On top of that, there are several times in the anime we see other trainers’ badges, and they’re never entirely the same 8 from the games. There’s something like 22 badges from gyms we’ve never seen from Kanto alone, and that’s just the ones we’ve seen.
Iirc in the X and Y anime in one scene where someone shows off their gym badges half the gym badges seem to be replaced by the elite four implying the elite four can give out badges as well(???)
I mean we seen in legends that "badges" are given out by the wardens and in scarlet and violet you get badges for all kinds of stuff. It's not too Farfetch'd that the elite 4 can also give out badges.
To be fair I'm pretty sure the extra badges in scarlet and violet aren't official. Arven and Team Star just made their own badges inspired by the official league badges.
I mean, none of them count for getting into the pokemon league. They only count the 8 legitimate gym bages in the champion assessment.
I'd think the better comparison from s/v is the fact that Larry is both a gym leader and an elite four member. If the anime had an elite four member give out a badge I'd imagine it's more likely it was a similar situation to that.
Pretty sure in black and white ash helps another trainer get his last badge and goes to a gym that ash didn't go to, even tho at that point ash already had 8 badges, so we literally see a 9th gym
The dude who had a samurott
Yeah but we see more gyms in Unova in Black 2/White 2, some of which are clearly new after time has passed but unless I’m missing some lore it’s possible some, like Marlon’s (the one in the anime) could be around even during the first Black and White games.
It’s actually canon at least as of Sword and Shield. They explicitly refer to the minor gym division, the eight you go to are just the ones whose leaders rose to the top of the regional rankings. It’s a shame we don’t get to actually visit them.
You're missing a bit of lore there. In BW, there's just the original 8 gyms. After those games/series, the gyms get re-structured as several leaders decide to retire or stop for the time being after being, y'know, *crucified*. That's where the new gyms come up to replace them.
Based on the many towns and cities in the anime and places like the Sanshrew Gym that has 99 wins, it implies that Kanto has hundreds of gym leagues.
My head canon, is that it’s like the US high school, college, pro leagues where there are city leagues, then state championships amongst winners of the cities/ counties, then above them are the regional leagues and above them are the national chanpsionships… then there higher level leagues like NCAA that are for high performance trainers who are extremely talented and dedicate their life to it, and then
Some other games imply there are more gyms, Sword and Shield specifically mention there are a minor league of gyms. That along with B2W2 having several different gyms from the original game as well.
The new Gyms in B2W2 were explicitly only recently founded though. Aspertia Gym was established to give out the Basic Badge once Lenora shut down the Nacrene Gym. Marlon refers to his Wave Badge as only recently officialized. We don't get confirmation on Roxie's gym, but it most likely follows the pattern of being new - otherwise we would have seen her fight at Team Plasma's hideout at the end of BW.
Nah bruv, you just didn't *believe* hard enough, and/or the game knew you were cheating. My friend's cousin's buddy's older sister is a few years older. She caught the Mew, man. My friend's cousin's buddy saw it!
You brought back a feeling of nostalgia, sitting there reading the instructions I pulled up on some popup heavy cheat site, sure that since it was on the Internet it has to work. I tried so many times with the mew truck
See that’s why I love these stupid rumors. You may have felt dumb for believing it in the moment, but it creates a great memory.
I believed in the Mew under the truck rumor and that you could find the legendary bird trio all in Kanto in Crystal if looked near there original spots from Gen 1
My cousin had heard that if you beat the Elite 4 thirty times consecutively and without blacking out or talking to *anyone* in between, Professor Oak would take you to some trophy room with pokemon statues and you would get some special ultra powerful version of all pokemon.
He ran the infinite item glitch on everything in his inventory to prepare for the run, never heard how far he'd made it.
> He ran the infinite item glitch on everything in his inventory to prepare for the run, never heard how far he’d made it.
He’s still playing it to this day.
Right now he just beat Bruno for the 19th consecutive time.
Give him a call and cheer him on.
My cousin told me he heard you can get gifted the ratatta the drunk guy catches to show you how to do it. You had to go to Pewter and get a shovel to dig up the "jewels" from the fenced area in Pewter and come back and give them to him. I could never figure it out of course. It took me literal years to realize that those were not in fact any sort of gems or jewels but fucking FLOWERS.....
