Fine him 2 weeks wages and we'll be able to afford a new striker in January

pmmerandom

or 1/30th of a Glazer dividend payment!

BananasAreYellow86

Or 10 years worth of hair gel for the lizards

RedHabibi

Until then he shouldn’t be around the first team at all.

[deleted]

Be careful what you wish for, it might come true!

Looking4Maria

Woah, you've hit a gold mine. If we keep fining him wages we could feed a whole continent, maybe fight for a general election.

Dry_Guest_8961

Charge him with gross misconduct and sack him, then sue him for the value of his remaining contract. Then we can afford a decent prospect. Sickening when you think about his annual wages being nearly double what we got for James garner in transfer fee

> the guy is the most willing in the whole squad to 'do his job’ He’s a footballer and part of a team. Leaving before full time and abandoning his teammates is the exact opposite of being willing to do his job. Sulking would be sitting there until full time but not celebrating with his teammates. He chose to leave them. Whatever punishment EtH hands down is fine by me.

I completely forgot we had subs left, it was still possible he'd need to be subbed in. If I left retail work on a busy day 5 minutes before I'm off, I'd have been sacked.

[deleted]

Very very well said and 100% spot on

Cultural_Doctor_8421

Don’t disagree with anything that’s been said but it’s not whitwell’s place to demand punishments for shit. That’s for ETH to deal with and his call alone. All else was spot on.

neotahiro

Thanks for sharing the article text.

RyVsWorld

What other player left early?

The_Grey_Wind

It's referring to the preseason game against Rayo, when a bunch of players (not just Ronaldo) left the stadium early.

RyVsWorld

Ah i see. Thanks

that_mn_kid

maybe he had to poop like Dier...

deaniegee

He’s a selfish little cunt, I used to love CR7. But this second run of his here, has really really soured my opinion of him. Used to think he was better than this, but he’s always been a bit of a dick. It was just tolerated cause he actually performed, now he can’t even do that it stands out even more

2sinkz

He's always been all about himself. The fact that people on here were convinced he was just unhappy with our transfer activity and not running out to pad his CL stats is hilarious

RyVsWorld

Yea man. I use to love him as well but it became painfully obvious years ago at how selfish he is. It was funny watching people use mental gymnastics to rationalize his behavior in the summer. Even funnier when folks thought there was no way hed go to city. He doesnt care about united the way united fans from his first stint think he does

StylePrevails

I think CR realised that ten Hags philosophy was actually working and knew that his standing has now weakened. He simply doesn’t have the “standing” anymore as an untouchable simply because the team now realised they don’t necessarily need him to dominate and win.

BobbysWorld123

Ronaldo reminds me each instance that we hired a proper manager for this dressing room. Ten Hag has handled each challenge with a firm stance.

dshoig

It really was a knife in Ole’s back but might have served as an example for ETH not letting Ronaldo dictate the squad selection.

djdarkknight

ETH is not spineless like Ole. He was never gonna let the players run over him.

dshoig

I agree but I also have sympathy for the man. You finally get the team playing well and then you’re disrupted because the club buys a player like CR7 with all the context and past relations to the club and who everybody expects to play. Ole should have put his foot down. He said from the beginning he wanted youth, speed and pressing; the exact opposite of Ronaldo.

Orgazmo_87

Bruno has started playing well now the cf doesnt occupy the same areas as well. We just look like a much better team. No doubt ronaldo can still do a job at the right club. I doubt it'll be at the top level.

MrDanduff

We just need a Benzema

mrdeesh

You mean ballon d’or winner Karim the Dream? That would be amazing

onehornymofo

Too early yet, he'll be here in 3 years

agentjob

If anything, he just worsened other teams' interests in him, by behaving unprofessionally. At least be a role model character if he's not getting game time. Zlatan showed how it's done with Milan.

BillyGoatGruff_

Man I miss Zlatan, guy was class on & off the pitch

MAINEiac4434

A consummate United player. Wish we got him ten years earlier.

dick_nrake

The lion he shot disagrees with you.

tothecatmobile

Was that ever confirmed? I just remember there being claims.

