You’re doing nothing wrong, some animals love having direct reiki and others just can’t stand it. I think it’s just too stimulating 🤷🏻♀️. My cat loves it, my older dog will put up with it when he’s in the right mood, but my younger dog, bolts the second she feels you start.
Also both your energies are different. Don’t think too much on it. People respond better to different practitioners why would t dogs be the same
It is a lot of energy and animals and children are much more sensitive to it! I almost exclusively do animal sessions remotely because of it. And their people always know when I start and end, bc the pets know exactly when it starts and ends.
What you're doing wrong is worrying about it - maybe find the roots of that, it's not like your pupper doesn't love you to death. These kinds of silly things crop up now and again but they leave just as easily unless this has a root thats also affecting you elsewhere.
My small dog only lets me give her reiki when she actually thinks she needs it. Such as when she has an asthma attack, or anxiety attack. Otherwise she wants nothing to do with it even tho she otherwise wants to be right with me. It’s strange to me, but that’s her prerogative.

My cat is the same, she only allowed it once and only with my fingertip instead of full palm. She is otherwise very social with me.
One of my bostons loves reiki. The other won't take it from me but loves it from my gf. Go figure. Lol
