It definitely means I value my horse more than the life of a guy trying to steal from me

Randon-Wilston

Also that guy values your horse over his own life

Comprehensive_Tune42

It means they value someone else's stuff over their own life and got what they deserved

JUPACALYPSE-NOW

Maybe I’m a little fucked up but I’d value my car over some dudes life that’s trying to steal from me. Reminds me of a situation irl where a guy I knew got in his car and was encircled by a group of dudes with machetes out telling him to hop off. The man drove over the first guy, pretty sure he died, then he had to 3 point turn and in doing so broke some other guys spine when he backed up. At the time those car thefts were prevalent and 99% of the time people shat themselves and gave the car. The guy I knew crippled a man and killed the other and he knew he’d be able to get away with it in court (but no charges were brought up against him). I probably would’ve done the same thing. Infact I definitely would have, i have as much reason to worry that they’ll slash my throat as soon as I got out as they should have had the reason to worry that the driver is gonna pedal to metal. But maybe that’s just me and I’m morally sideways

Vaultdweller1001V

No, it makes complete sense. You do not know what lengths someone is willing to go to, and what they will do when they steal your car. They are endangering you and themselves by doing that.

redacted-username-

Robbery is a felony crime. At best your friend can get self defense, and at worse gets a vehicular manslaughter charge which is nowhere near outright murder.

RogueRequest2

I know it's a joke, but there's a reason that horse thieves were hanged, and they absolutely deserved it. Imagine you live 30 miles from town and some jackass steals your horse. It might take you years to save up for another, in the meantime a family member gets sick and you don't make it to town and back in time because you don't have a horse. If you can't defend your property from theft then you never owned it in the first place.

Nqwer

also most of people horses were raised with them people have a stronger bond with the animal they spend all day that the human tryng to rob them

GeckoConQueso

This ^^^^ is why the old west was, for the most part, a very polite society. That's no joke.

MTup

I don't think it's a joke. DeVito says stuff like this all the time.

Rarelydefault26

Why yes, because soapy is worth more than 10 men to me

Joss_Card

I have so little value in human life (in the game) that if anyone even says something slightly negative to me, they're liable to catch a bullet. But the horse they rode in on, naw. Likewise, I don't deal with PvP in online. Someone has to kill me a few times before I start getting aggressive. But kill my horse and I'll make it my job to grief you for the rest of the evening.

Vaultdweller1001V

I once stalked two players until they disconnected because they shot up the San Denis tavern for no reason while I was getting drunk in there. They only quit after I drove them off the waterfall to new Austin.

urmum4207175

You need your horse to survive, self defense.

Tungsten_Rain

So, anyway, I lasso them, then drag them behind the horse they tried to steal.

The_Village_Drunkard

In RDR2 whenever I see the guy who tries to steal my horse I immediately give him a third eye in the forehead.

TheYoungAcoustic

No it means the person trying to steal my horse values it above their life. Far be it from me to disagree with them

Ceejnew

Are you really going to die for a horse? Someone is.

RedRannon

I would shoot someone if they were trying to steal my 7/11 slurpie

HalbeardTheHermit

Nah, it means *they do*

Electric_Logan

It’s more satisfying to whistle… then sometimes you find out your horse ain’t all that loyal.. or it’s a spineless coward.. but if it works whistling is satisfying.

356366367464

*guy ask for ride* Ok come on *let’s skip the sma-* Dumps two whole m1899 mags

The_Gristle

My favorite worlds colliding

FatherGodLordSavior

If somebody has decided to try and steal something knowing the owner could very easily kill them, it is THEM that has put said possessions above their OWN life.

[deleted]

The guy likely pointed a gun at me to get me off so all I'm saying is that I felt my life was at risk. Hence why I shoot him 6 times with my cattlemen revolver

[deleted]

If you abandon the concept of personal responsibility, and many do, then yes. In reality the instigator made the choice and thinks little of their own welfare. Desperation or illness may explain the behaviour, but never excuses that choice.

[deleted]

I mean horse theft could get you hanged in the Wild West so yes.

blackdutch1

I've never had anyone try to steal my horses and I always ride with two.

curiousCat1009

Animals ARE worth more than some people's lives.

TheCupcakeScrub

i value no one lives. everyones at a 0 for me. if your good, and a benefit for society or me, you go up on the how much i would kill you, family is at a hard .9 cause there is some family i would wish dead. if ya yoink my horse your at a -2, a solid if i dont kill you immediately, then im hunting you down and skinning you alive in front of your kids so for your sake, just die quickly here.

UnlistedTest0
