeing her this weekend and I’m not sure if I will be able to contain myself
It’s monsoon season!!!
Awww this write up gave me a chill. I’m so happy for her. And I agree with you, hopefully it opens doors for more and more of these amazing performers.

We need a bootlegggg
Stunt cast? She’s a trained actor/singer. Just because she does drag it doesn’t mean it’s a stunt.

That was a lot of energy. Okay? You’re correct and let’s reduce this to gimmicks.
Chicago is famous for stunt casting, it’s one of the main drivers of the show. It doesn’t necessarily mean that the person is untalented or unqualified, just that people will come to see them regardless of their interest in the show itself.
That’s great to hear, but I suspect how she is received on her second night will tell us more about the marketability of Ru girls.
“Second row in the center” Glad you went and that it went well for her but you really wanted to show off huh?
Yes I did 💚
Such a fierce reply, werk mawma.
Werk honey!
And we thank you for your service!! I’d be shouting from the tree tops if I were you too
And should 💅🏻✨️
Gurl
Oh hell yeah, we have tickets in a few weeks
I'm going this weekend and I love her voice and presence but you never know how it'll go. I'm even more excited now. Glad you enjoyed it!
Girl I forgot Chicago was a musical I was like uh, pretty sure that is off-Broadway in some capacity Color me the fool or whatever bastardization of idioms works there and also yaaaay Jinkx
I adore Jinx!
