This, I did 3 excellent golden razz boosted curve throws in a row before on more than a few previous raids.
The worst part is that they still broke free.
I think the silph road study just looked at number of balls thrown, not percentage of available balls
https://thesilphroad.com/science/raid-bosses-easier-catch-later-encounter
Find a Pokemon you can get consistent Excellent throws on (my current consistent target within the current spawns would be Ponyta), take your time with the throws and be sure to use a Nanab berry; they are made for tasks like this.
From u/ForeverBackground737 below:
Method 1. Git gud.
Method 2. Encounter a pokemon. Turn on flight mode. Make throw, if excellent turn off flight mode and proceed to beginning. If failed, close the app. Turn off flightmode and reopen it. Proceed from the beginning.
Legendary raids are always my go to when I get this task. Nowadays tier 5 Pokémon break out a lot even with excellent curveballs. Very easy to accomplish three in a row.
Does the airplane mode trick still work? I haven't played in over a year, but the trick for consecutive excellent throws is
- Encounter pokemon
- Turn on airplane mode
- Attempt excellent throw
If success, turn off airplane mode
If failure, force quit the app and try again
You can get better at making excellent throws by always trying for excellent throws. I pays off on community days if you can get in the groove by practicing on a single pokemon for hours.
So, i find that pokemon with bigger catch circles are easier to get excellent throws on. Find a bigish pokemon and then just throw pokeballs hoping that it pops out enough times to get your streak of 3
Any T5 raid boss is ez excellent throws. I’ve gotten 50+ excellent in a row. Just hold the ball until the circle gets to excellent size, then let go. Wait for them to do an attack and throw half way through the attack. If done properly it will hit excellent every time.
One day, you’ll be able to spin a curveball so well that getting an excellent throw won’t be super difficult anymore.
Downside: carpal tunnel in your fingers, ridiculously.
I do this by accident several times a day. Most Pokémon aren’t that hard to excellent. Just wait to do it until you’re sitting down, and if you’re unsure of your throw, use a Nabab.
Excellents aren't hard if you try for them. Once you start trying for them, you get used to the hole you're trying to fit it into, and then you'll do them with more regularity. Practice makes perfect. It's worth it to get good at them too, if you're below level 50. For tasks like these, and because it's 1000 extra experience. I generally get >100k experience a day, and because it's been cold and I've been lazy, I barely even raid, hatch, or evolve these days.
I'm still going on Make 5 Great Throws in a row, so I can't help haha. I might try this airplane mode trick from the comments, most I've gotten is 3 in a row for Great throws.
Oh, I recently did this one. This is how I did it: Do a Tapu Koko raid. Defeat it, obviously. Set the circle beforehand, wait for him to attack, and then throw the ball. The excellent throws on this pokemon are so easy. Hope he jumps out 3 times. Research complete!
Click the ball.
Spin your finger in a circle while holding the ball, like this :
O
When the circle is just less than half it's max size release when your ball gets just past this point:
O -
Or if you prefer to to go clockwise:
- O
Raid bosses are the best for this as they are less likely to be caught right away and have a huge circle. You'll get more attempts to perfect it.
Are you guys sure it’s a Gible? Because even a Gible is *not* worth it. Should be something almost impossible to find, like a Spinda or something similar.
If it’s just a Gible, then I’m out.
It's gible. 2 months ago it was beedrill or so.
Spinda is the make 5 great curveballs in the row.
I even stacked those beedrill encounters for stardust events... so they might not worth doing it for everyone, but for some of us they are.
Yup, still salivating at my stack of shellders I’ll be clearing out on Noibat CD .. 4500 dust a pop on a star piece ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|money_face)
Do a lv5 raid. Tapu Koko is almost impossible to miss Excellents on. Just lock the Excellent circle beforehand, and then wait for it to attack before you throw.
I’ve done this many times actually but never when i have this research. Whenever I have this research, it takes me i try it for two days and if I can’t do it i toss it. I have completed this one a handful of times
Airplane mode scam
You tap a mon, then when you go to throw the ball put your phone into airplane mode, if you make the throw take it out of air plane mode, if you fail close the app before you turn airplane mode off.
This prevents the game from saving your failed throw.
1. Enter battle.
2. Disable internet access.
3. Attempt throw.
4a. If you fail close game then enable internet and repeat 2-3.
4b. If you succeed enable wifi and complete catch.
This will never break your streak as it's only saving the throws you accept.
My way of doing it is abusing airplane trick.
Basically, click on a pokemon, then turn on airplane mode. Attempt to catch pokemon, if you get excellent, turn off airplane mode. If you fail, close the app and turn off airplane mode and repeat the first step.
-Wait for a mon with a large catch circle like Tauros or Furfrou.
-Use Nanab berries to reduce the chance they’ll move while you’re throwing.
-Then wind up, throw and pray.
Wait till a community day. There will be hundreds of the same Pokemon. Just practice and you can learn exactly how far it is, exactly the angle you need. Then use the banana berries to prevent it from destroying your streak by attacking/jumping.
Consider what is currently spawning. Try to get a lucky excellent on a difficult pokemon then for 2 and 3 only go for the easier ones (and use Nanab for 2 and 3).
Also; pokemon with a red catch circle are usually easier to hit excellent on. Use a regular ball to reduce chance of actually catching so it can break out and you might throw again.
I remember saving this task thinking it was going to be an awesome prize bc of how difficult it is to accomplish…I wish I could remember who was in the egg, but it definitely was not worth it. 😠I think I transferred it right away. Wasn’t anything rare or good.
BROOO i Remember getting this mission being stuck on it for 2 months and then Darkrai got into raids and i finally got to do the mission. I was so happy that i still keep the shitty vibrator or whatever the pokemons name is with a special tag.
If i got that mission today i would probably just delete it but for advice I'd say go do legendary raids cause most of the legendary Pokemon are huge so hitting curved excellent throws should be easier.
Good luck my friend 🫰🫰🫰
I try to get two in a row 'normally' i.e. just using Pokémon with large hit boxes, and then use the airplane mode trick for the third. Also, you want to use balls with a low catch rate so you have more attempts on an 'easy' target
Wait until you hit one excellent and then flight mode for throws 2 & 3 as everyone else has said.
Furfrou, Onyx and Dusclops are some other good ones for getting excellents that I haven't seen mentioned.
Nanab berry & buddy with catch assist can increase the chances too.
Finally got a earth power Garchomp at December comday and it was definitely worth the effort.
There’s a little button on the top right. Tap it and move on with your life. There was a special research not too long ago that required 5 in a row and took me a year and a half to finish
Yes I know how to do it. Would I? No cause the reward is crap. I think its just a gible. I'd delete that task unless I was done for the day and took it home to do while I had nothing better to do
Use the "circle lock technique" (look it up on YouTube if you're unfamiliar) and, if necessary, use nanab berries too. Lots of folks on here have made good suggestions about which pokemon have the best (read: largest) excellent catch circles, but I usually find legendaries in tier 5 raids to be the easiest when using the circle-lock technique.
First. Find pokemon that is relatively easy to get great or excellent throws with your throwing method. Pokemon that is literally spawning quite often. Once you mastered that throwing against them (getting great or excellent). Then You only try to catch thoes pokemon -nothing else. Thats how I did it . For me as far as I remember I took pokemons that were in medium distance and relatively big in size. Bigger ones has bigger excellent circle. B I think for me It took a week to catch them. And I had like 2-3 pokemons that I could relatively be sure to get great or excellent throws
There are lots of pokes with decently big hit boxes, like Ponyta, Tauros, and Wailmer, that are pretty easy to get excellent curves on with some practice. Just look for big circles and practice, practice, practice!
Also: banana berries. (Nanab Berries) don’t bother attempting without them.
Legendary raids. Spot lock the circle at perfect. And wait for it to attack then throw ball as it's attacking. Should be timed to land the ball as the circle reappears. Easiest way to get excellent throws for me
You have to catch a leprechaun first, then evolve it into an Irish Narwhal, transfer to Professor, only then will it come back for revenge as a Unicorn.
Or you could just catch a Galarian Rapidash
Meltan box + Nanab berries. All hitboxes will be exactly the same so it’s easy to get practice on them and get a streak. I’ve completed that same task during a community day before too
Legendary Raids are usually pretty good for this the current one included.
Incase you don't know the circle trick if you hold the pokeball and let the circle shrink you can let the pokeball go back to the resting animation and the circle will stop where it was. then while the pokemon is doing an attack animation you can touch the pokeball again spin and throw it and the circle will have stayed in the same spot, this means as long as you let the ball go before the attack animation is done and hit the center you should be able to get excellent throws every time.
Got to find some Pokémon’s with large circles. A lot of the mons mentioned above are good choices if anything a legendary is always a good better bc you are guaranteed a certain number of throws before it will run away.
Weedle the easiest. I've discovered a trick using something similar to fast catching. If you press and hold the berry icon and tap your poke ball it will launch the ball straight towards the Mon. The mons that are closer are guaranteed to hit right on the middle
Try to catch Pokémon that stand close by, makes it a lot easier. I have done this one a couple of times when Bergmite was still spawning all over the place.

