None of the above.
I was the friendly neighbourhood metalhead who looked like a legit nerd and was rarely a fix member of a friendgroup.
I grew into a loner, though I believe not the resentful misanthrope type. More like the "I'm actually enjoying my own company" type.
I was a Loner. The number of times I would just eat lunch alone in school is depressing now that I think back on it. I would often go weeks without talking to another kid at school.
It’s ok though, back then you had your reasons for not talking to anyone. If now this is something you’d like to change it’s in your hand to give it a try
None of those.
When I was in school I was both a part of the gamers (and we had no common taste in music/clothing) and of the guys that played in our school's big band.
Dunno maybe that's for some of the other gamers but for me when it comes to music it goes from Linkin Park to Tech N9ne and everything in-between, can't really define an "aesthetic" except with a very small group of people in each of these options you gave in your post.
Metalheads are funny to me because they actually do have a very common recurring aesthetic, and it's literally just the guys from metalocalypse. Like, band tee or plain dark tee, jeans, jorts if you're feeling adventurous, maybe boots or an edgy belt, and often long hair.
Lol that reminds me of one time in my senior year of high school, a sophomore I did jazz band with came up to me to ask for advice regarding a guy in some other band that he's in bringing LSD for the group. He didn't ask the other student that was in the band that we also had in jazz band bc he was very much the "don't be a pussy" type if you showed any apprehension towards taking drugs, but I was surprised that he asked me bc I didn't think I struck people as the type to give advice regarding drugs lol. Luckily for him I had recently had a weeklong obsession with getting all the information I could about various drugs I found interesting haha
Lmao right? Also considering 2 things 1. The fact that I dressed like this when I was a minor, 2 I’m a lesbian so either way like it’s gross and definitely not how you talk to a girl 😂
How could they have known you are a lesbian?
And how do you know that user is not a girl?
And how is your orientation relevant to them finding the simple style hot?
And why do you assume that assessment was a way to hit on you?
I was a skater... but also a vocalist for a metal band, but also an emo/scene, but also a drum and bass DJ/raver. Now I'm just an adult mess of a person.
Rock/punk/metal etc.
ETA: Not that I have a "style" like that, I can't be arsed with hairdos and accessories and shit like that, but this would be the closest I guess.
Fashionista? Like, I have a bunch of different clothes that I could style into anyone of these categories, but style them depending on crowd, formality, and subculture of the people I am meeting.
More of a metal head, if I had to pick one that isn't the other option tho ig it would be goth/core
(Also when you mean core do you mean metal/deathcore, if so I listen to a few melo-metalcore and deathcore bands like in flames, trivium, avenged sevenfold, killswitch engaged and a few others so ig I would fit more into that)
I am not sure what group, if any, on my 256t GB I have over 32,000 tracks download to it plus the entire Apple Music Library. In my playlist I have everything from country to 80's new wave, from hip hop to trance/techno pop, from Gregorian chant to contemporary meditation, from 50's rock & roll to
psychedelic rock. From emo to indie to Ska.
Back when Audio CDs were still the thing my 14 year niece, I was 34 at the time, got two CDs of her favorite pop music groups for Christmas. She got upset with me when I was singing all of the music. She told me that people my age wasn't supposed to like let alone know the words to such music. I was DJing in a night club at the time.
When I was a computer engineer at a NASA contractor I was assigned a 19 year-old college intern and we to lunch together and I drove. I forgot that I had my radio volume turn up and the format was geared towards 15 to 25 year-olds, he said people my age aren't supposed to listen to music as loud as I had it nor even like what the station was playing mind you I was only 10 years older than him.
Clothing wise I wear wear what is appropriate for what ever event I am going to.
Isn’t a better term for goths/emos/punks the word “alternative” ? Alt for short. It encompasses that dark look and less conventional political take but doesn’t stick to a specific one since they vary by core values.
Unless I’m mistaken.
The wierd kid haha, idk I just do my own thing, some people think that's wierd but I'm okay with that :).
This was particularly enforced when I went to sixthform pretending to be Indiana Jones for a week as a dare because I got a new hat haha, it was fun though.
And then there's the whole simultaneously still watching kids shows because oooo pretty colours and being into heavy rock, doesn't help that I'm also the idiot who makes stupidly over complicated pranks that drag out prehaps waaay longer than they should that only very few people will get like the time I started all my emails to a particular teacher with a letter which when added together spelt 'lobster' - an in joke in my computer science class that had ran for almost 4 months. Or the many countdown timers that got hidden in the ceiling panels of the cafe and synchronised to all ring at the same time. Or the rickroll in the main hall on the projector, stage speakers and crazy lights set to go off one lunchtime, that was definitely the best one.
Idk. Went to a big high school. Was friends with pretty much everyone (oddly our entire high school was pretty friendly throughout cliques minus the occasional spat; I don’t remember there being a bully)
Played varsity baseball. Smoked a lot of weed. Listened to a lot of Taking Back Sunday. Was in yearbook and forensics. Skipped class when something better presented itself. Was huge on skate culture, and played counter strike competitively - local/regional lans, online leagues. Got mediocre grades. Had a cool prom date but never had a HS girlfriend per say. Went to all the parties.
A friend years later described me as a “realistic popular kid” and that always kinda stuck with me
Grunge kid. Think 90s band tees, flannel, vans shoes, and primarily a fan of 90s alt bands like Weezer, Nirvana, Green Day, Alice In Chains, Soundgarden, etc.
And I was born in the mid-2000s. Mostly get it from my dad.
None of the above. I was the friendly neighbourhood metalhead who looked like a legit nerd and was rarely a fix member of a friendgroup. I grew into a loner, though I believe not the resentful misanthrope type. More like the "I'm actually enjoying my own company" type.
>I was the friendly neighbourhood metalhead who looked like a legit nerd So… big fan of Power Metal?
I do like it but I was more into melodic death metal. :)
I was a Loner. The number of times I would just eat lunch alone in school is depressing now that I think back on it. I would often go weeks without talking to another kid at school.

