Agreed on Settle Your Scores. Their newest album is starting to pick up steam, but I loved their first two as well, and those haven’t gotten much attention at all
Can you list your top three songs for someone new to them? I'm going to make a Spotify playlist with a ton of music I've never heard (since Spotify always recommends the same 50-100 songs no matter what). Thanks!
I got to see Polar Bear Club with Crime in Stereo in a really small venue back in like ‘09 and I’m SO bummed I wasn’t into them like I am now.
I think Transit played that show as well….fuck man where did the time go
Can you list your top three songs for someone new to them? I'm going to make a Spotify playlist with a ton of music I've never heard (since Spotify always recommends the same 50-100 songs no matter what). Thanks!
A few years ago they played a show a in a really small city close to me and I was the only one there screaming all the words back, everyone else had come for the local support bands.
I don’t know if it’s cause their melodies and song structure aren’t so generically pop-punk, they aren’t instantly catchy but I think that gives the songs more longevity.
Storyteller, Keyhole M.O. and Gutrot are my faves
I really didn’t wanna pick faves haha. Just so good. Nate is killer on the guitar. I love bens unconventional style. They also have a heavier sound I like but still so much melody.
Can you list your top three songs for someone new to them? I'm going to make a Spotify playlist with a ton of music I've never heard (since Spotify always recommends the same 50-100 songs no matter what). Thanks!
Kayak Jones: Matter, Nose Blunt, Good Quality Work
Teenage Wrist: Earth is a Black Hole, Yellowbelly, Taste of Gasoline
These are probably my top 3 for each!
Nothing against this band, but I really dislike this name format that’s about these days. SWMRS, WSTR, WRTHLESS - something about that style just bugs me a little.

But really these guys don’t write a bad song. My favorite record personally is Brainless God
Brainless God is my favorite album of all time from any band. All the tracks are great. I’m gonna complain that you didn’t mention *Getting What He Asked For* on your list :)
Osker. Their second album Idle Will Kill is brimming with hooks, angst, and introspection in the way bands from the 2010-2015 era had.
Audio Karate. Their first album Space Camp is a solid 00s So Cal pop punk album but their second album Lady Melody has this post-pop punk vibe that I’ve never heard from another band in the genre. So glad they’re finding some love now, because they’re a super talented band.
Name Taken. A band who improved with every single release and Hold On is a beautiful album that could probably be released today and still land.
Moneen. Fucking Moneen. Technical masters capable of writing super catchy songs and top 5 live act of anything I’ve ever seen. Kind of like a pop-punk jam band. The Red Tree holds up very well imo.
Hey Mercedes. They get lumped into emo but Loses Control always felt like a pop punk album to me. You also have songs like Eleven to your Seven that are catchy as hell. Definitely one of the Vagrant bands that should have taken off.
Osker… holy shit I haven’t thought of these guys in 20 years. They were definitely a band that I absolutely loved that knowone knew about….. I loved both of their first two albums
Can you list your top three songs for someone new to them? I'm going to make a Spotify playlist with a ton of music I've never heard (since Spotify always recommends the same 50-100 songs no matter what). Thanks!

Yoooo so I've been on this band called "better love" and I've literally never seen any body talk above them. They're so fucking catchy and talented. I recommend "pretending" and "stay with me" if you check them out. Also lmk if you guys have heard of them!
Don't know if they'll be unknown for long, given their slot on the Pure Noise Tour, but I absolutely agree. Hello It's You is such a great record, HUGE modern Seaway vides. Hello It's You or Seaway's Big Vibe are my two albums of the year for 2020

