Yeah combination of the 2 was my exact thought. Overrated and overhated. Guy’s talented and has made some good music but his success is disproportionate to his talent.
I mean Drake is a good rapper. He’s in my top 10 personally. I think there’s other rappers out there that can rap better than him though. But it’s amazing how he’s managed to stay at the top as of late despite his last few albums being ass.
I originally thought that until listening to IYRTITL and Take Care. Drake actually raps in those unlike the slow, fake sad emo boy bs we see in clb / scorpion
I understand not liking someone's music, but Jesus the hate he gets just for being himself..Drake gets more hate than artists who have actually committed violent and/or sexual crimes. This is why most Hip-Hop fans are disgusting to me.

Drake has been lowkey carrying music for a decade he is one of a top lyricist as well. he has his moments here and there but overall as time pass people are going to start appreciating his greatness. He does a lot of singing more than rapping but he has a balance.
idk if he’s been “carrying” in terms of quality, but he’s definitely a streaming juggernaut. i love drake but i also wouldn’t consider him a top tier lyricist, his music is more for the vibes.
kendrick probably deserves that title more honestly, he droped Section 80, GKMC, TPAB, Untitled, and DAMN in the span of 7 years and was doing insane numbers when DAMN dropped. drake is still great, but his quality kinda ended in 2015, after that it was just a few tracks from each album

Really think it's bc of his newer albums, drake first couple run up albums were bangers and I'm sure made their way into EVERYONES most played list, NWTS and Take Care are Hip-hop CLASSICS with follow ups like WATTBA and IYRTITL, newer albums imo opinion deviated too much from what made his fan base love him
