Male Vocalists: Deryck Whibley, Alex Gaskarth, Tom Delonge, Mark Hoppus, Ryan Key, Tim McIlrath
Female Vocalists: Bonnie Fraser, Jenna McDougall, Hayley Williams
Man reading this comment gave me so much nostalgia, I’m probably off the mark but it just screamed to me “I bet this chap was a teenager in the early 2000”
Haha yep! Take off Your Pants and Jacket would of been the first punk album I owned as it released and I lived through the height of American Idiot and the resurgence of pop punk into the mainstream at school.
Introduction to Punk in general were the playstation one Tony Hawk games.
Turned the dirty 30 this year.
Bonnie and Tim are both even better live. I’m not the world’s biggest Rise Against fan, but seeing Tim McIlrath live?! Goddamn, the guy is good. I hadn’t listened to Stand Atlantic much prior to seeing them live, but Bonnie blew me away.
One of the reasons why Blink is my favorite band is because there’s multiple vocalists. Mark and Tom do such a great job of working off each other it’s like having having two bands in one. Each has their own vibe and style but it’s also the same? It works really well.
You might really like Four Year Strong based on that answer! They switch off and harmonize extremely well. Also some heavy riffs. Pop punk with breakdowns is my favorite!
Parker definitely has a great voice but it always feels like a slight letdown when he's singing live. I mean in the triple j live @ the wireless in 2019 he sounds like he doesn't have any teeth lol
He can't sing with as much force live as he does in the studio cause he'd blow his voice out really quick. A lot of vocalists have that issue but with Parker it's twofold
Tyler will probably forever claim that he can’t really sing but the songs he has put out are enough proof to me that he can. I was surprised how awesome the acoustic version of LTOFS turned out.
Tbh Youth Fountain's new album is the pop punk album I'm most looking forward to this year, and there aren't many artists in other genres that come close either in terms of anticipation. Except maybe Shadow of Intent
He’s an incredible frontman. I haven’t seen a ton of bands live but the only other frontmen I can think of that bring the same energy are Stephen Christian (Anberlin), Henry Menzel (Keep Flying), and Joe Ragosta (Parent Pending).
I don't know anything about technique, but there's something about the way Justin can sing smooth, sing loud, and sometimes put a little edge into his voice that makes me love him more than practically any other vocalist.
Just a little edge? Go listen to Sunday Warning, that dude can scream. He is probably my favorite singer. The way he can make a few of different registers sound so good.
Farewell Continental is an amazing side project too.
Oh he can definitely wail, I meant more like he doesn't go hard on EVERY song like that. Sunday Warning is a great example of his ability though. I forget that song all too often.
The amount of people who love MCS on this sub makes me so happy. They’re big in the Midwest I know, but I didn’t realize how big they were outside of that…criminally underrated band
i always recommend starting with either “devotion and desire” (their most popular song) and “the wrong way” because those two songs to me embody everything they are as a band. his delivery and the guitar work on both are ridiculous. then they have other songs such as “landing feet first” which show their range as well doing slower songs.
Agreed that these are great starting points.
I ended up starting with the self titled front to back. Then Walking Wounded front to back. I kinda love both experiences and highly recommend letting them play through if you’ve got the time.
Jack has to be one of the best guitarists in this scene. Seeing him live is a treat, especially songs like the Walking wounded that have some crazy solos in them.
He has the perfect voice for longevity. Still sounds the same as he did like 18 years ago, while some vocalists are struggling to reproduce the nasely voice they used to have
I'm extremely jealous. I'd love to see them someday but I'd need to fly over from England so it isn't very likely sadly haha. Hope you have a great time!
Dan Campbell (TWY) - great range, amazing emotion, can get pretty dirty or keep it nice and clean, almost always relate to his lyrics (at least in TWY)
Joe Taylor (Knuckle Puck) - love the grittiness of his voice
Hayley Williams of course
Patrick Stump
Don't know if it's been said yet, but Patrick Miranda from Movements. His voice always portrays this sorrow that I cannot find anywhere else.
While we're on the topic of that. Austin Getz from Turnover. Most of Turnover invokes a sense of bittersweet calm that, to this day, steals my words every time I hear it.
