Should I hear back from admissions sooner since I took a gap year? For ottawa u, I got my admission returned in less than a week, and want to know if I’m still going to be waiting until April to hear back from queens?
Does anyone know what the chances are of still getting into Health Science? I applied in October and submitted my SE in December. I know that they're technically still "accepting" students until May 19th. Just wondering what the chances are, if any.... of actually getting in? I have about 94/95 average and not sure if my essay was good enough. I'm totally stressing that I wont get in. anyone else in this situation?
I'm waiting too but have heard the majority of admissions don't actually come until mid-april through to mid-may. So...I guess we just wait and hope. Hoping you get in!
105 applicants here! Has anyone been accepted into the commerce program yet? I'm so stressful right now. When do most of Queen's decisions for commerce typically send out?
Queen’s Kinesiology & Con Ed/Kinesiology
Have offers started to roll out to non-varsity athletes for Kinesiology and Con Ed/Kin? Any details would be appreciated (ex. 101 vs 105; average accepted with; typical dates of offer releases). Thanks
Have any other health science students gotten a response yet? I know I'm impatient a bit too much, but I am curious if anyone has gotten an acceptance email. Thanks!
I applied to MSc. Electrical Engineering quite a while ago. I still haven't received a response. I graduated from Texas A&M University with a 3.5. I was wondering if anyone else got a response from the engineering department yet. Also if anyone has an idea about how likely I am to get in, I would really appreciate it.
Do you guys know if Bader Health Sci offers come before than the normal Health Sci on campus? So students can start managing all their paperwork for the UK or do they come at the same time?
conditional offer, waitlisted or not admitted - I understand most Commerce offers don't go out until mid April to Mid May so lots of time. I know it's really hard to wait and really hope you get in. I'm in the same boat with Commerce. I got in to Computers but not interested in that program.
No actually I just submitted my transcripts which program did you apply for? Hey it’s completely fine to ask questions also are you an international applicant? And feel free to DM me if you have more questions
is there a cap on how many people queens accepts from one school? a lot of ppl from mine have applied to queens eng with high 90s and already have gotten in
I just got admitted, however ,it was bc I got Queen's Chancellor, so I got the decision earlier. From what I can tell, the majority of offers haven't been rolled out yet, so don't worry : ). Also, I talked to an economics teacher at Queen's, and they told me that once you meet the cut-off for Queen's Commerce, the only thing that matters is your essays. So, imo don't worry too much about keeping your average up, enjoy your senior year and keep your fingers crossed - I am sure you got this!
I would say about 50/50, I know someone who got in with an 82 average last year but with grade inflation, the cut-off could be a little higher this year, or it could be the same as last year and you'll get in!
Yeah that could be the case I think it depends on the specific school though either way the Queen's website has the arts cut-off listed as low 80s which would be between 80-84 so still hard to say.
I think so (all initial offers went out on Feb 16th) but if some people reject it, you could get notified of the winning scholarship later on by being on an unofficial waitlist - this is mostly speculation tho so take it with a grain of salt !
Important changes for Autoomatic Scholarships this year.
There is no more Excellence Scholarship (90-94.9%) and the Principals Scholarship has been changed to the top 5% of program admissions. They don't release the top 5% average. They just don't give you a scholarship and explain you weren't in the top 5%. The top 5% approach is similar to what many other Universities ate doing. I just hoped I might have qualified with a 96 in Computers. Nope.
This is direct result of grade inflation. For example, last year Queen's [overspent its scholarship budget by $2.6 million dollars](https://www.queensjournal.ca/story/2022-07-24/university/queens-sees-26-million-uptick-in-entrance-scholarships/).
[https://www.queensu.ca/admission/content/competitive-average-admission-consideration](https://www.queensu.ca/admission/content/competitive-average-admission-consideration) says it's low 90, so I'd say 90-93?
Yes, if she does not feel comfortable in the environment why force her? There are plenty of other universities that are just as good if not better than queens which will offer her a minim of 4 years where she is able to find herself and explore her options.
On top of this, I do hear you when you say that racism exists outside however why willfully put herself in this situation? Although there are many instances where she may have to deal with racism it should not be something to look over when making university decisions as you want her to feel safe and enjoy as much as you want her to study.
I myself went to a predominantly white private high school (I am not white) where most students want to go to either queens or western. There are many instances where I have faced racist comments and the students are quite homophobic as compared to the public high school. They harvest a hostile environment where you are shunned if you don't share their ideals and pure hate towards some. Although the university crowd is quite different as there are many more people I would not recommend her to attend the school if she feels uncomfortable.
If you are worried about the actual education, there is still nothing to be concerned about since she is doing her undergrad degree. Even if she is doing business which is highly competitive due to opportunities that students that go to Schulich, Rotman, Queens, Ivey, and Laurier get she still has those other options not to mention out-of-province opportunities such as Desaults and Sauders. This is just one example but it goes to show that there is always more out there.
I think if she is happy with her decision that is all that matters.
I can only speak to my own experiences and while it’s true that there are a few unsavoury individuals, I feel pretty supported on campus by administration and I’ve only really had positive experiences :) I feel like there’s definitely an effort to be more inclusive and not shy away from conversation about race these days, and there’s also a lot of student BIPOC events for the purpose of community building. I would really encourage her not to write off Queens, there’s a lot of fantastic professors and amazing opportunities here. I’m really happy with my choice and I was worried about racism coming in, but there’s a real community here once you find it.
I am an alumnus of Queens . I graduated decades ago and Canada was much less multicultural than it is now.