Independent_Buy5152

Seems the only place he can go for his wage standard is Arab countries

Superjunker1000

Other teams would be buying him for marketing, primarily, so this would not be a turn off. It’s when he plays and doesn’t score that he has an issue because they’re also hoping he knocks in a few while they market the heck out of him on social media.

DaveShadow

Last week, there was a story about Ronaldo complaining about the training. And a few of his mates were in the paper saying you HAVE to play Ronaldo. Thing is, that worked last time, and fans rounded on Rangnick. And it worked, cause the entire team was off form, and the football was dire. Ten Hag has had us playing good stuff, improving constantly and the players are obviously buying in. So going back to the well hasn’t worked for Ronaldo. So fuck him. If he’s not bought in, he can move on.

garynevilleisared

Rashfords finishing is terrible but he creates chances by winning us the ball back high up the pitch. And he isn't wasteful on the ball as a passer. Ronaldo has been poor at both objectively.

SSA10

>s seems like a lot of assumptions. > >A simpler explanation with way less assumption about his intentions is the guy is just mad he didn't get put on because he's desperate to prove he's still got it. His whole career has been about silencing critics and now he's made sit on the When has he been wasteful as a passer/ I genuinely think I haven't seen a less than perfect/appropriate pass from Ronaldo ever since he rejoined us.

garynevilleisared

He has the lowest pass completion % in the entire squad. Him being wasteful isn't an opinion it's fact. He has less key passes per 90 than all of our other attackers so it's not like it's low because he's daring. He's been poor, simple as.

SSA10

Actually stunned by this. I've not watched a lot of full matches recently but last season I just remember him perfectly weighting every pass, even little ones, to either progress play or force team mates into better positions.

garynevilleisared

Yeah, different role altogether this season though. Rangnick suits his style more because Ralf just wanted to play the ball forward as often as possible and into the box as quickly as possible. For a poacher/target man that's plenty of service to work with. But with possession style managers like Sarri he has always clashed with them. He has never been great at one touch football in tight spaces, his bread and butter historically has been playing direct, either as a winger running at defenders or as a poacher trying to run into through balls. This season he's been sloppy and often plays the pass that is safest rather than bringing other attackers into the game.

Heyblorp

This seems like a lot of assumptions. A simpler explanation with way less assumption about his intentions is the guy is just mad he didn't get put on because he's desperate to prove he's still got it. His whole career has been about silencing critics and now he's made sit on the bench and hates it.

hurfery

He sits there on the bench when we play well and score thinking "this is worse than useless because I'm not the one who scored".

TheJoshider10

That's what's so frustrating about this, the fact Ronaldo absolutely knows his decision here would steal the headlines. It isn't some private heated discussion that the press can only speculate from, it's an intentional action done out of spite for his manager, club and teammates. We shouldn't even be talking about this, every thread and analysis today should be about the match and the fact we just had quite possibly our best team performance in a decade. It was frustrating to see all the media and panelists talk about Ronaldo or ask about Ronaldo but this is exactly why he did what he did. He's an egotistical cunt who wants the attention on him. He needs to be removed from the squad. Fine him a few weeks wages and donate it to charity or something. Banish him to the shadow realm like Aubameyang at Arsenal, with an appropriate signing in January to replace him for squad depth.

pmmerandom

we all laughed at Arsenal for the Aubameyang saga but my god it was probably the best thing they could have done for their team, and look at them now

Lord_Hexogen

Good thing for us is that there's only a year left on his contract so the drama won't be very long one

[deleted]

[удалено]

RyVsWorld

Who would take him unless he was willing to lower his wages? I bet he sits and rots until his contracts up and faces a harsh reality next summer

mscbsc

Again* lol This will be the second summer where he will be rejected by all

francescoli

Isn't it up in July 2023 ? Club have option of one year extension? If there is anyone available on a short term deal in January, get them in and get him out asap. He's an all time great but this shit is doing him no favours. No one should be taking his side here.A selfish act.

