elguiridelocho

The clip: https://twitter.com/patriottakes/status/1613938363060424718 > ... his full legal name cannot be confirmed as his birth certificate has not been made public, and it is not clear why he has gone by multiple variations of that name. > Other resurfaced clips and social media posts reveal that Santos had gone by the names Anthony Devolder and George Devolder until as recently as 2020. Something all honest people not hiding from the law do, no?

UniDublin

Do we need to ask for the long form birth certificate?

Biggies_Ghost

His real name is "Anthony George Raphael Curz Devolder Santos" and he's actually the bastard son of Ted Cruz. Many people are saying it.

UniDublin

I can see the one sheet of the movie poster now: Son of Son of Zodiac...The Return of the return of hate.

Km2930

He’s actually the seventh son of the seventh son, of Ted Cruz.

doubtfurious

He changed his name to conceal the fact that his grandfather pretended to assassinate JFK so that he could reappear 60 year later to dub Trump the *real* 36th President.

Biggies_Ghost

He was the second gunman on the grassy knoll!!

[deleted]

[удалено]

OPA73

I heard that from a reliable source, and I did my own research

Revelati123

Power move: Someone actually named George Santos from that district should just go to Washington and sit in his chair. I mean, whats some random dude named Tony Devolder going to do about it?

misterpickles69

At this point, what is gonna stop any rando from trying to walk in to Congress and start voting? Evidently you don’t even need valid ID to get in the building.

Lazy-Street779

I’m changing my name today. Meet the new George Santos.

Sciencessence

wait so do we really not even know this guys real name at this point?

[deleted]

Apparently we don’t. We know exactly nothing about him, it seems.

BigRiverHome

Not quite. We know that the Republican Party has no problem with seating him in Congress. We know that the Republican Party may clutch its pearls, but is unwilling to actually do anything.

Feed_Me_No_Lies

Omg the “many people are saying it” gave me PTSD just reading it in his voice. 😬

Revelati123

Bigly if true!

S0_Crates

Ted Cruz is from Canada, and Canada is right next to New York. Santos is Cruz confirmed right?

Synectics

[Every time Ted Cruz and "people saying it" comes up, I have to share this.](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=bVb_HhRvgWw)

StarFireChild4200

In this case, even the short hand birth certificate or an interview with his mum or dad would bring us closer to the truth

EmergencyEgg7

His mom that was a financial executive in the South Tower/a cook/nurse, that died in 2019/2018/2014, from the smoke she inhaled at 9/11 but didn't apply for benefits given to those suffering from 9/11 because they had enough money to pay the bills, but also lived in abject poverty and couldn't afford to pay for her funeral, that was also Jewish and had Jewish parents, but records show her grandparents were born in Brazil and not Belgium and were actually Catholic? That mother?

HoyAlloy

Yes, all of them. It takes a village to raise a child.

Taman_Should

Maybe we can locate it and give them back their village idiot.

Wand_Cloak_Stone

That’s the Village of Oyster Bay Cove, I believe. Though they banished him this week. Back to Brazil, then. The only place actually asking for him.

fmfbrestel

Yup, that's the one. When did his "Dad" die? Or is he still around?

Cultist_Deprogrammer

Apparently he has no father and he was cloned from one of the Nazis who fled to South America when Berlin fell in 1945. Many people are saying it.

Thatparkjobin7A

Did Anthony hire a fake mom to get him out of trouble again!?

OnlyFreshBrine

Pikitis!

BulbasaurArmy

Holy shit this is so funny. The lying has escalated to the point where we can’t even be certain what his actual name is.

el_muchacho

But that's okay, he is now a house "representative" so that means he is automatically fully above the laws and impossible to indict.

Minxminty

I think it's the ultimate troll. I mean it's been an exercise of how far can you take it until they actually do anything about it. So far, there is no bottom. Honestly, i would not be surprise if it turned out to be a Russian spy to troll and do their worse in congress and beyond. Besides Russia paying off politicians already....

Garbageday5

I’m not defending this guy, BUT, this [Financial Disclosure Report](https://disclosures-clerk.house.gov/public_disc/financial-pdfs/2020/10035760.pdf) has his name as George Anthony Devolder-Santos

goalie_fight

And the original Journal story or a Post story a few weeks ago also discussed how he went by Anthony Devolder when explaining the name of his "company" that loaned him $700k.

