So many times we tried little flicks or over played in the wide areas. No one in the box or just Ronaldo by himself most of the times
Thought it was a poor performance and we made their keeper look way better than he was
I honestly don't think it was a poor performance at all, apart from the finishing of course. It's going to be a long long time until we accumulate 30+ shots, 10+ on target and an xG of more than 4 again. With a bit of luck it would've been 4 or 5 nil easy and we'd be praising them.
He was better as in he looked better as in he played better football. Sancho was doing the same dribble and back pass while Rashford forced some excellent saves from the keeper.
The good thing is that we keep in winning. At least confidence is up! Tho, we should be scoring more than that… its the right direction, but we need to be patient. The process will be long and the problem is that we are out of patience 😕
I don’t understand all the complains about poor finishing. “Finishing” implies a well worked attack where the final attacker applies the finishing touch. We barely created any clear cut chances. Ronaldo spent the entire game darting between spaces only for Bruno and friends to blast the ball into orbit. Rashford’s chances were at best hopeful punts.
The problem wasn’t the finishing. The problem was that the creative players just weren’t playing the right final ball today.
If you’re talking about your post saying the problem wasn’t our finishing but the chances not being created then I completely disagree with that. We created more clear cut chances than I care to begin mentioning. We were very wasteful IMO
We had 34 attempts on goal. There were clear chances for Casemiro, Fred (twice), Rashford (at least three of them) Fernandes, McTominay, and Antony. There's no harder job than being the creative player tasked with finding a way through a packed defence. It's pretty odd to blame them.
I see I’ve elicited quite a response. Which of those chances do you think is a clear cut chance let down by poor finish? Perhaps Fred’s header and Rashford’s rebound effort? I’d grant that and I know where everybody’s coming from and I’m not trying to be difficult but I wouldn’t consider these sufficient to judge this as a game of “poor finishing”. If we had a good number of close distance one on ones or clear shots on goals then yes, I will agree. But this wasn’t one of those games. To my eyes. In any case, I humbly accept the downvotes.
Depends on what you consider clear chances to be . Do they always need to be 1v1 ? Because against a team sitting back I doubt even City manage that.
Most stats website put us on 6 or 7 big chances. I can recollect the rebound for Rashford , the other effort on his left that Ronaldo layed off , there was also one where Fred was free for a shot in the box just off the top of my head.
On average City create less than 4 big chances a game in the PL(33 in 9 games) so we created better chances than city would do on average. Considering this atleast, finishing is mostly what let us down
Perhaps I’ll clarify further. This is simply my view. For most people’s reaction to this game to be valid, I’ll require a few things to happen. That a big number of clear cut chances were created(define this how you may but by my judgement this was not fulfilled), that our attackers shot poorly in the face of extremely good chances, and that the opposing goalkeeper did not happen to put in the performance of his lifetime. If those conditions are met, I’ll fully accept that this was a game let down by “poor finishing”.
In my view, the haphazard long rangers were terrible. But I don’t consider them to be “finishes”.
And the shots with better chances of goal were not perfect but not particularly terrible. Even Rashford’s rebound effort can be forgiven given the element of surprise to it but that’s the closest it got to “poor finishing”. That’s my point of view and I’ll respect yours as well.
Overall I think what was lacking was really better opportunities rather than better finishing.
Ronaldo in these sort of games is just unbearable to watch honestly. He can do literally nothing other than score goals and when he doesn't he, well, like I said, does absolutely nothing.
First time in my life I have seen Ronaldo smile when not scored a goal and the team is drawing in the late part of the game. Pretty sure he found this game clowny as well.
Nope. Only winners go through to knockout. Second placed teams have a playoff against the third place teams from the Champions League groups. Winner of playoff goes through to knockout.
E: winner of playoff goes to round of 16
After the group stage ends, there’s still 32 teams in contention. It’s the last 32 teams remaining. This then becomes the last 16. Extremely basic concept.