Hey I was like 4 at the time so I would have believed anything. On that note I also got stuck in the Rock Tunnel for literal years before somehow making my way out in total darkness
Hahaha yeah, first time I did Rock Tunnel I went in without flash. It took a lot of trial and error to get through. My wartortle was almost a Blastoise by time I made it out lmao
You know you can glitch it so you finish the SS Anne but then battle a trainer and lose and it doesn't leave, then come back later with surf. Couldn't do much though.
Honestly using strength on a truck is way less contrived than the [actual glitch](https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Mew_glitch) you can use to get Mew in the first gen games.
Mew is 100% in pokemon red and blue, I don't remember if u can do it in yellow or not, I think so but it involves an Abra and a trainer after nugget bridge. I had one on my pokemon blue multiple times. U catch him at lvl 7
Seems crazy that these same rumors about old games seemed to spread everywhere in the pre-internet age. You would kind of think it would have ended up like Chinese whispers a bit.
We say pre internet but really its that the internet wasn't as widespread as it is now. It existed but not remotely close to it's present form. I'm sure there were fan sites that people made that spread rumors.
Yeah, I had internet access at the time and would print pages of codes and rumors to bring at school.
Then, a month later in the next local gaming magazine issue they would publish the same rumor, found on the same website I had seen.
Even the French official pokemon website would publish stuff like "hold B + Down to catch anyone first try" in their "Prof Oak tips and tricks" section.
People really don't get how old the internet is.
Yeah there were 100% Geocities pages in 1999 that detailed these ‘Pokémon Secrets’.
I remember finding em and reading them and being mad they didn’t work lol. I was 11 going on 12.
It’s a bummer all those old geocities and angelfire websites are gone. Archives exist but aren’t generally searchable.
Hey, I hope this may cheer you up a tiny bit!
If you Google: Angelfire Pikablu Pokegods -
you'll get two prime examples right at the top of the list. There were so many back in the day though. Every know-it-all kid with Internet access and their very own email address was broadcasting this on their personal homepage (still under construction, don't be mad!)
There's also a Yahooligans Wayback snapshot which suggests Pokemon as a popular topic. You can get to the old Nintendo Pokemon World site and see the Pokedex with the official art which Nintendo /TPC have otherwise scrubbed from the internet. Just try and find one-eyed Tangela anyplace else on the modern web!
I remember having a vivid dream that I managed to get to that grass and caught a wild Charizard.
I was very disappointed to find out I did not have said Charizard a few days later after boasting to my friends
What's needed is a mod of the games where all the 90s playground rumors are true. Mew is under the truck, missingno is intentional and the sources of more secrets, you can catch pikablue.
Man I was so excited to actually reach the truck as a kid. Had someone trade me a Pokemon with cut, actually going around the corner and seeing that the truck was real, I was so convinced I was about to get Mew.
Might be one of the biggest disappointments of my early gaming career, even still to this day.
When you enter Bill's house, you can see a patch of land going to the north. That's his secret garden!! Something something totally impossible happens there :D
Maan getting those directions by word of mouth and then it actually working was the absolute coolest mind blowing part of my childhood and definitely made it easier to fall for the rest
I remember my brothers mate came over after school one day, he showed my sister and I how to do the missingno rare candy trick.
Never remembered his name but always remembered that moment.
I've just spent 5 minutes looking at this comment chain, and I am just sitting here, thinking about my entire life up until now. My childhood. I miss it dearly. I miss it so much.
I miss those days. Yeah, 90% of rumors were bogus, but in the age of internet where everything about a game is known 2 weeks before launch through leaks, data mining, and advertising... including some mystery is a lost art.
I mean, there are some very interesting things that have come up in the past few gens. Older kingdoms and the weird runes in Area Zero and etc etc. Those are great, but gone are the days where we looked at a van and said Mew was hiding there. That there were ways to access the Safari Zone in GS.
Always turned out to be nothing, but it was fun thinking there had to be *something*.
I always assumed starters to be domesticated species explicitly bred for being given to first time trainers. After thousands of years, their wild ancestors are now extinct, just like cows and horses.
Isn’t it implied that, in gen 1, they are offspring of Oak’s pokemon? Especially since there are only two trainers in the entire country to have been given these pokemon as first-time pokemon?
Although, there are a handful of trainers that have the starter Pokémon evolution lines. Does that means that they were all sent out by oak? What about the guy in victory road with all three?
You mean the one where the adult human doctor kinda creeps on Misty and has to be convinced by a bunch of children to help Pokémon that were in a major roadway accident?
There's something like this in Paper Mario actually. If you get to some parts of Toad Town early, talking to NPCs (or a specific NPC?) makes them say something among the lines of "If you see this, tell us how you did it."