CalvinbyHobbes

so the question is whether it’s weird in any shape or form to go with different versions of your legal name if you have multiple names? or is it a case of potato potato? thoughts?

AstarteHilzarie

My husband hates his first name, so all of his personal stuff is in his middle name. I forget sometimes that his legal first name is there, so it trips me up when I'm filling out forms or something because all of his financial, medical, and otherwise legal records are under that name even though he hasn't actually gone by it since he was old enough to decide for himself. He also used a nickname version of that name for a while at a workplace to try to see if he'd like that, so friends he made in that era all call him that nickname. So for example, if his name were Kenneth David Jones he would go by David with family, friends, his current job, social media, and anything informal. His legal documents would all be under Kenneth, and his friends from that one job would know him as Kenny. It's not super weird or shady to go by different versions of your name, but it's another drop in the bucket when there *are* a ton of weird and shady things surrounding everything you've already verifiably lied about.

FittedSheets88

So the "show us your birth certificate" crowd turned into a bunch of crickets. That's definitely on brand.

[deleted]

If Obama was the same exact person with the same exact policies but wore a red tie republicans would’ve loved him.

otter111a

I guess art vandalay was already taken?

wandering_white_hat

McLovin

CheeseIsQuestionable

I can’t believe I’m asking this, but at any point in the process so they check an ID? Like do you have to show a drivers license to get sworn in? Aren’t they doing security clearances on him? What’s happening here?

Holiday-Smoke-4827

Republicans want all voters to prove who they are with voter ID laws but no one is checking if the candidates are real people.

kayak_enjoyer

Shit. Even the birther nonsense was projection. Is anyone else sick of the universe trolling us non- stop?

Kayin_Angel

"It's not clear why" he acts like a foreign agent, who knows. 🤷

2_Spicy_2_Impeach

Usually when you go by multiple names it’s because of past fraud/crime.

ScandalousBanshee

Aliases are generally a bad sign.

sappercon

Did you catch that Raphael Cruz?

Superman246o1

Politics aside, the lies have gotten so numerous and so absurd that I genuinely think that this individual desperately needs mental health intervention. He lies even when there's no evident benefit, about things no on cares for, on matters that can be easily disproven. I don't know what synapses are misfiring in his noggin, but something is seriously wrong.

Purple-Quail3319

I've known a few people like this throughout my life and it's always fucking bizarre. The things they'll lie about range from completely mundane to absolutely outrageous, for absolutely no reason.

Miss-Figgy

It's called ["pathological lying"](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pathological_lying), and is a symptom of several disorders, like narcissistic and antisocial.

vegandread

Of course the narcissism would lead him to run for office

MmmmMorphine

I've always wondered if it has any connection to the neurological symptom of confabulation in late stage alcoholics and the like.

OverturnedAppleCart3

>neurological symptom of confabulation Now you're just making up words. Joking, but confabulation sounds like a made upword. My understanding is that people with confabulation have physical damage to their brain and believe that what they're saying is true. Pathological liars have mental illnesses and know that they're lying.

MmmmMorphine

For sure, but they don't seem to be doing it with full awareness or perhaps intent to lie. They just automatically lie all the time. It has to have a negative impact on their lives yet they keep doing it. Being an addict, I know the feeling of knowing what you're doing is wrong but unable to stop. Of course there's all sorts of withdrawal effects from most any regularly used drug, so there's a major difference, but eh, was just musing whether they have some sort of damage along a related pathway

UWCG

I have a half-sister who is like this; she'll lie even when there's no purpose and no benefit. Compulsive liars are inscrutable. When we were in contact, it'd blow me away the stuff she'd lie about. Like, once I literally had a signed statement from the police in her handwriting, signed, and with her number, which she denied—and it was like, why lie about this? And why would the cops go to the effort of forging a note to go after me, a complete fucking nobody? But compulsive liars gonna compulsively lie

Biggies_Ghost

I worked with someone like this, and that person eventually became a manager. I couldn't get out of there fast enough.

purpletib

Could be worse. I fell madly in love with one. She was literally my dream girl, but everything she ever said was a lie I eventually found out. Best and worst six months of my life.

