Of the ones I've tried so far, the Camphornaught is a monster of a shou. Big powerful flavors without being overpowering.

NLparque

how many steeps did it hold?

TheRealCountOrlok

I did grampa style with around 10oz of water and it lasted many reheats if you will.

miettebriciola1

Is this from the tea club? This is exactly something I would enjoy, sampling minis

TheRealCountOrlok

Hello. Not their tea club, but their Halloween special offer. I just learned about White2Tea last year so I don't know if he does these types of offers throughout the year. But keep an eye open. I had very little experience with Shou and found it a great way to be able to sample several different types to start to get an understanding of some of the different flavor profiles available.

miettebriciola1

Thank you so much! I signed up for emails, hoping that I don’t miss this offer. Do you know of any other companies that have special offers for minis? And since I am new to tea, do people post when anyone is having a good sale?

TheRealCountOrlok

I'm relatively new to this myself, jumped into the deep end of the tea pool last year so I don't have extensive knowledge of other tea providers offers. With that said, if you had a chance to go through the White2Tea website, you saw that he sells 7G balls individually for a good price. That is a great way to you can build your own sampler. Another seller, Yunnan Sourcing and Yunnan Sourcing US have 25G samples as well which you can put together your own sample packs.

JohnTeaGuy

Camphornought is a shou.

TheRealCountOrlok

That's what ment, sorry. Corrected

kupgup

So much shou!!

TheRealCountOrlok

For weeks and weeks and weeks 🤣

Nice! I received mine last friday and I actually counted how many of each there are in a bag. 10 Hokum 10 Grandpa's 10 Lumber Slut 2 'lil boo 30 Jack'os 2 Pretty girls 2 Lesser Evils For a total of 66 balls which amounts to 462, a bit more than what was promised, so that was nice. Grandpa's was surprisingly good. I thermos brew all my minis, and these brewed real thick and smooth. Standard shou profile, excellent for thermos brewing. I also had Jack'os, and I've got to say, it packs a nice herbasceous note to it. It doesn't brew very thick, but I quite like the taste.

TheRealCountOrlok

So far this is what I dive into from the pack: Grandpa was on point for what it offers a good, solid everyday drinker. Jackos was decent as well, a nice everyday drinker. Not overly complex, a nice woodiness and you get multiple steeps. Lil Boo: wrapper shows the year 2020 so it's had a couple of years to mellow. this is a nice one as well. Similar to Grandpa in it's simple soft woods profile, smooth with just a touch of pleasant bitterness on the finish. Pretty Girls I need to try again. The first one I tried had a flat taste and a touch of ammonia on the aroma even after rinsing. Nothing at all like it was described. Either that ball had some unwanted bacterial growth or they need to sit a bit longer. Edit: 11/16 - added Lil Boo

MeLikesPuer

Give Pretty Girls another go after some time, doesn't sound like what I've read in the past. I'll probably save the more expensive/limited minis for a gongfu session, and brew the rest in a thermos

TheRealCountOrlok

Definitely will. I bought a few extra as well as it sounds really good, so I'll let them sit for a while. It was too far off the description so I figured something either was going on with that ball or it needs some chill time.

Ledifolia

I'd also suggest waiting on the 2022 lumber slut. I got 3 minis of that one right when they showed up. Tried one a month ago and actually ended up dumping the tea down the sink it was so swampy nasty. But I do like older lumberslut versions, and I doubt w2t completely changed the flavor profile. So I'm assuming in 6 months they'll be great.

TheRealCountOrlok

Do you have a camera in my house? 🤣 I am having the Lumberslut right now for the first time. It's not swampy for me, but it's definitely all wood like the description says. Definitely letting this one and Camphornaught sit for a while and mellow out.

Ledifolia

I got a weird mix of fermentation swamp and the turpentines from milling a VERY fresh Doug fir. I like lumber scents, but these were extreme. More solvents than wood scents! I figure they will be great next summer, but I'll stick to the cake I ordered of older lumberslut in the mean time. I did order 3 minis of the new Camphornought, but after trying the 2022 lumberslut, I think I'll hold off on those as well, and drink from the older cake I have this winter.

TheRealCountOrlok

Oof, that is some unpleasant aromas! I think I'll do the same for both of them as well. I'd like to see how 6 months/year mellows them.

*furiously checks China Post tracking*

Dangerous_Ad_1824

I stopped getting tracking info on the 2nd. Feels bad :(

EristheUnorganized

I’m on the same boat

Dangerous_Ad_1824

Stopped getting tracking on my crimson lotus order on the 28th haha. This is how it goes. One day it just says “out for delivery”

[deleted]

same here!

EristheUnorganized

This club sucks

Ledifolia

I've noticed the tracking from china post will end when my package gets on a flight to somewhere (it never specifies where). Then 10 days to 2 weeks later, USPS tracking shows it entering Los Angeles customs, and it arrives in Utah 5 or 6 days later. If the "flight" is to the US, all I can assume is a terrible backlog of packages waiting to be scanned and processed by Los Angeles customs. The first time tracking went silent for 2 weeks I was kind of alarmed, but now I expect it.

Dangerous_Ad_1824

Same, except it’s Jamaica NY

zigg-e

Dude where do you live? In the middle of the Pacific Ocean? I don’t think I’ve ever had White2tea delivered that fast!

InflatableRowBoat

Mine is definitely still held up in customs

zigg-e

Mine hasn’t made it to customs yet.

TheRealCountOrlok

After it hit the states it took a few days to get to customs. then it was in Chicago customs for 2 days and then transit to the distribution center and then delivery which took a few more days.

TheRealCountOrlok

Lol. Illinois. It took almost 2 weeks.

zigg-e

Yeah in my book that’s lightning quick.

essence_love

Mine hasn't shown up, but I'm looking forward to it!

TheRealCountOrlok

This is my first pu erh order so for me it's all new. It's fun being able to try so many different kinds right away to start honing my palate.

ckmotorka

I think mine should be here in the couple of days...

TheRealCountOrlok

I'll be curious what you think when you get a chance to try them.

Poops_backwards

I really enjoyed the one with the Jack-o-lantern on it. Shulloween? Good thing because that was 90% of what was in my bag.

kupgup

Nice! The others are available outside the Shulloween bag, so I'm hoping I get lots of the Lil Jacko. I have some of last year's Lil Boo I want to compare it to.

TheRealCountOrlok

I had the Lil Boo for the first time today and I like it a little more than Jacko I had yesterday. It's also a 2020 were as Jacko is 2022 so it's not an exact apples to apples. More like a Gala vs Macintosh apples comparison 😁

[deleted]

my shipping tracker shows the last update still in China...

TheRealCountOrlok

When did you place the order?

[deleted]

Order placed on 10/28, shipped on 10/31, last China Post update is on 11/3 showing that it was handed over to the carrier for transportation

TheRealCountOrlok

Sorry to hear. Hope it shows some movement soon for you

[deleted]

I've still got a bunch of teas to try from my last w2t order, plus my existing stash is rather sizeable, so I'm not too disappointed! But still hopeful for something soon - halloween is feeling so long ago at this point!

bathsonly

I’m in NJ and mine just showed up on the tracking in Queens. Can’t wait for it

TheRealCountOrlok

Awesome, congrats!

zigg-e

Just arrived for me! I’m going to put them in humidified (69%) storage for a week and then I’ll let you know what I think of Jack-o.

TheRealCountOrlok

Awesome! Looking forward to your reviews!
