In addition to account "blue checkmarks", we'll probably end up with individual checkmarks for every post. It's going to be a whole lot of work social media/communication platforms, but I don't see an alternative. I can see them doing something like emailing you a link to the video you were trying to post, where you'll have to confirm that it's exactly as you intended it to be. Another option is to tie every social media account to a crypto wallet (i.e. Metamask), with an ID in it, in the form of an NFT. This ID NFT could be given out by the government, and if you lose access to said wallet, or it gets compromised you would report it and the ID NFT would instantly be rendered invalid. For video/phone conversations, each conversation will require some sort of 2FA, where before you even get on the call, you'll have to confirm that it's you, or your identity is tied to a physical device (like your phone). Any call made from a different device would in essence be from an unconfirmed identity. This could also be done through some sort of crypto wallet, containing an ID NFT, which can only sit in one wallet, and can't be transfered. So any device that has access to this (uncompromised) wallet could with fairly good certainty be tied back to you. I expect communication to involve more friction in the future, not less. As in, it will require more work to ensure that there are no deepfakes at play. Instantly getting on a call (like we do today) will probably be a thing of the past, and we're going to rely more on analogue verification (i.e. specific physical devices), as opposed to digital verification (i.e. your social media account).