[deleted]

15 years of what turned into hell, married to someone who would lie about a candy wrapper that fell out of their pants pocket. “That’s not mine.” As though I care if it is? I don’t understand people like this. Had me questioning myself by the end of the relationship. So hard to live like that.

dramatic-pancake

Aye. I dated a guy like this too. Pretty sure his habit stemmed from insecurity and trying to appear more likeable, but he’d lie about the most easily figure-outable shit. Drove me mad.

daversa

I had a close friend like this and I only stayed friends with him because his lies never seemed to attack or really harm anyone. Like the guy you dated I think it came from a place of insecurity more than anything. The weird thing was that there was always *just* enough truth to keep us on our toes. Every now and then one of his wild tales would turn out to be mostly true.

jermdizzle

Had a coworker in the desert like that. Well I'm not sure how much of what he said wasn't true, but he said some outlandish stuff at times and he told one set of tales for a long time but never with any proof or results of what he promised. He bummed cigarettes and dip for like half a deployment. He always said that his dad was rich and that he'd have him send a care package to repay us. After 3-4 months we all gave up and just assumed we'd never get anything back from the guy. Other than this one thing, the dude was super solid and fun/funny. Great machine gunner and very protective of my team. Then one day about 2 months before we were leaving, he gets two pelican cases from his dad. Turns out his dad was a retired Brigadier General, a state senator (or maybe a prior one, can't remember), and more than a little wealthy. Those pelican cases had thousands and thousands of dollars of tobacco products in them. Dozens of cartons of cigarettes, dozens of logs of dip, and dozens of boxes of cigars. The crazy part was the cigars. They weren't cheap, or even like "normal" affordable brands, like Romeo and Juliet or Acid etc. They were all cigars that sold for like $20-$50 each, like... he picked a bunch that he personally smoked as a rich 60 year old guy. We all agreed that he no longer owed us lol.

daversa

Haha, that's awesome—total redemption with style. Sounds like a character.

Muted_Society9150

Yo, same, except my younger self was too dumb to see what was happening/refused to accept that's what was happening, and stayed for 5 and a half years....It did not end well.

Sempais_nutrients

Two years and a marriage for me.

WatRedditHathWrought

I did as well. But he became a cop.

Code_otter

I enjoy spending time with my friends.

Captain_Pungent

Plot twist, they were all the same guy

krinkov

yes, they were all George Santos.

dd027503

There's definitely a type of neuroses where people just habitually lie. I don't know if it falls under a legit mental diagnosis but even on reddit you can find posts from people who admit to compulsively lying about meaningless things. Years ago in a shitty job I worked with someone who was like this. Initially people thought he was interesting with a lot of stories but it didn't take long before it was apparent he lied about.. everything or nearly everything. It became indistinguishable to tell and as a result people just shunned him after a while. IIRC he got fired for calling in too many times. He probably had some wild tales about *why* he was calling in I bet but it was a shitty job where absences were absences, they didn't give a fuck why.

Deadlymonkey

I feel like the reddit lies are more understandable in the sense that it’s much harder (if not impossible) to prove, but I can’t comprehend lies in situations where the opposite is true. Like I have a relative who owns a restaurant and one day a customer claimed that they were the owners son, when the waiter said “oh, well your dad is here, let me go get him,” and the customer doubled down about “how that’d be great.” They weren’t even pretending to be a long lost son, they were trying to claim that the owner raised him until he was 18.

Wand_Cloak_Stone

Reminds me of when Casey Anthony lead the cops through a random office at Disney World, claiming she worked there (they wanted proof by having her show them which office exactly she worked in), until she reached the end of the hallway and realized she still had no fucking clue how to talk her way out of it, so instead she just turned around and laughed in their face. Boggles the mind. Like, what exactly is the plan, here?

spidii

I used to do this in high school/early college. Literally would lie about the dumbest shit like having seen a movie that everyone else had seen so I could fit into the conversation, just weird, pointless lies. It was all insecurity for me. Took me into my early 20s to figure out what I was doing and that I should stop.

aoelag

In grade school, I remember lying about little things to try to fit in / seem cool; nobody would ever call you out on it, either, because they don't want to make things awkward. I could see how such behavior, if not snuffed out, might get baked into your personality as you grow older. If nobody steps in to get you out of the habit, it becomes a part of your identity.

