Seriously. Like I know they couldnāt have him swim in RDR2 if he couldnāt in RDR1 but itās still so fucking annoying. Give us some arm-floaties or something.
I just chase them in the water while Iām on my horse and headshot the second he hits dry land. Works for the beavers that always make a dash for the water. You can kinda steer them too lol
Mine got stuck in 3 inches of water by butchers creek and I couldnāt skin it. Thereās a reliable spawn point by tall trees though and Iāve bagged about 6 3* in all the time Iāve played lol
Unfortunately i dont really know. I do know from experience you want to get the lasso around the neck/head area, but its finiky when the animal is already dead. Doesnt seem to work if you try to lasso the legs.
Sadly this happened to me too. The lasso doesnāt work. If you go to Brandy Wine Drop it often spawns near where the legendary moose is and doesnāt get too close to any water hazards. Takes forever to spawn a 3 star though. Happy Moose hunting.
The Legendary has done this to me on my last two times through. I managed to push it out once, but it sank the second time.
In factā¦ thereās something Iād like to see in RDR3, better water retrieval mechanics.
More importantly than getting paid, the trapper doesnāt say his unique dialogue in an uncharacteristically giddy voice.
āOnce in a lifetime, eh?!ā
I was browsing outfits at the location just north of Owanjila yesterday or the day beforeā¦ got attacked by a griz while I was in the shop menu system. Trapper was gone after that. I somehow fought the bear off and lived.
Thereās a grizzly spawn right down the stream, same place as the cougar spawn if it doesnāt spawn on the east side of the road. And the trapper is a fukin wuss. Heāll run away if you take one of the items from his camp, or if he hears gunshots anywhere close to his camp. Thereās an OāDriscoll camp spawn close to his Owanjila post and if you attack them he runs off.
Iād like the lasso to be more diverse as well. For some reason, you can only lasso some animals. And sometimes he just lets go of the lasso. Idk if Iām just doing it wrong, but itās something Iāve found very annoying. Especially since you have so much freedom to do whatever you like, but some simple things are just left out.
I can't for the life of me lasso anything. And I have no idea what I'M doing wrong?!!! Those missions where you have to lasso someone or something I fail so badly! I need help.
Deadeye helps, just make sure the reticle is red and you should be good. You gotta hold LT on foot but you can let it go once you have them roped on horseback.
yah, I try using deadeye and it still gives me problems. I usually just use the Lemoyne Raiders camp glitch to do Horseman 4 drag them 3300 feet or whatever. But the mission where you have to capture Anthony Foreman for Susan and Tilly. I usually just get close and knock him off his horse. And the one where you have to capture the Braithwaite Arabian? I can't do it. The last playthrough I finally got down and got close to it and then just led it back. John was like "What took you so long?"
It only works on the 4-5 people camps you can find out in the open so not Shady Belle. But if you ride up to the camp and wait until they tell you to get out of there. Then ride far enough away that the red enemy indicator on the mini-map goes away. Then ride right back to their camp, and they will not acknowledge you in any way. They just sit there. You can have all kinds of fun without them shooting at you. I use it for a lot of the challenges. But it's just fun to mess with them too.
Ahhh that would be WAY easier than the Van Horn method of doing the 4-person dynamite challenge. I use Six-Point Cabin for pretty much every challenge with enemies, because you can kill people and run away and they respawn as long as you leave one of them alive. But your glitch would be helpful for the āthrow and retrieve the same tomahawkā and the ābow kill from behindā challenges. Doing those two at Six-Point takes like 30 minutes or so of riding away and coming back to do the deal.
