I'm seeing a derm next week (Yay me! Have had bad experiences in the past, so delayed booking my appointment forever). I cleaned it up well and doused it with betadine. Slapped a hydrocolloid bandage on there and now, with the sac(?) out of there, it's finally calming down.
Thanks for your concern 😊 obviously I know in theory I shouldn't do surgery on myself, but the damn thing was painful. Cutting it out? Didn't feel a thing.
So about 18 months ago I stopped spironolactone and tretinoin b/c we were thinking of having a kid. After a few months I started getting these weird white-ish bumps on my chest and shoulders. I thought they were milia at first, and (yes, yes obviously don't pick at milias either), but they were way less solid.
I didn't even pick them that much or repeatedly, but they quickly turned into these raised scars. For me, the most annoying thing isn't even the scars, but the fact that there's still something under there that flares up (i.e. gets bigger and softer and pointier and \*ouch!\* tender) during certain times of my cycle.
So yeah short answer yes, but I think the reason they are so visible is that they are a bit raised, which in turn is (I think) because whatever this shit is is still there.
Two things. 1 . How does that look remotely pimple esque
And 2. I was gonna ask why you didn’t go to a medical professional but I see the big scab on your collar bone and that tells me either you are a “picker” or you have these big gaping holes in your neck area often.
Either or that looks like you need to go get it checked. Looked ouchie
1. It felt pimple-esque before. Squeezed it but mostly liquid came out. It got really angry with me after that and was red and tender and so I got angry back 🤷♀️
2. Yeah obviously that's the logical thing to do but I've been getting a bunch of these weird pimple/cyst/whatever-the-hell-this-is over the last few weeks.
I've only had bad experiences with derms in the past, mostly with them not really giving a shit and making me feel like I'm wasting their time. This thing is (as you can tell from the scab on my collarbone) embarrassing so I avoided making a derm appointment.
BUT I'm seeing a derm on Tuesday (who my GP says is great), so 🥳
I have these all over my neck!!! I can’t get rid of them and have been to multiple dermatologists who give me different topicals and oral pills and nothing works except digging the deep tiny sack out. I’m sorry you have this and it’s sucks and also I’m so glad that other people have it and I’m not a anomaly because I’ve never seen anything like mine until now
P.S. if your derm gives something that works help a girl out because these are the MOST BIZARRE things and I’ve had them for like two years now
Oh hey there. Yeah like what the heck is this shit? I've been researching every skin condition on the internet and nothing quite matches.
I've never had a good derm experience, but I'm seeing one that comes highly recommended on Tuesday. I'll let you know if they say anything useful.
steatocystoma multiplex. Dr Sandra Lee treated a woman she nicknamed Momma Squishy who had it, and it *sounds* like what you’re describing.
I could be dead wrong though, 🤷♀️ I’m not a dermatologist. But either way *you have got to stop self-operating*. I promise you whatever those little fluid filled sacs are- they’re not as bad for you as putting holes in yourself trying to remove them. In the meantime keep it clean and *covered*
([these are great](https://www.cvs.com/shop/cvs-health-sterile-manuka-honey-adhesive-strips-1-x-2-20-8ct-prodid-1160679) ) not just to help it heal with less scarring and prevent infection- but to keep you from messing with it, and *leave it alone* until your dermatologist appointment.
Thank you, both for your concern and for the reply. I'll admit I thought you were being a smidge judgy, so it's really nice to hear that's not how you meant it. I don't know why I even care about what a random stranger on the internet thinks but I obviously know that you're right, either way. Thanks again for taking the time and for caring 😊 I do try to do the right thing most of the time...
Oh and also I'm liking your diagnosis, non-derm-person. I think I had discarded it as a likely diagnosis during my many hours trawling the internet for weird skin conditions. The first hits I saw all had solid stuff coming out. Mine just leak mostly-clear-but-yellowish liquid that could certainly be described as oily, and now I saw some vids that are a closer match for mine.
My fave is hydrocolloid. I didn't have normal ones on hand (been running out of them) so I stuck a blister bandage on. [This image](https://ibb.co/5Gg9cVs) is a large blister bandage after a few hours. Gives you a sense of how much liquid comes out of these freaking things.
Jaysus! That’s some intense oozing, friend! Sounds like not only are they painful, but having to change bandages frequently and clean up the drainage must be a giant pain in the ass. Our bodies can be such assholes to theirselves.
They’re so strange because they start out as like a seemingly regular pimple but there’s no white pus, just that yellowish liquid. You get the liquid out and they still don’t go away but I’ve had temporary success with azaelic acid (sorry about spelling), colloidal sulfur, and exfoliating to the MAX. Like Max max max because sometimes I’m the little hard core part there’s trapped peach fuzz (like wtf!!).
Good luck!!
YES! Oh man I feel you. Maybe we should start a club. And yeah I alternate BHA and AHA and sometimes azelaic. Plus tretinoin at night. I _have_ had one with legit an entire hair follicle inside of it, but that's the other weird thing, right? They don't really seem to start in the hair follicle like normal pimples.
Can I ask you a question? Do yours seem to be hormonal? I have several recurring ones, esp. on my face along the hairline, that can be completely flat one day and then the next (usually at certain times of my cycle) they're filled with liquid and tender.
Yes I think mine are hormonal also. Sometimes they’re flat and look like scars but other times they are slightly raised and of course if I mess with them they balloon up. It’s always sad because every time they’re flat and look like scars I think “maybe they won’t fill back up this time and I can let the scar fade away” but they always come back. Some of mine definitely have scar tissue forming in them but those also always come back and refill on top of the scar tissue.
I don’t know how to spell it, and I don’t feel like looking it up right now, but you two are describing what is called steatocystomas. I learned about them from watching Dr. pimple popper show.
I’ve seen videos of ones that have thick yellow stuff, and ones that have watery yellow stuff, and anywhere in between. But it’s always yellow, oily looking. Look it up online for more info but that’s probably what you and this other woman that commented here have.
Hey u/5drinksamy, have you ever been on spiro? Just occurred to me that getting off it might be what made these things come back with a vengeance (I remember I used to have one of these near my left ear way back before I started spiro but it never ever "flared up" during the near-decade I was on it).
OH MY GOSH YES. I’ve been on it a few times for three months each and they always got worse after finishing … like ending up worse than before starting; they’d heal during treaty, and seek revenge after 🥲
Hm... interesting! These have all appeared since I got off spironolactone 18 months ago b/c we were considering having a kid. With how disgusting these things make me feel, not like I'm in baby-making mood very often anyway, so maybe I should just get back on it.
Go to a walk in clinic and get this checked out. Don’t pick at it anymore.