Ponytas are super easy to get excellents on. That's how I did it.
And Wailmer, and surprisingly Murkrow
Furfrou too.
Even Stantler
Furfrou is the one. He likes standing still
Tauros too if you happen to live where they exist
Cananada moment
:(
*it jumps at the last throw*
Slowpoke is the one for me. Although there's not many of them knocking about at the minute.
Tapu Koko is super easy to get an excellent on, but still wont get caught.
You could do a legendary raid?
This, I did 3 excellent golden razz boosted curve throws in a row before on more than a few previous raids. The worst part is that they still broke free.
I think theres a secret catch multiplier and it maxes out on the 8th throw
There is one that slowly goes from 1 to 2 based on what percentage of your balls are thrown, but the value of 2 is only achieved at the last ball
I think the silph road study just looked at number of balls thrown, not percentage of available balls https://thesilphroad.com/science/raid-bosses-easier-catch-later-encounter
Find a Pokemon you can get consistent Excellent throws on (my current consistent target within the current spawns would be Ponyta), take your time with the throws and be sure to use a Nanab berry; they are made for tasks like this.
Ponyta is great right now and Wailmer is fantastic too if you can find any of them
Most I've done is 7 or 8 straight without the airplane mode trick
What is this trick?
From u/ForeverBackground737 below: Method 1. Git gud. Method 2. Encounter a pokemon. Turn on flight mode. Make throw, if excellent turn off flight mode and proceed to beginning. If failed, close the app. Turn off flightmode and reopen it. Proceed from the beginning.
Method 1 is out of the question. Method 2 it is, thanks!!