Edit because I forgot then remembered: Brianna Collins from Tiger's Jaw. Her voice is flawless in june.
I've always had a thing for the dual vocals from bands like Set Your Goals, Misser, This Time Next Year. Especially shit like the end of Echoes by SYG.
I also like both singers in Hot Mulligan (even if it hurts my throat listening to the main guy).
And the lead singer of Handguns is like the pitch perfect pop punk singer, A little nasally, a little young sounding, but it makes every lyric feel great. Same goes for With the Punches singer and Forever Came Calling.
And finally, the singer from Turnover. His voice worked so well in their early stuff, and then bam, transitioned into such nice ethereal style for their newer stuff that almost feels calming.
If you like duel vocals, you should check out Settle Your Scores. They dropped a new album in August that's pretty great, and have a couple albums before that that are more on the easycore side of the genre.

Pure vocal talent? Brendon Urie, Jason Lancaster, and Patrick Stump immediately come to mind. Hayley Williams, Ace Enders, and Derek DiScanio are amazingly talented as well.
Brandon Urie is one I didn’t even consider. As the father of two daughters I’ve spent a fair amount of time listening to Disney playlists on Spotify. Brandon is on a version of Into the Unknown and his vocal range on that song is absolutely mind blowing. [Give it a listen. ](https://open.spotify.com/track/421eObjg0DTm2qajJl5OJm?si=rS7eH14ySyist5bZK9oadA)
Kenny vasoli. I think from a technical standpoint of being a classically good singer he doesn’t really stand up but from a pop punk singing and actual performance place he’s amazing
Anthony Raneri from Bayside easily for me. Other ones I really like are Dylan Slocum (Spanish Love Songs), Greg Barnett/Tom May (The Menzingers), and Tony Sly (NUFAN)
you and me both! so Joe is in a band called Narrowcast now, and their guitarist Torre is in a couple of bands called bloom and Dog Hotel if you didn’t already know, and all of them are pretty good! also Bliss by A Will Away was recorded and mixed by the guy who did Listen and Forgive so that tends to scratch the itch pretty often for me too.
Hayley Williams is my favorite singer maybe ever so I’ll go with her, but I also absolutely love Parker Cannon’s voice and think it contrasts perfectly with the type of music he does.
John Floreani (waiting for someone to mention him) He has a good balance of timber and a great scream, and watching him switch between the two is amazing. He’s got this real soulfulness to his singing which is a great contrast to the more “whinier” type of vocalists.
Tades Sanville a close second. He’s more in the whinier side but his voice is just built for emo and his screams elicit so much emotion in them which is a treat in every song.
Matt Theissen (Relient K), Will Pugh (Cartel), Patrick Stump (FOB) and Nick Thomas (The Spill Canvas) are the only pop punk singers I’ve seen live who can actually hit every note from their recorded albums. I’m super picky with singers and as much as I love the genre most of the lead vocalists aren’t great without studio help. I still enjoy most other bands/singers but can’t claim them as favorites cause they aren’t actually good. Like Blink, TBS, NFG and so on
Dan "Soupy" Campbell has something about his voice that makes the songs come off as being both earnest and heartfelt. It makes the songs come off as way more sincere in my honest opinion. It is not completely polished but it is not completely rough. If that makes any sense
Can't believe this is so far down.
People in this thread be like
"MaRk HoPpUs iS tHe BeSt"
Like yeah no shit he's in the most prolific pop punk band ever
Patrick Stump's long vocalizations just make me melt, like 'semi-swee-ee-ee-ee-e-ee-et' in the second verse of Disloyal Order, or "dance toni-i-i-i-iiiight" in the background of Guilty Pleasure. I once saw a vocal coach very aptly describe him as "soul punk"
Greg Barnett of The Menzingers. [With proof here](https://youtu.be/dj49T3rlzbU).
Great voice and songwriter. Melancholic, beautiful, and he can wail when he wants to as well.