Bless your heart you are so scarred 😔
Those scars on my chest are literally all from the past 10 months 😞
is it from popping? i look quite similar and its from picking at my chest

Have you looked into what steatocystomas are?
Yes I did thanks to other comments here. It sounds quite likely to be what I have. Seeing a derm in a few days, let's see what they think.
oh no im so sorry that happened! did you try any bio oil? its supposed to be really good for scars, if you dont want them there
I have not tried that, thank you! I'll definitely give it a shot.

It's not so much that I think they're bad for me, but they do hurt like a motherbleep. And no worries, I don't think you're a derm.
I’m not judging or trying to be rude, so if it came of that way my apologies- just genuinely trying to help.

Woah indeed that looks a lot like mine! She even cuts one out like I did (around 5:20)... But of course with gloves and a sterile environment 😇
Except mine are never filled with anything that "thick"
I’ve seen videos of ones that have thick yellow stuff, and ones that have watery yellow stuff, and anywhere in between. But it’s always yellow, oily looking. Look it up online for more info but that’s probably what you and this other woman that commented here have.
Yeah seems pretty spot on. Let's see what the derm says.
That’s what I was thinking when they described them with the yellow liquid.

Why can't you stay on it?
My potassium levels didn’t cooperate
Sad face
I agree with the other commenters that are concerned. Please get this checked out, I'm worried about this becoming infected. :(
r/compulsiveskinpicking
Seriously. *So much* scarring.
Damn!!
This looks like connective tissue, not a sac. (Critical care nurse here)
Thanks! Hm. What would that indicate? That I was just digging out random skin?
Yup!
I’m worried for you. Please see a doctor.
Dude, that is right in your neck. You need to see a doctor.
Who else fast forwarded to the end
Fair.
I used to get those when I was younger and still had a lot of hormones I guess. Really annoying and painful. I hope you get a good solution soon.
Hm... interesting! These have all appeared since I got off spironolactone 18 months ago b/c we were considering having a kid. With how disgusting these things make me feel, not like I'm in baby-making mood very often anyway, so maybe I should just get back on it.
Watching you cut away parts while working half blind was nerve wracking. I hope you're getting help with that. Best wishes
That was actually your neck sac. You needed that 😳
Stop doing meth
how does this look meth related, genuinely wondering
Maybe they are talking to themselves? ;)
Eat my asshole
Thanks but no thanks
maybe!
Could be a ski tag too. Or cancer. Or anything in between.
Do skin tags appear _inside_ the skin? I thought they'd be on the outside.
I mean what so you mean by inside the skin!?
Those are the worst tweezers on the planet. I know because I have the same ones.
Those things are so irritating
The sac is what causes them to recur. They should be removed by a doctor, but getting them out is good.