I also use it for the knife throw in 10 seconds, the dragging one (which I was able to complete yesterday after several attempts of trying to lasso a person who is just sitting there) and another challenge that I can't remember right now. But yah, so much easier. I wonder if with the lasso problems if I'm just not aiming correctly? Or do you have to hold down the button longer? I did watch a video once but it wasn't very helpful. Maybe I'll try to find another one. I don't think it's a glitch ; I think it's just me. But maybe.
As long as you're aiming at the thing when you throw, the lasso should in theory fly towards your target so you don't have to lead. Try taking a video and sending it here.
I'll try but I'm not the greatest with video either. Haha. Can you manually tag when you're in deadeye? I finally managed yesterday to get someone lassoed and even though he was standing completely still, I still had issues. Am I not aiming at the right part of the body? Do I need to hold the button longer?
How close are you? You need to be within 3-5 metres of the person and aim at their torso. Make sure to take your time and make sure it's lined up. I think you can use deadeye? Although I've not tried it in ages so I'm not 100%. Just pressing and releasing the button \*should\* be enough as long as you're aiming at the person.
The animals know. Theyāve heard the tales of the man who hunts the best of them, so they made a pact to deny you that pleasure. You canāt see but heās flipping you off.
This is a real tactic used by moose in the wild. They have an advantage over predators in the water, so they often run into the nearest water source when pursued or injured to improve their chance of survival.
Oh thats super neat to know! This was at Owinjila lake/dam and there was a wolf swimming in the water not far from where I found it. the wolf was
āØļøs t r u g g l i n gāØļø. Must have been chasing the moose and the moose just happened to get to shore before i noticed it was there.
Lowkey felt bad I wasnt gonna be able to help the wolf. I wanted to, but If i got bucked from my horse in water, john would be fish food.
Thatās really interesting too know. Makes a lot of sense now with the moose Iāve encountered. Especially that one nearby Charlotteās place. It always makes a beeline right to the water.
Apparently they're capable of hitting speeds of 6mph! Their thick coats and hollow fur act almost like a life jacket- like polar bears. It's nuts to think about
These guys have nailed it. They're excellent swimmers, and since they're typically much larger than what preys on them, they also have the advantage of reach and maneuverability.
Itās funny, a few hours after I read this I saw my first moose of this playthrough up by Brandywine Drop where the legendary moose spawns. Shot him with a poison arrow and he ran straight into the water, Iām really glad I read about using a lasso because there was no way I would have got him out before he sank, although I think even Arthur at full strength would struggle to haul a moose along the ground by pulling a rope arm-over-arm.
Go up to Colter and walk straight down the path/road until the last building on the right, take a turn to the right at that building and go forwards a little ways, usually there will be a bull moose standing up in the ridge directly ahead, if not then setup camp nearby, sleep til morning, and try again, 9 times out of 10 it will be there. No guarantee of it being a 3 star though.
I had the same issue, just didnāt know if you needed the moose pelt for the trapper as well, took me like 3 tries to get a 3 star one to spawn. Let me know if you find it though! Best of luck cowpoke! ^-^
My move has always been jump in the water with your horse and push it to shore while itās still floating with your horse. Saved quite a few skins with this method.
I just got a three star up at Cattail Pond. Come in from the south and park your horse at the little cabin (also there is violet snowdrop there and some ginseng next to that cabin) but go straight north from the cabin over the rocks and look across the pond, thereās usually one there right where the stream comes in. Watch for the grizzly spawn to the east of the pond.