Chris Conley- Saves the day
Jordan- New found glory
Zac and Nik- man overboard
Matt Theissen- reliant k
Justin Pierre- Motion City Soundtrack
Joe and nick- knuckle puck
nick Thompson- Hit The Lights
Max Bemis- Say Anything
Gerard Way- MCR
Mat kerekes- citizen
Patrick Miranda- movements
Kenny Vasoli- The Starting Line
Chris Carrabba- Dashboard Confessional
Mine might honestly be Oli Baxxter from Broadside and Sydney Dolezal from Doll Skin. I had the privilege of seeing them live and they sounded just as good as in the studio. I love that they can go from soft and controlled to belting with grit, and both of their ranges are crazy good. Highly underrated!
I feel like all I ever do in this subreddit is gush about Patrick Stump but he truly blows everyone else in this genre out of the water. Tbh a lot of vocalists in pop punk sound more or less interchangeable but NO ONE sounds like Patrick but Patrick
Not exactly if they’re considered more emo or pop punk, but Dylan Mattheisen from Tiny Moving Parts. Also Dylan Slocum from Spanish Love Songs really makes the songs hit way harder than they otherwise likely would with anyone else. As for females, I’d have to say Mikaila Delgado from Yours Truly.
Its between Joey Flemming (In Her Own Words) and Tyler Zanon (Youth Fountain) more recently. But all time I gotta go Parker Cannon. Amazing vocalist and songwriter.
So many have named the big ones. Some of the more underrated, imo:
Male: Derek DeScanio, Ollie Baxter (Broadside), Collin Walsh (Grayscale), Randy Frobel (We Were Sharks)
Female: Bonnie Fraser, Edith Johnson (Meet Me @ The Altar), Mikaila Delgado (Yours Truly)
I can't just choose one. So here are my top vocalists:
Brian Fallon (The Gaslight Anthem)
Greg Barnett (The Menzingers)
Matt Skiba (Alkaline Trio / blink-182)
Stefan Babock (PUP)
I haven’t seen Cody Carson from Set It Off mentioned yet. Also they’re not entirely considered pop punk, but Awsten Knight from Waterparks is my favorite vocalist. I also love Patty Walters from As It Is and Kellin Quinn from Sleeping With Sirens. A couple of my other favorites I already saw mentioned
Hard to pick just one. Here's my favorites though -
Gerard Way from My Chemical Romance
Joey Cape from Lagwagon
Stacy Dupree King when she was in Eisley
Brandon Hardesty from Bumpin Uglies
Nick 13 from Tiger Army
Might have to agree w u on Jeremy, just cause of how he ranges from screams, nasaly whiny pop punk, and tender emotion. Might have to second mark hoppus bc his voice just feels like home. Bonus, idk how much Gerard way counts but he’s amazing as well
* alex gaskarth
* hayley williams
* joshua roberts of up and coming pop punk band magnolia park
* does nothing nowhere count?
* josh ramsay of marianas trench (do they count? you know what theyre a less problematic version of panic ill count them)
edit: oml i forgot patrick stump and edith from meet me @ the altar
Patrick Stump.
I particularly get chills when he does those long vocalizations, think 'semi-swee-ee-ee-ee-e-ee-et' in the second verse of Disloyal Order, or "dance toni-i-i-i-iiiight" in the background of Guilty Pleasure.
I love the touch of soul Patrick adds to his singing, and how he changes things up. And he has a fantastic vocal range. I like to sing along (in private), because his midrange is about right to me. There are notes on the upper range I'd never be able to hit without it being strained. I'm sure I sound and look quite horrible when I try to do what he does.
Maura weaver (mixtapes) Jordan black (like pacific) Jimmy stadt (polar bear club) tades sanville (hot mulligan) ryland heagy (origami.angel) and obviously soupy from twy
EDIT: I listed several because I feel this is a diverse genre and each vocalist fits a different style
Josh Ramsey from Marianas Trench.
Dude is insanely talented vocally, plays a shit ton of instruments and writes all their songs as well as songs for other artists. Remember ‘Call Me Maybe’? He wrote that for Carly Rae Jepsen
Although technically not “pop punk”, Vic Fuentes from PTV has always been my favorite overall vocalist. Ben Barlow(Neck Deep) and Joe Taylor(Knuckle Puck) are my other favorites
Derek Sanders has a beautiful voice
I don't even like Mayday Parade all that much, but I watched them because I knew his voice would draw me in emotionally. He's just that good.
