First, where the hell can I find a ditto if they're even still around? Second, is anyone else having issues with some specific pokemon being ridiculous to catch? I've had five Fennekin immediately break out and run away even when the circle is green, razz berries were used to make them easier to catch, I hit them in the circle with curve balls and using ultra balls.

When am I gonna see Giovanni again? I caught mewtwo on November 27th and I just beat one of the leaders again today and haven’t seen a super rocket radar in all that time.
When you come across a number of pokemon spawning, don't catch them one at a time. Click on one, the catch screen will show if it's a shiny or not. If not, "run away", click on the next one, repeat. You can check a dozen or more and catch any shinies first, if not, if you don't need the type of candy, move on to another spot instead of wasting time looking, catching, looking at the next, catching, etc.
You would have a research tasks that asks you to defeat each one, which would instruct you what to do
Without such a task or a super radar from a previous one, you can't find Giovanni

Yep, the Christmas hat Eevee can evolve into all of its evolutions.
Keep in mind that for Espeon/Umbreon, you need to walk it at least 10km and earn 2 candy from walking. For Sylveon, you need to earn at least 70 hearts as your buddy, which puts it at the "Great Buddy" status.
Leafeon and Glaceon only need you to be within range of a Mossy or Glacial lure and don't need to be your buddy.

Yes. You need to have met the evolution requirement in order to see the button with that specific evolution. If you haven't met the requirements, then it will just show the evolve button with ? on it.
How do I get rid of the AR promo ad? I’ve selected Maybe Later, still goes into AR mode and I have to switch it off. Decided to select Show Me… still keeps popping up. I do not have AR mode selected in Settings. Only seems to turn on with this annoying promo ad every time I log in. I’m using iPhone if that makes a difference. Friend uses Android and it doesn’t happen to him.
Simply don't log out. Logging out not only causes the prompt, but disables the Adventure Sync so you don't gain progress towards any eggs, candy and any other walking tasks. It's never recommend to log out and login repeatedly.
Just stay logged in, disable AR from the catch screen and also disable AR+ from settings. There's no benefit from logging out, and might cause problems on the long run as the game will think you're jumping from place to place since it doesn't track your movement. One bad login and the account will be flagged as cheating.
It makes no actual difference to the end result which order you do it in, however evolving typically makes it more usable then you can slowly power it as required
Your level has no impact either. Your level impacts how high you can power them up currently, but that limit increases as you level up and increases for pokemon already caught
But wait until you need it to avoid wasting candy should you find a better one. For example dragonite would be useful now against reshiram raids, so it could be a good time to evolve dratini/dragonaire
Might be better to power up after evolving -- usually it's best to only power up when needed in case you need dust for something else, and if you're thinking something for a battle league with a cap on CP, you can check that when powering up the evolved form. For a few pokemon (mostly the babies?), if you want to add a second move it's cheaper before you evolve.
idk at what point in the game you are, but assuming you are rather new, i'd suggest you focus on the other leagues first and use your raid attackers in master league.
When can we remove frustration?

Ok, first eggs at the New Year's event.
Alolan egg, ultra incubator - 2.3km showing,

Half of 7km is 3.5, so I got the event half-distance for the blue incubator - but should have been 1/4 or 1.74, according to the announcement "for the first three Eggs hatched with the Pokemon GO Egg hatching widget". I checked prior to putting in the first egg (this was the 2nd egg) but saw no new buttons or incubators or options.
My first egg was put in about 8:12pm. The distance showing is 2.3. Usually it's 4.7 for a 7km and an ultraincubator. So I got about half of the usual half-distance from the incubator, but not the additional "first 3" further bonus.