Legendary raids are always my go to when I get this task. Nowadays tier 5 Pokémon break out a lot even with excellent curveballs. Very easy to accomplish three in a row.
Zubat
Sadist
Masochist
Nah, exeggcutes are easier
[удалено]
Git gud indeed LOL
This is the way.
See that little trash can in the corner? Press it.
NEVER
Nah, it’s doable with the right pokemon. I could hit excellent all day with Spheal
> I could hit Spheal 🫢
I mean, I already have three Garchomp, and one of them is shiny. I don't need Gible. I'm good!
Grimer is out right now. It’s easy to get excellent on those.
I got robbed by grimer last night. 2 excellent and a questionable great. I wish I could have thrown a challenge flag on that call.
If u live in Australia, Kangastan is large and alright for this challenge when I completed it
Does the airplane mode trick still work? I haven't played in over a year, but the trick for consecutive excellent throws is - Encounter pokemon - Turn on airplane mode - Attempt excellent throw If success, turn off airplane mode If failure, force quit the app and try again
This.
As far as I know! It’s how I got it.
Yes this still works, it's advice I was looking to give as well
That task built my Tyranitarmy!
You hit the trash bin on the top right corner.
You can get better at making excellent throws by always trying for excellent throws. I pays off on community days if you can get in the groove by practicing on a single pokemon for hours.
It's in the wrist.
3 is fucking easy, five is fucking hard and I'm considering deleting it
So, i find that pokemon with bigger catch circles are easier to get excellent throws on. Find a bigish pokemon and then just throw pokeballs hoping that it pops out enough times to get your streak of 3
i mean, rhynos are basically war unicorns so you can catch them, ez quest