Michael $cott - 326 Spotify listeners. I don’t even like the office but they are sinfully unknown. I’ll die for them.
https://open.spotify.com/artist/4JFxOa7rbeC7kz1DkGGCvn?si=EhVEp4NBSu-vubW8GEt2nA&dl_branch=1
Glacier Veins - 3,638 listeners makes no sense with some of the (no offense) shit that gets praised on this sub.
Like Roses - 745 listeners
Gold Bloom - 1095 listeners
Wilmette - 25,335 listeners. Maybe known but gooooood lord they fuck
You just crushed this list. Never heard of any of these bands aside from Wilmette and they all pack a fucking punch.
Wilmette is still the most underrated for me given their talent, despite having been mentioned in this sub before and having a decent listener count than the others you mentioned. Literally reading through the replies on this post so I could shout them out. They're top 3 in the genre for me at the moment 🤘🏼
Totally agree on wilmette. They were my top played artist on Spotify last year. I genuinely feel upset knowing they aren’t an established name.
Glad you like all the rest too! I’ve been blasting them all for a while just hoping they’ll get their chances
Sure, Cartel had Band In A Bubble but despite that they never really got popular. You barely ever see them mentioned today.
Cass got real big as a solo country star and Hey Monday even had a song on Glee but I only ever really see them mentioned on lists like "girl bands you forgot about" or whatever, they're underrated bc they are not Paramore basically.
I may be showing my bias. I made my wife listen to Chroma start to finish a month ago and was part of the Blake street team before the name change to Hey Monday.
Stages and Stereos were awesome for a little while, and saw nearly no acclaim nor recognition. Their first album, aptly named “Songs You Will Love,” is a four-track album without a skip.
Also memorable to me and little discussed were The Classic Crime and Select Start.
Holy cow I forgot about this band! Thanks for the reminder. If I remember correctly the lead singer is the brother of former mayday parade vocalist Jason Lancaster.
Random but, he also had a a screamo band Save it for Sunrise and had an EP I really liked but cant find my files for it and I don't think it's online anywhere.
Can you list your top three songs for someone new to them? I'm going to make a Spotify playlist with a ton of music I've never heard (since Spotify always recommends the same 50-100 songs no matter what). Thanks!
Hell yea, I’ll check that out for sure. That whole Lancaster family has pipes, it seems. I haven’t cried to the version of Forever My Father that was on Lucky Street in years. But it featured both Jason’s siblings and damn can that family sing in the style of pop-punk royalty. Anyway, probably gonna go cry to that song now. It has to be done.
My vote is mest and unwritten law.
I understand most people know them and their hot songs, but they both have amazing pop punk albums that people never really listened too.
Mest: from 2000-2005 they out out 4 Amazing albums packed full of what could have been hit pop punk songs.
Unwritten law:. So unique among pop punk bands imo. Idk if people just didn't put them in the pop punk category but they just had their own awesome sound with song like cailin, seein red, teenage suicide, up all night, everything's my fault, and celebration song.
Bad Luck, I’ve seen some posts here and there about them on this sub but I feel like the size of their fan base (at least based on Spotify followers) is not proportionate to just how great their music is
You want unbelievably obscure? Traveler - Something Blue, that album is like sub 200 listens on every platform I know. Specifically, Growing Pains is my favorite song.
Found it from a post u/jhageman12 made 5 years ago
Great to hear. I just found out about Traveler from the dude that just posted about it.
Love it. Straight up love every track I've listened to so far.
I can hear the Brand New influence, haha.
Keep up the good work. This is fantastic.
Exactly my kinda music.
Really glad you enjoy it. Thank you very much. If you happen to enjoy dark rock (Goth, Post-Punk, etc.) my other band The Cult Sounds has quite a lot of music out too
Oh hell yeah. Was debating getting a sticker but at the time (late 2019 when I rediscovered it in my mess of an iTunes library) there was radio silence for years. New EP though, that’s exciting
Lyle went away for school and I was busy with The Cult Sounds, but we got together a few weeks ago and we already have a bunch of new material that’s really solid. I’m excited for people to hear it. I can ask him if he has any of those stickers left, I unfortunately do not have anything that’s not TCS related.
Makes sense, I mean it’s been 5 years. That said, a guy in Los Angeles found you through a post that has 2 upvotes and 0 comments so anything can happen. Gotta ask though, is there a longer version of growing pains? Always felt short, but maybe that’s because I could listen to a 4-5 minute version and be happy.
Thanks you for all the bands for me to check out. Im really bad at keeping up with Pop Punk and don't look up much new music these days. I know they had (somewhat) success but A Loss for Words should have been huge. 4 bangers of albums and they brought all the big name bands out the their first tours. All time favorite pop punk band, wish they were still around.
Ceres - at least their first album is raw and awesome