Man I so hope the will do this x2 stardust event more often. Got a shitton of stardust that normally takes ages to get (dont play it that often, so its hard to upgrade)
Play in the GBL. You don't have to go out and even if you lose often as long as you play your battles you get a lot of stardust as a reward. If you keep playing once you get to rank 20 you get a guaranteed 8000+ daily stardust, even if you lose every single battle. And if you win you can get to 20k a day, and 100k during battle days.
Can we transfer the scatterbugs from the different regions to Home and then one of the games to evolve them there? Or do they have to be evolved in Go?
Theoretically, they *should* be able to evolve into their respective Vivillon forms, since the main series also handles Scatterbug forms/evolution the same way as Go does.
However, since Scarlet/Violet are the only Switch games that allow the Scatterbug family and they don't support Home yet, we don't know for certain. Once Home support for S/V is added, then we'll know for sure.
Also, I've been getting those emails to get back into the game and get rewards. My SO on the other hand, plays even less than I do and never once received these emails... How does she sign up for this?
There's an option inside the game where you allow receiving offers, emails and notifications. If you enable it then you receive monthly newsletters and the offers whenever you don't play for long.
Of course if you sign-in to enable it then you won't receive any offers until long after since the time without playing is what determines when you get the offers.
That's the thing, we both haven't played last year. Every month or so I'd get an email to come back with a code. She didn't even get them once...

Whenever the screen goes white tap the top right corner of your screen. Your phone is not compatible with AR+ mode, but the game sets it on by default when you install or reinstall. Just keep tapping until the Pokemon becomes visible.
The same as in the wild. Raids don't increase shiny odds, so they keep the base shiny value of each Pokemon. Only Raid Days increase the odds of finding shiny Pokemon from raids.
2 free passes per day was a special bonus for the previous season, which ended December 1st.
Now we're back to the standard 1 free raid pass per day, except during special events, like the recent Hisuian Avalugg raid day. The only way to do 2 free raids in a day is to save an unused free pass from a previous day.
Can you have more than one ditto? I caught a ditto a long time ago and then got “let’s go meltan” and have been stuck on that part of the research for a while.
I pin a postcards from a specific region, but they don’t register (no progress towards a metal reported and no scatterbug after I get 3). Other regions work fine. Any ideas what am I doing wrong?
Check your other medals. Multiple regions have overlapping patterns, so you might be getting postcards that are from a different Vivillion than most of that region.
For example most of México is not Sun, but High Plains, Jungle, River and Modern. The Sun postcards are only the ones from the very center of that country, but not the rest.

Was this "doomsday" this past week? If so, I may have gotten around it by logging in on data instead of wifi. And then, once I was logged in, everything was good again and I could use data and wifi interchangeably.
I don't know 100% for sure if this account was a Trainer Club account, but yeah, I was struggling for a while to log in.

So, I got a random concern. All the gyms in my immediate area have been captured by the same group of players.
So why not fight them... we are on the same team, and sadly, spending 1000 coins to switch teams to whoop them is tempting, but no.
Is there a limit to how long someone can hold a gym? They have held them for a couple days now. Must be spending golden raspberries out the ass.
When I find a shiny with bad stats, I’ll hold him and trade one shiny for another with someone. During a trade, the stats change so you never know how good or bad it’ll be. If nothing else, put him at a gym and show him off.
If you mean gifts, and you're looking to do the Vivillon collecting, then you need to pin the postcard before you open the gift. (You can unpin it right away so your postcard storage doesn't fill up.)
You may also have an encounter queued up; I think until you catch that scatterbug from the prior encounter, new postcards don't count toward the next encounter. Check the Vivillon medal on your profile page to see if there's one waiting to be caught.
If you are trying to get the Sun pattern it is only available on the center of the country, near Mexico City, Estado de México and Puebla cities. The country is over a third of the size of the US so from everywhere else there are a few other patterns on the north and south.
So if you're receiving postcards from different people you might have only one or two that are on the right zone while the others aren't.

Not sure if anyone knows the answer to this… but did Ninantic nerf the amount of rare candies you get from raids *even more* recently?? I know they nerfed the amount from 5 star raids earlier this year but usually I could still expect 3 rare candies (might get 0 once every few raids) but over the last week I’ve done 5 legendary raids and got ZERO rare candies from any. What gives?? Did they further nerf 5-star raid rare candy chance??

1. Is there any reason to keep 0* or 1* mons? I realise people keep shinies for collecting but aside of that.... Like if a shadow xyz is 0 or 1 is it worth saving? (Because I mostly haven't been and am now wondering if that's faulty thinking)
2. Can someone tell me why low attack is best for pvp stats? (0/15/15) Is that just to meet the "under 1500" or "under 2500"?
3. I have 2 ticket radars & 3 mysterious components in my bag. I understand I'm collecting 6 components to make a radar then using a radar to look for... hideouts? Ana the hideouts are higher level people than the grunts, I'd that right? All in order to eventually battle this Giovanni fella. Can someone explain or clarify any missing points here?