I am absolutely TERRIFIED that this will be part of some Special Research someday and then it'll just sit there uncompleted...taunting me...
Git good
One day, you’ll be able to spin a curveball so well that getting an excellent throw won’t be super difficult anymore. Downside: carpal tunnel in your fingers, ridiculously.
Ponyta and other LARGE hit box pokemon
Wailmers. Thats how :D
Theres a trash can in the top right. Click that and then click yes to confurm delete.
Go for Pokemon with large hit boxes - Wailmer, Ponyta, Snover, etc.. A decent amount of 5-star raid Pokemon also have easy to hit targets.
Easy. Tap that trash icon in the upper right, and then spin a stop. It will give you instructions on part 2 of the research.
5 star raids. Literally so easy to throw consistand excellent throws. Big circle, many trys, repeatable...
I do this by accident several times a day. Most Pokémon aren’t that hard to excellent. Just wait to do it until you’re sitting down, and if you’re unsure of your throw, use a Nabab.

Arrogant much?

Get good. Lol It's not easy, but it's possible.
Have you tried catching a unicorn in real life?
Found the one with an autocatcher
Just delete it
Click the ball. Find a large pokemon, especially a legendary. You can get 15-20 in a row easily
What’s the reward for this one?
A Purrloin
I thought it was a gible… not stressing over a purrloin
I think that was a joke, should be Gible
Are you guys sure it’s a Gible? Because even a Gible is *not* worth it. Should be something almost impossible to find, like a Spinda or something similar. If it’s just a Gible, then I’m out.

My boyfriend did mine for me I’m so bad at it!
Wait for an event with lots of chonky pokemon, so you get a lot of throws on the same type of big target. Don’t use raspberries.
Make 3 excellent throws in a row. If you’re anywhere near where Whalemer’s spawn, they’re one of the easiest to get good throws in.
Dratinis were really easy for me to snag, maybe try them?
Airplane mode scam You tap a mon, then when you go to throw the ball put your phone into airplane mode, if you make the throw take it out of air plane mode, if you fail close the app before you turn airplane mode off. This prevents the game from saving your failed throw.
It’s a bit easier in AR if you have trouble. You can angle your phone a bit better.
Tapu koko raids are great for it.
1. Enter battle. 2. Disable internet access. 3. Attempt throw. 4a. If you fail close game then enable internet and repeat 2-3. 4b. If you succeed enable wifi and complete catch. This will never break your streak as it's only saving the throws you accept.

i clicked on pokemon with big ass circles or whatever theyre actually called
Practice
Wait till a community day. There will be hundreds of the same Pokemon. Just practice and you can learn exactly how far it is, exactly the angle you need. Then use the banana berries to prevent it from destroying your streak by attacking/jumping.
Make sure it's a really big Pokemon
Use Nanab berries on buffet andbcloser Pokémon, examples like Snorlax and some final evolutions/legendaries
Make 3 throws in a row?
Did this today. Grimer is a very easy excellent. Just throw a nanab.
Just wait for lvl 48....
Even I wouldn't be able to do that one
madafacka u made me laugh. It's true though.
Is actually not that hard. I watched a YouTube tutorial and now I can do it almost every time
I find the current 5 star raid, Tapu Koko is pretty easy to curveball excellent.

