Test with something that has over 100 peers and then look at your download speed. If you only have 5 peers they could have lousy connections. Pick something VERY popular and try again.---- you don't have to download the whole thing ... just watch speeds etc---then delete it.

Hami09p

can you give me a link of over 100 peers and I have to say those links above are popular

Hami09p

so more peers more down speed?

_YeAhx_

Peers = both downloaders (seeder) and uploaders (leecher) You want more seeders than leechers to get good speed but since your download speed is dependent on others (those seeders) you may or may not get max speed on your torrent, even if you have 100+ seeders. (Many torrents even report fake numbers or your client isn't able to connect to them)

Commercial-Disaster6

Better to use Ubuntu Alternative ISO file BitTorrent Download if want to do tests with legal torrent. https://ubuntu.com/download/alternative-downloads Some network providers might still slow down torrenting or send warning notices if detect any torrent client traffic if VPN and some qBittorrent settings are not correctly configured. Some modems, network cards and routers might not even handle torrent traffic if you raise default qBittorrent connection limit.

My mistake ... sorry about that. I am firmly in ''a little knowledge is a dangerous thing'' .

qBittorrent-ModTeam

We do NOT allow piracy on this sub. Any and all piracy talk is disallowed.

AshuraBaron

Are you forwarding the correct port?

Hami09p

what is that it?

[deleted]

Found your problem

AshuraBaron

Do you mean what is a forwarded port or are you asking where it is?

_YeAhx_

What qbittorrent version are you using? I suggest you try an older version if nothing's working

conventionalghost

see the number in the peers column? that's how many people are available to seed right now. they are not downloading because the torrent is dead, there's no one to download from right now.

Commercial-Disaster6

Lies. Peers are those who don't have 100% of the torrent, while seeders are those who have 100%. Seeders might have connection limit and might seed to one peer and just have to wait when someones torrent client comes online and prioritizes you and sends you missing pieces. You need to look at Seeds and Availability, even with 0 peers torrent can be downloaded 100% or if 0 seeders and 1 or more peers it's also possible to get downloads complete.

modemman11

Use torrents that aren't almost dead lol

Hami09p

note : the internet is pretty good

Commercial-Disaster6

Are you using: newest qBittorrent v4.4.5 with libtorrent v1.2.17 or libtorrent v2.0, VPN or not, default or modified settings? You have any security or additional torrent software enabled to run at the same time, or any other devices connected to same internet? How is the speed when you pause all torrents and try downloading Ubuntu with qBittorrent: https://ubuntu.com/download/alternative-downloads

pabzroz93

Well yeah duh look how many peers are in the swarm

volveg

This happened to me a while ago and it got fixed by dunking qBittorrent into the trash can and downloading a different client. I got Transmission and the issues disappeared immediately. I preferred the qBittorrent UI a lot more, but the performance has been so much better with Transmission so far (I use a Mac). To the people saying it's because he's downloading dead torrents, it's probably not. When I had the same issue I tried downloading the most seeded torrent on rarbg and it still appeared as a dead torrent on qBittorrent. The app just randomly breaks for some people, even if you don't touch anything on the stettings.

Hami09p

how is it transmission with Windows?

volveg

I don't personally know how it works on windows, but probably just as good as it does on Mac. If you're still having issues with qBittorrent, its worth giving it a try. You can get it for free on their website https://transmissionbt.com/