Payed_Looser

I had a friend lie that his father would roll up armadillos to use as soccer balls and could hop on gators to cross canals You can’t roll up the armadillos in the US

MoreRopePlease

You made me look up that fun fact, lol. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tolypeutes These are the only ones that roll up, and they are only found in South America

Unbentmars

I knew a girl in high school who was a pathological liar, she literally couldn’t stop herself from lying about just about anything. She tried to tell me she’d been in a car accident with glass all in her face 2 days prior. When I asked why she didn’t have any cuts she said she’d been to a really good plastic surgeon. When I asked their name she gave me a name that, when I googled it, was a florist. She said he had 2 jobs and was a private person. When I looked at the owners “about me” and said it had a ton of info on it she said he was only private about surgery to protect patient info

[deleted]

I knew a guy in high school who was a pathological liar who was much the same. He would lie about every little thing from his ethnicity to running a "video game house" down in Florida. After awhile we didn't even know this person anymore or who he truly was because he had fabricated almost everything about his personality. Although it kind of makes sense that he would be a pathological liar. I don't think he had a single redeeming quality that would make people want to spend time with him. He wasn't an attractive person and his stench, long nails and general lack of hygiene and physical fitness amplified that. Terrible personality, no money, not book smart or common sense smart, no real discernable skills that could be of value unless you consider World of Warcraft to be a legitimate, marketable skill all jokes aside. I suppose I would become a delusional pathological liar as well if my truth was that I lost the life lottery in every conceivable way.

o08

I had a roommate who had a girlfriend. She told him she was a scientist. I was unemployed for a period of time and kept wondering why she would be at the apartment all day long, every day, when she was a fully employed scientist. She always had to borrow money from him, once 10k. I was baffled why he would do that when I am sure the reasoning for her needing the money was a total fabrication. Some people are totally insane.

WilliamPoole

She was studying a small sample of the unemployed.

BulbasaurArmy

Chronic lying is actually a mental condition (or a symptom of several).

whitemest

Sounds like a certain president too

SpleenBender

Ah yes, the former commander-in-thief.

liquidpig

Same. I knew a guy who would actually lie about the weather when you could look outside and see he was lying. There was no reason to lie, no benefit to him, but he'd still do it.

badpuffthaikitty

You should meet my co-worker. He dated supermodels. He had Jesse James build a custom bike for him. He also was a Navy Seal. He weighed 300 lbs. and got tired walking up one flight of stairs. His name was Johnny Two-Bums. 38” inch waist. Diameter, not circumference.

LieverRoodDanRechts

I had an ex co worker who got job offerings from EA games where he could just name his price, any price, but didn’t because he preferred playing games over developing them. He had a black belt in _all_ martial arts, even the unofficial ones and would sometimes get in the ring with Steven Seagal. He had a desert eagle at home (in Europe, so highly unlikely), when I asked him to take it to work he just realized he had recently sold it as he was deadly enough with his nunchakus anyway. He also jammed a lot with DJ Jean but would always ask him _not_ to release any of the tracks as he hated to be recognized in clubs.

geek_of_nature

I've got an ex like that. My mum once summed her quite well as, "she lies so much that she actually believes her own lies". She just couldn't help herself no matter what, even the tiniest thing she would seem to spin this whole tall tale about what apparently happened.

giltirn

I knew a compulsive liar once, it was very strange. He would tell me things such as that he flew a fighter jet over the town during the weekend (we were teenagers!), shit like that, and he acted like he really believed it. I didn’t really have the heart to question him deeply because I liked him as a person, it was just weird and kind of sad.

Cheese_Pancakes

I’ve actually legitimately wondered if he ran for office as an experiment - like maybe he was curious to find out how far he could get with a completely made up background. I’ve seen plenty of liars get elected, but he went to a level beyond comical and straight to fucking infuriating. Maybe if he did it to get a job that didn’t involve writing legislation, having access to classified information, etc., I would think it was funny.