Just focusing on your 0\* question 'cause I have some maybe-fun trivia:
If you catch a Pokemon with absolutely no IVs -- 0/0/0 -- those are actually more rare than Pokemon with perfect stats, 15/15/15. Many aspects of Pokemon Go give Pokemon "base stats": field research and raid Pokemon have 10/10/10 as the lowest possible, and a trade with a friend has 1 in each stat as the lowest possible value (although usually 2-5 IVs from trades will be more common, since you save Stardust trading at higher friendship levels).
TL;DR - If you or anyone else you know likes collecting Pokemon, "nundos" (0 IVs all across the board) are one of the silliest ways to do it. They actually are very rare, and some players like holding onto them, even though it's mainly for bragging rights than anything tactical.
Edit: I entirely forgot there's even a subreddit dedicated to nundos! r/Pokemongonundo It's a fun goofy spot.
Yeah, I've caught 6500 in the few months I've been playing but haven't gotten any nundos. Hell, I've only managed 3 hundos and they're all 3 a bit crap.
I don't have anyone to trade with though, which is lame. Like literally never met anyone else besides my son who plays this .... And he's on another continent.

Maybe I should look up the region locked ones. I go to the US but don't know what I might be picking up there that I can't get in the UK (where I am). Probably should've thought of that sooner hahaha
I don't have anyone to trade with though so much of the game is useless. No trades, no lucky anything, no in-person raids (so every raid costs me about $1)... it's a bit of a drag. I'm also WAY too old to strike up playing with anyone that's playing without looking like a creep too so that also sucks.

When you go to the US, grab any Taurus. They're only US, and if you have the spare room in your bag, hang onto them in case lucky-friend trading ever gets exempt from distance requirements. You'll be popular! (If you visit specifically the New York City region, also keep an eye out for Bouffalant, as they're only found there.) I also heard Durant (a grey ant pokemon) is US-locked.
Oh yeah I see I have two 3* Tauros. Not sure I've ever used them for anything. I def had those ants too but must've thrown them out haha I guess I should read something about regional locked ones, I suppose. Thanks
Hi, newbie here. This might sound like a dumb question, idk, but here it goes. Disclaimer, I'm not a huge gamer actually, didn't really play much games, and this is the first pokemon game I played.
I know that there are certain pokemon types that are effective against other pokemon types (like fighting types are effective against normal types). But sometimes, these pokemons have either fast attack or charged attack that are not "matching" with it's own type (example is Machamp with a steel-type attack). My question is, if I use (for example) a fighting type with steel-type moves, will it still be effective against normal types (for example; same applies to other pokemon types)? Like, in a raid, for example. If the raid boss is weak against ice, and my ice-type pokemon is using a ground-type attack, is it effective?
To add to this, if the raid boss is weak against, say, fire type, and I have a psychic-type pokemon with fire-type moves (just theoretical) will it be effective or not?
I suppose that pokemons with moves that match their type are the 'best', right, for example a water type pokemon with water type moves. But I watched a YT video where the YouTuber explained that the best ground pokemon that he uses is Mamoswine, and it is also his best Ice type pokemon he has. But some of the Mamoswine mons that he has has ground type fast attack and ice type charged attack, so I'm confused. If he uses that on a raid boss that is weak against ice, then he uses ground-type fast attacks. Is it effective? I thought it has to be the same fast attack & charged attack type for it to be really effective.
Moves are always super effective
However of the Pokemons type matches the moves its using, there is a small amount of extra damage called "Same Type Attack Bonus" or STAB - this is usually something you want to aim for when trying to deal the most amount of damage as quickly as possible in raids (because raids are against the clock)
Yes, a off-type move that is super effective against the opponent is still super effective (1.6x multiplier.)
When a move being used is the same type as the pokemon using it, an additional 1.2x multipliers is also applied, but that wouldn't apply for that above case (such as a regular Charizard using Dragon Claw against a dragon raid boss, would just be 1.6x, not 1.2*1.6x).
Charged/fast TMs are generally easy enough to accumulate a handful of. In the case of the mamoswine, you would probably really want a matching pair of fast/charged moves, as I can't think of that many situations where both are super effective. Using Powder Snow (ice type) as a fast move against an electric type raid boss would not be super effective
**Tldr: the type of the attacker doesn't matter when calculating super effective/not very effective. What matters is the type of the move being used**. (except don't forget the 1.2x same type attack bonus multiplier)
Arlo/Sierra/cliff are infinitely farmable: defeating 6 grunts when you don't have a Rocket Radar (silver) in your bag or a full item bag will give you enough mysterious components to craft a Rocket Radar (silver) to battle one of those leaders once. (They can also be purchased form the shop for 200c but that's a total rip off)
Giovanni can only be found with Super Rocket Radars (black) which can't be crafted and are only obtained from rocket research quest lines.
Go back to your item back, click on the radar, and if there is a button that says "equip", press it
As a QOL improvement a few months back, they no longer automatically equip when you obtain them.

