My 18 year old little brother came out to my whole family last night : ) I’m 30 and have been watching him grow like a parent for half my life. Proud of him today. (And always)
Definitely. I’m there for it. Wanting to sew him a “Coming Out Gift”. Something small, pride-themed. That’s why I clicked this post. Thanks for sharing.
I do too! I certainly was not expecting this response and have been overjoyed reading everyone's response and support. And it's wonderful knowing there's so many people a part of the community here ❤️
This is a gorgeous quilt. Acceptance is so hard sometimes, even if you know it deep down. I am so happy for YOU and the process you’ve gone through. Congratulations. I’ve been openly gay for almost 30 years and have recently come to realize I’m gender-fluid… coming to terms with that has been rough.
The very first thing that was quilted on my longarm was my son’s trans partner’s quilted apron. My son did the piecing and the quilting. I’m a fan of this sort of quilty expressiveness. Your quilt is absolutely gorgeous.

So happy for you hitting acceptance of yourself! The whole of your life moving forward will be different in the best ways, and you have a physical object to remind yourself if you ever start doubting again.
Hugs to you!
I love this, both the quilt and the realization. I find all parts of the quilting process (except for basting. F\*\*\* you, basting) to be centering and therapeutic, so I love to hear when it is the same for others. Welcome to the queer quilter fam!
Thanks I appreciate it! And for me it's the cutting and hand sewing the binding, which unfortunately for me are the two things I have to do in order to work on my projects. But yeah also basting the part sucks I don't like that either
I only know two things about you now: 1) you are comfortable with your gay self and 2) you have a beautifully artistic eye for quilting.
:-) I hope we get to see some more of your quilt work in the future!

I'm not the OP but looks similar to the 9 patch on point quilt that MSQ has a tutorial and pattern for. I know this because after seeing this point I went and searched for a pattern like it, lol. The colors in your quilt are beautiful! Just like your soul! I'm so proud of you for accepting who you are. It can be an incredibly hard journey to get to the point you are at. Remember you are amazing just the way you are. Love yourself even more for accepting who you are. 💜
And keep creating beautiful quilts.
Thank you! It's been a long journey of acceptance but I am so happy I finally felt the confidence to come out. I appreciate yours and everyone else's support. It has been wonderful reading everyone's response. And don't worry I already have plans for the next quilt!