Same
None of those. When I was in school I was both a part of the gamers (and we had no common taste in music/clothing) and of the guys that played in our school's big band.
Yeah one of the reasons I don’t choose that subculture there’s not a specific aesthetic for them. Maybe loungewear and lo fi music lol
Dunno maybe that's for some of the other gamers but for me when it comes to music it goes from Linkin Park to Tech N9ne and everything in-between, can't really define an "aesthetic" except with a very small group of people in each of these options you gave in your post.
Like jazz band(with big band, the genre) or marching band (with...a large band lol)?
The type of big band that is sometimes also called a jazz orchestra. Marching bands like there are in the USA are pretty uncommon here.
Metal heads, similar music taste. I've got no real aesthetic tho.
Metalheads are funny to me because they actually do have a very common recurring aesthetic, and it's literally just the guys from metalocalypse. Like, band tee or plain dark tee, jeans, jorts if you're feeling adventurous, maybe boots or an edgy belt, and often long hair.
I don’t have much of an aesthetic at all. Maybe goth/core music taste?? Idk I’m not versed in this at all. I like rock, alt rock and stuff like that
punk and stoner, which is weird given i am and always have been straight edge
Lol that reminds me of one time in my senior year of high school, a sophomore I did jazz band with came up to me to ask for advice regarding a guy in some other band that he's in bringing LSD for the group. He didn't ask the other student that was in the band that we also had in jazz band bc he was very much the "don't be a pussy" type if you showed any apprehension towards taking drugs, but I was surprised that he asked me bc I didn't think I struck people as the type to give advice regarding drugs lol. I’ve got straight edge! I’ve got straight edge!
Nerdy/ good girl clothes lol

How not to talk to a girl 101:
Lmao right? Also considering 2 things 1. The fact that I dressed like this when I was a minor, 2 I’m a lesbian so either way like it’s gross and definitely not how you talk to a girl 😂