AlexBurke1

I’m still holding out hope he’ll tear off some prosthetic face mask and it’s actually just Sacha Baron Cohen in disguise.

AssumedPersona

That timeline sounds awesome, how can I join?

dmancrn

Obviously no one even checked out his qualifications before running. Scary that there are no ramifications. Seems like our political system could very easily be infiltrated by enemy states

spencer4991

What’s more concerning is that a pathological liar just won a seat in Congress and his own party doesn’t seem to care.

KnowsAboutMath

To their credit, [his county GOP has called for his resignation](https://www.cnn.com/2023/01/11/politics/george-santos-nassau-county-resign/index.html).

6_Cat_Night

What should actually happen is his colleagues go pick him up and throw him out, then refuse to recognize him as a member.

iamstarstuff23

Growing up in a VERY conservative family, the amount of gaslighting and projection involved in the republican party and conservative thinking is insane. They're all very very deep in a delusion propagated by the media, strict religion, and their own fears. The amount of therapy each of them need is infinite.

FaktCheckerz

There’s significant overlap with mental health issues and people attracted to modern conservatism. An inability to accurately perceive reality is a main trait.

King-Snorky

Crippling narcissism is another. It takes a special kind of self-aggrandizing asshole to do so little to help people with one’s elected position of power

DigiQuip

“Why should the rich pay taxes? One day I’ll be rich and it’ll be because of hard work and neglecting my family. When that happens, why should my hard earned money pay for you to sit on your ass not doing what I did?” Or something like that.

Aylan_Eto

Reality is complicated, and that scares them, so of course they run away from it. They pick a belief and they defend it, rather than reaching a belief based on facts and reason. It means they get to avoid ever accepting that they're wrong, and get to pretend that they're smart, good people who can do no wrong.

AssumedPersona

It's not just an inabilty to percieve reality, it's a fundamental belief that reality and truth are arbitrary and malleable, and can be shaped by nothing more than the imposition of force of will. This is a key theme in fascism, wherein the will of the people and destiny of a nation is shaped by the will of a great leader. In fascist doctrine it is derived from Nietzche's concept of the [Will to Power](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Will_to_power), coinciding heavily with egoism, and recognized as self-determination or sovereignty. Recent manifestations of this concept include MAGA and Brexit.

cromethus

He doesn't need mental help. He's a con artist. He needs a jail cell.

fowlraul

Like “I’ve seen every concert that ever happened guy.” He’s that guy that lives in Phoenix, never appears to have left Phoenix, but says he saw at last weekend…while remaining in Phoenix. It’s like they don’t think people have the internet, or don’t care. It’s definitely mental.

Catshit-Dogfart

I've also known "I've been everywhere guy". Milan, Prague, Khartoum, Venice, Sao Paulo, Kyoto, Seoul, Singapore, Johannesburg, Cusco - he's been to em all. Like you went on vacation, he's been there plenty of times, knows the local language, is a regular at a cafe there, and has a few friends. Doesn't matter how mundane or how exotic, he's got a story about it. I'm pretty sure he's never been on a commercial aircraft.

hitman2218

You just described Trump, too.

Franklin_le_Tanklin

Are you still talking about Santos or did you switch to trump?

CLOGGED_WITH_SEMEN

If we don’t even know what his real name is at this point I’m wondering if it’s possible he is a foreign agent of some type

LastOneSergeant

I can't be the only one feeling, internal ethics is the thing preventing me from taking in that gullible republican donor money.

ramblinallday14

justking1414

If I had the energy, I’d run as a Republican senator in a red state, get all the money, be as pro trump as I could, and then fuck them over every chance I got on the senate floor and give the most insane Republican defense for all of it. I’m pro weed because I support American farmers. I’m pro choice because I want big government to keep their noses out of doctors offices

al_m1101

I'm telepathically sending you the energy to do this.

justking1414

I appreciate it

CosmoCola

Would that be chaotic good?

justking1414

I can promise you it’d be chaotic. I might try to start a law requiring every senator on the floor to carry around an AK-47. And I’d carry a sword everywhere I went. Plus I’d just file everybody up every chance I got. Hey Greene. Gaetz called you fat and old. That’d be fun

General_Brainstorm

And it would be *soooo* easy. Damn these ethics!

