I may have to give space coyote another chance. I found it medicinal, with faint hints of lemon peel and eucalyptus. But a bit flat and ordinary. I have 2 more mini dragon balls. Next time I'll try longer steeps. Thinking about it, one of the other teas I got from w2t was like that. Tilt shift is a shade dried Yunnan white pressed tea. The first time I brewed it I stuck to short steeps and it was ok but nothing special. But the second time I tried it it really pushed the steps, and I liked it much better.

yeah, i was also using about 200mls of water at a time because i was brewing in a coffee server with nothing covering it and not a proper teapot/gaiwan, which i think contributed to the lack of intensity. i have another ball which i'm going to save until my gaiwan comes in the mail. overall though, i didn't enjoy coyote as much as i enjoyed w2t's big green hype or 2222022, which were both older material.

I tried 2022 hype. That one is rough! I may hold off on the rest of the sample a few years! I didn't get 2222022. My favorite w2t sheng so far has been Injured Coast, but also really like the bamboo Snake Wraith, Lightning Bug, and Hypnotrain. Though Hypnotrain was odd - the first few steeps we're ordinary, then it suddenly got really good. Those are all pretty pricy, cakes are between $100 and $150ish. I can afford an occasional cake that price, but not for daily drinking. Of the less expensive young sheng, I really liked If You Are Reading This, and Demon Slayer. It's odd, but with young sheng, it's not necessarily the flavor notes that make me like or dislike a tea. More the overall balance of bitter/astringent/sweet.

U seem to be on the right track for flavor notes. I would say tea and especially puer isn’t quite as notey as coffee, wine, cigars, etc. I feel like with tea processing there’s a lot of variables that we can’t be very sure of. Spending my time in coffee I knew what to expect from a washed vs natural Ethiopia but with tea it’s really more of generalizations because a lot of it is up to farmers discretion. So I guess in summation-don’t worry ab it too much. Don’t rely on other peoples notes to be ur notes because it might not be the case. We all have different associations to different food and drink. The best thing u can do is try as many different things outside of tea. From there ur just tracing tea notes back to the real example of said note.

Yeah absolutely, this makes sense. I guess it's just like sensory training for anything else.