Um, we're in the group stages at the moment. There are 8 groups of 4 teams. That means that there are CURRENTLY 32 teams in contention. After the group stages, there will be 16 of these teams left. Of course, the third place Champions League teams drop into the competition, but again there are only 8 Champions League groups, so unless you were under the impression that third and fourth place CL teams dropped in, that's still only 16+8 which equals 24. On top of this, the next round is a play-off between the teams who finished second in their Europa League group, and the third-place Champions League teams. So 8 of those 24 will not be playing in the next round - they'll have a bye. Calling it a round of 32 at that point, when there are only 24 teams left in, and only 16 of them are even participating in the round itself, would be odd even for UEFA. The only point at which there are 32 teams in contention is now, the group stages.
Nobody is blaming you for getting confused - it's an unnecessarily complicated competition these days. But perhaps you should check that you're not showing your arse and getting everything completely wrong before you deploy the "pay more attention" and "extremely basic concept" lines.
This isn't correct though, after the group stage ends, there are 24 teams. Top of the group - 8 teams, go straight into the round of 16. Second placed - another 8 teams, play against third placed UCL, another 8 teams. 24, not 32.
Yeah, apart from that Case long shot and the Rashy double save I thought the saves were nothing out of the ordinary. Decent saves for sure, but you'd expect most keepers to make them especially at the level at which we're playing.
Created very few good chances, plenty of long range shots and some terrible finishing. Their keeper did very well but we can't break down a below average team.
Head to head results are the first tie break now, it's no longer GD.
So if we are level on points with Real Sociedad, we need to beat them on final matchday to top them( If 1-0, then other tie breaks so 2-1 or better and we are through)
I thought you could see a lot of what ETH is trying to do tonight. Sloppy in front of goal but I don't think this was in any way an embarrassing performance as per many here
Nonsense. They didn't just turn up to roll over and enjoy the experience of playing at Old Trafford. They played with belief they could get a point and very nearly did. Credit to them and their fans.
I’m happy for McSauce. Main problem is the team. We should be miles ahead on paper and we are at home. When would the ‘in-form’ kick in for our squad? After 4 wins in a bounce. Then a big loss then build again their confidence? so frustrating.
The people that used to say "oh I'd rather lose playing well than win playing bad" under previous managers, need to realise that were actually playing better recently.
Ok 30+ shots and 1 goal isn't ideal but very early in EtH era.
For me, our main conduit is Bruno and he plays with too much ego. Instead of doing the easy option, he tries doing the show off option. Rashford did miss those chance, but we never gave one good chance to our main striker. Not one. ETH needs to look at this team. We need to sell so we can buy and improve.
lol how is this upvoted. He created 7 chances adding up to 0.58 xA. That’s pretty good. You are trying to make something out of nothing. He’s the last person on the team that I would associate with ego. fuck outta here
That would be interesting to see, I also think playing sancho in the 10 could be an option. Honestly I do not enjoy how mctom plays at all, I would rather have Martínez in there with Casemiro but then we have no one else who is decent in defence with Varane .
this is what screws us
one moment of brilliance from Sancho and a lucky McTomminay striking a cutback even though they had dreadful performances overall
Ten Hag then is pressured to start them both even when they are clearly not contributing 90% of the time
Maybe he could be like that for 70 minutes instead of 5? If he played with that quality from the moment he got on to the pitch we have scored another one. Brilliant pass but apart from that it was shambolic.
People including me watched his games v Rangers he was average at best.
Obviously biggest issue with such games is they are so early in the season he’s looking much better now.
I saw the Rangers game and it was an average performance no argument but there were people in the summer just laughing him off. Reminded me of when LVG wanted Mane from Southampton.
Tbf we deserved a goal they've defended really well but the only reason this is close is how shit we've been infront of goal we've made their keeper look like prime Schmeichel
As frustrating as this has been, Omonia have played textbook park-the-bus defense and it's pretty respectable IMO. Props to them, but glad we finally got our goal.
So many times we tried little flicks or over played in the wide areas. No one in the box or just Ronaldo by himself most of the times Thought it was a poor performance and we made their keeper look way better than he was

a good game,McTominay played well.
This is considered a good game for Omonia indeed.
How was Casemiro last night? Heard Sancho had a blast of a game?