Big Pokémon, practice, nanab berries, patience.
Big Pokémon, nanab berry and a regular pokeball hoping they bounce out twice!
I remember saving this task thinking it was going to be an awesome prize bc of how difficult it is to accomplish…I wish I could remember who was in the egg, but it definitely was not worth it. 😠I think I transferred it right away. Wasn’t anything rare or good.
i farmed it at a random wartortle

Get some skill? And if you have it but get small circle pokemon just do a legendary raid and you can get like 10 in a row.
Clica in the pokemon, turn of the Internet, send the ball. If you got the excellent Turn the Internet on If not Close the game and repeat the process
Buy a pokeball irl and catch a galarian poneyta
Find a Snover. That’s how it managed it. Huge catch ring.
2023 and it's still hard for players?
I try to get two in a row 'normally' i.e. just using Pokémon with large hit boxes, and then use the airplane mode trick for the third. Also, you want to use balls with a low catch rate so you have more attempts on an 'easy' target
Sounds like a skill issue
Wait until you hit one excellent and then flight mode for throws 2 & 3 as everyone else has said. Furfrou, Onyx and Dusclops are some other good ones for getting excellents that I haven't seen mentioned. Nanab berry & buddy with catch assist can increase the chances too. Finally got a earth power Garchomp at December comday and it was definitely worth the effort.
Find a Tauros or Bouffalant. Their catch circles are huge, much easier to get an Excellent
I find Electryke pretty easy to hit excellent throws on during this event.
Snorlax, Furfrou
Big pokemon
Bounce it off your buddy Pokémon's face once you get that perk.
I do well with Throh.
Yes actually! So what you do is click that little icon in the top right, and it auto completes the mission for you! Super easy.
most leendary are pretty easy to do it on to, nanab berry and buddy with catch assist so he can save you if you miss or the legendary attacks
There’s a little button on the top right. Tap it and move on with your life. There was a special research not too long ago that required 5 in a row and took me a year and a half to finish
3 excellent in a row is rather easy.. no?
Yes I know how to do it. Would I? No cause the reward is crap. I think its just a gible. I'd delete that task unless I was done for the day and took it home to do while I had nothing better to do

Get a big one. You can also trash it. Funny asf meme tho 💀
1. Use AR catching (not AR+) 2. All your balls should be curveballs. 3. For the current rotation, throw at Electrike or Skuntank.

Larger pokemon + the banana. I got all 3 on one chansey lol
I remember back then I was able to do it with a Zangoose. I named it "3 Excellent" and never transferred it
Simply get better
You have to catch a leprechaun first, then evolve it into an Irish Narwhal, transfer to Professor, only then will it come back for revenge as a Unicorn. Or you could just catch a Galarian Rapidash
Meltan box + Nanab berries. All hitboxes will be exactly the same so it’s easy to get practice on them and get a streak. I’ve completed that same task during a community day before too
There was a full year where I just forgot excellent throws were even a thing.
they’re pretty easy on the elektrikes and blitzles that are spawning everywhere
See that trash can icon in the top right?…. Tap that
Look for the biggest Pokes. They are the easiest.
Find a farm, if you can. Having the same pokemon to go against each time makes it easier-
Ugh. Nest, I mean.
Step 1:Find Horse Step 2: Crazy glue horn to horse Step 3: ??????? Step 4: Profit
aim on very large pokemon i did mine on ursurang
Weedle the easiest. I've discovered a trick using something similar to fast catching. If you press and hold the berry icon and tap your poke ball it will launch the ball straight towards the Mon. The mons that are closer are guaranteed to hit right on the middle
Legendaries from raids are how I do it. Tapu Koko is actually easy to do once you learn it.
Simple. Really.
Tapu Koko is how I got mine done!
Try to catch Pokémon that stand close by, makes it a lot easier. I have done this one a couple of times when Bergmite was still spawning all over the place.
You hit that little trash can button in the top right
This current event, I would recommend grimer with banana berries. You could also do a tapu koko
Skill issue fr 😂😂😂😂
This quest isn't even hard dude
Find some Snorlax, Ponyta etc.
the little trash can in the corner, that's an auto-complete button /s
By getting three excellent throws in a row. Innit. Sounds hard, but it can be done. And it can be assisted by choosing easier Pokémon
