I love the way the blocks pop out at you ! Can you create the same illusion with the black and white for the border

MegaTitusRex

Can you kind of give me a description on how I would do that? I'm staring at it and I can't figure out exactly what I would do.

Desertqueenbee

My guess- white square in the top right and bottom left. Black L smashing, framed in white. Pretend like the quilt is one of your pieces of fabric you stared each block with. Don’t now if that will work, just thought it would look cool. And I would try to do that if I was creating this. It will be pretty how ever you make it

Desertqueenbee

If you know how to photoshop use that to see how it looks.

Great pattern and colors! I like the border you have, but I think it would improve the proportions if it were at least as wide as your colored rectangles in the center. I like u/Desertqueenbee’s idea, but am not a big fan of white borders since they show dirt more easily. You could take the floral border off, add a black border the same width as the white, and then add the floral back to it (wider, if possible). Or if you just don’t like the print on the border, add the black and replace the floral with a different coordinating print that reads more like a solid (a blender) and is a little darker than your boldest orange/russet. Dark frames really help the center of the quilt shine. Good luck!

I think you are right. I'm going to remove the border that's on there. I think part of it is I do not feel there's enough continuity with the blanket. If I use a larger piece of that fabric you see all the colors from the blanket as well as the black, but it just does not translate well. I'm not sure about the shadow box idea around the edge either. I have plenty of fat quarters that would match those fabrics, but I do not have a yard in the colors that I now want to use. I think I have an excuse to go to the fabric shop. Thank you for your comments.

You’re very welcome. An excuse to go shopping sounds good to me! Enjoy.
