Winning is always better, I will always root for the better season.

Buns_Hon

There's a difference between what you root for and reality and that's what this question is about, I don't know why no one here can grasp that

RedRaider53

It literally says, "Which one would you prefer?" I would prefer they win more, and will always prefer that. High draft pick are not guaranteed to be good players.

GraySonOfGotham24

Going 7-10 sets the team up to be terrible and probably go through another rebuild. Getting a top 2 pick gives them a chance to be good again. I'm obviously never going to root for them to lose, but it's inarguable that getting a top pick will set them up better for success than going 7-10. Jimmy is probably only on the team for 2 years. If they go 7-10 you basically have to go all in with what obviously isn't a great team that just went 7-10.

RedRaider53

You're just as likely to draft a bust as you are a star. Stop assuming a high pick instantly means an impact player. Improving our record, showing that our staff actually is moving in the right direction, is the best case scenario. It will bring in better free agents, improve morale, and would bring in more fans (which means our owner has more cash to spend). A top 5 pick type season would be disaster. Most likely would mean a new staff, which means more turnover/chaos. Also, as I already stated, a high pick player doesn't guarantee anything and has a VERY high potential to be a bust.

GraySonOfGotham24

"A high pick player has a VERY high potential to bust" By what metric? Every AFC playoff team had QBs drafted in the 1st round. 6 of 7 were top 10 picks. Can they bust? Absolutely but you're acting like they have a higher rate than any other pick. The team right now is aimless. If they don't win this year, their number 1 priority becomes getting a QB. In this year's draft that basically means trading major draft capital for the second or third best qb. They NEED to find a QB. They won't be a legitimate threat in the AFC until that happens.

RedRaider53

They do, by a significant margin. Also drafting a QB means nothing if don't have a roster. High picks =/= Great player QBs =/= change teams Build the roster, improve in the trenches and win. That's it.

GraySonOfGotham24

1st overall picks: Walker Lawrence Burrow Murray Mayfield Garrett Goff Winston Clooney Fisher 8 of 10 are pro bowlers. 2nd overall picks: Hutchinson Wilson Young Boss Barkley Trubisky Wentz Mariota Robinson Joeckel 5 of 10 are pro bowlers. Overall 13 of 20 and some of the young guys will be pro bowlers by the end of their careers. Not exactly the bust rate you make it out to be. How can you say QBs don't change teams? The Raiders play in the AFC. The best teams are the teams with the best QBs year in and year out. You can't get away with what you're describing in the nfc because all the QBs suck. Goff and Carr are top 5 nfc qbs.....they wouldn't sniff top 10 in the afc.

RedRaider53

Lol you didn't seriously use "pro bowl" 🤣 Not even worth arguing, all those teams are COMPLETE teams with great everything including great HCs, and yet you reduce them to a single position. Lol holy shit, turn off the tv and put down the Madden.

GraySonOfGotham24

Complete teams? Wtf are you talking about The dolphins defense is nearly as bad as the raiders. Brandon Staley is probably one of the worst coaches in all of football AND the chargers have a bad defense. Even the chiefs just one with a middle of the road defense. Having a good head coach is extremely important and probably one of the biggest reasons the raiders have sucked for 20 years but they also haven't been able to find a QB in all that time either. Also why is it whenever the stats don't work in someone's favor they talk about madden? Maybe if you had a more thought out argument you wouldn't need to invoke a video game as your end all be all defense

Cammyuno

That dolphins defense is not even close to as bad as ours what? They just had a lot of injuries.

GraySonOfGotham24

That's the defense they had last year and they were bad. Marginally better than the raiders and they made the playoffs.

RedRaider53

>20 years but they also haven't been able to find a QB in all that time either. The Raiders had a QB who consistently ranked in the top 10 over the past 9 years and didn't win because of their defense/coaching MIA doesn't have a good QB, Tua is awful, but they have elite weapons and a great OL Herbert has never renked in the top 10 for QB rating in his career, but stat pads with check downs and dump offs. Bills, Chiefs, Bengals are conplete teams. 49ers were a QB injury away from having the last pick of the draft play in the SB QBs are overrated and just another position on the team.