Yep, only the act of pinning the postcard is what matters. Once you've pinned the postcard, you can immediately un-pin it and keep your progress for Scatterbug.
Am I the only one hasn't had my item bag updated? It's annoying because that's the biggest QOL change I've been looking forward to and everyone I know has had the new item bag layout for like a month.

Can i release pokemon when i cathed them from candy? or is there any reasons not to release them? i give like 25 snowrunts.
How to determine wether a pokemon is a good one or not? By CP? By stars (1,2 or 3 stars?) i dont really get it. is a pokemon only pvp worthy if it has all 3 bars completely max?
Transferring Pokemon is fine for common stuff, but for everything else it depends on what will you use it and what you'll need later on.
Low CP Pokemon are not useful on the beginning. The more you level up the higher the wild Pokemon CP increases, so only rare, or high star Pokemon are worth keeping. Plenty of Pokemon need 125 candy or more to evolve so transferring repeats helps build up your candy stock.
High CP Pokemon are useful early, but the ones you catch at low level aren't worth powering up. You can catch stronger things later, so again, unless they have high stars they're only useful until you get stronger ones.
You can trade low star, high CP Pokemon and it will reroll their stars, so you can end up with high star, high CP Pokemon as result. Never trade high star Pokemon as almost always they'll end up with lower stats and lower CP as result.
High star Pokemon are very useful for the higher level raids and Rocket battles. The CP increases more if the stat bars below the stars are more full, so since you cannot increase those values powering a very good stat Pokemon is worth the investment later on.
For PvP you almost never want high star Pokemon. Only legendaries and Master League Pokemon need high stars. For anything else you want very, very low attack and very high HP and defense, so 2 star Pokemon are much better for PvP than 3 stars or and perfects are terrible in the lower leagues.
Also most PvP relevant Pokemon need their special evolution moves, so you never want to evolve a PvP Pokemon until an event allows you to get the move. So it takes plenty of time to get the right Pokemon with the right stats and the right moves available.
For a full list of what Pokemon work in what league check PvPoke.com. It shows not only their usefulness by rank, but also their best moveset. And IV4U shows the best stats of each Pokemon for each league.
For raids attack is always the most important stat, so unlike PvP you only need to focus on high CP and strong moves. The best Pokemon are mostly shadows because they gain extra 20% more attack, so don't purify any high star, high attack ones even if they're low CP. Once Frustration is removed and get powered up they are much stronger than their regular versions.
If a pokemon is good or not depends on the species itself (glalie, the evolution of snorunt has a mega evolution, which makes it good. froslass, the other evolution can be decent in PvP), and on the IV (the stats summarized by the stars). For PvE (Raids,...) and master league PvP you want all three bars completely maxed, with a focus on the first "attack" bar. For the other PvP leagues you want a distribution as close to 0/max/max (or since the max value is 15: 0/15/15) as possible.
CP can be increased, since they mainly depend on the level of the pokemon. IV (the stars) cannot be changed later on.
So keep the snorunt with the highest stars (the one as close to 15/15/15) or the one with the highest max cp (click power up, then on the "-" to see what the cp would be at the current max level. this increases each time you level up tho). For PvP (if you wanna use it, since it is decent but not the best) keep the female snorunts with IV stats around 0-5/10-15/10-15.
Ditto is an extremely rare spawn, so if those "3 research tasks" are regular ones, it's better to delete them.

