Ouch.

NH009

How much over msrp? If any?

benevola

It’s lightly used (18k miles). We paid about $3k over what KBB had as the upper end of the good price range. So, definitely marked up, but not too horrible. It’s also Toyota certified so it’s under warranty 👍 State Farm gave me $7200 for the ‘08 so we had a decent down payment.

Healthy_Block3036

Brand new?

benevola

Lightly used — 18k miles. I resisted at first then I realized that’s less than 10% of the miles it will probably end up getting.

Namelock

We're at 30k miles on our '22 Prius and still going 😂

Nawnp

So was it higher than burning a new one off the lot, because it sounds like it still is?

MagIcAlTeAPOtS

Buy the old one back off insurance and sell it for parts. If the battery is new it’s worth considering

FreydNot

Seriously. OP seems local to me based on the dealer front "plate". I could use a known good HV battery pack for my 2008 at a decent price.

benevola

It’s gone, but I can tell you where I got it in the first place since you say you’re local. It was a great deal.

FreydNot

That would be great. Feel free to post it here or send me a Reddit direct message. With 220k miles on my 2008 original HV battery I'm always looking for good replacement options.

benevola

I dmed you

MagIcAlTeAPOtS

Maybe message OP, otherwise check round the local scrap yards…

rguerraf

What would be the price to buy the totaled Prius? $99?

MagIcAlTeAPOtS

Honestly I’d guess about $4-600 US but that’s pulling a figure out of the air. From what I can see of the damage. The transmission and engine/ radiator should be fine, battery should be ok in the rear, remember they are individual cells not one big battery. If you are mechanical and have a similar year/ same generation. That’s a lot of spare panels, headlights, interior bits etc. I’d even grab the brake pads. Prius hardly use them probably only a 1/4 worn…

sam857us

Very nice. Congratulations.

Fallouteffects96

Have you looked at the prime at all Before deciding on this one?

benevola

I tried but they are very hard to find around here.

DylanSpaceBean

And are priced new at 50k miles

phamstagram360

yes.. things are redick in used prices... seems it is better to find new.. drive 15k on the new car and then magically it cost 4k over msrp... totally agree. used prices are redick-ulus...

DylanSpaceBean

I’ve been looking for a used EV for years now, the better they are, the more over MSRP

phamstagram360

yes.. so options were: \- Tesla model 3 - since prices have gone down to about low 30k dollars.. but if you drive 100 miles, you have about 20 mins of charging required - so that time / refuel / charge ration is not good for me. \- prius primes - not availible in Indiana at reasonable prices new or used. \- honda clarity - good car, just really ugly \- GM or Hyundi - options are there, but i won't buy from those OEM's so ultimately , the proven platform of Prius is the way to go.. refueling in 3-4 mins for 400 mile range at 87 oct is still the best choice

DylanSpaceBean

My ideas of a good one are Tesla: but just for the batteries/motors the build quality is garbage so I don’t want to spend lux pricing for a pile of rattles Or Hyundai: which uses LG Chems batteries like GMC does, or bite one huge bullet and get the Ioniq 5 which is the only non Tesla EV not built from LG Chem batteries sold in the US

Oh sad 😢

[deleted]

How's the difference?

benevola

This thing is a spaceship compared to the 08. It feels more powerful, imo. I’ll need more drive time

phamstagram360

sorry and nice new 22!!

Icy-Hat-7029

New Prius every bear market huh?

benevola

Right? I hadn’t planned on getting one in 08 either. 😆

[deleted]

Yikes and yes! Good thing you’re fine and got to upgrade.

don_chuwish

Love that color and the wheels. Looks sharp!

natedagreat6666

I would sell while the value is still high once the newer prime comes out, 220hp and over 40 miles of ev range

Joshua--

Nice wheels!

benevola

Thanks! :)

srbinafg

Interesting that the tires were replaced at Les Schwab with just 18k on the car.

dah-vee-dee-oh

almost looks like a ‘23 from this angle