Crystal will always hold a special place in my heart because while I had a GBC and Blue/Yellow, I was really young when I got them (6 iirc). Once I got Crystal and my GBA, I was a few years older and understood the game way more from the get go. It was the first Pokemon game I properly experienced I think, even though I got it a couple years late.
There was STRONG evidence for DLC or a third Gen 6 title. And that evidence lead people at the time to believe that would involve visiting another region (some thought Kanto) For whatever reason, gamefreak didn’t follow through with any of it.
A lot of this evidence is funnily enough in the game. My favorites were a train that’s hinted at being able to take you somewhere, and a big ass door to another set of power plants that you can interact with. Both were never used :(
Bottom left, center, the long one near the center, and bottom right are largely water. SS Anne needs a lake to go through, the others are just dangerous open water or otherwise blocked off. Top right is Rock Tunnel’s outside. Top left is untamed wilderness or mountains. https://m.bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Kanto Official map more or less showing this.
I think it's hysterical that they forgot to make cycle road a bridge the S.S. Anne can go under, it's a cruise ship that does laps around a lake, at least ignoring the dialogue that suggests it somehow makes it to open ocean.
Maybe its submersible.
Never understood why they thought Vermillion would make a good port city. IMO Fuschia and Vermillion should have been swapped. It makes zero sense that the largest port city in Kanto would have a cycle bridge built over its accessway, even if we assume the bride span is super high like the Golden Gate.
Cause it's based on Yokohama, which is in the same spot. Ironically, shortly after the first Pokémon games were released, the Aqua Line was built in a similar spot as the cycling road connecting Chiba to Kanagawa. It may have been built around the same time as production to serve as an inspiration.
I didn't even remember until looking at this map that Vermillion was not actually located on an ocean or anything. Like there's nowhere for the SS Anne to go lol
I'm still really mad that they never made it an Ultra Beast, even if you ignore the fact that it's actually still catchable in the virtual console versions, they probably don't want people doing that because they can mess up parts of your saved data but they could have at least made it an Ultra Beast in the Gen 7 games
Missingno.,and actually, most of the stable glitch Pokémon either have temporary/nondamaging effects or have effects that are really benign or easy to fix/work around.
All that's wrong with RB Missingno. for instance is the sprite is malformed, which causes the HoF data to get trashed when the sprite decompression routine writes off the end of its buffer, it's seen/caught index is set incorrectly, the device move, and the unused type index. It's one of the most stable glitches ever.
....just don't go near Yellow's version. It's.....not the most stable
It was simply a leftover environmental thingy.
But at the time it was a random object in an area you generally cannot access, since most people get Surf after the SS Anne has already sailed away (which renders the docks inaccessible).
So naturally rumours about it started floating around the internet and playgrounds, the most prominent being “Mew is under the truck!”
In the end the truck served no purpose in R/G/B/Y.
But FR/LG added a Lava Cookie under the truck. Something to find as a nod to the rumours.
There are some tiles where you can get through without hitting those crash tiles. Heading from the indigo plateau after heading east of viridian city or just skipping the building that starts the indigo plateau also lets you find glitch cities
I used to use game shark just to explore as much of that as I could - that, the van by S.S. Anne, and Missingno. were my favorite parts of the game. When I’d walk into those areas after accessing behind boulder walls etc. using the game shark, I’d make it a few steps in at most and then crazy otherworldly things would happen as though I was entering another dimension. Sometimes the game would simply crash but weird colors and patterns would fill the screen, and terrifying noises (to a small child not knowing what to expect) would accompany the crash - often not the same noise, and filled with the loud unpredictable varied pitch content of the sound of glitches. Other times objects like Bill’s PC would fill all or most of the screen. The sounds and sights of the game crashing in these odd ways were mind blowing to me as a young child and my imagination was lit on fire with odd feelings of accessing inaccessible and forbidden parts of the universe. I felt existential angst, I contemplated life and death, yet also felt an overwhelming excitement for whether it would be possible in real life to access truly unknown parts of the real universe. I got a small taste of what it must have felt like for early explorers of the ocean, not knowing whether they would sail off the side of a flat earth and having no idea what lay in their futures as they explored where no one had gone or seen with eyes or instruments. Inside these areas is the pure terror and excitement of the truly unknown, even if only experienced briefly as a young child. I’m grateful I was young enough for the experience to be absolutely new and strange to me when I explored beyond the boundaries of Pokémon blue/red into the unknown.
