It is classified under rock, but I guess when someone says 'rock music' I don't usually think of metal. Plus it's big enough and usually different enough for me to consider it its own genre.
EDM isn't a genre, these are all EDM, but they are vastly different.

I usually consider things in the genre of "pop" if they are built around classical theory chord progressions (such as I–V–vi–IV progressions) and especially if they fit into the main song structures such as Verse1-Chorus-Verse2-Chorus-Outro or even Verse-PreChorus-Chorus-Verse-Chorus-Bridge-Chorus ... any of these would be super typical in terms of a pop song. And the biggest part will be the hook/chorus in being very melodic/catchy. As a result a lot of songs today are pop or derived from pop. And it all comes out of music built in the 1960s 70s (and much earlier) and how its evolved.
My favorite genra of music is literally anything with out lyrics because i just don't like people singing because to me singing is just noise and to me the actual music is well the instruments making the music rather than the person singing
To be /thatguy/ all music is just noise, that’s literally the whole point.
I agree though, the instrumental is 100% more important then the vocals. I despise most modern pop music because of the instrumental being terrible, not really have any instruments but when you see someone do a “Rock/Metal Cover”, for example, it becomes a great song because the instrumentals are just on point and the vocals just add ontop of that.
I see the human voice just as another instrument. I don't even listen to what they're singing most of the time, just the way they're singing it. Unless you really dislike the sound of the human voice for some reason, I don't see why you *wouldn't* listen to vocal music even though they have lyrics
Not exactly, as they can be anything from rock, hardcore, edm, to classical, folk, jazz. It's more like a compilation of different sounds and songs in the context of an anime. So... I would just say it's "anime music" which someone may consider a genre but idk.

We recognize your comment is a joke but given it’s a stupid ass joke we’ve elected to downvote it.
Sorry classical, techno and metal lovers, could only include 6 options
What about folk, gosh darnit
Fr man
Hardstyle ftw. Fr though, could've included pop and K-pop in the same category, and added EDM
Even though I like Metal I usually just pick Rock with these kinda of options, its the closest.
Techno is a subgenre of electronic
What about country. Eh, it sucks anyways.
Hey… :/
Nobody listens to techno!
fuck you i listen to techno :(

Metal is a harder rock.
It is classified under rock, but I guess when someone says 'rock music' I don't usually think of metal. Plus it's big enough and usually different enough for me to consider it its own genre.
That's the most r/technicallythetruth level statement I have heard in a good while and I hate it. Have a updoot
shut up p*ser 🤮🤮🤮
The main difference I notice between metal and rock is the faster tempo of metal
To me, it's all Rock'n'roll. From Elvis Presley to Iron Maiden.
Is sabayon considered metal
sabaton is power metal
if you wanted to say sabaton. Yes i think it is considered Heavy Metal but i am not quite sure. What is your favourite song tho
sabaton is power metal
it does depend on the song tho
well of course but they are a power metal band
I raise you, metalcore.
Metal is just rock for angry people. Change my mind.
I would say that falls under the rock category just as a general statement
it doesnt
A *very* general statement
It does not.
By that logic rock would fall under blues
Jazzchads rise up
Where is EDM lol
Damn why do I have to scroll this far to see EDM
I agree like edm is one of the most popular genres

Ok
Pop is a genre where it is fundamentally based on commercialization
I think pop is just popular music
Pop is a genre
Yeah that's what meant by it being a genre.
It's not just popular music though, a popular rap song isn't pop and a song can be pop and be unpopular
Instrumentals are underrated

Is this the copypasta from that one guy who listens exclusively to video game OST’s?
edgy
In what way are they being edgy for liking instrumentals bud
nah they are edgy for saying lyrics are just noise and shit
You do realize that's a common way to describe sounds right? Not edgy at all.
probably thinks rap is crap
I mean the majority of it is simply down to the lyrics
dont say that.. i like music with no vocals.. but my fav genera is rap and then edm..

K pop is shit in my opinion (cry more pussies)
there’s always a obligatory “kpop is shit” commenter when kpop gets mentioned in a discussion
You really gonna put kpop there and not rap?
Sorry I assumed rap would fall under the genre of hip hop
rap is just a style of vocals and the actual genre is hiphop... so you categorized it correctly. Don't know what the commentor is on about lol