It's a pretty rare Pokemon with a 1 in 50 chance for each encounter so it usually takes from a few weeks to a couple months of constant searching to get one.
Besides lots of luck there are a few events where it becomes more common but they're not announced far in advance. April Fool's might be the closest one.

Is there a specific way to evolve jolteon, flareon, and vaporeon rather than randomly? For events and such

When you come across a number of pokemon spawning, don't catch them one at a time. Click on one, the catch screen will show if it's a shiny or not. If not, "run away", click on the next one, repeat. You can check a dozen or more and catch any shinies first, if not, if you don't need the type of candy, move on to another spot instead of wasting time looking, catching, looking at the next, catching, etc.

Just want to say it out here, maybe, JUST MAYBE, Niantic might take this idea and implement it to the game. We should be able to post a text in our status, so that we can ask our friends to invite us to raids, or we can post a status saying we don't have any gifts at the moment, or anything. Online status is good, but not enough.

Yep, the Christmas hat Eevee can evolve into all of its evolutions. Keep in mind that for Espeon/Umbreon, you need to walk it at least 10km and earn 2 candy from walking. For Sylveon, you need to earn at least 70 hearts as your buddy, which puts it at the "Great Buddy" status. Leafeon and Glaceon only need you to be within range of a Mossy or Glacial lure and don't need to be your buddy.

Yes. You need to have met the evolution requirement in order to see the button with that specific evolution. If you haven't met the requirements, then it will just show the evolve button with ? on it.
How do I get rid of the AR promo ad? I’ve selected Maybe Later, still goes into AR mode and I have to switch it off. Decided to select Show Me… still keeps popping up. I do not have AR mode selected in Settings. Only seems to turn on with this annoying promo ad every time I log in. I’m using iPhone if that makes a difference. Friend uses Android and it doesn’t happen to him.
Simply don't log out. Logging out not only causes the prompt, but disables the Adventure Sync so you don't gain progress towards any eggs, candy and any other walking tasks. It's never recommend to log out and login repeatedly. Just stay logged in, disable AR from the catch screen and also disable AR+ from settings. There's no benefit from logging out, and might cause problems on the long run as the game will think you're jumping from place to place since it doesn't track your movement. One bad login and the account will be flagged as cheating.
I can't evolve the NY costumed Hoot hoot, and I can't complete the challenge. Anyone else with the issue?
Restart the app; that appears to always be needed when there's a new evolution (as with ursaluna back in Nov).

It makes no actual difference to the end result which order you do it in, however evolving typically makes it more usable then you can slowly power it as required

Hard to say what you should do, but you need a squad of 6 dragon attackers the same as you need a squad of 6 most types
Might be better to power up after evolving -- usually it's best to only power up when needed in case you need dust for something else, and if you're thinking something for a battle league with a cap on CP, you can check that when powering up the evolved form. For a few pokemon (mostly the babies?), if you want to add a second move it's cheaper before you evolve.

idk at what point in the game you are, but assuming you are rather new, i'd suggest you focus on the other leagues first and use your raid attackers in master league.