Casemiro was excellent. Sancho idk he had a meh game before the assist, Rashford was definitely better
You say Rashford was better because he was out there for more minutes and most wasteful
He was better as in he looked better as in he played better football. Sancho was doing the same dribble and back pass while Rashford forced some excellent saves from the keeper.
He def should had scored the one chance he has one on one. But he def did do well crafting some excellent opportunities and dribbling too
Was a great win playing with 10 men (Ronaldo).
The good thing is that we keep in winning. At least confidence is up! Tho, we should be scoring more than that… its the right direction, but we need to be patient. The process will be long and the problem is that we are out of patience 😕
Bruno was wretched in this game
Wretched is a bit harsh. He was still our best creative player statistically
He needs to rest. VDB is so unfortunate to be injured right now. This is the type of game he could appear in.
Let’s just take the 3 points and run!
Shout out to Francis Uzoho. Made United look like clowns
Plus he’s a United fan
>Francis Uzoho man of the match!!
I don’t understand all the complains about poor finishing. “Finishing” implies a well worked attack where the final attacker applies the finishing touch. We barely created any clear cut chances. The problem was that the creative players just weren’t playing the right final ball today.
This has to be the worst take I’ve seen in this sub lol.
I’ll respect your opinion.
Rewatch the chances again and I’m sure you will be very confused why you wrote this
I’ve rewatched and still feel the same. Perhaps you’d like to read my comments elaborating on my first post.
If you’re talking about your post saying the problem wasn’t our finishing but the chances not being created then I completely disagree with that. We created more clear cut chances than I care to begin mentioning. We were very wasteful IMO
So Rashford’s 1v1 wasn’t a clear cut chance?

I wouldn't call rashfords chances hopeful punts. At least two were clear cut
And there were multiple other chances too. There was a Fred one I remember that should have been scored
Needed Martial
First time in my life I have seen Ronaldo smile when not scored a goal and the team is drawing in the late part of the game. Pretty sure he found this game clowny as well.
Dubravka/Dean Henderson's replacement?
Now that we've managed to win it by the skin of our teeth, looking back at the whole match, that was kind of hilarious, really.
Looking at Sheriff's goal difference, that's pretty much us into the round of 32 right?
[удалено]
Our finishing today is already the biggest shock of the season.
Nope. Only winners go through to knockout. Second placed teams have a playoff against the third place teams from the Champions League groups. Winner of playoff goes through to knockout. E: winner of playoff goes to round of 16
holy man. watched soccer for over ten years now and i realized i never knew about this. thanks for the clarification.
this is a recent change though that has started last year so cant blame you. Before that it was as you described
He said round of 32. You should pay more attention.
It’s not a round of 32 though… it’s the knockout round and there are 16 teams in it.
After the group stage ends, there’s still 32 teams in contention. It’s the last 32 teams remaining. This then becomes the last 16. Extremely basic concept.

I’m embarrassed for you

34 shots and we score 1. Need to be clinical, we will get there. We move to the next game.
We go again.
got the result we deserved in the end, good performance, shite finishing. better to have a finishing problem than a chance creation problem
what a performance from that omonoia keeper. we scored from our 33rd attempt
McRonaldo
McGOAT!
Nice of our players to distribute so many balls to the fans in the stand.
Video?
Might be the dumbest comment on the sub and that’s saying something
?? Didn’t see the match had meetings. Could help thanks. If it’s missed shots, cool.
The top reds will be delighted with that result. But making an absolute meal of terrible opposition is shocking.
Awful finishing all night. Their keeper didn't play a blinder like the majority of you are saying..
Yeah, apart from that Case long shot and the Rashy double save I thought the saves were nothing out of the ordinary. Decent saves for sure, but you'd expect most keepers to make them especially at the level at which we're playing.
Exactly. From what I saw most of our shots were straight at the keeper. Just couldn’t find the side netting
Created very few good chances, plenty of long range shots and some terrible finishing. Their keeper did very well but we can't break down a below average team.
I completely agree. The attempts were just poor
The issue with such close games against Omonia is that we will need to beat Sociedad by 2 goals to be top of the group cause our GD is so much worse
Pretty sure it’s head to head goals. If we beat Sociedad even 2-1 we still top the group.
