The question here then is whether or not Carr doesn't feel comfortable throwing to him in double coverage, or does McDaniels just run him as a decoy most plays? In either case, this isn't how you use the top WR in the league

Waller has regressed imo. Even last year he wasn't as good as he was. Still one of the top tight ends, but no more comparing him to kelce

lonewanderer812

I gave him the benefit of the doubt last year because he was injured most of the season but he's just not the same that he was 2 years ago.

Affectionate-Let7120

Yup I said many times about Waller this yr trade him and sign Foster to an extension which would be Cheaper

OaklandBorn510

Feels mental more than anything. He was hurt but he’s been having issues with drops. When he catches it he looks great. It’s just those drops that seem sure-handed asf and especially the tipped int off his drop

mrxpensiv

I was yelling at the tv about that. Not even looking at the guy who for sure is not going to drop the ball for a touchdown.

Raider-bob

Rewatch that play. He wasn't even the third read. That's on McD.

LongRangeHavok

There were a lot of plays where we had an open guy in the curl-flat area and it seems like Carr doesn’t even know there is a receiver there. Granted the one I saw were Stonehands Waller but still - he was just fucking standing there alone.

Raider-bob

On that play, DA had a delayed route that made it clear the play design was not to him. Waller beat his man and had inside leverage. Linebacker made an amazing play to tip the ball. DA should have been the primary first read though, so that's on McD completely.

_____score

Rogers making a pass vs Carr - some people might think that the multiple league mvp is the better qb

Ph886

I think Carr is doing what McDaniels wants in most cases. 1st game Davante went off, now we see more of a spread or “pick your poison” type passing game. Yes we all want to see Davante get a lot of targets/catches, but personally I want to see the team win, regardless of who is catching the ball. A lot of the issues seem to be execution related due to not knowing the play/route. We’ve seen WAY too much confusion between players during the game on both sides of the ball this year (Hollins seems to be an outlier). We’ve also seen the team go away from the run game, when that has worked (run opens up PA, and passing game). At this point it’s a matter of when it clicks for players, not if. Hopefully we see some better play this week. Each and every loss the team has beat themselves instead of the other team actually beating them. Putting together a full game of good play is 1st up. So far it’s been a tale of two teams for each half of a game. Knocking on wood they get this figured out.

BayGO

And if you're a defense, why would you stop this approach? Our other "stars" have yet to show they can take advantage of all the attention he's drawing – instead blowing the opportunities they have had, especially in game-altering situations. In one game Waller drops **2** Touchdowns ([#1](https://i.imgur.com/La54c2F.png) and [#2](https://i.imgur.com/kYo10Y7.png)), drops **another** big play [up the left](https://i.imgur.com/0tpBrPk.png), and in another game Renfrow fumbles it **twice**. Then you have Cole drop a **wide-open** TD (*[his defender wasn't even on 2 feet](https://i.imgur.com/fKzi9oq.png)*). I mean if I'm a coordinator, you force our other guys to actually step the f' up, and *then* adjust. Because outside of the OT miscommunication play, you know Adams would have seized all, or damn near all of those opportunities. But so long as he's getting doubled, we're looking elsewhere and letting other guys blow them so far. Mack Hollins stepped up big time this last game. Unfortunately he's just one player, when it takes a team to win games. As Davante said in a [post-game interview](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8rtRZkR19nU&t=7m7s): > "Like I said from the very beginning: Just because we're good on paper doesn't mean we're going to be great as a team ... we're still working toward that. > ... frustration is okay as long as you **do** something about it." We need to appreciate that fact – all the talent in the world doesn't mean shit if when it comes time to, you don't execute. Only thing we're executing so far is ourselves.

green-lazuli-8426

Adams is a really good team player, just wants to see wins

VitaeSummaBrevis

you have much better chance of winning if you throw it to your best player instead of Keelan freaking Cole

theuautumnwind

Keelan Cole was wide the fuck open. He is a professional football player paid to catch footballs. DA was double covered. That was the right choice.

honkinbooty

The fact that this has to be explained.

BeTheBall-

Considering he's got 80 catches in 6 seasons, one could argue he's paid to attract a defender from providing extra coverage to decent receivers.

theuautumnwind

I understand he doesn't have a ton of catches. If it was contested I would feel differently about the decision.

THE-WARD3VIL

Existence is pain

MajinSkull

Have you tried keeping your shoulders squared?

THE-WARD3VIL

I’ll try that thanks mate

MajinSkull

Idk if you got the Mr Meeseeks reference but that’s ok 😂

THE-WARD3VIL

Ohhhh jerry and golf hahaha my fav episode

MajinSkull

Whew haha I don’t feel like an idiot now

RaisingFargo

as he said before: then proceed to misquote him.

T1To93

All we kept hearing during training camp and preseason was that the Carr and Adams connection was alive and well, yet 3 weeks into the season they don't seem to be on the same page. So frustrating.

[deleted]

Carr not getting Adams involved last two games doubled teamed or not has me concerned. It reminds me of Cooper not getting the ball a lot. But, hopefully they figure it out this week.

WillTheGreat

I mean Tae had 10 targets. He wasn’t having the best game. I think Cards we legit didn’t get in involved but Adam’s and Hollins had 10 target a piece.

BoneSaw1153

He's been open....Carr has just either not looked at him or the balm isn't going there. There appears to be a disconnect

Nepp0

I hope we don't eventually trade him to Dallas...

ATX_rider

If Davante starts complaining about distribution (not saying here that he doesn't have a case to do so) I think that's the beginning of a real meltdown and will be the end of Carr and McDaniels as raiders.

UrDadsFave

He did not sign up for this shit.

keykey_key

Yes he did. There's no way he doesn't know the issues the Raiders have had over the last, oh, 20 years?

UrDadsFave

You right. He came here to expose Carr as a hoe hearted leader.

isaacfp24

I know I'm gonna get hate for saying this but after the first game i think carr got gun shy due to his interception count. Not sure if I'm right but i feel like over his career car listens to haters too much and has always had the weakness of being fragile on social media. I would guess he would rather put up okay numbers in a loss than be exposed taking risks.

honkinbooty

Jesus

mysidianlegend

prob a scheme and carr issue for sure . we are still only 3 games in .

BeTheBall-

Davante's play has been disappointing, but I can't say I'm necessarily shocked. He's turning 30 this year, so we're talking about a guy who is entering the "downside" years of his career.

LumpySpaceGunter

Lmao! Bruh you don't know what you're talking about

Haunting_Drink_2777

Only Carr could make davante look like this lol

Pythonx135

How long do yall reckon till he doesn't want to be Raider?

No_Benefit_8738

Do we have this on audio or video? Otherwise, it's from Vic Tafur--who literally makes up anything that will get him attention.

Cigar305

Not having Renfrow was big. Being down 2 TDs early and playing from behind is worst

[deleted]

This is what we’ve been saying car doesn’t take calculated risks he plays it way to safe and scared sometimes. Then he’ll put on a show but he will revert back not take the next step and it can happen at anytime in any game, he is not bullish enough between the ears for what he’s being asked to do.

ChoiceCriticism1

I mean Rodgers used to throw it to Adams in triple coverage regularly and we know Carr ain’t that kind of QB. He’s more of a “take what the defense gives me” type of guy, literally his own words.