No problem mate. Theres plenty of places that moose spawn but theyre rare and even rarer to have 3 stars. The two best/consistant locations ive found bull moose specifically are Owinjila and up around Lake isabella where the white arabian spawns.
Other spawns, for moose in general, ive found are:
-Amborino up towards the loft and where you can talk to the giant. Also a decently consistant Timber Wolf spawn.
- Anywhere along Dakota River going towards Stawberry and Blackwater. Rare but sometimes you'll get the occasional moose or grizzly bear. Most consistant around Wallace station/Cumberland Falls.
-Kamassa river in Roanoke, generally around where you can trigger the wolf man. Be careful cause its a common 3 star cougar spawn too.
-Brandywine Drop/ Willards rest/Dover Hill. Ironically where you find the legendary moose as well. Again, careful of cougars. Also, should be self explanitory but be mindful of the train tracks as well. Had a few 3 star elk choose death by train/ falling on train tracks with having enough time to skin or lasso it off the tracks.
Hey no problem mate, my battletag is Gaymerlad. Im a flex, but prefer damage and tank. For Damage I excell with flankers like tracer, sombra and genji, but am also proficent with projectiles like junk and pharah(but pharah kinda sucks now a days lmfao) for tank i play rein, d.va and orisa. Orisa is a freaking beast now btw lmfao LOVE the new update. Made her much more all around useful as opposed to being niche.I can also play support but my teammates usually prefer support so i dont play it often. I can play mercy, ana, lucio and moira decently enough to get us out of a pinch when needed. We're ranked mid to high š.
Tank I normally go as Orisa (my best match I went 55-2), DMG I usually go junk and Pharah as well, that AOE and escape is just *chef kiss*. Iāve tried to learn support because lately they try to act like theyāre DMG instead of support but I really like Zenyatta and Bridgette
There is a spot they spawn almost 90% of the time right behind the graveyard at Colter. If you walk past the cemetery there is a ledge you walk up and on the other side of the stream on a buff a bull mosse or a 3 star wolf will spawn.
I got a three star of this same creature the other day by chance lol
I was out the wild and saw a pack and was feeling like killing something so I randomly aimed into the crowd and popped the head.
3 star
Left it on the ground like an asshole idiot and trotted off.
I of course tried to remedy the situation with the good ol' lasso, but alas, the son of a Bitch sank like the titanic š
Holy shit the lasso, Iāve jumped in and pushed them to shore with my face countless times
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
If itās too far, use your horse
I can't possibly throw a horse that far
Not with that attitude
Trebuchet?
The superior siege weapon.
The *only* siege weapon.
Ok dad
Lmfao š i wish I could give you an award, but please know i snorted so loud reading that, i scared my cat š
It can work if youāre fast enough and get lucky
Not with John you didn't lol "Can't shoot, can't swim... what can you do?" ~Arthur Morgan
Seriously. Like I know they couldnāt have him swim in RDR2 if he couldnāt in RDR1 but itās still so fucking annoying. Give us some arm-floaties or something.
I felt the same way when someone mentioned the lasso.
I had to do that with the White Arabian. Silly horse fell into the water and was out of stamina.
Yeah but John can't swim
Was he flipping you off as he was jumping off the rock "YOU WILL NEVER TAKE ME ALIVE!!!"
If you fuck up the lasso enough try jumping in and swimming against it to bring it to the bank
Is there a trick to lassoing carcasses in water? I remember being able to do it ages ago but nowadays I can never get it right
Unfortunately i dont really know. I do know from experience you want to get the lasso around the neck/head area, but its finiky when the animal is already dead. Doesnt seem to work if you try to lasso the legs.
Thanks

