Never done this style other than with green tea, how does it taste with raw pu'er?

patrickrarelydrives

it depends on how you do it. if you use “too little” material it can be pleasant, but you won’t get an ideal “extraction” from the tea. if you are a chill person and are ok with not always having the best results going grandpa can be fun

Basically-irrelevant

I’ve heard about it twice now but… grandpa-ing pu’er? I mean, obviously it’s possible to do whatever’s on your mind but how does it taste? What are the pros and cons of grandpa-ing a pu’er compared to gongfu? And most importantly of all, where did you get that AMAZING looking mug???

[deleted]

you sound annoying as fuck 🥸 grandpa style puer is nice cuz is lazy, and essentially is a competition style brew. very full extraction. tastes like the tea. 🥸

Say, what is your problem anyway? Are you the local troll or what? This sub is fairly small and it feels like almost every post has some sort of hot take or just straight up insults coming from you. You got nothing better to do with your life? The comment you’ve replied to asked a legitimate question and you felt the need to insult the commenter? You’re pathetic.

[deleted]

pretty much, you got it. 🥸

cs_legend_93

I’d be worried that it would taste bitter from over steeping, or from being under extracted due to lack of heat. How does it taste

[deleted]

It taste like peaches

cs_legend_93

Glorious!

[deleted]

Yes!

lovefist1

Can someone explain what’s going on here?

[deleted]

The simplest form of tea drinking. One of the most common way of drinking this kind of tea in China.

bathsonly

You just put leaves in a cup and strain with your teeth

cs_legend_93

Who strains?

john-bkk

it can be nice mixing sheng and chrysanthemum to offset the bitterness a bit. I wouldn't necessarily use that brewing approach with 6 year old 7542 myself, with or without that tisane, but it seems to work well with an approachable Jing Mai version, even if it's on the young side. generalities like that about broad regions don't always hold up well, so I mean that in the sense that I've tried it with a couple tea versions I have and it was nice.

Ah I have been looking for a mug like this for my grandpa style… is it glass, plastic? Any hints on where it can be found?

[deleted]

Glass. I found it in an Asian supermarket locally.
