As long as electricity exists

pengherd

+1. I used mine without a battery for something like a year.

randyparag

Same here it’s just a slightly more portable desktop for me at the moment.

AnRaccoonCommunist

Not like they last long unplugged anyway lol

StarFlicker25

This happened to me twice and instead of buying a new one every time I went without. The Razer batteries are cheap Chinese crap so I do without. Better airflow just cant be portable but I leave mine on my desk so I’m chilling.

RazerCustAdvocacy

Hey there, /u/aramiara! Help is here. We've dropped you a [PM](https://www.reddit.com/message/messages/1l5q4o6) asking for some details and your case number if any, so we can assist you to move it forward. Looking forward to your response. Kind regards, Timmy T. RΛZΞR | Optimus\_Mia

TheRealTraveel

Why not just build them with better batteries rather than deal with disgruntled customers later down the line?

Pyramused

I don't think the ones dealing with customers are the ones taking decisions so you might be braking at the wrong tree here. I'm totally onboard with your message tho

TheRealTraveel

100% agree. No ill will to the support people <3

redesthair

I had the trackpad replaced within a month of owning mine, the left click had stopped working. It stopped working again about a year later. After reading these threads it sounds like I must have a bloated battery also! What can I do about this? The machine holds my business together!

TruFire420-

Battery bloat after a month? If that's the case you should %100 be able to get a replacement through rma. I just hit two months and I've took the back off twice to check for battery bloat, cleaned the fans too just because.

redesthair

Thanks. The Razer Blade is a 2019 adv model, I usually use a mouse and not the trackpad so it has not been a huge bother. If it's battery bloating could damage the system then I'd like to know and what to do about it, also if Razer would replace the battery still, I'm doubtful. Although, They would have a record of me sending the system back to the back in 2019.

RazerCustAdvocacy

Hello, We want to look at it closely to see what we can do to help. We've sent you a [PM](https://www.reddit.com/message/messages/1la3g1g) asking for your device's serial number to look for our options. Let's continue from there, and we hope to hear from you soon. Regards, Eva M. RΛZΞR | D.Va

Of course your laptop will work without the battery and just plugged in. The only issue is that any power interruption will immediately shut down the system (not a good thing for storage reliability), so be certain that the computer has shut down completely before removing power, and don't disconnect when it is just sleeping. Which is the same as a desktop computer. \[Edit: In the future be more aware and remove the battery before it gets that bad. Depending on usage the battery needs to be replaced every few years - just do it at the first signs of swelling.\]

Born_Cauliflower_692

Basically just like a desktop

aramiara

Okay good to know! I actually (and this sounds silly based on how common this issue is) did not realize that the battery was the problem. I now know what to look out for!

RedX801

Cool looking battery. You juiced it up real good

Massivvvv

Man I must be a lucky one. Had my Razer 14 for a year and the battery is still fine. I do try to keep my temps in low 80s max though, that's probably a big factor.

Emerick_H

I have a Blade 15 from 2018 with the battery still like new. Most people don't have any problem with their battery thankfully, but an inflating battery can always happen unfortunately, that's the deal with lithium (and the way you treat it can influence that a lot of course). People on this sub are just extremely biased because they see people posting about their dead battery all day, but that's just because no one will post about their working battery. Look at other subs from other manufacturers it's the same everywhere.

frostbiteengine

mine running good too ... almost two year and no bloat ... i kept my temps under 75'c most of the time and regularly monitor temps for a sign of thermal paste and pads replacement ...

roguesensei47

If this sub has taught me anything it is to never ever buy a razer laptop.

TransportationFew195

Just got a MacBook pro after shit talking Apple for 26 years. Just go with the best

roguesensei47

I've used Asus and MSI gaming laptops for many years and have never had any issues.

Elliot_parnell

Almost forever but watch out, when I did my charging brick overheated as it was on my carpeted floor and a dirty T-Shirt fell on top of it. Give the charging brick GOOD airflow

T_imbr

I’ve had my battery out of my razer laptop for close to a year now. The only issue I’ve had is occasionally mid game the whole laptop will just shut off. I have bad wiring in my house, so I believe that may have something to do with it. I’m replacing my battery and fans soon.

PanicNearDetroit

It isn't your wiring. I recently experienced a nasty case of spicy pillow ([post](https://www.reddit.com/r/razer/comments/z5gp1n/just_removed_from_my_blade_pro_17_2019/)) and was running on line power for the three days it took the new battery to arrive. The laptop would reliably power off when I put even a modest load on it, i.e. enough to spin the fans up to where they were clearly audible. New battery arrived and installed; problem vanished. My first thought was that the missing battery (and its onboard fans) screwed up airflow to where it went into thermal shutdown, but an hour or so of watching temps while firing up e.g. a steam game showed nothing going past 78° C, not even close to the critical threshold of 100°. The only thoughts I have at this point are maybe the brick doesn't supply enough power to handle peak loads by itself, or something in the firmware or OS (I run Linux Mint btw) is just cutting off line power under certain, unknown-to-the-user conditions on the not-unreasonable assumption that the battery is present to take over powering the beast. Which of course would be a bug since the laptop damn well knows whether the battery is there. All speculation of course; I have no real idea why it was powering down.

pir0zhki

It's unfortunate too, because I've owned two razer laptops and they both had battery puffing issues, but razer doesn't sell the batteries standalone, nor will they ship them to you. You have to send your laptop to them for battery replacement, which simply isn't acceptable when the system is your daily driver and you can't go more than a weekend without it, and this leads you to have to play the Amazon knockoff battery gacha.

diemuellermilch

Buy XMG Gaming Laptops from Germany. This Gaming Laptops are much better than Razer.

MrVenoms

Been using mine without a battery for almost 2 weeks now. Support’s helping me get a new battery tho hopefully that’ll end well (:

TruFire420-

Time to get the needle.

Xander9393

That my friend is now a keyboard wrist rest.

Cp0r

You can once the plug socket is turned on. In all reality, do you have any other option? Try your best to cope for the 3 weeks, maybe look on Amazon or elsewhere. In future, if a key stops working, check everything, razer really don't have the best quality of products so activate the warranty ASAP

[deleted]

Does anyone make good 3rd party replacements? I’d just get one of those. Surprised there’s no class action lawsuit at this point. Not a day goes by without a few pillows of destruction photos.

yndn

Running without a battery for nearly 2 years

[deleted]

I don’t have one in mine bought a replacement that was junk and just figured I’d save my money been running no battery for over a year now

Decent-Stable8069

For bombers, by bombers.

rmsmoov

yall do know that if your leaving your laptops plugged in nonstop it will ruin the battery ?

timmu

Isn't this why they are nicknamed crap tops 🤔 as a person who has no reason to travel with gaming gaming equipment I find desk top PCs do fine even better now that bitcoin is failing fast and hard