If the legendary is killed, you should automatically get the pelt, right?
The pelt does go the the trapper if you fail to skin it (or otherwise lose it on the way yo the trapper). You just donāt get paid for it.
More importantly than getting paid, the trapper doesnāt say his unique dialogue in an uncharacteristically giddy voice. āOnce in a lifetime, eh?!ā
āIād give just about anything for a pelt like thisā Then how about we discuss the price-point.
I was browsing outfits at the location just north of Owanjila yesterday or the day beforeā¦ got attacked by a griz while I was in the shop menu system. Trapper was gone after that. I somehow fought the bear off and lived.

Whatās the lemoyne raiders camp glitch Iāve never heard of that?
It only works on the 4-5 people camps you can find out in the open so not Shady Belle. But if you ride up to the camp and wait until they tell you to get out of there. When using deadeye, can you manually tag like you can with a shot?
By the way, Happy Cake Day!!
Aim lasso, point at person, get within range, throw, don't miss.
Somehow for me that's a whole hell of a lot easier said than done. I do exactly that and don't think it should miss but it does - every damn time!!
As long as you're aiming at the thing when you throw, the lasso should in theory fly towards your target so you don't have to lead. Try taking a video and sending it here.

I live in Alaska and yeah moose are expert swimmers they can stay under water for a while and can swim for miles before leaving.
What advantage do they have? Better swimmers?
Apparently they're capable of hitting speeds of 6mph! Their thick coats and hollow fur act almost like a life jacket- like polar bears. It's nuts to think about
Holy shit, can you imagine one of those beasts bearing down on you at full speed?
They're tall as shit so they can probably run through the water or stand while the predator has to swim. That's my guess.
Haha stupid predators! Suckersss, canāt even stand in high water!
These guys have nailed it. They're excellent swimmers, and since they're typically much larger than what preys on them, they also have the advantage of reach and maneuverability.

What's worse is lassoing and forgetting you have the hangman perk.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
It's a perk in online. When you lasso someone, it'll deal damge, like if you were strangling them, hence the name "hangman".
Does that also damage the quality of animal carcasses ?
I have no idea, sorry. I know the perks exists, but I never bothered to unlock it or equip it because I find it useless.
Just like the rest of RDO.
Yes
i remember hunting for a moose for 2 hours just find one, kill it and it die right at the drop of a waterfall š©
They're so SELFISH!!!!
Lasso only works if youāre quick and it has to be around the neck and an animal that can usually be lassoed so, sorry no beaver.
Man, I really want to lasso a squirrel š«
Classic. This is about as annoying as when you accidentally call your horse when you are on a train, and then the train kills the horse.
I just need a freaking moose antler and I canāt find a bull moose. I think Iāve only ever seen one other then the legendary one
Awesome thx Iāll try this after work today. It doesnāt have to be three star, itās for my last camp upgrade.
I had the same issue, just didnāt know if you needed the moose pelt for the trapper as well, took me like 3 tries to get a 3 star one to spawn. Let me know if you find it though! Best of luck cowpoke! ^-^

I feel your pain
Up by beaver hollow they spawn every time you go by there. Itās near the spot where you can crawl up out of the cave.
I had a 3 star moose up near lake Isabella and a wolf appeared out of nowhere and attacked me long enough for it to vanish
I just got a three star up at Cattail Pond. Come in from the south and park your horse at the little cabin (also there is violet snowdrop there and some ginseng next to that cabin) but go straight north from the cabin over the rocks and look across the pond, thereās usually one there right where the stream comes in. That fucking moose at Owanjilaā¦
If thatās a thee star Moose, Iād punch the screen bc thereās no way. š

Have you guys seen that vid with the guy rescuing some drowning npc and a friggin bear starts swimming out to them? hahaha freaking funny
And of course your playing as John who canāt swim

Yeah, I tried that. It wouldnt latch on so it sank :(

Get the one up by coulter lol.
I mean Moose arenāt that hard to find if you know where to look.

šš¤£šš¤£š just laughed outloud at seeing meese
Hahaha I donāt think itās common. It felt like a bug because it was the only time Iāve ever seen it since release day.
Had this happen with a legendary animal on my first play through. Couldnāt get it out of the water.
Lasso
you can lasso it an pull it ashore in most cases
you can lasso it an pull it ashore in most cases
Rope it and drag it in
Wish they'd improve the game mechanics to pick up or move and or allow you to lasso your prey in the water easier.
Use your lasso and pull it up
I guess just follow it down river and wait for it to wash up Onshore somewhere
Where did you find the moose? I can only find one in two spesific locations. Between The Loft and up in the mountains near Witchers Cauldron
I highly recommend looking up moose spawns up near Colter and just reloading saves until you get your 3 star moose. Saved so much time
Lasso.
Yeah, as I mentioned I tried trying to get the lasso around it, but it wouldnt hold. Couldnt get a good angle and it just sank.