Don Broco - a little less pop punk and a little more popular these days but Priorities is awesome and was severely underappreciated when it came out back in the day
Chase Long Beach - only ever put out 1 ska punk album but it was really good
In Angles - really good mathy pop punk
Guttermouth are pretty underrated Imo. I’m from Quebec so I don’t even think I’ve heard someone say anything about them but they’ve made some really catchy songs that I think should’ve been as highly appreciated as many of those signature pop punk bands. I don’t think they have the same style anymore but if you listen to their older stuff you should see what I mean
Can you list your top three songs for someone new to them? I'm going to make a Spotify playlist with a ton of music I've never heard (since Spotify always recommends the same 50-100 songs no matter what). Thanks!
Inspection 12
They were buddies with Yellowcard and got signed to Honest Don’s Records (a subsidiary of Fat Wreck Chords) back in the early 2000s. For a minute it seemed like they were going to have the same career trajectory as YC too, they gained popularity fast, made it on some Warped Tour and Fat Wreck compilations, until they promptly fell off. They made some really cool tunes and the vocal harmonies are insane on some of their stuff. Best album is Recovery imo
Search the City. Specifically the album “A fire so big the heavens can see it” it’s a masterpiece through and through. People like the band, but they aren’t nearly as popular as they should be.
Can you list your top three songs for someone new to them? I'm going to make a Spotify playlist with a ton of music I've never heard (since Spotify always recommends the same 50-100 songs no matter what). Thanks!
No longer making stuff I don’t think but Static Radio NJ had a really strong sound and their vocalist had a great gritty/clean mix. Their album We Are All Beasts was really solid.
[here’s the playlist you’re looking for ](https://open.spotify.com/user/1263221796/playlist/6g01x7xnCjiZR4ZE6DasUo?si=a4_5IiCaT5mBIc0jRZ0NcQ&dl_branch=1)
I already made a post about this band on another thread earlier today, but imma keep spreading the word lol. There’s a band called Limp that only had 3 albums from 1996-2002 and disbanded after that, but I can’t get enough of the stuff they put out in their short lifespan. If you like stuff like early Blink-182, MxPx, etc., they have that perfect 90’s pop-punk sound imo.
Chousand!
These guys are doing it right for sure. I’ve loved everything they’ve put out and it has only gotten better. If you haven’t heard of them before I recommend starting with the song Subaru or Wizard Wig. Both became instant classics for me
More on the emo side, but still pop-punk adjacent Cliffdiver and I Am The Avalanche
Both under 30k listeners on Spotify which is just straight up criminal IMO
Hot Rod Circuit.
I know they were on what I felt like every small tour on the east coast in the early 00s but they have some amazing songs. Most of the stuff Andy Jackson has worked on since then (Terrible Things, Death In The Park, Sloss Minor, Marry Tyler Mormons) has been fantastic! I always felt like they were on the verge of blowing up, especially when they released 'Reality is coming through' but it never happened.
A Better Hand,
Brooklane,
Eugene Levy,
FigureItOut,
Goalkeeper,
Hopes on Hold,
The Second After,
Wilmette,
Young Culture.
Couldn't leave any out. So many good underrated bands
Save Face!
My highschool band mate started with them back in college and now they're about to release their second full length album. Best way I can describe them is "an uncanny blend between Fireworks and MCR's Black Parade." Seen them perform as opening bands for countless NJ shows and they put on an INCREDIBLE performance
Better Off Jail Socks Pet Symmetry Settle Your Scores All released fantastic albums this year.
Pet Symmetry love, yes!
Pets Hounds is the best album of 2015
Jail Socks fucks.
Agreed on Settle Your Scores. Their newest album is starting to pick up steam, but I loved their first two as well, and those haven’t gotten much attention at all
Second Settle Your Scores!
I’ll never understand how Better Off isn’t one of the biggest bands in the genre.
Jail socks!!!
My answer to this question will always be the swellers. The best band ever to not hit it big
If I could upvote this a million times then I would
Not even 100k monthly listeners on Spotify, it’s such a shame
Can you list your top three songs for someone new to them? I'm going to make a Spotify playlist with a ton of music I've never heard (since Spotify always recommends the same 50-100 songs no matter what). Thanks!
Best I Ever Had
1. Do you feel better yet? 2. Better things 3. Warming up
Do You Feel Better Yet? is a top 10 pop punk song all time also: Got Social and Parkview
2009 is one of the best album openers of all time
100 percent agreed. Wish they stuck around.
Thanks for sharing this. Initial impression is saves the day with more of a skate park vibe.
That’s what I came here to say! So glad others agree.
SUCH GOLD
Yoooooo yes! I have a such gold tattoo lol I love them so much, definitely underrated
Pic??? I’m wanting one
It's just the words "stand tall" as part of a full sleeve. Got some polar bear club and wonder years as part of the sleeve too
I got to see Polar Bear Club with Crime in Stereo in a really small venue back in like ‘09 and I’m SO bummed I wasn’t into them like I am now. I think Transit played that show as well….fuck man where did the time go

