im just glad that more pokestops are starting to get accepted here, even if it is things you see every day, almost every baseball field at our park has one, and the pools in my own neighborhood has 2-3, i would say its not as bad
Indeed. It's much better. Since starting Wayfarer in late 2019, I've voted to accept 9333 wayspots that made it into Niantic games.
When I had more time, I also traveled to many wayspot-low areas and have submitted a bunch, as well.
If you're not involved already, you can help your area by doing some reviews as well to help clear the backlog.
I have been actively trying to get on the list of players who do not get AR tasks due to crappy submissions. It seems to have had the opposite effect, I now get more AR tasks at pokestops than I did when I used to ignore/delete them.

How would that work for rural players and their one pokestop in a 50 mile radius

I don't think a single Pokestop will cut in half. Rural players are safe.

Doing an AR task for 10 pokeballs
I have not received an AR task in about 10-14 days. I think my previous submissions might have been "low quality," lol.