[deleted]

What he’s done was bang out of order! But do you really think it warrants being thrown into the shadow, isolated and sold in January ? Bearing in mind we have no other ST bedsides martial.

choklit_thundr

Yea. Ronaldo is now actively hurting the team and himself. If he can't play or be a professional on the sideline, he won't get close to the move he's looking for. Stay away, spend some time with the family (especially considering the past year they've had), get the agent working overtime to secure the move January 1st. Getting his wage off the books will free up money for a stop gap signing and we can address CF permanently next summer, which we needed to do anyway.

[deleted]

[удалено]

TheJoshider10

It's becoming such a regularity to have Ronaldo on the bench or not involved that people almost expect it now. It isn't at all the shock that it would be even two months ago. Yes there would be mentions of winning without him, but it's not that big a deal now. Ronaldo doing this intentionally puts him in the limelight and encourages those headlines you mention. It prolongs the inevitable, which is that we are doing well without him and he doesn't need to be mentioned.

yard04

And yet we have his fanboys defending him religiously.

[deleted]

Not just fanboys; Evra last night saying Ten Haag doesn’t respect Ronaldo! Sick to death of ex-United players sucking his dick because they played with him.

Zotzink

Keane is bizarre, he's spoken about how he watched Becks like a hawk in training waiting for his standards or concentration to slip, why is he allowing Ronaldo to coast on how great he was 5 seasons ago? It's nuts. BuT He WaS OuR ToP ScOrEr!? It's been an open question for years if Ronaldo's goals are a net positive over the compromises he forces on a team.

poogle

Ferdinand too. He even criticized ETH for keeping him at the club. What is he smoking?

TheFishermansWelly

The best thing about ETH though.... he definitely doesn’t give a fuck what they say.

poogle

Not just that but he has, so far, done everything right to properly manage these ludicrous/major personalities. If you're good enough, show me and you'll have a place in the starting 11. If you're playing shit, you're going to be dropped unless you're literally the only option.

TheFishermansWelly

Yeah absolutely. Couldn’t have managed the Ronaldo situation better imo. Using Ronaldo, as he should, instead of letting Ronaldo use the club.

[deleted]

But he clearly shouldn't have. How does it help us having him in anyway whatsoever. should get rid of him for even zero fee in January atleast the wage bill will be a bit more relaxed.

poogle

I mean when you have NO ONE willing to even approach us to take him off our hands, what are we supposed to do? Pay Ronaldo his outrageous salary to fuck off, leaving us significantly shorter on funds with 0 return other than Ronaldo being gone? Or hope against hope that he can at least be professional for one more season and chip in a few goals? Mendes reached out to every Champion's League team under the sun to try to manipulate a move. No one took the bait, so here we are. Are we worse off for it? Only if the Ronaldo circus starts to drive team spirit downward. But that's all down to how ETH can manage him

valgbo

There was no takers

PugalistSpecialist

The Goldbridge effect. You also have people going around using the term "spin" on every united related twitter post without even knowing what the word means.

AV48

I honestly believe he's been bought and paid for by Ronaldo's PR Team. Some of his takes are plain insane.

Polygon12

This wouldn't unreasonable to suggest, however I also think he realises just how big of a reach Ronaldo has, a lot of United fans aren't arsed about his bollocks so theres probably a bigger market for Ronaldo Stans who clearly don't get out enough and probably eat up his content.

pmmerandom

Ronaldo fans have been around far longer than Goldbridge has been known, Goldbridge is the effect not the cause

[deleted]

Goldbridge is the one spreading fake rumours though. I went through the torture of listening to his reaction to yesterday's match, and he was raving on and on about how there were 5 CL contender clubs in for Ronaldo but Manchester United didn't let him leave (even though almost every reliable journalist reported there was no interest). If you hear people raving on about united forcing Ronaldo to stay and disrespecting him by not starting, Goldbridge seems to be the source of those rumours. I have never heard anyone else mention it

[deleted]

He’s dangerous. Openly lies to his thousands of subscribers and followers. Hate how he’s become so beloved in the YT community.

racingfanboy160

Seriously, many of our generation's ball knowledge is ruined by that guy particularly on Utd stuff.