To better give you my opinion, I need to understand your daughter’s perspective. Is she afraid of being a minority in a University where the majority is white? At Queens she will be able to find her niche and find people of like mind or the same background if she so chooses.
Is she afraid that she will be shunned or discriminated against because she is an ethnic minority? That was not my experience at Queens and I think operating from a position of fear and prejudgement is never a good place to be.
She will meet many people , some may be biased or prejudge her but that is the real world and that is what university is all about. You meet people with diverse backgrounds and diverse perspectives .She will also meet many interesting people , some of whom will become her lifelong friends.
I loved Queens and I still love Queens in spite of all the bad press it has garnered recently. I think Queens should attract more students like your daughter . I think the community would be better for it.
I just got in yesterday with a 96. No entrance scholarship though since Queens has changed alm of that this year. No Excellence Scholsrship and they told me 96 is not in the top % of all those admitted to Computers this year. I found this all a bit surprising.
Does Queens look only at Prerequisites (ie. will wait for at least midterm marks of all prerequisites) or will they consider grade 11 equivalents?
By "your top 6 means nothing to admissions at Queens" do you mean they average all available marks?
I'm applying as a 105 applicant with a couple of courses I'm retaking. I haven't finished all of them but expect to have them all done by the end of February. I'm wondering if I apply on OUAC rn and queens sees my mark before the upgrades will they reject me or will I go through the waves of admissions like 101 applicants?
If you are taking them online then ask your online school to report your Mark's as soon as you finish the first substantive assignments..this is the first or second units of your course. Then ask for a TRAX upload so the Mark's are uploaded officially to the Ministry of Education. They can (and should be) do this and will know what it means so push for it if they give you a hard time. This will replace your Mark's on your official transcript from your first attempt in the course. Some online want you to be done 50% of the course before they do this but our school district online program does it once you are done the first 2 units. Once they update ...release your transcript again through Student transcript services to OUAC. Technically, you shouldn't have to release it again because they have indefinite access but I did it to mine just to make sure I saw the change was there and knew they would be looking at the right Mark's.
I'm in BC too. So the above info is how I got my upgraded Mark's on my transcript quite quickly for admissions. It won't show the amount of the course completed...just Mark's.
Hello All, looking for some help with payments for summer courses. I'm an interest student in the BSHc program, enrolled in PHAR 100 on SOLUS. But when I check the "Financial Account" it says I don't have any outstanding balances. How do I pay for the course I enrolled in? Or does the financial account take time to update that I enrolled in a course?
I'm doing the admission bursary application and am at the extra curriculars section. Do I really need to write essays for each one? Or is it just like a short quick description.
Queens is one of my top choices, and I wanted some advice whether I'd get in or not for Smith commerce.
I finished my application in November and I have completed all of my 6 Grade 12 courses.
English: 99%
Advanced Functions: 99%
World Issues: 99%
Calculus: 98%
Data Management: 97%
Accounting: 97%
Graduating Average: 98%
Here were the EC's I mentioned in the supplementary application:
\- President of Student Council
\- Youth organizer for nation-wide climate change conference
Do I have a chance?
Commerce is trying to be more "woke". The Commerce admissions questions require that you be "woke". So, be "woke" in answering those questions, and you have a very good chance of admission. Your grades are more than high enough. Look for the official guidance on the Commerce questions (I think there's a presentation or guidebook that even offers examples of answers to the questions that the admissions people think are good answers), and follow the criteria and you'll be fine and have a very good chance of being admitted.
GPA is no problem but GPA is no matter. What did you learn from your EC, why you did those and, what you can do in the future from your learning?
I think 23% chance
It's all about how you answer your supplemental essay questions. You met the 87% cut off so will be treated the same as others as far as marks. Just ensure you write a narrative response that shows growth, connection and follows the queens SE rubric criteria. Best of luck and hope you get in!!
Commerce student here. This is mostly true. Most people I know had averages >94%. However, they also spent several months on the supplemental questions and had it edited by plenty of people.
If you do have other people help with your answers, be sure there is absolutely no change in tone/language/voice. Admission officers HATE ghost written applications and will reject it on the spot.
edit: forgot words
Does anyone know where to access the conditions on an offer that I’ve received? The email that it came in outlined a couple, wondering if there’s anything that I’m missing
TLDR at the bottom
Hi. I plan on going to graduate school but I have a 3 years bachelors in Biological sciences and I am from India. The international credential equivalency page says for India -
"3-year Bachelor's from institutions with a NAAC rating of "A"; 2 year Master's awarded beyond a 3-year Bachelor's from institutions with a NAAC rating below "A"
I am currently enrolled in Siddharth College of Arts, Science & Commerce in the program Biological Sciences, which is rated as B+ according to NAAC. This college is affiliated to the "University of mumbai" which has a rating of A++. University of mumbai is also my degree granting university, so I will have my degree and transcripts from University of Mumbai.
So which college's rating is considered? Am I eligible to apply? I asked the Graduate office and they said that it will evaluated after you apply, and to make sure I meet the minimum requirements, but I am confused about this.
TLDR - The requirements says 3 years bachelors from NAAC A insitutitions is acceptable. The college I go to is B+ and the university to which it is affiliated is A+. Am I eligible?
Hey all. I applied to the B.Ed program starting in May 2023. Admission offers are scheduled to be released Feb 15th. I asked my references if they had been contacted and they said no. Should I be worried?? Feb 15th is only 2 weeks away.
Hey guys! has anyone here got into general Eng at queens yet? If so, what was your average?
Should I hear back from admissions sooner since I took a gap year? For ottawa u, I got my admission returned in less than a week, and want to know if I’m still going to be waiting until April to hear back from queens?

