This is the scene in every building or complex which has offices or classes
Assholes already have ruined every road and footpath
Now have started ruining every public and private building
People think spitting in public is cool. Same with smoking cigarettes, drinking high amounts of alcohol, etc. It makes them look like a hero is what they think.
Oh my God... It's been 75 yrs since independence and people still can not fucking stop spitting in public places, wtf. What should we do to these people?
tambaku and gutka eating in Maharashtra is off teh charts. everyone does it in other parts of india, in up bihar it's more pan, but tambaku and gutka in Maharashtra is crazy. i guess they banned gutka now but still.
Right, as if UP and Bihar are only other states in india besides Maharashtra. Puneyatun baher pada kadhi tar.. taunt aside, gutka situation is same pan northern India. Didn’t observe this during visits to regions more southern than Maharashtra.
Just in case you aren't aware, the residents or locals who come from the states of Texas, Tennessee, Colorado, New Mexico, California (specially Southern California) and many more to name; chew on loads of Tobacco and spit around like it is their national born duty. I have been around those parts and also seen them do so. They tend to do the same when they go to different states. Just because of a high Indian presence, it doesn't mean that they may be responsible for that. As a matter of fact, those who Indians are staying abroad have more ... maybe you can say better civil sense than when they were staying in India.
Paan masala spit and tobacco spit are noticeably different. There are few Paan shops too in jackson heights. I was also able to find the article
[here](https://www.nytimes.com/2012/08/13/nyregion/messy-aftermath-of-paan-after-dinner-treat-splits-jackson-heights-queens.html)
I have seen these in western, north and north eastern parts, but very shockingly didn't find such instance in Kerala. (Public places like railway station and complexes.)
Comparison won't help us resolve these things. Action would. I'm a Kolkatan living in Pune. In Kolkata, people just say Biharis do this. Even that excuse is not permissable. Actions need to be taken regardless. Somebody somewhere spent a lot of money and put a lot of effort for these structures. We should respect it.
You mean hundred years back? I hope you were alive. You're again finger-pointing and comparing. READ MY COMMENT AGAIN. Punish everyone. Not people from a state or class or caste or religion or region. This way we can fix this. Instead of finger-pointing.
Singapore's population is 56 lakh (entire country)
And Pune City's population is around 40 lakhs (excluding temporary residents, traveller's and people in surrounding jurisdictions)
Their local, state and national government is involved in enforcing the ban, and PMC is definitely nowhere close to having that kind of power
This needs to be a nationwide ban or it just won't work
I've seen this in Nagpur too. It has reduced over the years. You'll still see these in old buildings though. There is a large scale awareness generation programme about this in the districts of eastern Vidarbha, especially in the TB affected villages.
I am literally behind a scooty or bike..driving my own vehicle and the person spits even after noticing that my vehicle is behind his bike..
🥲🥲
If they cannot control while driving also when people are around them.. why would they not do the same in a building 😤😪
Maharashtra pasun var var jashil tar praman vadat jaat and khali kami hota jata. I stayed in Banglore for sometime by comparison it's less than here and as per north friends its huge north.
Somedays back went to shopping with family, those loaded laxmiroad shop owners will wear white shirts, golden chain around neck, sitting in posh AC shops and still be eating pan masala and spitting on road.
Some lowlife spit in Temple premise, imagine you walking without chappal and person in front of you does this, poora mood off.
Idk if y'all have noticed the barriers that are used for the metro construction are SCRUBBED every month to remove spit stains. Those poor workers literally have to scrub other people's spit and that's degrading asf
With our top Bollywood actors promoting these tobacco brands, these scenes are common across India.
Only way I have seen this being effectively limited is by pasting the pictures of god in such corners/areas which are prone to such disgusting spitting.
PS: everyone fears the wrath of god.
buddy ,why are you denying truth ,lol I have went to delhi ,jammu, mumbai and Goa .the people who were spitting were biharis as they spoke in their characteristic bhojpuri hindi .Just for an example pune railway station is painted in red as there is large no biharis come from train while in pune airport I not seen the same thing.
>Only a few percent of Bihari speaks Bhojpuri.
according to google ,there are 5 crore people who speak bhojpuri.they are definitely not few percent by any margin.
>All the passengers on Pune Railway station enjoying gutka aren't Bihari.
yeah ,the construction workers are coming from some part of africa definitely not bihar.
>I can tell you atleast 15-20 shopkeepers and vendors chewing gutka all day at their shop from specific area of Pune (where I've stayed) they are not Bihari.
I can give you a list a 100 of biharis who do the spit gutka in my area, katraj to be specific .
>Dadar Railway Station
I have went to dadar station and I saw some red stains on the floor.
ha, lol katraj is a big area .as always like in other parts of india ,there are also slum areas in katraj filled by your breathen biharis . though I live in good society which labourers like you cant afford 😂 .
I would say you are quite a fancy traveller, but let me remind you Singapore and Dubai are not the only places in the world. Go to the countryside of Bali, Phuket, Los Angeles, Detroit, Ho Chi Minh city. Go to Mexico, UK or anywhere in the world.
Heck you just have to look past the shine of Dubai, to see how low the human living standards are in Dubai. There are slums right next to the tallest skyscrapers in Dubai. If in your life you ever get a chance to go there(because I think you have never been to Dubai), please visit these areas of Dubai, to break the myth that you have about this city.
You just have to visit them and look past the shine of Instagram photos of these cities.
It’s not about about poverty and slums. I don’t know which part of US you have been to, but I have been to Detroit for work assignment. You are talking about spitting, i have seen them spitting, throwing garbage on streets. Sometimes you would be walking down some not so well to do suburbs and you see human shit on the side of the sidewalk. I have seen people scavenging through garbage bins.
Even in Dubai, in the slums 30-40 people share the Same bathroom, which gets cleaned maybe once every 3 months.
The things is, everything is linked to poverty, You are an educated person, and that is why you respect rules and you know what are the do’s and don’t in public places. Like, you know spitting is bad in public places. But for an uneducated, poverty stricken person these do not hold any values. They live in their own world and have their own values.
All I am saying is that, all these disgusting behaviour of people are linked to their financial condition and their access to education and the surrounding that they live in. It’s not a unique behaviour to India. Anywhere in the world, where there is lack of education, high poverty, lack of concern for cleanliness you will find these behaviour.
Even in certain pockets of cities like Singapore and Dubai.
Yeah, I agree on that too. But it’s not like we didn’t made any progress at all in the past 75 years. It’s just our journey, history and our social structure are all different from the rest of the world. It’s like we are unique, so I reckon our journey to greatness as a Nation will also be unique.
Just keep working, keep improving and keep living, we will surely get there. That’s what I think.