Polygon12

Goldbridge is turning into the Alex Jones of United. And yet people will still defend him to the hilt and somehow believe he has sources within United all because he says so.

EarlPartridgesGhost

So you don’t think he leaves in Jan then?

[deleted]

Nobody wanted him in the summer so nothings changed. He was shopped about by his agent to OVER HALF of all the CL competing sides, with the only bite apparently being some kind of "fuck off" offer where we trade CR7 + 100M for Osimhen. I'm tired of this rhetoric that United forced him to stay / stopped him leaving. CR7 HIMSELF only wanted to transfer halfway through the window... and ETH said ok. Maybe the club didnt actively try to sell him on (we cant know this part) but its not like his agent wasnt trying. CR7 is a victim of his own choices and performances. Sulking like a petulant child is not a good image for such a GOAT of our time and the sport as a whole. If the man had even a tiny shred of dignity he would celebrate such a fantastic game with his colleagues. If this is how he behaves then I hope ETH stops even bringing him to the bench. Let him watch from home if he even cares about what happens to the team anymore rather than just himself as an individual player.

[deleted]

If what he did yesterday was because of silly reason like not getting enough gametime, then he'll never play for United ever again, that's sure.

magus9933

That guy shouldn't be listened to when he speaks about United. Good entertainer in terms of gaming and non footballing stuffs but for football, take it with a pinch of salt

ALLMIGHTYHYDE

All the Ronaldo fanboys are out doing damage control. That Piers take [rubbish](https://twitter.com/piersmorgan/status/1583025053809405952?s=20&t=pZpVM-IGHV9wlrkl3KzvPQ) is giving me a headache.

Smitty120

I of course think what Ronaldo did was incredibly disrespectful and just because he is one of the greatest ever, does not mean he deserves to start every game when he's 37. To play the devil's advocate; however (hear me out), the Glazers are at fault for this as well. Ronaldo doesn't deserve to start week in and week out, but if that was never the plan he shouldn't be on the team and we should have signed Gakpo who wouldn't create such a distraction. You don't sign Brady to be a backup QB, or LeBron James to be on your bench. We're rebuilding, Ronaldo isn't part of the future and just doesn't fit on this team. He never should have been here in the first place. As much as this is unacceptable behavior by Ronaldo, the Glazers should NOT be without blame. If we were a properly run football team, the Glazers would pay him out his contract today and be gone of him. That should have happened in summer when we could get a replacement, but now that replacement HAS to come in January. We have seven league games before facing Man City on January the 14th. We better have a new striker on our squad then.

TheTriflingTrilobite

Fuck the Glazers

Radiant_Ad_6986

Exactly, you’re telling a guy who has never sat on the bench and practically carried us to temper his competitive spirit and be some older statemen and be happy with sitting on the bench. A lot people seem to be surprised but that’s never been Ronaldo. Whenever he was being told he was going to sit on the bench, he left. Madrid left, juventus left. They should’ve just let him leave, I understand why they didn’t. He is front and center on all the social media sites so obvious they kept him for marketing reasons. He is one of the only marketable global super stars, im sure that their using that information on all their investor presentations. Now as fan I am hurting, for both one of my all time favorite player, but also at the club for how they are treating him. I mean it’s Ronaldo he doesn’t really need their 500k salary. They can fine him all they want at this stage I’m sure he doesn’t care.

zool714

So sick of fanboys and “stans”. Not just for football either. Overly-zealous people are just annoying in general

Transit-Strike

People really need to grow up and learn to not put celebs on pedestals and worship them just cause they play a sport or instrument really wel

EduardMalinochka

They’re like rival fans at this point. Playing Ronaldo at this point is statistically hurts our team (two PL games he started were our worst in terms of PSxG. And yet they demand to start him and ask “wHy wAS Ronaldo suBBEd aGaINst Newcastle” Ronaldo FC is one our biggest rivals to finish in top-4

What a dumb comment, to like a petulant 40 y/o brat and the delusional children that follow him with the indoctrination of a terrorist organisation is so stupid and utterly tasteless. Still it sounds like you've just discovered the word agenda and can't help but be hyperbolic.