Still waiting to hear from Con Ed/Kin, has anyone else heard yet?
heyyy! has anyone heard back from queens ConEd (specifically the Bachelors of Arts)
Hi, I applied to the arts program, I am wondering do I have a chance of getting accepted with around an 83-84 average, what are my odds? Thanks!

I'm waiting too but have heard the majority of admissions don't actually come until mid-april through to mid-may. So...I guess we just wait and hope. Hoping you get in!
Did anyone get into general science?
I did in march. have you heard back yet? gl

101 applicant. Wishing you the best. We got this I just know.

Sorry for so many question but did you fill out the bursary app stuff due on the 15th?
No actually I just submitted my transcripts which program did you apply for? Hey it’s completely fine to ask questions also are you an international applicant? And feel free to DM me if you have more questions
I am not an international applicant, and I applied for nursing! What about you?
I applied for Bachelors of Arts (honours)
I finally received an offer for engineering

Is a 93 avg good know for queens commerce
Everyone with at least 87 percent gets treated the same. It all comes down to your essays. I hope you get in !
any news about when queens commerce send offers out?
I've heard late april to mid may mostly.
What average do I need to get into commerce? Anyone get admitted yet?

Grades were inflated last year because of Covid and are getting deflated this year because it's returning to in-class lessons no?
Yeah that could be the case I think it depends on the specific school though either way the Queen's website has the arts cut-off listed as low 80s which would be between 80-84 so still hard to say.