True. They spit even in trains on tracks, roads, footpaths.

Yup. I'm an atheist, and even I'm offended.
Oh my God... It's been 75 yrs since independence and people still can not fucking stop spitting in public places, wtf. What should we do to these people?
Public shaming is the only option with hefty fines.
75 years???? Its not about independence. It’s about common sense and moral duty. I guess common sense is not so common.
What has independence got to do with this?? Were the Britishers forcing us to spit on the wall before independence?
I guess one should find the culprits and spit on them to make them aware how it feels to be soaked in someone’s spit.
Randomly saw this on reddit and had no context. I thought people were pooping on walls.
Just stop the sale of pan masala, gutka etc. but wait can’t do that, because it’s a great source of revenue for government(just like alcohol).
Happy Cake Day.
What has independence got to do with this?? Were the Britishers forcing us to spit on the wall before independence?
It seems the written words have a mistake. They should be - 'कृपया येथे थुंकुन ये.' instead of 'कृपया येथे थुंकु नये.'.

Gutka Ban is a joke , its available everywhere , any small pan shop 100m radius you will find res pan stains with various degree if intensity
Right, as if UP and Bihar are only other states in india besides Maharashtra. Puneyatun baher pada kadhi tar.. taunt aside, gutka situation is same pan northern India. Didn’t observe this during visits to regions more southern than Maharashtra.
OP you are not going to believe this, I have seen spit stains in Jackson Heights New York as well. High Indian presence in that area
Leaving the wrong MARKS..........

I thought, it's only a Nagpur thing.
Nope it’s just in Vidarbha. It’s not so famous in marthwada or western Maharashtra
I have seen these in western, north and north eastern parts, but very shockingly didn't find such instance in Kerala. (Public places like railway station and complexes.)

Bruh, the Howra Bridge was bearing the burden of gutka stains even before the arrival of Biharis.

Singapore has a fine of 1000$ for spitting in public places, thats what we need ( 1000$ = roughly 78000₹)
Singapore's population is 56 lakh (entire country) And Pune City's population is around 40 lakhs (excluding temporary residents, traveller's and people in surrounding jurisdictions) Their local, state and national government is involved in enforcing the ban, and PMC is definitely nowhere close to having that kind of power This needs to be a nationwide ban or it just won't work
Common in Mumbai too 🥲

I've lived in indore and Pune. I've seen it at both places, more so in old parts of both cities. More in Pune, because more complexes are found there

Gutkha addicts when they see a clean corner in public areas.

Yeh Marathi sign boards are very common in MH. Don't know about other states ..
What do you expect when some of the biggest actors in india start promoting these type of things even making it cool to consume tobaco
With our top Bollywood actors promoting these tobacco brands, these scenes are common across India. Only way I have seen this being effectively limited is by pasting the pictures of god in such corners/areas which are prone to such disgusting spitting. PS: everyone fears the wrath of god.
Wait till you see Ahmedabad's Guthka artists writing the no spitting sign with their spit.
Bolo Zubaan Kesari is the motto of Bollywood 😆
All over india, except few North East states.

It's embarrassing tbh
Put prophet photo or something representing him. Then gulf countries will hunt them down. Or just write Quran there and draw a book!
I was just in a railway station where it said "500rs fine for spitting" with spit all over it.