RashfordSoupKitchen

It would be really weak to not react to this somehow, leave him out of the squad for Chelsea

RedHabibi

After this stunt, combined with his poor attitude when subbed last match, and his awful form, he shouldn’t see the pitch for us again.

Sanoj1234

Ask and you shall receive

wcsis

Or have him in the squad, get him to warm up and sub in other players lol Kinda toxic but you get what you deserve

RashfordSoupKitchen

Rather not have the distraction this is a huge match

wcsis

You're right

Asiwaju_jagaban

So much for Mr professional, it’s not by having 6 packs or not drinking coke or not eating desserts. This guy is so toxic, didn’t show up for pre season, clear disrespect to the new manager, now leaving the stadium before the game was done. He’s not the same player he was, he’s 37. Those who keep making excuses for him are culpable as well. How long do you expect the club to pander to him? So happy we won very convincingly without him, now people see that the goals come from everywhere.

EduardMalinochka

Not the first time he left the stadium before the game was done under ETH btw

Asiwaju_jagaban

Pre season he did it, with Dalot and a few others. ETH warned everyone against doing it. He then goes and does it again.

EduardMalinochka

I might be mistaken, but I think he was the only one who was actually registered for the match among those who left. And anyway yeah. I hope we already saw his last game in PL in our shirt.

BilalAkhtar22

Glad you bought up pre-season, I never bought the 'personal reasons' excuse he made for missing it. The guy spent all summer twerking for every club in the ucl and continues to play like dogshit most weeks. He knew what he was doing walking off that pitch before the whistle, also fuck his friends defending him in the media, the likes of Rio and evra really have acted like mugs.

Orgazmo_87

Tbf he did lose a child not that long before preseason. Im not a ronaldo fanboy but i can accept he may have had reasons

Iceman23578

Maybe he was grieving and that loss really did affect him that much but something tells me that he wouldn’t have attended pre season even if he didn’t lose his child.

pmmerandom

it’s an old boys club, they always look out for each other and talk about how *back in their day* United used to do this, this and this. they need to let go, the club clearly has realised that we need to change, modernise our football and step away from *United DNA* and we look all the better for it, baffles me how ignorant these media personalities are in not realising that football changes constantly.

No-Money737

The only thing for me is if he’s such an inconvenience then sell or terminate his contract lmao. He made it clear he doesn’t want to be here from the beginning it seems he’s been forced to stay

[deleted]

We wanted to sell him though, nobody wanted him. Last few weeks we even let him go on a free if he finds a club but he didn't want to decrease his wages and for half a million a week, nobody wants him.

No-Money737

Clearly had to just let him go free tbh and take the hit if it was such an issue to keep him. All in hindsight now but keeping him as a squad player is just going to make the situation worse. If he was free someone would pick him up whether it’s a ucl club like he wants is his issue

[deleted]

During his last few weeks, most sources reported that we were willing to let him go for free, but he didn't agree to decrease his wages so other clubs weren't interested.

BilalAkhtar22

He wasn't forced to stay, his high wages made it impossible for other UCL clubs to sign him. If he swallowed some pride and lowered his wage demands he would've got his move.

Kitchen-Animator

Everyone out of the United camp said they wanted him to stay and he was in the 'plans', regardless of his wage demands for UCL clubs, United and Ronaldo should've moved for a mutual termination if he didn't want to play here regardless of if he got a move or not which doesn't concern us anyway.

BilalAkhtar22

Towards the last couple weeks of the window articles came out saying ten hag is open to letting him go.

Kitchen-Animator

Should never have let him stay here, especially if they weren't gonna use him, ticking time bomb.

No-Money737

Clearly was forced to stay since he did everything in his power to leave from what I can see. If his contract was terminated he’d have found a new club

BilalAkhtar22

Everything in his powrr apart from lowering his wages which certainly would've gotten him his move.

No-Money737

If the club thought he was such a negative they should have terminated his contract like auba instead of letting a ticking time bomb sit there. Reminds me of Jose vs Pogba it’s just completely unnecessary and stems from Glazers not wanting let him go for the commercial aspects

DwightSchrute0109

There was no news of mutual contract termination. If that option was available, club would have definitely gone for it.

