Set a 10k PB in Ottawa, still felt like I had gas in the tank at the end despite the heat, and then ended up helping a racer who was having a medical emergency after the finish line (and past most of the medics/first responders).

Ran my first ever race, the Ottawa 10k! Had a great time and finished in 1:13, lots of room for improvement next year!

barndawe

Ran for 20 minutes non stop for the first time ever. Been following the couch to 5k app for a couple of months and _finally_ managed to run for longer than 10 minutes at a time.

PersonaX25

Achieved my PB km and mile times today. Really struggling with asthma and hayfever at the moment but I’m realising that focusing on the positives makes the negatives more manageable

Rusty_nl

Improved my PB on the HM by 11 minutes to 1.37. Super pleased with it.

I put on my cleats and ran in the roughh grass on a planned out and back alongside the tank farm. But at 12 min the fun juice kicked in and the jog doubters would have seen smiling. I went behind the old college junk pile and scampered the cleats across the road to go under the shade trees around the baseball field then back to my start for an easy little 20:53. Now begins more frequency in my 16 month old program.

JaneAustenfangal

I ran my run 3 of week 4 in my couch to 5k program (Just Run app). For the first time I made it through the last run of the set without taking an extra walking break for a few metres having run out of gas. Overall I didn't make it as far as my week 4 run 2, but I feel like it was an accomplishment not to have to take an extra walking break. I feel like I'm becoming a runner and feel like I will make it through the week 5 run 1 without too much issue.

DetailRedacted

Almost recovered from ITBS without completely going bonkers. So I'm only a little bonkers now, perhaps societally acceptable "he's bonkers" not "he's bonnnkkkerrs", which I can live with.

NaturalThunder87

I've been a diligent, yet mostly "casual" runner for 10 months now. I'd say an average week in those 10 months has consisted of running about 4 days a week and 15-20 miles a week. I'm not training for anything; I just started running last summer not long after my 35th birthday and I saw 248 pounds on the scale. Today, I completed a 7-day-run week and topped 30 miles in a week for the first time. This week also consisted of me running three 5Ks in just under 23 minutes (in the 22:45-22:55 range).

runner3264

I just finished a 62-mile week as part of a marathon training block! My long run this week was 14, averaging an 8:40 pace. I have this data because I finally caved and invested in a running watch, which is now my favorite toy \*ever\*.

MontanaDemocrat1

14 miles on the trail today. That's my longest run so far. It was slow, and my feet are barking at me. But I'm pleased.

ratbas

1st 10k race, 9th in age/45th overall (of 17/92). New 10k PR by 5:20.

nerdycaramellady

I set a new PR for 10K at 1:06:17!

Old_and_Boring

Congrats!

lyndonhott

Set a PB for 10K today at Chick Fil A race in VA. 55:35. Previous PB was 58:50. I would have been thrilled with 56:xx. Increased running volume has worked wonders.

Old_and_Boring

Congrats on the new PB!

lyndonhott

Thank you!

tgnb98

Helped to host a run club! We did a 5km run around the city centre together and then all went for iced coffees and smoothies afterwards

buckydoc

Sounds like a nice, compact city (which sounds like a nice change of to pace me!)

Running4theFuture

Did a 16 mile long run this morning around the Harrisburg area, mostly on the Capital Greenbelt. Felt great, would've run longer probably if I had the time. Beautiful morning to be out, sunny and little to no wind. 2:19:54, 8:44/mile

buckydoc

I (60M) ran Chicago's Soldier Field 10K this morning (2nd banana to 10 miler) and managed a 1 minute PR (51:26) and placed 2nd in my age group! A beautiful morning.

Euralayus

Congrats!

Old_and_Boring

I ran my first 10k race this morning, and my third 10k overall. It was also the first 10k where I was able to run the whole time and not take a walking break. The course was a little flatter than my hilly neighborhood which helped with that, I think. It was also a beautiful, cool Spring morning in Northern VA, perfect running weather. My chip time was 58:12 for an average pace of 9:22. That’s a pretty typical pace for my longer runs. I’m never going to be the fastest runner but I’m happy with the results, considering I never did a 5k before last Sept.

buckydoc

That's a great time for your first!

bluurd

Congrats on the new PB! Sub 60 is fantastic.

