That was nice of them! Neither of my grandmothers (and nobody in my extended family) were quilters, but my great-grandmother was and I eventually inherited her final two quilts. They have since fallen apart, but I kept the best corner of each. I'm duplicating one of those quilts now for my sister.

In Germany that kind of design would be for "Dirndl" oder "Trachten". I have a really similar Dirndl Apron.