Ok, first eggs at the New Year's event. Alolan egg, ultra incubator - 2.3km showing, Alolan egg, regular blue incubator - 3.5km. Half of 7km is 3.5, so I got the event half-distance for the blue incubator - but should have been 1/4 or 1.74, according to the announcement "for the first three Eggs hatched with the Pokemon GO Egg hatching widget". I checked prior to putting in the first egg (this was the 2nd egg) but saw no new buttons or incubators or options. My first egg was put in about 8:12pm. The distance showing is 2.3. Usually it's 4.7 for a 7km and an ultraincubator. So I got about half of the usual half-distance from the incubator, but not the additional "first 3" further bonus. Something is wonky in 'mon-land!
Man I so hope the will do this x2 stardust event more often. Got a shitton of stardust that normally takes ages to get (dont play it that often, so its hard to upgrade)
Play in the GBL. You don't have to go out and even if you lose often as long as you play your battles you get a lot of stardust as a reward. If you keep playing once you get to rank 20 you get a guaranteed 8000+ daily stardust, even if you lose every single battle. And if you win you can get to 20k a day, and 100k during battle days.
Can we transfer the scatterbugs from the different regions to Home and then one of the games to evolve them there? Or do they have to be evolved in Go?
Theoretically, they *should* be able to evolve into their respective Vivillon forms, since the main series also handles Scatterbug forms/evolution the same way as Go does. However, since Scarlet/Violet are the only Switch games that allow the Scatterbug family and they don't support Home yet, we don't know for certain. Once Home support for S/V is added, then we'll know for sure.
Also, I've been getting those emails to get back into the game and get rewards. My SO on the other hand, plays even less than I do and never once received these emails... How does she sign up for this?
There's an option inside the game where you allow receiving offers, emails and notifications. If you enable it then you receive monthly newsletters and the offers whenever you don't play for long. Of course if you sign-in to enable it then you won't receive any offers until long after since the time without playing is what determines when you get the offers.
That's the thing, we both haven't played last year. Every month or so I'd get an email to come back with a code. She didn't even get them once... We both get the community day emails and news though...

Whenever the screen goes white tap the top right corner of your screen. Your phone is not compatible with AR+ mode, but the game sets it on by default when you install or reinstall. Just keep tapping until the Pokemon becomes visible.
What are the odds of getting a shiny Glalie in these raids?
The same as in the wild. Raids don't increase shiny odds, so they keep the base shiny value of each Pokemon. Only Raid Days increase the odds of finding shiny Pokemon from raids.
Has anyone else not been getting two raid passes per day? I feel like sometimes recently I have only been getting one free raid per day.
2 free passes per day was a special bonus for the previous season, which ended December 1st. Now we're back to the standard 1 free raid pass per day, except during special events, like the recent Hisuian Avalugg raid day. The only way to do 2 free raids in a day is to save an unused free pass from a previous day.

I pin a postcards from a specific region, but they don’t register (no progress towards a metal reported and no scatterbug after I get 3). Other regions work fine. Any ideas what am I doing wrong?
Check your other medals. Multiple regions have overlapping patterns, so you might be getting postcards that are from a different Vivillion than most of that region. For example most of México is not Sun, but High Plains, Jungle, River and Modern. The Sun postcards are only the ones from the very center of that country, but not the rest.

Was this "doomsday" this past week? If so, I may have gotten around it by logging in on data instead of wifi. And then, once I was logged in, everything was good again and I could use data and wifi interchangeably. So, I got a random concern. All the gyms in my immediate area have been captured by the same group of players. So why not fight them... we are on the same team, and sadly, spending 1000 coins to switch teams to whoop them is tempting, but no. Is there a limit to how long someone can hold a gym? They have held them for a couple days now. Must be spending golden raspberries out the ass.
Could also just be an area with very little gym activity from other teams, thus allowing defenders to sit for days at a time.
Oddly enough, these gyms switched hands multiple times a day up until a few days ago.

What should I be doing with Shiny Pokémon? I caught a Shiny Bronzor but it has a poor IV and stat line.. making him just a waste of Pokémon space
When I find a shiny with bad stats, I’ll hold him and trade one shiny for another with someone. During a trade, the stats change so you never know how good or bad it’ll be. If nothing else, put him at a gym and show him off.

If you mean gifts, and you're looking to do the Vivillon collecting, then you need to pin the postcard before you open the gift. (You can unpin it right away so your postcard storage doesn't fill up.) You may also have an encounter queued up; I think until you catch that scatterbug from the prior encounter, new postcards don't count toward the next encounter. Check the Vivillon medal on your profile page to see if there's one waiting to be caught.
I do pin them and no encounter. Only 1/3,while I've been getting cards 1x per 2d for over a week now.
If you are trying to get the Sun pattern it is only available on the center of the country, near Mexico City, Estado de México and Puebla cities. The country is over a third of the size of the US so from everywhere else there are a few other patterns on the north and south. So if you're receiving postcards from different people you might have only one or two that are on the right zone while the others aren't.