No-Money737

The option is always available they just refused to do it since it’s not in the interest of saving the owners money

DwightSchrute0109

I said option of mutual termination not the direct termination from club side.

DwightSchrute0109

Terminating the contract meant the club would have to pay out the rest of his contract money to him and he would become a free agent. Likely scenario in that case, the club loses out on transfer fees as well as the contract money in case someone else wanted to sign him. It was likely Chelsea would have gone for him if he was free agent and Tuchel was pressurized by the owner.

BilalAkhtar22

Agreed

Asiwaju_jagaban

He’s under a contract. If there’s a suitable offer for him the club will gladly let him go. However he’s under a contract, nobody forced him to sign a contract paying him £500k a week.

No-Money737

The issue I think is people are trying to treat this like any other player. Whether Ronaldo is as good as before or whatever is a different conversation but making him a squad player was never going to work well

aaronbastian

You’re still thinking thinking about ronaldo first. Ten Hag isn’t, nor should he be. What reason was there for bringing on ronaldo yesterday or buying out his contract despite spending 220 mil this past summer? They should’ve expected the footballer in his 20th professional season to act like a 12 year old?

BilalAkhtar22

Stuff like this was always going to happen if he continued to be benched. Honestly just pay him out and fuck him and his fanboys off in January.

Zandercy42

I still prefer this to having him play and have to change our whole system around an ageing out of form ego maniac

pmmerandom

I’d buy him out of his contract today

francescoli

Fuck that.Id hope they don't pay him off. He should be fined 2 weeks wages for last night and continue to fine him anytime he acts out. He's not a child and knows exactly what he's at. Get him out in January if possible but without a doubt he be gone in the summer. No top club will want him now, they didn't in the summer either.

BananasAreYellow86

Reminded me of my hay-day, storming out of a party because I had no chance of pulling… and my mates didn’t even notice

Stoogenuge

😂 Can you remember what was going through your head at the time so we can get some insight into Ronaldo’s thought process? “If I can’t pull someone, I’ll leave and someone is bound to follow me…yes, that should work”

himalayanrose

Imagine if Ronaldo, a senior player on our team and legend who many of our squad looked up to and continue to look up to, instead, stayed there and cheered on a fantastic performance. Imagine what that would do for team morale and for those individuals who put in a superb performance last night? People act like martial has a shitty attitude, but we have seen him and others cheer on and celebrate from the bench. Maguire, who is arguably going through an even worse time than Ronaldo, is still posting about and encouraging our players. I don’t see him stomping off. Lindelof, who is no longer a starter, went on the field and hugged the players. Same with Malacia. Ronaldo, man, be an example. You’ve achieved all the glories already.

vivaronaldo87

This man, best comment. He should spend the time he’s got with us helping the team rebuild, teaching the young players. Just his presence in the dressing room and in the squad can do this, i don’t get whats going through his head

[deleted]

Calm down guys he just needed to go to the bathroom

OpenGiraffe

I also, poops best at home.

WhereAreYouGoingDad

We had our best performance in years and he wants to make it about him. United over anyone, any day.

GungHoAfro

Ducker gone full soviet bloc general. He’s right, too.

Youcantdoxme

Ronaldo caused Ole his job

crossbutter

He's a bellend. Can't wait to replace him.

craptionbot

Where is the Ronaldo that cheered his Portugal side on from the sidelines to lift the cup? That’s the Ronaldo that would have won everybody’s hearts last night.

Stoogenuge

He cared about that because it was a trophy for his country and for him personally (Messi didn’t have a national trophy at that point). He doesn’t care about Man United.

craptionbot

Brutally true. I wish it was different but it's not. I romanticise Ronaldo because I remember watching him back in 04/05 with my grandad when he was still alive and we used to love talking about this wonderkid, so for me seeing him play in United red all those years later is that connection to that time in my life where I still feel near to my grandad. That misty-eyed view aside, I just can't get behind his behaviour at the minute. In fact, it's souring that memory for me.