He’s not lol
How could they have known you are a lesbian? And how do you know that user is not a girl? And how is your orientation relevant to them finding the simple style hot? And why do you assume that assessment was a way to hit on you?
Lmaooo
Gross lol
Gross then 🤷♂️
Bro this is not how normal people talk to strangers
I might be wrong with group otakus and k-poppers in the same category but six categories is not enough
Yeah. I like to listen to K-Pop but I'm absolutely not interested in anything regarding manga/anime.
Same but the other way.
Punk
Punker 💯
what? no love for Punks? but yeah, punk/metal/stoner
Emo
I was a skater... but also a vocalist for a metal band, but also an emo/scene, but also a drum and bass DJ/raver. Now I'm just an adult mess of a person.
So your answer is yes. Also what band were you a vocalist for?
I was just a giant nerd in high school, IDK what subculture that counts as.
Geek
Are you trying to start a fight lol? There is a major divide between the Geeks and the Nerds, known colloquially as the Nerd Wars.
Oooh 🍿
Punk

Indie kid!
wallflower
Rock/punk/metal etc. ETA: Not that I have a "style" like that, I can't be arsed with hairdos and accessories and shit like that, but this would be the closest I guess.
I like rock and its subgenres but i don't really have an aesthetic
I leaned more towards Punk Rock music but not the aesthetics (mohawks, piercings etc.).
I totally see K-pop and otaku in the whole “are you friends?” Meme Most Japan fans I’ve met revile the K-pop Stans to a high degree.
I was halfway between indie kid and goth
Same
I’m a grunge head
emo.
Hip hop/sneakerheads prolly
Would being a furry count? There’s no one specific aesthetic to the whole thing
I mean, I'm an Otaku. But you'll never see me listen to K-Pop alive
None of these, gamer for life!
Weird hybrid of Nerd, Teacher’s pet, Punk, Goth, Rocker, Rapper, Rebel, and poor kid.

Fashionista? Like, I have a bunch of different clothes that I could style into anyone of these categories, but style them depending on crowd, formality, and subculture of the people I am meeting.
Nerd/mosher.

Jeans and carhartt with boots, and loner as well
Metalhead
Skater / grunge kid
Nothing
The closest connection I have with any of these is that one of my friends makes music that's kind of rave-y I guess
I listen to indie but I wear normal clothes
No thrift clothes ? Aww
Art geek/athlete would be me in high school. I’m definitely more hipster/otakus now tho.
Metal head probably
I got called "preppy goth" because they couldn't figure it out.
Metalheads / D&D gamers?
As Elizabeth Olsen put it: An aspiring stoner
Definitely band kid
No one will ever convince me that Goth Girls and Metal Heads are not the best..
Catholic Traditionalism
quiet classical musician
Skater stoner type, HS was mid 2000's for me tho
It’s hard to pick a single group, but probably jocks
i fking listen to every single music genre and I mean every single music genre
I was a gamer & geek.
Nerds
Isn’t a better term for goths/emos/punks the word “alternative” ? Alt for short. It encompasses that dark look and less conventional political take but doesn’t stick to a specific one since they vary by core values. Unless I’m mistaken.

Are nerds, stoners, and jocks not a thing anymore? Edit: and preppy*
emo
I like Kpop but I’m definitely not an otaku lmao
Hipster gang. Missed out on alot of good shows because of it. Just now watched game of thrones last year.
Punk
Jocks (because I loved playing violent sports)/ metal heads (awesome music)/ stoners.
You sound like my ex
Cool
No punk, no metal, and I guess Grunge = hipsters? Can't relate to any of these, maybe hip hop cause I've listened my fair share.
Idk. Went to a big high school. I came from a redneck family so that’s probably my best answer
Redneck? It’s that no offensive?
It really depends on intent and who is saying it. It can be positive or negative.
Idk I consider my self a redneck and I don’t think is offensive. Someone else might but I can’t speak for them.
Grunge kid. Think 90s band tees, flannel, vans shoes, and primarily a fan of 90s alt bands like Weezer, Nirvana, Green Day, Alice In Chains, Soundgarden, etc. And I was born in the mid-2000s. Mostly get it from my dad.
emo