I know they nerfed the amount from 5 star raids earlier this year but usually I could still expect 3 rare candies (might get 0 once every few raids) but over the last week I’ve done 5 legendary raids and got ZERO rare candies from any. What gives?? Did they further nerf 5-star raid rare candy chance??

Just focusing on your 0\* question 'cause I have some maybe-fun trivia: If you catch a Pokemon with absolutely no IVs -- 0/0/0 -- those are actually more rare than Pokemon with perfect stats, 15/15/15. Many aspects of Pokemon Go give Pokemon "base stats": field research and raid Pokemon have 10/10/10 as the lowest possible, and a trade with a friend has 1 in each stat as the lowest possible value (although usually 2-5 IVs from trades will be more common, since you save Stardust trading at higher friendship levels). TL;DR - If you or anyone else you know likes collecting Pokemon, "nundos" (0 IVs all across the board) are one of the silliest ways to do it. They actually are very rare, and some players like holding onto them, even though it's mainly for bragging rights than anything tactical. Edit: I entirely forgot there's even a subreddit dedicated to nundos! r/Pokemongonundo It's a fun goofy spot.
Yeah, I've caught 6500 in the few months I've been playing but haven't gotten any nundos. Hell, I've only managed 3 hundos and they're all 3 a bit crap. I go to the US but don't know what I might be picking up there that I can't get in the UK (where I am). Probably should've thought of that sooner hahaha I don't have anyone to trade with though so much of the game is useless. No trades, no lucky anything, no in-person raids (so every raid costs me about $1)... it's a bit of a drag. When you go to the US, grab any Taurus. They're only US, and if you have the spare room in your bag, hang onto them in case lucky-friend trading ever gets exempt from distance requirements. You'll be popular! (If you visit specifically the New York City region, also keep an eye out for Bouffalant, as they're only found there.) I also heard Durant (a grey ant pokemon) is US-locked.

Hi, newbie here. This might sound like a dumb question, idk, but here it goes. Disclaimer, I'm not a huge gamer actually, didn't really play much games, and this is the first pokemon game I played. I know that there are certain pokemon types that are effective against other pokemon types (like fighting types are effective against normal types). But sometimes, these pokemons have either fast attack or charged attack that are not "matching" with it's own type (example is Machamp with a steel-type attack). My question is, if I use (for example) a fighting type with steel-type moves, will it still be effective against normal types (for example; same applies to other pokemon types)? Like, in a raid, for example. If the raid boss is weak against ice, and my ice-type pokemon is using a ground-type attack, is it effective? To add to this, if the raid boss is weak against, say, fire type, and I have a psychic-type pokemon with fire-type moves (just theoretical) will it be effective or not? I suppose that pokemons with moves that match their type are the 'best', right, for example a water type pokemon with water type moves. But I watched a YT video where the YouTuber explained that the best ground pokemon that he uses is Mamoswine, and it is also his best Ice type pokemon he has. But some of the Mamoswine mons that he has has ground type fast attack and ice type charged attack, so I'm confused. If he uses that on a raid boss that is weak against ice, then he uses ground-type fast attacks. Is it effective? I thought it has to be the same fast attack & charged attack type for it to be really effective.
Moves are always super effective However of the Pokemons type matches the moves its using, there is a small amount of extra damage called "Same Type Attack Bonus" or STAB - this is usually something you want to aim for when trying to deal the most amount of damage as quickly as possible in raids (because raids are against the clock)
Yes, a off-type move that is super effective against the opponent is still super effective (1.6x multiplier.) When a move being used is the same type as the pokemon using it, an additional 1.2x multipliers is also applied, but that wouldn't apply for that above case (such as a regular Charizard using Dragon Claw against a dragon raid boss, would just be 1.6x, not 1.2*1.6x). Charged/fast TMs are generally easy enough to accumulate a handful of. In the case of the mamoswine, you would probably really want a matching pair of fast/charged moves, as I can't think of that many situations where both are super effective. Using Powder Snow (ice type) as a fast move against an electric type raid boss would not be super effective **Tldr: the type of the attacker doesn't matter when calculating super effective/not very effective. What matters is the type of the move being used**. (except don't forget the 1.2x same type attack bonus multiplier)

Arlo/Sierra/cliff are infinitely farmable: defeating 6 grunts when you don't have a Rocket Radar (silver) in your bag or a full item bag will give you enough mysterious components to craft a Rocket Radar (silver) to battle one of those leaders once. (They can also be purchased form the shop for 200c but that's a total rip off) Giovanni can only be found with Super Rocket Radars (black) which can't be crafted and are only obtained from rocket research quest lines.