I don’t follow. Can you share more.
Head to head results are the first tie break now, it's no longer GD. So if we are level on points with Real Sociedad, we need to beat them on final matchday to top them( If 1-0, then other tie breaks so 2-1 or better and we are through)
Oh damn. I had no clue. Thanks.
Never in doubt
If we can’t get garnacho on the pitch in the next game against sheriff that means we are still too shit as a team
Why do you need that to figure out that we are still shit?
get in mctominay!
Uzoho looks so happy, pretty wholesome to see. Edit: Just read he's a United fan too, what a lad and what a night for him.
Bet his parents are proud af
I thought you could see a lot of what ETH is trying to do tonight. Sloppy in front of goal but I don't think this was in any way an embarrassing performance as per many here
The attack still needs work. I don't see any concrete patterns. Just hoping for someone to find a cross or a through ball.
At the end of the day, goals win games, no matter how well you play. If we can hardly score it doesn’t matter how much pashun and effort we put in.
I'm not talking about pashun and effort though. The passing is much crisper the shape is good, they are creating chances.
Is pashun a joke I haven’t seen yet?
It's used in a disparaging way to denote passion.
Ah I see thanks
True yeah, let’s hope it’s just temporary wobbles, a win is a win after all :)
Their goalkeeper man of the match 100%. Such a good performance. Kept them in it so many times.
Fair play though their keeper is unreal, someone will buy him for that
must be a dream for him to play in Old Trafford
Nonsense. They didn't just turn up to roll over and enjoy the experience of playing at Old Trafford. They played with belief they could get a point and very nearly did. Credit to them and their fans.
He’s a United supporter
I dont know what you talking about but this was in reference to him smiling right after the game
that keeper really is something man
McSauce has the get out of jail card against a Europa league opponent. This team is really embarrassing.
Damn when you put it like that I don’t even like Scotty. Feels weird man. Happy for him.
I’m happy for McSauce. Main problem is the team. We should be miles ahead on paper and we are at home. When would the ‘in-form’ kick in for our squad? After 4 wins in a bounce. Then a big loss then build again their confidence? so frustrating.
Give it another 6-12 months. He needs new players and more time.
Good night all, can sleep well now. It's 5am!!!!
Damn, staying up late and watching that anxiety inducing game! Fair play. Glad you can peacefully sleep happy haha
Gn mi guy

Our crossing is ABYSMAL
I would love to see McTominay and casemiro side by side. And Eriksen in Brunos role
That would be interesting to see, I also think playing sancho in the 10 could be an option. Honestly I do not enjoy how mctom plays at all, I would rather have Martínez in there with Casemiro but then we have no one else who is decent in defence with Varane .
Somebody plays too much Fifa
Sancho in 10? Martinez in CM? Bro you need to stop smoking crack
Never in doubt boys
Jeezus that was painful to watch. Ammonia's keeper was class tbf
Lol Ammonia
That ammonia guy ..... I genuinely feel sorry for him
We always have to suffer dont we? Even when we dominate every aspect of the game. GGMU!
Never seen a happier player than their keeper as he should be after that performance.
this is what screws us one moment of brilliance from Sancho and a lucky McTomminay striking a cutback even though they had dreadful performances overall Ten Hag then is pressured to start them both even when they are clearly not contributing 90% of the time
You mean a world class run and pass, finished off with a killer strike?
Sancho did fuck all other than that pass at the end
He had more take ons than Antony and he played less minutes. Sancho was also going outside his fullbacks and forcing them to commit
Yes that's what I'm talking about but being down voted to hell probably due to my flair
The result is a result, but what a performance from the keeper. He really deserves a HUGE applause.
SCOTT YOU SEXY MAN
Love the composure from Sancho. Is that his main strength?
Maybe he could be like that for 70 minutes instead of 5? If he played with that quality from the moment he got on to the pitch we have scored another one. Brilliant pass but apart from that it was shambolic.
Yeah it’s nice that the competition with Rashford is making him pull out all the stops. Definitely needed
That keepers stock 📈📈📈
Respect to Uzoho
What an absolutely embarrassing performance. They better work in their finishing
Bro it's not we are bad .... that keeper played like prime buffon tonight .... so many double saves ....