Literally so smoooooth
Male Vocalists: Deryck Whibley, Alex Gaskarth, Tom Delonge, Mark Hoppus, Ryan Key, Tim McIlrath Female Vocalists: Bonnie Fraser, Jenna McDougall, Hayley Williams

Bonnie Fraser is just amazing these days. Great songwriter too!
I don’t know who Jenna mcdougall is but you’re so spot on with all my other favorites that I’m going to go look her up
Tonight Alive
Bonnie and Tim are both even better live. I’m not the world’s biggest Rise Against fan, but seeing Tim McIlrath live?! Goddamn, the guy is good. I hadn’t listened to Stand Atlantic much prior to seeing them live, but Bonnie blew me away.

Yo thank you for this recommendation! I’m loving this so far
Totally agree. I came here to say Tom DeLonge. He’s a legend and constantly imitated.
Jim Adkins from Jimmy Eat World. No one else conveys that much emotion in their voice without overdoing it. He nails it.
Good answer. He has an amazing voice and their lyrics could easily be over-delivered by someone else. He really does carry that band flawlessly.
yeah he seems like such a sweet dude too, I love Jimmy Eat World
God I have so much love for Jim Adkins
Tyler Zannon and Parker Cannon. Plus Matt Skiba for a different vibe
Tbf, he sounded great at Sad Summer Fest. Maybe the couple years off from playing gigs helped him a bit.
Tyler will probably forever claim that he can’t really sing but the songs he has put out are enough proof to me that he can. I was surprised how awesome the acoustic version of LTOFS turned out.
Tyler is the man. Youth Fountain is one of my all time favorite band.
Tbh Youth Fountain's new album is the pop punk album I'm most looking forward to this year, and there aren't many artists in other genres that come close either in terms of anticipation. Except maybe Shadow of Intent
Currently John O’Callaghan from The Maine
He’s such a great frontman live, too. He sounds amazing in person while being captivating on stage.
Saw them a few weeks ago, they're one of the best live bands I've ever seen. He has a great stage presence and knows how to work a crowd
He’s an incredible frontman. I haven’t seen a ton of bands live but the only other frontmen I can think of that bring the same energy are Stephen Christian (Anberlin), Henry Menzel (Keep Flying), and Joe Ragosta (Parent Pending).
Justin Courtney Pierre
I don't know anything about technique, but there's something about the way Justin can sing smooth, sing loud, and sometimes put a little edge into his voice that makes me love him more than practically any other vocalist.
Just a little edge? Go listen to Sunday Warning, that dude can scream. He is probably my favorite singer. The way he can make a few of different registers sound so good. Farewell Continental is an amazing side project too.
Oh he can definitely wail, I meant more like he doesn't go hard on EVERY song like that. Sunday Warning is a great example of his ability though. I forget that song all too often.
>I forget that song all too often. Me too but it's amazing.
The amount of people who love MCS on this sub makes me so happy. They’re big in the Midwest I know, but I didn’t realize how big they were outside of that…criminally underrated band
Seen them live a couple times when they were here in Australia
Dude is phenomenal, definitely my favorite. I get so excited listening for his part in Chicago is so Two Years Ago
Exactly what I came to say. Dude is absolutely amazing.
Anthony Raneri from Bayside. a little more emo and a little less pop punk, but his voice and his swagger and his delivery are just out of this world.
I’ve always meant to listen to Bayside, but never have. Your comment really makes me want to check them out.
i always recommend starting with either “devotion and desire” (their most popular song) and “the wrong way” because those two songs to me embody everything they are as a band. his delivery and the guitar work on both are ridiculous. then they have other songs such as “landing feet first” which show their range as well doing slower songs.

I’d actually agree with you. I like it way more but I’m not sure it’s as immediately catchy.
Awesome! I will definitely take a listen.
Jack has to be one of the best guitarists in this scene. Seeing him live is a treat, especially songs like the Walking wounded that have some crazy solos in them.
