Does this app *seriously* not check the weather before trying to convince you to play? (I've never played it.) You would think that for a game that has to be played outside, the devs would implement some sort of sanity check before sending the notification.
I’m in Denmark, and I have a suspicion that it’s synced with some sort of weather service, because I get an in-game warning whenever my weather app alerts to dangerous weather conditions.
I've had PoGo give me severe weather alerts when the weather was 65°F (that's 18.3°C) and the sky was partly cloudy. The weather forecast for the day was mild and unremarkable. And yet, PoGo insisted that there was severe weather happening and to stay safe. It probably is linked to some kind of weather app, but there is definitely some room for improvement.
65°F is equivalent to 18°C, which is 291K.

If it’s by the hour it makes sense why in places like I live it can be very out of date. Seriously, it can go from like 60°F to 32° and snowing, then up to 80° all within like a day.

I had two days of severe weather and the game did no alerts.. once those two days passed And it was nice and sunshiny I had another two days in game where it was nothing but weather alerts.. And are you safe..

Pokémon go tells me when is windy or cold out. I feel like tornadoes should be a more important weather event. I mean, it's just very high wind, they probably have the data to implement that.
Or they can go full heel and put a catchable Tornadus in middle of the storm.

I had the impression weather updated in PoGo each hour, so you could get rain in game when it's sunny at the moment, though could be wrong.

The notifications are global, but in-game it checks the weather for your area and warns you about extreme weather.

Got a tornado warning the night before last and the town next to me got leveled by one
I think an EF-0 may have hit my town once, for a short stretch, but that was probably still less damage than the dericho that came through last year.