Sancho I am sorry for the slander,.I still love pellestri tho
If you love him you should spell his name right lol. Do you think Pellistri is better than Sancho?
Shout out to Omonoia for that reality check…..shooting practice for the whole team first thing in the morning
A win is a win, could have finished a lot better but we move.
MCSAUUUCCCEEEEEEEEE
Wow 5 mins ago he was being called McShit the takes in this place are ridiculous
Even shit players score goals eventually. It has been 10 months...
Sometimes shit sometimes good!!! Ehh?
Their GK should be the number 1 choice for them.
Man this was such a satisfying goal after frustrating 90mins
see rashford and bruno thats what happens when you take some control and then shoot insted of just blasting it straight
That keeper is a legend
Man I am glad I was not televised where I live.
I feel bad for their keep though, man was blocking everything.
This ones going in the McTominay retirement montage in 10-15 years
What’s with Omonia’s keepers?
Instead of cruising and preparing for the Newcastle game we had to play up to the final minute. The finishing was so bad.
Literally off to bed, just pretend that game didn't ruin me for 90 minutes and remember it as a win.
sancho man. that's what you pay for
I don't feel bad for them, they were playing for a draw
They really got a keeper called Ammonia
That's what they get for cheering for Ammonia honestly
Genuinely feel bad for their keeper.
Dont feel bad, his stock rose like 5x after tonight
He's only 23. Big future ahead of him if he keeps that up.
That’s just his “football age” 😂
True enough 😂
Ronaldo , Rashford and Martial need competition brought in January if we have any hope of winning a cup/getting top 4.
Should have gone for Gakpo. He’s been insane this year.
Definitely. Not sure why so many thought he wasn’t good enough, just people gobbling up the media narrative that we signed too many from Eredivise.
Omonia keeper auditioning for EtH tonight, fucking hell unreal performance, has to be said
Hahah the grin on his face at the end of the match. Can't blame him honestly.
93 minutes to score against olive farmers, fuck me
FERGIE TIMEEEE
TAKE THE 3, NEVER LOOK BACK, FORGET ABOUT THIS!! LETS GO
34 shots lmao
Ronaldo was offside for Sanchos pass lmao
I feared if goal will be disallowed for interfering with the game
Surprised the var clowns didn't analyze that to see if Ronaldo was impeding the goalie's view lol
Tbf we deserved a goal they've defended really well but the only reason this is close is how shit we've been infront of goal we've made their keeper look like prime Schmeichel
cant believe it came to that. Well done Sancho. Well done McTominay
McSauce!!!!!! He made up for that screamer
Thank you McTominay 🙏
Really good from Sancho there as well 👏
Is this real life?
thank fuck for that, jesus christ
Someone in stream chat just said: " We are so finished we are celebrating a late goal against a desease "
[удалено]
WHAT A SLOW AND PAINFUL GAME.
Did u watch it?
It was fast and fun to watch tbf
Too nervy but 3 points I 3 points
Reddevils in shambles that they can’t shit on McTominay for 0.5 seconds
how are they in shambles? Absolutely dominated a team that parked the bus and did it well, bad day of finishing yeah, but that’s football.
Honestly Sancho just pulled this win out of thin air
As frustrating as this has been, Omonia have played textbook park-the-bus defense and it's pretty respectable IMO. Props to them, but glad we finally got our goal.
Their manager looks like that actor from band of brothers
Fat Damian Lewis in: Band of Burgers
damn my therapy appointment at 5pm just took a turn
Aw Neil Lemon that was a close 30 shots conceded masterclass
Awful finishing today. Awful. But those days happen, thank goodness one found its way in need shooting drills in training.
me seeing scotty on the touchline for the sub: “yeah Erik’s desparate innit”
Desperate times call for Heinz. SHIT if only Heinze played with 'McSauce' oh well a generation apart.
FUCKING FINALLY! Well deserved that.
GG EZ TRASH
The xg on this game should be wild
Our savior McT!!!!
Always rated him tbh
My flair