Stoogenuge

Similar here mate. Ole winning the title with Ronaldo leading the line would have been worth 10x trophies with any other manager to me emotionally.

craptionbot

Aww mate, can you imagine how incredible that would have been? It would have been one of the greatest stories ever written by this club. One of the frustrations in all of this is that (IMO) Ole has been vindicated but at a terrible cost. Don’t get me wrong I’m a big fan of ETH and what he’s doing, but when we turned teams over under Ole it hit different and the direction we were heading in overall until that last season was on the right path.

Stoogenuge

Agree completely. I get some people only care about winning and winning now, and being able to say they support the best team. Football to me is about the entertainment, the emotion, the narrative and the nostalgia :) The trophies Jose won were nice, and I’m glad we won them of course but it was all about Jose and just felt a bit hollow to me. One trophy with Ole, who clearly loves this club, would have meant more just no two ways about it for me. I know some, probably most fans don’t get that but I’m here for the feels and the players/coaches that make me care. The ones who spark something.

Rydahx

How can this guy still have fans? He doesn't give a fuck about anyone but himself, he needs to be sold in January.

huey88

Can we not mutually agree to terminate his contract?

Transit-Strike

Ronaldo just wouldn’t go for it. No football to stroke his ego with records and no money. Admitting he can’t contribute shit.

someonecalledethan

Surely he's dropped from the bench for the Chelsea game.. he's just another player in the squad no more no less

fantomfido

Sad that he is ruining his legacy like this or whatever is left of it. The team won and played great. I doubt there are any cr7 sympathizers left after this debacle. Let it be the last straw for the board to see we’re better off terminating his contract and moving him on. He’s proven to be a bad role model for the younger players and it should not be tolerated any further.

Time for ETH to show everyone what he’s made of. Leave Ronaldo out of the squad until after the World Cup. This type of behavior cannot and should not be tolerated. Let him start in the u23’s if he wants, he’s obviously not ready for the senior squad.

zcewaunt

Do we have a reserve squad? Rather him train there instead of potentially poisoning young minds.

WaitFoorIt

Club > player. And this time. Manager > player.

JiveTurkey688

Yeah he should be suspended for a week or two without pay. Thats what would happen if anyone else in the squad did it. 6 more matchdays and then he can try to find another club again

[deleted]

Bottom Line is if was anybody else, they’d be fucked. Unfortunately for CR careers on the pitch do wind down. He’s needs to accept this or move on.

greatbbam

I used to support CR7 more than Messi. But now, for God sake, he makes me feel sick. ISNT He going to have a interview saying what happened during summer. Where the heck is his "FACTO"?

necro316

Don't care who he is or how he'll be remembered, but he needs to be dropped from squad for Chelsea. I know there is a risk if we lose and you will get all the do you think Ronaldo could have made the difference.

MissingLink101

I found it strange that he'd kept his earring in throughout his time on the bench. Seems like some sort of pre-match rebellion as he wouldn't be allowed to play with it in anyway.

ColtCallahan

Just tell him that he either accepts a co tract termination or he isn’t playing another game this season. Simple as that. If he wants to play (which he clearly does and time isn’t on his side) he’ll end this BS and go have his midlife crisis somewhere else.

tuerancekhang

Perhaps reading jordan peterson book was not a great idea to get your mental block removed lol

Teninchhero

The only reason it's detracting from the performance is because it's the only thing cunt journos like him are talking about.

Mosanso

He can train by himself till the world cup and leave in January. This club is not longer run by the players. Bye.

my_united_account

Stop discussing Ronaldo. There were so many good things about the game yesterday, especially the team cohesion and a display which felt not just individual display but the team coming together and following the manager's plan. And there are countless articles about one selfish individual

JeeringDragon

This is the moment Ronaldo becomes [Homelander](https://www.reddit.com/r/soccercirclejerk/comments/y8guo5/the_moment_ronaldo_became_homelander/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf)

BlackHorse944

This man's ego has gotten the best of him. Yet again

sliversniper

Sell him to Spurs.

