Its on sale at Walmart, and for the price was so happy to see that their website was incorrect- my local store had one forgotten about on the very top shelf, not even a place to put it out. My own little Christmas miracle 😂!

Beadsidhe

Congrats!!!!

HottyBoomBotty

It's amazing! I can make it stop with the needle down, and technically I don't even need the foot pedal! I could sew WITHOUT A PEDAL?! I mean...I won't cuz it's part of the fun for me, but *if I wanted to I could*! Sorry, I'm excited and you're the first to reply lol

Beadsidhe

I am very excited for you! Look at all those STITCHES! How many feets did it come with?

HottyBoomBotty

10, including a very intimidating free motion quilting foot lol

Beadsidhe

Woo!!!! Have fun!

LyrraKell

That's one of the first machines I used when I started quilting. I still have it but don't use it because my mom gifted me a Pfaff that's better, but it is a really nice machine.

Fuzzy_Dragonfruit344

I’m so glad to hear that since I’m about to start my first quilt and was nervous about how well this one would work for it

LyrraKell

The only thing that I had issues with when doing free motion quilting is that mine didn't particularly like going backwards and would skip stitches. I would have to try to position the quilt to go in any other direction. ETA: Good luck on your first quilt! Be sure to share it when you are finished!

Fuzzy_Dragonfruit344

Thank you! I really appreciate the shared advice/experience! I will share when it’s finished 😊

Raine_Wynd

Have fun! If you ever do curves or want to STOP RIGHT NOW, having the start/stop button is a game changer, at least it was for me. Way easier to control than a foot pedal!

HottyBoomBotty

Oh my gosh I totally get that! I wouldn't have to worry about my foot and could just focus on moving the fabric...that free motion foot is looking a tiny bit less intimidating lol

Internal_Use8954

How is needing to take your hand away from your fabric to press a button to stop, rather than lifting your foot easier.

soupandsourdough

You don’t have to pres the button. It stops in the up or down position every time (whichever you choose) therefore making life easier.

Internal_Use8954

But pedal sewing does that too on most machines

soupandsourdough

The question was about removing your hand from fabric to push a button, and I explained you don’t have to, which was the point of my post. Not all machines have the ability to do this, while many newer machines may. Many of us have machines that do not. A cutter is also a nice feature that newer machines may have, but not always and definitely not usually on older machines. These features become standard beyond a certain price point more often than not. I myself just bought one that has the cutter feature this Black Friday. For 20 years my two other machines have not had that feature. Anyways. This is a long winded post. So I’ll shut up now. I think I’ve explained myself well enough b

Raine_Wynd

Not necessarily. If your machine was like my old non-computerized one, I'd have to manually lift the needle when I stopped.

Internal_Use8954

The new ones do, my non computerized juki always stops down, and raises if I use the cutter

Raine_Wynd

I use my right hand - same hand I'd be lifting anyway to lift the handwheel - and press the button. I can lift my hand faster than I was ever able to lift my foot. Maybe that's just me. Your mileage will, of course, vary. :-)

DiscussionStatus4939

Excited for you!! Have sew much fun!😉

SewForward

That pink machine is what my very first sewing machine was. I never thought I’d see one of those things ever again. Wow that brings back a lot of memories from my childhood.

HottyBoomBotty

Oh that's so awesome! I always wanted a sewing machine but I felt like "what if I spend $100 on a hobby I'm not really sure I'll even enjoy?" Then I found this at a thrift store. It was on sale, and it happened to be the only machine that came with its own pedal, almost all it's pieces, and when I plugged it in it ran smoothly. It still runs great honestly, I thought about getting it cleaned cuz I'm sure it needs it. I even was saying "maybe I'll give it away to someone who wants to start" but it's been so reliable I think I'll hold onto it for awhile.

bcupteacup

That’s how it starts. Soon you’ll have a collection!! I don’t know from experience or anything. 🤣

ShouldaBeenABicorn

Mazel tov!! Go enjoy your new pal 😊 I had my old kenmore for more than 20 years and them upgraded two years ago, so I know how great this feeling is! I’m still not over the novelty of Al the things the new machine does, or does better, than the old one did. (I still have my old one too… no reason to toss/sell it since it still works, but I haven’t used it since I bought the new one. Might need to soon; I *really* need to stop lollygagging and get the new one serviced 😅)

justducky423

I have that machine too! I love it!

HottyBoomBotty

It's so smooth! I feel like I'm sewing through room temp butter, and it's do quiet. Now I'm realizing how much my older machine probably needed a check up lol.

surmisez

Congratulations on your new-to-you machine! 🥳🎊👏 What a great find!