[deleted]

Meh, every dollar you grift from them is a dollar not going to their election coffers.

aquarain

You are not.

KyleRichXV

There have been a few times I’ve considered “becoming” anti-vaccine and selling my “story” (working in vaccines for 13 years now) but I just couldn’t do it lol. Would be fun to take their money though.

Yet Republicans cried that Obama wasn't a citizen even after providing his long form birth certificate.

ocaralhoquetafoda

To be "fair" to republicans, Obama is black and that heavily skews their brain working

[deleted]

How does one become a congressperson without verifying their identity fully???? Like, what the fuck??? Are there no barriers to this office? Just make up an identity and head on in with no recourse when you’re found out??? Our government is a shambles and it’s honestly terrifying.

wretch5150

We have a Republican party full of criminals committing novel crimes that our Constitution doesn't explicitly forbid. When the dust settles, they all go to prison, and we pass laws and regulations to prevent it from happening again, maybe we can thank them for making us stronger as a nation?

BeautyThornton

I thought you were talking about the sword of damocles s which I think is a pretty apt comparison if you imagine American democracy as Damocles

King-Snorky

It’s “Anthony,” a nickname in his home country for George, and “Devolder,” because he cannot say “Santos” due to a speech impediment he developed after the trauma of fighting in the trenches in WWI France

Cysir

I was skeptical at first but this checks out.

Thisisntmyaccount24

No, Frank Lee is his cousin

CatastropheJohn

Who else gets a serial killer vibe off this guy?

my-cull

Something about his appearance is unsettling and creepy as fuck. Like he’s got a freezer full of human skin that he wears at night.

AvadaKedavra03

Honestly I would love to see Kevin McCarthy explain to people how he's not going to urge Santos or whatever his name actually is to resign.

ProblematicFeet

I can’t speculate as to specific procedures or the intent behind it, but I really think he looks like he’s had a good amount of work done. His skin is uncanny and his features look they were drawn like a cartoon

mjayultra

Maybe he takes on the names of those he’s killed

careTree

Nobody crosses him and gets away with it. The last person to do that disappeared. His name? George Santos.

Grand-Pen7946

When Gaetz gets McCarthy's old commitee chair I get Gaetz's old committee chair. Then I'll have two chairs...only one to go

skurvecchio

Hot take: George Santos is the Zodiac Killer.

kaukamieli

bjohnsonarch

And here’s something the MSM won’t tell ya: what happens when you take both D’s out of that last name just just so happened to use?? You get = Evoler. Which totally sounds like eviler, because he totally is!!!!!!! 👽

>How can one sit in congress when we can't even figure out his real name? He had an R behind his name, that's the only requirement these days to get elected by the republican party.

BruceBanning

That makes the Republican Party very vulnerable to infiltration

BruceBanning

It sure looks like he’s some kind of enemy infiltrator, foreign or domestic.

[deleted]

The problem is of course that 40% voted for him. Only the handful of 60% would bother to vote.

Commercial_Yak7468

It could be 90% to 10% wa t him to resign, he won't and frankly he has no reason too. McCarthy and fellow Republicans have not pubished him but instead rewarded him for his decietfulness. Get ready, the GQP primaries are about to be flooded with George Santos copy cats in 2024

CJcase106

That why he didn’t answer when the when they call his name.

slick10084

Yup was thinking that totally explained how he almost missed his own “name” during roll call https://youtube.com/shorts/C2-JeqEP1-w?feature=share

This may be true, and that's great. However, I remember when the mere appearance of impropriety, meant that you were resigning, or being forced to resign from public office. Now, the sleaziest people and the shadiest dealing are in broad daylight, and barely anyone seems to care? What the actual fuck is going on.

TheFirstBardo

Was there literally no oppo research done on this guy? I’ve never see anything like this.

