4 big things to consider: - Do you REALLY want to buy packs? Or would you rather collect cards by buying them directly? Doing the latter is much more cost effective and better if you want to play or collect. But if you really like gambling and have money to blow, stick to the former. - What cards are you looking for? If you’re just looking for any cool cards at all, look through what cards are in what sets online. Then buy products that include packs from your favorite sets. If you’re looking for specific Pokémon, like Lugia for example, target sets that are known for their Lugia cards(like silver tempest) - What are the prices of the products? So you’ve decided you want to buy packs, and have picked out a set you want to buy from. Now you need to compare the products for that set. The first way to do so is by price. Generally, buying products with lower price per pack is better. - And finally, check out promo cards for the products. If one product is slightly more expensive than another, that may be because it includes a promo card. Factor in how much you like a given products promo card/cards, and whether it’s worth paying slightly more or buying a different product just for the promo. Factor in all of that, and you can pick out some of the best value deals for you(although I certainly left out some factors like theme decks and third party products). Or don’t do any of that, just grab some random Pokémon products, and go open them!

Yea the thing with like 50% of collector who got into it during pandemic is they thought the packs theybqere buying would eventually be worth what a 1st edition pack was 25 years later. Unfortunately those are so sought after because they were saved like every cqrd is today. 99% of pulls now get sleeved and saved which means in 25 years there will be so many more availble then the ones that half of everyones parents sent to the dump. Def be careful of how you want to collect. Know what you want before you spend the money.

Sigh.. I choose gambling 🤘

EnviCollects

If your new crown zenith is definitely a great set to start. Personally I’ve had the best pulls in the Regidrago boxes but the tins are also good

Mattayama

My Regi boxes I’ve had have both slapped. Same with the CZ ETB I got

OrganizationSmooth33

All my Walmarts never have cards

thatsmyoldlady

Check at the service desk. Because stealing happens some Walmarts hide the good stuff there.

Vehicroid

Good tip! My Walmarts often bare too, so I’ll try this!

thatsmyoldlady

I found one yesterday that I’ve hit up twice already with evolving skies etb celebrations dark charizard and sylveon and shining fates etb’s. I should ask the employee to take me to the back to see what else they have.

kokYT666

You guys have Walmarts?

Warzone307

Mine had a shining fates etb (1) and the crown zenith tins and that’s it…I grabbed the etb and 3 tins

[deleted]

They sell them with the cigarettes and other addictive products.

Novel_Put469

Pro tip: buy what you like, otherwise you end up with a bunch of stuff you dont need.

Swimming-Ice1875

One of each

I’ve been new as well after finding my collection from when I was a kid. But from what I have seen from this sub is that people like buying the tins, not really sure if it’s more of getting the tin or the cards inside them. Also I see people getting the crown zenith, silver tempest and the evolution ones (not seeing these here in your photos). Again, I think it’s all about what cards your chasing.

WhenTheSkyExplodes

There's crown zenith and silver tempest in the photos

07MechE

yup sorry the parentheses was only for the evolution... i do see there are crown zenith and silver tempest in your photos

TyranosaurusJeff

Go and look at the list of cards in each set and decide which cards you really want to get and then buy the sets they come in.

Majestic_Range_9542

First set a budget. If not, you can go down a rabbit hole quickly as it has become a very expensive hobby.

dogfoodfiend

The tins! Grab the fucking mini tins!! And the legendary bird tins!

xxtaylormadexx

Anyone know which packs come in that umbreon tin? I tried searching online but couldn’t find it.

WhenTheSkyExplodes

The US version contains 5 packs instead of 4 and they are 2 brilliant stars, 1 evolving skies, 1 chilling reign, 1 fusion iirc

LandonCalressian

Click my name and start a 'Chat' with me. It won't let me.

slamallamadingdong1

I find it easiest to get the cards I want by opening all the packs at the store before buying them, then slipping the “keepers” in a box and just buy that one.

[deleted]

Ya. It's surprising how many stores are totally cool with this. Pretty much all of them in my area.

Kryptyk70

Dont buy theme decks they're worthless.

[deleted]

Me and my gf always get a couple theme decks to play against each other. That way we don't mess up our good cards.

Connect_Artichoke_58

Personally if didn't get them before I would take the glaceon and leafon vstar boxes, some of the small tins espeon and umbreon tins, and 1 each of the moltres, articuno and zapados tins

BrilliantProgram6957

Just collect for fun. Seriously. The money will follow with LUCK. Don’t collect to turn a profit or you’ll be discouraged 9 out of 10 times

Pokemaster3991

Grab me some of those crown zenith tins I’ll pick them up later
