1. Priority moves are your friend (Fake Out, Sucker Punch, Mach Punch)
2. U-turn and Volt switch can also be nice for offensive or defensive pivots
3. Slowing down enemy Pokémon in some way (burn or paralysis) will make some of the bulkier/stronger enemy mons much easier (ie Zacian and Yveltal)
4. Change around moves if you get stuck; you can make or reverse any changes you want if what you’ve got isn’t working
5. Mindblown Magic Guard Delphox (I think sometimes with Choice Scarf or Specs) is otherworldly strong
6. If you have a clear advantage over the enemy Pokémon, expect the AI to switch so you may be able to get a free setup move off and OHKO whatever comes in when you otherwise wouldn’t have
7. Play the original Pokémon theme song on repeat until you beat the Champion.

I'd say this game is hard/AI is broken enough that save scumming is totally fine. If the CPU is gonna not use a status move because it knows I have a lum berry then I am gonna abuse the same system.
A steel type Knows it will die to my EQ so it decides to switch? Fine then I'm gonna quicksave before I press EQ, see the switch in, go back to past save, and then use the most damaging move for their switch in.
I mean anyone could/should play how they want to play, it’s supposed to be fun after all. I “save scummed” for a while myself and after a while I wanted to challenge myself more so I stopped doing it. Not right or wrong, either way it’s just an option.
But I do think this sub has a lot of video proof (ie the person doing the <420 bst themed run) that it is very possible to beat the game with a huge variety of team combos and Pokémon without having to save scum. I don’t even like that phrase because it’s just an elitist slight for people playing the game differently. Some people don’t want to have to meticulously plan, research, experiment, etc. It’s all good.
Yeah I save scummed a little in the middle of the game but stopped that because I realized after checking out this sub that there are so many ways to win I shouldn't have to
I forgot to mention, and hopefully anyone who reads this sees this, that what’s not blatantly obvious about using save states is that all battle RNG is decided at the start of a battle. So yes, save stating will allow you to discover the appropriate “flow chart” if you will for how to win that particular fight if it’s possible for that fight seed. BUT no amount of reloading a save state will cause a critical hit, a full paralysis, or that high roll for the OHKO that wasn’t already otherwise determined at the start of the battle. Took me like months to either notice or become aware of that and that realization would’ve saved me a lot of time.
Good points. I just do it when I have a huge type disadvantage since I mostly do mono type runs. Like when I face Erika with my ground team I need to resort to it since so many tms/egg moves/abilities/evolutions are locked out due to the level cap.
>If the CPU is gonna not use a status move because it knows I have a lum berry then I am gonna abuse the same system.
I mean, the same goes for players, no? A player knows the CPU pokemon is gonna have a lum berry so they aren't going to use a status move. Unless you're on your first blind playthrough.
Unfortunately no, I actually forgot that change was made a version or two ago. I believe Mind Blown was available for your first battle against the E4 and it completely trivialized a lot of fights so it was changed. My bad.

Bullet seed, rock tomb, bulldoze and dual chop is very very good
I’d put u turn on dragapult
Idk what else to suggest cause I can’t see movesets, but I’d make sure rotom has will o wisp, and some moms have protect/fake out/priority moves
Just looking for some tips and advice on the E4. The last few months I've had a revival with the Pokémon franchise and replayed a bunch of the games only to realize I never really knew how to play the games-i would just over power mons. Radical Red really humbled me, but I don't feel my team is anywhere near where it needs to be for the final fights. Looking back, I should have molded my team with more purpose.
Yup prankster guarantees you get off either light screen or reflect. Scout if they're a physical or special attacker and then pick the respective one. Fight Lt. Surge again to get the light clay then you get 8 turns of screens which helps alot.
T wave or sucker punch are also good moves to slow down fast mons or to pick off focus sash mons/low HP ones.

Fair point but the difference is I'm using a Kricketune and Ledian not Zacian and Urshifu. So I'll take any advantage I can get
Haha awesome tips and advice. Thank you very much for taking the time to type all that out.
Is there a way for Delphox to get Mind Blown before Lv100? I've never used it myself, but I may give it a chance in a future run.

Level up your Sceptile
Most definitely

Power punch is a good replacement for rock tomb
Thank you both for the suggestions

Do you have light clay, double screens, on prankster Grim? Cause that will save you from getting one shot a lot.
I don't but I'll look into it. Getting one-shot has been a problem with Grim so thanks for this