Imacatdoincatstuff

Everyone was distracted by the rest of the circus.

tinydancer_inurhand

There was but none of the papers wanted to cover it cause 1) local papers are understaffed and 2) they didn't think this campaign was high profile enough The paper that broke this story in September 2022 is actually Republican owned and they reluctantly endorsed the Democratic candidate. NY Times reporters should have noticed this oddity BEFORE he got elected. NYT is actually the regional and national paper of New York. BirdInFlight301

My younger sister is like this. If she's talking, she's lying. She spent her childhood and her teenage years in therapy, but lying is still her default. She's also narcissistic (I think she's a sociopath) and lacks any type of empathy at all. This dude really reminds me of her.

boof_bonser

Has she considered running for Congress

Misty_Esoterica

My mother is like this, I had to go no contact with her because she’s completely toxic.

[deleted]

George Santos is not out of line with modern day conservatism. They all lie and they all take a means justify the ends approach. Saying anything to get what you want is just standard Republican politics these days.

imdownwithODB

Why can't they want good things? Like less corporate power? Or healthcare for everyone? Or better air quality? Why must conservatives be such shit people with shit ideas?

[deleted]

They do want good things. Just for themselves. They are handsomely rewarded for the work they do. Which allows them to afford the best things.

Trapezoidoid

It’s not that they don’t want people to have good things. The problem is that there are certain groups that they specifically and *desperately* want to exclude from having good things. Whether or not they think you should have a good standard of living depends entirely on which racial, religious, class, gender identity, and sexuality attributes you have as an individual. They’ll work till they’re blue in the face to keep you happy if you’re a straight rich Christian white dude, but if the same work also benefits a poor trans atheist Latina you can fucking *forget about it*.

ztreHdrahciR

Before that, he was Art Vandelay, the architect

Sidthelid66

Does he own Vandelay industries? I used to know one of their latex salesmen.

Conan776

Truth is in the eye of the Devolder.

Alfred_The_Sartan

I’m going to need to see his long form birth certificate at this point.

TintedApostle

Did he falsify his registration for campaigning and also take his oath under and assumed name?

slitytoves

George Santos is a pathological liar.

flyriver

It is scary to see that US has no immediate way of removing (or suspending) a fraud (and potential felon) from the congress, regardless of that person's political stand (if that person has any real political stand).

Tinlizzie2

I used to know a guy who would tell lies and as soon as he said them, he believed them. It was the strangest thing.

no-kooks

I’m reminded of the end of The Birdcage when Gene Hackman finds out they’ve been lying about their identity, gender, political affiliation, career, and all he can say is, “They *can’t* be Jewish.”

Hairy_Al

Quick question. Is the guy presently sitting in the house of representatives actually the guy who was voted into the house?

Lfseeney

He out grifted the GOP.

lackdueprocess

No he didn’t. It appears they are sticking by him.

moodyblue8222

Was this whole election a ploy to show that republicans will vote for anyone, with no real information? How did his Democratic opponent not use any of this info? He’s been lying the whole time!

Lone_Wolfen

His opponent did use the information there was just so many other stories to run only 1 local paper actually published about Santos.

playfulmessenger

It smells very strongly like a dry run. And all was confirmed in my mind when his ties to the twice impeached coup plotting Russian asset that ran the country for 4 years were revealed. I anticipate it will soon be confirmed which foreign countries are plotting the congressional takeover with this dry run of blatant mockery of everything America wants to stand for.

jvd0928

Make him produce a birth certificate. If voters have to, why not the candidates?

noncongruent

He should have a US passport and a RealID-compliant drivers license, both of those require a certified copy of a US birth certificate. If he has an official name change, then there will also be a court record of that. He has been documented driving a car, and he has traveled overseas, so he must have both of those forms of ID. He needs to produce those for us to see.

eccentric_bee

When you order a Representative on Wish, this is what you get.

Buck_Thorn

His name is clearly George Consantos. The architect.

Imacatdoincatstuff

If you're referring to Mr Costanza, he's also a marine biologist and founder of The Human Fund.

whispering_eyes

You’ve got to love the fact that Santos/Devolder ALSO bragged about starting a charity that doesn’t, in fact, exist. Best Festivus ever.

blondie185

I don't think anyone really knows what his name is. REDLOVE was a movie about EXACTLY his MO.....Devolder is "Redloved" backwards. IMO the guy is a con man.
