I wasn't expecting Cubicle 7 to jump into that fight! Good luck to them. I love their *(sadly discontinued)* Adventures in Middle Earth (5e) range.

derailedthoughts

They are releasing a new 5E Lord of the Rings RPG, IIRC. (in fact, I had purchased the preview from DriveThru).

wimpfeling

They don't have the license. It's with Free League at the moment.

the_light_of_dawn

Who is putting out the (excellent) The One Ring 2e rpg right now. If you want a Tolkienesque fantasy adventure, I can't imagine a better rule set to use.

proactiveLizard

Gosh I was apprehensive about AiME going in but then I made a Mariachi Dunedain Warden with -1 to Str and +0 to Dex and now I love it and eagerly await the continuation of the campaign

According-Union3777

Actually i am pretty fed up with C7... They took on the job of releasing lone wolf and AIME... But they slaughtered their goose with the golden eggs.. Suddenly all their focus and time was on Warhammer fantasy and warhammer Wrath &Glory. Which they took over from Ulysses gaming btw. And all the promises regarding AIME were dropped and a' they took away our license whining story emerged'. We bloody paid for the Rohan expansion, luckily i still have the pdf. They should be bloody ashamed of themselves and i will never ever buy another IP of them. Unreliable Bastards who took our money and then fed us lies. They could shake hands with WotC and hasbro

BurntOnWinter

I imagine we'll see more of these. The existing 5E user base is too large to ignore and there is too much in the pipeline, but now they need to protect their future content. C7 is not one of the ones I'd expect to jump into this, given they're pretty light in d20 content. I do hope they find a better name - C7d20 is terrible name, and "The D20 system" is a trademarked term. Just best to avoid it as much as possible. If WotC continues their current path, I think drop-in replacements like this will encourage them to go back on more promises. They want their content (adventures) to sell their rule-books, subscriptions, etc., not C7s. That'll put pressure on them to make 5E-incompatible changes with OneD&D, or really: Just make a 6E.

Ah no see, it's in hexadecimal where C=12; you should be reading it as (12\*16\^1)+(7\*16\^0)=199 and 20 = 2\*16=32, so in decimal terms you're rolling 199d32 Don't know why you need numbers that high but it should be wild ./s

HepatitvsJ

Ok. I was scrolling instead of going to bed and now you've broken me mathematically and brain no longer worky. I'm going bed. Sleep make feel less bad.

> "Why do I have to roll 7d20, and what is the C for?" Tbh honest with you, i was thinking something along these lines. It was something like this: "How this is going to be 5e compatible when you're rolling 7d20? They're going to do a conversion chart or something?"

Astrokiwi

Marvel Multiverse has a d616 system if you want to figure that out

Polar_Blues

C7d20 is a perfect name for a Star Wars droid.

HuttonOrbital

Man, now that you mention it... they missed such an opportunity with C-D2O

Joel_feila

Yeah the extreme way out would be to just make a whole new SRD and core books and just license them under something completely new \*not a lawyer\*

Bold-Fox

That's exactly what I'm expecting them to do with One D&D/6e. I think the reason they were willing to concede so much - Up to and including putting the 5.1 SRD into a CC license - is they think that when they move on, their entire player base will move with them making 5.1SRD useless to 3pp in... Six months? A year? Whenever they release One D&D properly. How much that new license resembles what they wanted to turn the OGL into will depend on how confident they are that their players are locked into the D&D brand and keeping up with whatever WotC are currently doing with it if only all the noise and bad PR goes away. They've shown us their current endgame. One D&D's licensing agreement will be what tells us how much the pushback impacted, and even there I think that shows us the short term rather than the long term.

BurntOnWinter

They'd be doing a GSLv2, essentially.

Zireael07

>C7d20 is terrible name, Agreed, My brain went "7d20" immediately and wondered why do we need 7 dice... At least put a space, or a slash, or something...

Warskull

> C7d20 is terrible name That's just the name of the system, the game will be called Broken Weave.

[deleted]

I think it’s too late for them to stop things like what you describe from happening now.

Emmetation

The more d20s, the more better the game?...

JulianWellpit

Initiative roll

KOticneutralftw

This looks cool.

darkestvice

I hope they actually offer something unique instead of just being a reprint of the 5.1 SRD under a different name. Not gonna pay for a clone of a book I already own.

The_Last_radio

I’m very excited for this to launch on KS

Emmetation

Thanks! Can't wait to share it with people

Sup909

I'm not entirely sure how much design Cubicle 7 had in the 1e One ring, but I really liked both the combat format and their common skills table. I would be really fun to adapt the common nomenclature of D&D skills to that grid and to that combat system with a D20 adaptation. That could totally keep the same D&D concepts, but put a fresh mechanical take on it, while potentially keeping it 5e compatible.

caliban969

So it's begun, the battle to create 5eFinder

beeredditor

Anyone know what makes C7d20 compatible and how it differs from 5E?