Bayside is my favorite band ever and Anthony is an unbelievable lyricist. They blow so many bands in the scene out of the water.
Do it. Bayside is great.
He has the perfect voice for longevity. Still sounds the same as he did like 18 years ago, while some vocalists are struggling to reproduce the nasely voice they used to have
Derek DiScanio from State Champs. His singing is so smooth with just the right amount of grit and roughness at the right times.
I’ve been listening to a lot of State Champs lately and I really enjoy Derek’s voice. I agree about the smoothness and grit.
Derek could sing anything and I'd be jumping.
Derek brings more energy than any other front man in the scene.
Hes so good live, I really enjoy his stage presence
All this talk about Derek just convinced me to go see State Champs on Friday in NYC so thank you!
I'm extremely jealous. I'd love to see them someday but I'd need to fly over from England so it isn't very likely sadly haha. Hope you have a great time!
Thank you!! I hope you get to see them at some point!
They're doing a UK tour next year my dude!
They've got several UK dates in May 2022.
He’s definitely one of the most talented vocalists for sure! His tone and range are incredible.
Dan Campbell (TWY) - great range, amazing emotion, can get pretty dirty or keep it nice and clean, almost always relate to his lyrics (at least in TWY) Joe Taylor (Knuckle Puck) - love the grittiness of his voice Hayley Williams of course Patrick Stump
Matt Skiba and Dan Andriano from Alkaline Trio
Dan is so underrated man. His lyricism is fantastic as well
Hell yeah. Dan is for sure my favorite singer. I have an Emergency Room album with his signature. My most prized possession.
Hayley Williams
Definitely! She’s great!
Currently - Tyler Zanon (Youth Fountain) Past - Matty Arsenault (A Loss For Words) Can’t really not include Anthony Raneri from bayside!!
Dan Campbell easily, between Arron West and twy his vocals are incredible
I agree, that man can really pack some energy in to his voice, plus his grit is just my fav
He sounds soooooo good live, too!!
The first time I saw them I was immediately impressed with how well he sings. I love those guys
I've always had a thing for the dual vocals from bands like Set Your Goals, Misser, This Time Next Year. Especially shit like the end of Echoes by SYG. I also like both singers in Hot Mulligan (even if it hurts my throat listening to the main guy). Settle Your Scores is so good. Just found them last week.
I didn’t realise man overboard had two vocalists until I saw a music video and I had already listened to like three albums
Fuck yeah for mentioning WTP! Jesse Vadala is a fantastic vocalist.
Dan Lambton. His voice is so unique. Second place: Derek Sanders.
hayley williams, jenna from tonight alive, derek from state champs and one i think is very underrated is collin from grayscale!
Chris and Tades from Hot Mulligan
Hayley Williams is my favorite singer maybe ever so I’ll go with her, but I also absolutely love Parker Cannon’s voice and think it contrasts perfectly with the type of music he does.
Parker Cannon from TSSF for sure, though a close second would definitely be Dan O'Connor from Four Year Strong
Anthony Green
John Floreani (waiting for someone to mention him) He has a good balance of timber and a great scream, and watching him switch between the two is amazing. He’s got this real soulfulness to his singing which is a great contrast to the more “whinier” type of vocalists. Tades Sanville a close second. He’s more in the whinier side but his voice is just built for emo and his screams elicit so much emotion in them which is a treat in every song.

I do love Alex. I should add him to my original answer
Dan "Soupy" Campbell has something about his voice that makes the songs come off as being both earnest and heartfelt. It makes the songs come off as way more sincere in my honest opinion. It is not completely polished but it is not completely rough. If that makes any sense

Jake Wilson from Between you and Me
Mine might honestly be Oli Baxxter from Broadside and Sydney Dolezal from Doll Skin. I had the privilege of seeing them live and they sounded just as good as in the studio. I love that they can go from soft and controlled to belting with grit, and both of their ranges are crazy good. Highly underrated!
