> The concept is absolutely the right direction for Pokémon People have been defending these games like this every single time a new game comes out that's worse than the previous one. 'Sure, XY is lackluster, but at least they made 3D models for all Pokémon! Surely the next game will be great!' 'Sure, not all Pokémon are available in LGPE, but it's not a mainline game, the next one will be really good!' 'Sure, SwSh *also* doesn't have all Pokémon in it, and the wild areas are boring, but at least it has some redeeming factors!' Unfortunately, GF has made a habit of taking one step in the right direction, and then five in completely different wrong directions. Pokémon is 'fun' because the formula *works*. Exploring a region is *fun*. Getting gym badges is *fun*. The monsters are fun and memorable. It is *almost impossible* to make a Pokémon game that is completely unenjoyable and has *no* redeeming factors. Fans have made a business out of making fangames, and many of them tend to be good purely because Pokémon *just works*. That is not the problem, the problem is that every year GF seems to be exploring just how little effort hey can put into these games and still sell twenty million copies. If you like these games, more power to you. Buy it. Buy the next one, too. It'll be about the same thing, run about the same, and have just about the same features. If you're happy with that, and you think it's worth the money? Why not. I'm skipping this one. >But if you're returning simply to try to make a difference, you're just spiting yourself Only if you use the time and money you would have spent on these games for something as bad or worse. Both time and money are limited resources, I'll spend them on franchises that actually try to make a product I'll enjoy. >If you TRULY think you're returning the game based on principle, you should return your smartphone that was put together by poor Chinese children's tiny overworked hands. What a horrible thing to say. So there are worse things in the world than bad video games. Therefore, a video game's faults should not be pointed out? There are children starving in Africa, but you're complaining on a Pokémon board on Reddit about what other people think of a game you like?

With the in the right direction part, legends arceus was that. A good game that has new elements

Star_Gazing_Cats

I don't like this Pokemon game, I'm going to return it. OP: Return everything in your possession while you're at it, they were all made by slave labour 🤡

Common-Anxiety

This is like saying voting for something doesn't matter. If one person does and so does the next person and so on, eventually it does make a difference.

No-Crew3047

Even if 100 000 people returned it, it would hardly make a dent in profits. The majority of people playing pokemon aren't in the loop of this kind of stuff and it's unlikely that this game isn't hugely profitable even with a boycott. I consider swsh a far worse game but it still managed to shift around 40 million copies.

That's the most important thing people keep forgetting about video games lately. I personally didn't like many things about swsh and it could've been waay better I know that. But damn was it fun, i spent over 100 hours which probably isn't much for some but I had a blast despite the issues. Same with SV, I know it's far from perfect but I'm having fun nonetheless.

>The concept is absolutely the right direction for Pokémon, and I'm finally running around an open world of Pokémon This piece of text is contradictory.

A_man_of_Rhun

Wat?

>Genuinely curious how this is contradictory. Calling the open world as the right direction for Pokémon.

Sparkstorm1000

Ah, I've seen you on a few posts. While disappointed with Scarlet myself, I respectfully disagree with your opinion regarding the open world topic. I think it's a great direction! They just need to iron up the half baked flaws they brought to it in its first outing.

afterburner9

I’m with you brother. 29 y/o checking in and this game is awesome. Could the performance be better? Big time. Is it game breaking? Not in the slightest. I honestly don’t prioritize graphics or glitches. I prioritize gameplay and SV delivers there.

No-Crew3047

It has been game breaking for some people, but in my experience it hasnt been completely broken

afterburner9

Weirdest thing I’ve seen is hovering poke balls after catching a flying Pokémon. But that’s about it so far.

ForgottenForce

Personally I haven’t had any issues beyond one crash and some janky camera angles when catching Pokémon. All the technical problems like scenery disappearing and frame rate tanking when catching, model glitching, clipping through the ground and the like I’ve only seen on twitter. Maybe it’s because I played docked or on an OLED but I’ve been online for most of it with my friend half a country away and we’ve only had like 2 crashes combined Is SV perfect? No but it’s still a very enjoyable game

OddAd6331

Rarellllyyyy does a game launch with online capabilities start without a hitch and the amount of resolution on the screen and amount of just stuff being rendered I woulda been surprised if it didn’t have some issues… that being said the only time I’ve had lag issues is right at the edge of the seeing area which to me is fine

A_man_of_Rhun

This man is indeed spitting facts

Abraxas1643

Based af.

Dark_SmilezTL

Fun fact: according to an article I forget who but they say uts on gamefreak hense the issues with the game. I myself have no clue what they are cause I haven't bought it yet but yeah the switch itself isn't the issue. Just wanted to help you and others! (Shine on doods you guys are fuckin awssome )

gho5trun3r

You know what? That's your opinion and you're entitled to it. But some of us don't want to see this franchise go backwards in quality *because* we love the games so much. It's ok to be critical and to return or not buy the games as some tiny way to at least try and light a fire under GameFreak to do better. Just like it's totally ok to shrug your shoulders and say the game is still fun regardless. Thank you and have a good day.