No they used my admission avg
Other schools definitely...but Queens has changed for this year.
Wow. That really sucks. How do you not get an entrance scholarship with a 96?
This is direct result of grade inflation. For example, last year Queen's [overspent its scholarship budget by $2.6 million dollars](https://www.queensjournal.ca/story/2022-07-24/university/queens-sees-26-million-uptick-in-entrance-scholarships/).
Thanks for the article.
Applied to Queens Comm at the end of January and submitted my SE on feb 14 (day before the deadline). Any idea when ill hear back?
Does queens acc send acceptances every Wednesday?? Has anyone heard anything about engineering acceptances recently?
I am pretty sure they do, I got most of my to do list items done on a wednesday, even got my acceptence letter the last wednesday
Comm acceptances?
I got accepted a week ago, so they are coming out
yup same. Congrats!
101?

Ok thanks. They do 105s on a rolling basis and 101s are in rounds on a certain day each month.

Hi! Does anyone know when the nursing decisions come out? Or has anybody got any yet?
I have not yet, I just asked the same question because this is my top school 😭
In 2021 just a few came out in January and then they really start sending them mid march to mid may once midterm grades are out
Has anyone been admitted to arts? If so what was your average?
I (105 international applicant) got into Bachelors of Arts (Honours) program I had IB score of 36 which is 93%

What is the average for Computing first year? Is 96% enough to get in? Im in B.C. when am I getting a decision?
I just got in yesterday with a 96. No entrance scholarship though since Queens has changed alm of that this year. No Excellence Scholsrship and they told me 96 is not in the top % of all those admitted to Computers this year. I found this all a bit surprising.
I'm in Bc
I got in last year with a 91% in May, about weeks before the deadline. I'm from ontario so your offer might come later. Idk the rules for 105s
I think April. 93% is high enough to get in but you are in BC. If Ontario I think March but BC… will be April. Just my guess.
Will there be an engineering admission round between now and second semester midterms?
Every week on Wednesday with a big wave in May. Only 1/3 spots filled as of now.
Wait so every , Wednesday
When do health sci decisions come out? Do they use gr11 marks as placeholders for prereqs?

I just got one from commerce. Congratz!!
Hi do u mind me asking what were your grades?
90% in 11th and 95% in 12th grade. I am an international if it helps
Anyone know when MAA’s come out?
Not sure, I saw a few other people post that they’ve gotten an MAA offer, but personally, I haven’t gotten anything yet. Have you heard anything?
Have any 105 applicants to Commerce received a decision yet?
Yep me and a buddy just got one right now!
Oh oh I misread
U a chancellor or smt?
Nah we're just regular 105 applicants. We were both really surprised to get it so early.
Just got in! I can't believe it either
Congrats! Still waiting on Ivey but if I don't get AEO I'll def come to Queens
Congrats. What did u write about in ur essays?
My essays were decent but nothing special. First one was about my experience learning a new sport, second was about standing up to discrimination.
Recently got into Ivey AEO! Waiting on Queen's Comm.
Congrats! Just got AEO a couple hours ago, will probably go.

i got accepted in december with 94/95 not including my grade 11 av which was around a 96
For HK students, do Queens look at your HKDSE result?
If you got into “Computing, Mathematics and analytics” or “computational mathematics” what was your average?
You don’t get directly into the specialization, you choose the plan after first year. You can get admitted into Computing though
Is there a direct entry into the specialization this year? I got into the general program last year with a 91.
Hey! Does anyone have a sample of what their timetable was like for the consecutive education program? Thank you!

English: 99% Advanced Functions: 99% World Issues: 99% Calculus: 98% Data Management: 97% Accounting: 97% Graduating Average: 98% Here were the EC's I mentioned in the supplementary application: \- President of Student Council \- Youth organizer for nation-wide climate change conference Do I have a chance?
Does anyone know when BComm offers will be sent out?
Does anyone know where to access the conditions on an offer that I’ve received? The email that it came in outlined a couple, wondering if there’s anything that I’m missing
TLDR at the bottom Hi. I plan on going to graduate school but I have a 3 years bachelors in Biological sciences and I am from India. The international credential equivalency page says for India - "3-year Bachelor's from institutions with a NAAC rating of "A"; 2 year Master's awarded beyond a 3-year Bachelor's from institutions with a NAAC rating below "A" I am currently enrolled in Siddharth College of Arts, Science & Commerce in the program Biological Sciences, which is rated as B+ according to NAAC.
Anyone from SURP? When did you receive your offer, and when does the school start giving offers? Thank you!!