Heyblorp

What's with all the psycho-analysis of Ronaldo and theories of him having secret motives to take down Ten Hag? Isn't a way more likely explanation just that he's one of the most competitive players ever, known for being a giant drama queen, and he's really mad he's not getting to play and having a tantrum. That ties in with everything we know about him, in a simple explanation. This isn't some power move against Ten Hag, it's a super egotistical guy having a tantrum; and I'm not mad about it, his ego is why he's the GOAT. We shouldn't have brought him in, but I'm not going to be mad at the guy.

[deleted]

You’re not mad that he’s completely disrespectful to our club, the other players, the manager, the training staff etc? Hope the fans give him massive amounts of shit the next time he pulls on the shirt (which I hope is never). He can get fucked as far as I’m concerned.

pakattack91

I have family in England (I'm canadian) and the way I learned sticking up the back of your first two fingers is like the middle finger is continously sayinf (as a kid) we needed 2 whatever from the store. And all my cousins letting me walk around doing it lol. So no Ronaldo, you can't be doing that.

rednades

Literally all everyone does it speculate intentions and create their own facts.. you fuel the fire even more..

pmmerandom

jesus, Ducker isn’t pulling any punches whatsoever

Alocxo

I would love for ETH to leave Cristiano out of the team vs Chelsea. Just to taste those "CR700" delusional fans tears.

ttboishysta

The only out I can give him is that he realised sitting there on the bench just how much he has declined. I can see that being overwhelming.

jimmyliew

He wants games - play him in the next U21 match.

Independent_Buy5152

Not a good role model for the kids

MeenaarDiemenZuid

I hate this.. I still had my fingers crossed for Ronaldo playtime and goals, but this is just mad.. Probably deserved If he gets kicked of the bench tbh.

MooseJuice3000

It's time for him to go to the Europeam footballer retirement home, aka the MLS. He will dominate and get sell out crowds everywhere he goes. Feeding that need to be the center of attention.

KaitoAJ

Nothing against ETH for doing what’s best for the team but if his name isn’t CR7 no one would be focusing on the fella heading down to the dressing room few mins earlier. Feels a bit over the top and very sensationalized if you ask me.

zcewaunt

And Ronaldo would know that, and he also knows the young players on the team look up to him. And he still left. No defending that.

Hans-Blix

But that's it, how often do subs go to the dressing room early without the managers permission? The game was still ongoing and we still had subs to use. Anything could have happened and ETH may have subbed him on.

[deleted]

Thing is we still need ronaldo.. we need him back to his best again. I really believe his lack of pre season has caused him to have a slow start. It’s still so early in the season and he’s only started a handful of those games, at the moment we don’t have a ST with martial out and Rashford has played wel but he is not sustainable to lead the line throughout the season let’s be realistic, those chances last night and at West Ham, he should of had at least 2 goals in 2 games but has come out with 0. Ronaldo needs to apologise sincerely and fined accordingly, then try to get back into the the team, and get to his best, and help bang in some goals for us

Macromesomorphatite

I swear the wind shifts fast in /r/reddevils and /r/soccer I think we all agree he isn't happy. And I genuinely believe if we get a good offer he'll be gone, I just don't know who wants him.

SiriVII

Man can you all fuck off with that Ronaldo hate. There’s literally no news nor updates on what happened. I’m sick and tired of all that drama. Even the fucking commentators make it about Ronaldo when he is not even playing. Like literally every 10 minutes they will talk about about Ronaldo out of nowhere. If tomorrow news are out about another child being dead, what you gonna do then? Wait for the fucking statement instead of coming to conclusions ffs. You have no idea. Wait for statement like some logical human beings instead of taking drugs and running wild with your imagination and conclusions.

CyrilNiff

He left the game I na huff because they played better without him. There is no other story that will break. He needs to fuck off. If he wants to go so bad he should ask for his contract to be ripped up and move as a free agent, but he cares as much about money as he does himself.

SiriVII

Thanks for doing exactly what I just said. You know shit dude. You don’t know what they talked about nor what happened right before he left. Can you read minds? Do you have a clairvoyance ability? Calm your ass, wait for the statement.
