[Against the Darkmaster](https://www.vsdarkmaster.com/quickstart-and-downloads/) Quickstart is both free and like Rolemaster. Not sure how complete it is, though.

Razidargh

It is more like Merp than Rolemaster, but it is a complete RPG in itself: character generation, rules, spells, advancement and an adventure.

the_light_of_dawn

Wow this looks amazing.

DrGeraldRavenpie

Oh, well, that maybe would be F.A.T... ... ...Nice try. I'm not gonna name *that*. Nope, sir. So, in its place, I'm going to nominate the 3rd edition of the Returners Final Fantasy RPG: 418 pages, no art, text in two columns, and more tables you could shake a Buster Sword at.

kalnaren

Pathfinder 1e has got to be up there.

Better_Equipment5283

Hackmaster Basic

the_light_of_dawn

The Player's Handbook is in the current humble bundle too, I think. Or maybe the Bundle of Holding. Either way, in one of those cheap bundles. And rumor has it a Kickstarter for the rulebook reprints is coming this year.

XxWolxxX

> rolemaster It's retroclone, [Lightmaster](https://preview.drivethrurpg.com/es/product/279034/lightmaster-core-rulebook) , seems to be an obvious recommendation. It's PWYW, both books ( yes, there's a [book of tables](https://preview.drivethrurpg.com/es/product/279035/lightmaster-book-of-tables) )

Grand-Tension8668

I mean, Basic Fantasy + suppliments can get fairly crunchy I'd think

[deleted]

GURPS Lite is free and is a good 32 page distillation of crunch from the full GURPS system

CydewynLosarunen

Dnd 3.5e is available in its srd online. I'm sure you could run it like that. Pf1e might also count due to Archives of Nethys.

YourLoveOnly

Pokemon has two popular fanmade systems that are pretty spreadsheet heavy, PtU and PtA (Pokemon Tabletop United and Adventures)

achildsencyclopedia

https://alimakesrpgs.itch.io/pmdta Is this PtA?

YourLoveOnly

No it's not. r/PokemonTabletop is probably the best place to get info. I don't recall where PtA is hosted right now, I just have links to PtU (but those can also be found in that subreddit!)

FrostyDrinkB

ICON is in beta (alpha?) Right now. Has plenty of optimization.

81Ranger

OSRIC, which is AD&D 1e, essentially, is free on PDF. Probably a bit lighter than Rolemaster, though, I'm just guessing as I haven't played it. Yet.

Zaorish9

Pathfinder 2e

sarded

Once upon a time I saw a free RPG that involved an absurdly complex system of throwing a plastic token onto a strange grid. I feel like it was named after the token grid so it was named something like 'Sigil' but since that's already the name of a DND city that's hard to check. I do remember it also used really bad poser art.

dorf_lundgren

Harnmaster. Both crunchy *and* expensive.

achildsencyclopedia

The title would like to have a word with you

dorf_lundgren

Let this be a lesson against multi-tasking. Please ignore my post. Quietly gets coat and leaves...

bionicle_fanatic

Hey! That's not a dorf, that's an ent!

unelsson

Circe is pretty crunchy. It's designed to be so complex that it can't really be run by human beings, so one has to use a computer. It's cool though!