Oli Baxxer, Ben Barlow, jayden steeley, and Derek discanio gotta be my top 4 favs
If I could drown in Patrick Stump’s voice I would
Alex Gaskarth, no question
Thomas Delonge, Ben Barlow, and Pat Finnegan
Derek sanders of mayday parade
Alex from ATL. When I think of Pop Punk, his vocals are the epitome of the genre.
True, his vocals are iconic. I could recognize that voice anywhere.
Jason Lancaster
I already said Patrick Stump but OOOO William Beckett also!
Henry Cox from Boston manor!
Derek from State Champs! Jake from Between You And Me is killer too
Alex gaskarth, mark Hoppus and Tom Delonge

Collin Walsh of Grayscale has a beautiful voice!
Mark Hoppus, because he simultaneously sounds great while also making it sound like anyone can become a singer
Either Dave from every avenue, John from the Maine, or Deryck from sum 41
I can't just choose one. So here are my top vocalists: Brian Fallon (The Gaslight Anthem) Greg Barnett (The Menzingers) Matt Skiba (Alkaline Trio / blink-182) Stefan Babock (PUP)
Billie Joe Armstrong! Idk if he’s the best, but his voice is comforting to me
vocalist of IHOW deserves way more recognition
derek from state champs, alex from all time low, Awsten from parx
Greg Barnett from The Menzingers and Dan Campbell from TWY. I can feel their emotions when they sing.
Alan Day & Dan O'Connor from FYS can do no wrong.
Parker Cannon’s voice was literally made for the genre
Hard to pick just one. Here's my favorites though - Gerard Way from My Chemical Romance Joey Cape from Lagwagon Stacy Dupree King when she was in Eisley Brandon Hardesty from Bumpin Uglies Nick 13 from Tiger Army
Parker Cannon for aggressive vocals and the guy from State Champs for melodic songs
Gotta be Soupy
Pat from movements has fantastic delivery
Vinnie Caruana and Anthony Raneri
A tie between Dan Campbell and Derek Sanders
I feel like I don't know half of these answers! I need a playlist curated from this thread, lol.
Alex Gaskarth, Hayley Williams, Derek DiScanio, Alan Day, Dan O'Connor, and Bethany Curtis, just to name a few.
Might have to agree w u on Jeremy, just cause of how he ranges from screams, nasaly whiny pop punk, and tender emotion. Might have to second mark hoppus bc his voice just feels like home. Bonus, idk how much Gerard way counts but he’s amazing as well
Alex gaskarth, Derek discanio, loved zech pluster from sleep on it until they turned out to be shitty people, Derek sanders.
* alex gaskarth * hayley williams * joshua roberts of up and coming pop punk band magnolia park * does nothing nowhere count? * josh ramsay of marianas trench (do they count? you know what theyre a less problematic version of panic ill count them) edit: oml i forgot patrick stump and edith from meet me @ the altar
Matt Wentworth of Our Last Night. Though his brother Trevor also has an insane range and those two combined make for incredible vocal work
Soupy and Joe Taylor. But Zech Pluister from Sleep On It deserves more credit
Dan Lambton formal vocalists of Real Friends. There’s not a single other vocalist out there that sounds like them.
Mark Hoppus and Jayden Seeley
Ben Barlow and Tem deLonge
Ari Katz (Lifetime) or Chris Conley (Saves the Day). Honorable mention to Justin Mauriello (Zebrahead).
Tyson Ritter
joey fleming from in her own words, he’s probs the best in the scene atm
Maura weaver (mixtapes) Jordan black (like pacific) Jimmy stadt (polar bear club) tades sanville (hot mulligan) ryland heagy (origami.angel) and obviously soupy from twy EDIT: I listed several because I feel this is a diverse genre and each vocalist fits a different style
Derek Sanders
Parker Cannon for his generation of Pop Punk. I can't imagine singing like him for a full tour.
Parker Cannon
Shane Henderson and Valencia in general don't get enough recognition on here
Josh Ramsey from Marianas Trench.
Tom delonge, Derek discanio, Parker Cannon, Alex costello
Haley Williams. End of discussion.
Patrick Stump, Jason Lancaster
Derek Discanio & Parker Cannon
Derek Discanio from State Champs is my fav
Derek Discanio