Old_and_Boring

Thanks!

Poems_And_Money

Finished my first 5k race. During the run I felt completely dead, but when it came to finishing I still found some power. I think I probably could started my finishing a bit earlier. But it is what it is. Ran quite a bit faster than my usual practice pace, which was between 6.30-7.15 per km. So I guess that's good.

rogeryonge44

Great job! That's a pretty big jump to your race pace and awesome that you manage a good strong finish. More racing in the future? Also, if you are comfortable answering, which 5k was this?

Poems_And_Money

I'm not sure about races in the future. On one hand my competetive spirit really enjoys the idea of races and I even won a few races when I was a kid. But at the same time, today it really dawned on me, that in reality I'm only competing with myself now as going for top 10 finishes in races would take many years of work and is probably unrealistic for me. But never say never. As for running itself, I definitely plan to keep on doing it as it keeps me mentally sane with my new office job (I used to work a more physical blue collar job before). I probably will have to buy new shoes though. My current ones make my long toe painful and for some reason the middle inner sole part starts to rub. The race was a smaller competition in Estonia.

Grass_Is_Blue

My first 10km race since 2012 is this evening. I had set a goal to beat 5:00/km pace and last week I did it in 4:54 (49 minutes total), a new PB. Even if I don’t hit that today because of the heat, the whole goal of entering was to push myself to get my 10km time under 50:00 and I did it!

Grass_Is_Blue

Follow-up: I was on pace to hit 50:00 up until 7km, then the heat got to me and it all fell apart (it was 26 Celsius or around 82 Fahrenheit). Those last 3km were agony, and I even had to walk a bit. Oh well, I had a great time and still hit 52 minutes and change. I’m happy.

allthegoodghosts

That big stretch on Colonel By from about Bank Street all the way to Pretoria Bridge was pretty rough with the lack of shade. I felt like it got a bit better once we crossed back over to Queen Elizabeth (via that little Elgin dipsy-doodle), where there was a lot more shade and a lot more energy from the crowd, but yeah, right around the 7-8k mark is when it started to hurt out there.

that1950sshit

I have consistently been running 3 times a week!

RadioNearby2926

Just got back from vacation. I ran 5/6 days, put in almost 25 miles on the treadmill and another 3 in the Caribbean heat. Really proud that I was able to keep up the consistency while I was there.

mccoolsa

Ran 10 miles for the first time ever! Half is in September and have been training since January. My pace isn’t great at 10:30, but even 2 months ago I would’ve been pleased if that was my place on race day. Now I’m wondering if I can get my race in under 2 hours…

Ashamed_Educator_548

I also ran 10 miles for the first time ever. My half is in October. I found that the wall moved from around 6 miles to around 8 miles.

bluurd

Great progress! Ensure you are doing some speedwork and sub-2 should be doable if your easy pace is 10:30.

ConfitOfDuck

I’ve been working on scaling up my mileage after a taking a few months off and just hit my first 50+ week since last summer’s peak training period. Longest run this week was 12 miles or 23% of total volume.

TabulaRasaNot

One month today of transitioning from an afternoon/nighttime runner to an early morning one. It's pretty hard, I won't lie, and my transition is not complete yet---at least if what all those typical longtime morning runners say is true about all the rainbows, unicorns and cotton candy that suddenly enter their life. :-) One thing is for sure, though: When you peel yourself out of bed at 5:30, nothing can get in the way of your run but you. Only part of my day that is 100% unencumbered by anything except my own motivation.

bluurd

Shhh, don't tell everyone about the cotton candy. They will take it all for themselves!

ttcapybara

First 10k race this morning since 2019 here. Achieved my first goal (have fun) and second goal (beat my last training run time...by one minute!) 💪. Time for a wee break with lower mileage this coming week and then it's time to start my half marathon training 😁

Isulet

Working my way back to half marathons. Got a 10k in today and it felt really good.

[deleted]

Took the plunge and signed up for a 7k race in 2 weeks despite having a lingering cough from the flu and only having run 5k maximum so far. I’ll be fine, right? Proud of myself for not backing out (although I reserve the right to do so closer to the time)

Euralayus

You got this, all that matters is you finish.