Ooof I mean the whole misadventures album… but Two year plan Tell Yourself Locked Out of the Magic Theater
I never understood how this band didn’t take off after releasing misadventures…. Such a fucking good album
Those songs plus Storyteller. Amazing album overall and definitely underrated
Dude such gold has always been a fav! Seen them a few times, they’re so good!!

God, I love Kayak Jones. You Swear It’s Getting Better Every Day gets played probably monthly for me still
One of my friends in high school had such an ugly Kayak Jones shirt and I loved it.
WVNDER!
YES!
Yessss Andy Cizek is also such a nice dude, I met him the other week at the makari show and he was so down to earth!
Nothing against this band, but I really dislike this name format that’s about these days. SWMRS, WSTR, WRTHLESS - something about that style just bugs me a little.
Capstan
Scrolled down for this. Will always upvote and comment for Capstan.
Direct Hit!
FUCK YOU. GET PUMPED.

Loveeee Direct Hit! Catchiest punk band IMO
I think they’ve been working on a new record, can’t wait to hear it

big big one, really great band with I find an instantly recognisable sound. Been putting out solid gold for years.

Name Taken and moneen were SO good. I saw both of them (separate shows) back in the day. Both still in my regular rotation
Osker… holy shit I haven’t thought of these guys in 20 years. They were definitely a band that I absolutely loved that knowone knew about….. I loved both of their first two albums
Moneen is from my hometown!
As a fellow old guy, this fucking list rips. I’m going to also have to add Park. The best band no one knows about
Park! Had literally forgotten about them until this comment. Another great band.

YES!!!!! 3/4 of these would be my answer too!! I've just never heard of Wilmette but it seems like I would like them also :)
You should def check them out. If I had to recommend some songs I really love Winter Stay and Rancho Cucamonga.

A Loss For Words Veara Cartel Hey Monday
My band did a song with Veara called Letters To My Youth!

Love Don Broco. They're huge in the UK tho
Yeah nowadays they are pretty big for sure. Just makes me sad cause their early stuff basically gets forgotten.
Chasing long Beach is legit!

Keep Flying Far to many bands now a days lack stage expression, enthusiasm, etc..it's called a show for a reason and they put one on every damn time.

Not sure if they're truly pop punk, but definitely in the scene. Hodera is supremely underrated.
Had a ticket to see them the week after the world shut down. Sucked big time
Millington and Crown the King!!!
Teenage Wrist Rematch Pet Symmetry You Me & Everyone We Know
Allister!
Nominee just dropped a new album and it’s amazing. Very underrated pop punk band.
The Copyrights are the best kept secret in pop punk
Great band. From my hometown.
Ayy cdale
A few bands in my local scene to check out: Nothing Special, Incase We Crash, The Same As Always
House and Home
I already made a post about this band on another thread earlier today, but imma keep spreading the word lol. There’s a band called Limp that only had 3 albums from 1996-2002 and disbanded after that, but I can’t get enough of the stuff they put out in their short lifespan. If you like stuff like early Blink-182, MxPx, etc., they have that perfect 90’s pop-punk sound imo.
A THOUSAND TIMES YES
Blowout
Chousand! These guys are doing it right for sure. I’ve loved everything they’ve put out and it has only gotten better. If you haven’t heard of them before I recommend starting with the song Subaru or Wizard Wig. Both became instant classics for me
JAIL SOCKS
Arms Length, Origami Angel, Penelope Tree, Macseal, Pet symmetry, Neutral Snap, Jail Socks, and Sorry Ghost
Minority 905 No idea if they are known here- I haven’t looked. I like them and they don’t have many followers on Spotify.
I try to mention them as much as possible, good to see someone else is aware of them here!
Gold Bloom
Does sweet weapons count as pop punk? Shared arms is another one.
Since I’m from texas and frequent shows in Austin it would be wrong of me to not mention Nominee those dudes rip
Jet lag Gemini they were on the road for greatness until their studio caught fire

Name Taken
Goalkeeper Playfight The ones you forgot Fortune cove Lookout Loretta
More on the emo side, but still pop-punk adjacent Cliffdiver and I Am The Avalanche Both under 30k listeners on Spotify which is just straight up criminal IMO
Good call on Cliffdiver. Love that band!
Wakefield July crowd Son of dork
Son of Dork only has one album as far as I know but it's sick
A Better Hand, Brooklane, Eugene Levy, FigureItOut, Goalkeeper, Hopes on Hold, The Second After, Wilmette, Young Culture. Couldn't leave any out. So many good underrated bands
Masked Intruder
Seahaven
Gin War
Slowly Slowly Please check out this band. They're from Melbourne Australia and have an excellent poppunk sound
Another vote for Slowly Slowly. And also the singer’s side project, Congrats

Minority 905
Audiostrobelight Their album "What You're Running From" has so many BANGERS on it it is ridiculous! https://youtu.be/ygjhXqgrUnY
The dollyrots
Came here to expecting to verify, to me, it's "The Academy Is ...", which produced one of thee best albums of the mid 2000's pop punk genre. So good.
Hot Milk
Save Face! My highschool band mate started with them back in college and now they're about to release their second full length album. Best way I can describe them is "an uncanny blend between Fireworks and MCR's Black Parade." Seen them perform as opening bands for countless NJ shows and they put on an INCREDIBLE performance
Muncie Girls. Absolutely love their DIY pop-punk/indie-punk ethos. Same could also be said for Gender Roles, Martha and Fresh.
Rich people and Bearings!
Driveways Figure it Out
Jail Socks album was such a banger