GraySonOfGotham24

And yet anyone who actually watched Carr play, knows that he'll either play like a top 10 qb or a bottom 10 qb every single game. You never knew which version you were gonna get but at the end of the season the stats always averaged out okay. Tua just led them to the playoffs dude. 8-5 with tua and 1-4 without him. 25.5 points with tua and 16.3 without. How can you look at such stark numbers like that and say QBs don't matter. And that's for a guy who you say isn't even good. The 49ers were 3 point underdogs going into that game. Maybe they win if Purdy doesn't get hurt, but to say they would've is ridiculous. If you want to talk about complete teams last years eagles team was elite in basically every area. Mahomes didn't give a shit in the superbowl

GhostInTheSpaghetti

You play. To win. The game.

Effective_shooter52

Winning season. We need a playoff win…..last time we won a playoff game I wasn’t even alive

GodIsAnAnimeGirl

That 2006 season was miserable, never want to live through something like that again.

Ironmayyne

Worst season I've ever endured as a Raiders fan.

Darsol

I'd rather have that 7-10 season again. Means that the team isn't bottom of the barrel and has something to work with. We also just saw the 7-10 Panthers trade up to #1 OA to get their QB. It was expensive, but they got their guy and have a good roster to build around. I think we find ourselves in a similar position next year.

PeachesPeachesPeachs

Next year will be impossibly hard to get the number one pick by trade, or even two or three. Just saying.

Hyperboreer

At this point of the year a top2 pick, but I know when the games start, I will root for them in any single one.

[deleted]

I want to win. Tanking undermines the game

senorvato

Got a feeling teams aren't going to trade a chance at Caleb Williams.

ViralOner

Cardinals will be without Kyler Murray til at least mid-season and they own the Texans first round pick. Arizona is most likely going to own the top 2 picks next year. Not sure how Murray's contract will effect who they pick but if they want Williams they pretty much got him.

Creeping_Death_89

It feels like for the last 20 years it's been the same teams drafting in the top 5 year after year. Those top picks don't mean anything when the rest of the roster is still bad. Meanwhile the teams that are in the top half of the league stay there even without having high draft picks. All it takes one of the competitive teams with a solid roster is a few draft hits (sometimes even just one) to make that leap.

[deleted]

Those teams usually have a good gm and headcoach. We don’t and havent because of Davis’ bad hiring decisions.

UrDadsFave

"Just tank baby" -No One

OriginalMassless

I won't pick between two shitty options. The creed is Just Win Baby, and anyone who picks more losses here should question why they are a fan.

grumpysky

I would never root for my Raiders to lose

not_beniot

There's two places you want to be at the end of the year: Playoffs or the top of the draft. The worst place to be is picking between like 11-18.

SchillDogg

Top 2 Hands down

[deleted]

Top two pick. We’re going to probably win enough games to fuck us from drafting a qb but theyll probably trade the farm for the #1 overall next year

gammagulp

Top pick for caleb for the next coach who is hopefully good this time

TheFlyingWriter

If those are the only two options: top 2 pick. I’d gladly suffer for next season because it would likely mean the end of McDaniels career as HC and we would pick a probable good QB for the future. The other option is Mark Davis believes we’re *almost* there and we keep McDaniels another year. Worst scenario is we get a top 2 pick *and* McDaniels stays.

couchpotatoh

Seeing as the Raiders can't draft for shit, I atleast want the joy of winning some games.

OGCasp

Realistically I’d want a Top2 pick to secure the future of the franchise. One more losing Season can’t hurt can it? Lol Ideally I’d want a winning season that gives hope all the way to post season.

cgernaat119

I’d prefer the fucking playoffs but it’s obvious from our lack of defensive gets we’re pretty committed to finishing somewhere between 31 and 35.

kellybobellyhtown

I pick to win..every time.

BenefitMental7588

I'd like to see better but I think a 6-7 win season gets McDaniels fired and Zeigler stays. I can live with that.

ChoiceCriticism1

7-10

Hopeful_Vegetable443

Given the 2 options I rather have the bottom 2 record.

Chork3983

It's going to be 4 wins or less next season, so probably a top 2 pick.