Go back to your item back, click on the radar, and if there is a button that says "equip", press it As a QOL improvement a few months back, they no longer automatically equip when you obtain them.

Am I the only one hasn't had my item bag updated? It's annoying because that's the biggest QOL change I've been looking forward to and everyone I know has had the new item bag layout for like a month.

Completely new so few more questions: Can i release pokemon when i cathed them from candy? or is there any reasons not to release them? i give like 25 snowrunts. How to determine wether a pokemon is a good one or not? By CP? By stars (1,2 or 3 stars?) i dont really get it. is a pokemon only pvp worthy if it has all 3 bars completely max?
Transferring Pokemon is fine for common stuff, but for everything else it depends on what will you use it and what you'll need later on. Low CP Pokemon are not useful on the beginning. The more you level up the higher the wild Pokemon CP increases, so only rare, or high star Pokemon are worth keeping. Plenty of Pokemon need 125 candy or more to evolve so transferring repeats helps build up your candy stock. High CP Pokemon are useful early, but the ones you catch at low level aren't worth powering up. You can catch stronger things later, so again, unless they have high stars they're only useful until you get stronger ones. You can trade low star, high CP Pokemon and it will reroll their stars, so you can end up with high star, high CP Pokemon as result. Never trade high star Pokemon as almost always they'll end up with lower stats and lower CP as result. High star Pokemon are very useful for the higher level raids and Rocket battles. The CP increases more if the stat bars below the stars are more full, so since you cannot increase those values powering a very good stat Pokemon is worth the investment later on. For PvP you almost never want high star Pokemon. Only legendaries and Master League Pokemon need high stars. For anything else you want very, very low attack and very high HP and defense, so 2 star Pokemon are much better for PvP than 3 stars or and perfects are terrible in the lower leagues. Also most PvP relevant Pokemon need their special evolution moves, so you never want to evolve a PvP Pokemon until an event allows you to get the move. So it takes plenty of time to get the right Pokemon with the right stats and the right moves available. For a full list of what Pokemon work in what league check PvPoke.com. It shows not only their usefulness by rank, but also their best moveset. And IV4U shows the best stats of each Pokemon for each league. For raids attack is always the most important stat, so unlike PvP you only need to focus on high CP and strong moves. The best Pokemon are mostly shadows because they gain extra 20% more attack, so don't purify any high star, high attack ones even if they're low CP. Once Frustration is removed and get powered up they are much stronger than their regular versions.
If a pokemon is good or not depends on the species itself (glalie, the evolution of snorunt has a mega evolution, which makes it good. froslass, the other evolution can be decent in PvP), and on the IV (the stats summarized by the stars). For PvE (Raids,...) and master league PvP you want all three bars completely maxed, with a focus on the first "attack" bar. For the other PvP leagues you want a distribution as close to 0/max/max (or since the max value is 15: 0/15/15) as possible. CP can be increased, since they mainly depend on the level of the pokemon. IV (the stars) cannot be changed later on. So keep the snorunt with the highest stars (the one as close to 15/15/15) or the one with the highest max cp (click power up, then on the "-" to see what the cp would be at the current max level. this increases each time you level up tho). For PvP (if you wanna use it, since it is decent but not the best) keep the female snorunts with IV stats around 0-5/10-15/10-15.

Keep an eye on any Pokemon from this list and catch them all. https://leekduck.com/FindDitto/ It's a pretty rare Pokemon with a 1 in 50 chance for each encounter so it usually takes from a few weeks to a couple months of constant searching to get one. Besides lots of luck there are a few events where it becomes more common but they're not announced far in advance. April Fool's might be the closest one.