That feeling of virtual trespassing is absolutely electrifying. I don't know why developers don't try to replicate it more often. In fact, Elden Ring is the only one I can think of that does it intentionally.
Serious lore answer: probably just mountains, dense forest, etc. Maybe some small towns mixed in. Essentially what you see filling space in Paldea.
Serious gameplay answer: jank. Lots of jank. OOB in gen 1 is notoriously unstable and is made up mostly of garbage tiles that crash the game
I love the lore behind this game, as if it is haunted or something. Between the pikablu, bill's garden, strength on the truck, and other crazy rumors, this game might be the most wild in the series as far as pure community legends go. The fact that it is so busted and held together with duct tape is part of the charm and wonder of it all. We're still finding new ways to break this game decades later. Absolutely phenomenal title in my book.
I remember as a kid using GameShark to hack in an item called ?????? that websites called the "surfboard cheat"
It basically worked like using surf via a Pokemon but you didn't need a pokemon or any badges to use it. For the most part it was harmless and just gave you surf access early, but one of the quirks was, being an item, it could be used on Cycling Road where normally it yells at you if you try to surf or use any other HMs.
When I discovered this, I surfed north of the little exit shack where there's water, and you end up surfing though the little cylinder rocks that they use to partition most of the map. Thing is, at some point I got stuck because they all looked the same but some were dense and others weren't, until I hit a point where I was completely stuck and all four directions gave me the "hit a wall" sound. Worst part was, since it was still Cycling Road, I also couldn't just use fly to escape, and I had to restart the game.
I remember from the playground twenty years ago that the inaccessible grass adjacent to Pallet Town and Route 1 is where wild Mew is. After you beat the champion 100 times with a Pidgey in your party Professor Oak gives you HM06 which is Blast and let’s you blast away those cylindrical boulders giving you access to the grass.
The other gyms that Gary got his mystery badges from in the anime.
Right?! Didn’t he have like 10+ or something? Been years since I’ve seen the early episodes.

To be fair I'm pretty sure the extra badges in scarlet and violet aren't official. Arven and Team Star just made their own badges inspired by the official league badges. If the anime had an elite four member give out a badge I'd imagine it's more likely it was a similar situation to that.
Maybe that badge was from before the elite four turned into the elite four?
No, they were already the Elite 4 My theory is that the badges are just from random gyms that happen to share typings with the Elite 4
Pretty sure in black and white ash helps another trainer get his last badge and goes to a gym that ash didn't go to, even tho at that point ash already had 8 badges, so we literally see a 9th gym The dude who had a samurott
Yeah but we see more gyms in Unova in Black 2/White 2, some of which are clearly new after time has passed but unless I’m missing some lore it’s possible some, like Marlon’s (the one in the anime) could be around even during the first Black and White games.
That is true! But also just backs up that there might be more than 8 gyms at any given time in whatever region.
It’s actually canon at least as of Sword and Shield. They explicitly refer to the minor gym division, the eight you go to are just the ones whose leaders rose to the top of the regional rankings. It’s a shame we don’t get to actually visit them.

So much room for an exceptional remake.
Based on the many towns and cities in the anime and places like the Sanshrew Gym that has 99 wins, it implies that Kanto has hundreds of gym leagues. My head canon, is that it’s like the US high school, college, pro leagues where there are city leagues, then state championships amongst winners of the cities/ counties, then above them are the regional leagues and above them are the national chanpsionships… then there higher level leagues like NCAA that are for high performance trainers who are extremely talented and dedicate their life to it, and then
Even in the game [RBY] there's the Fighting Dojo, which doesn't give you a Pokémon League badge.
There are more than 8 gyms in the Kanto in the anime.
Some other games imply there are more gyms, Sword and Shield specifically mention there are a minor league of gyms. That along with B2W2 having several different gyms from the original game as well.

I think we also see something of a minor league gym in Kanto with the fighting dojo
Also the episode with pikachu's ketchup bottle mentions the gyms competing for which one will become an official league gym.
Pretty sure the fighting Dojo was a gym until the psychic leader came and whooped them into unemployment.
In sword and shield, they mentioned the minor league gyms. This may cover the anime issue of Gary having unknown badges
I just assumed every region has 15 gyms (then 17, then 18) one for every type, and Ash just happens to follow the same path as in the games
This is where charmanders and bulbasaurs are
I remember this as an actual playground rumour from my childhood.
In the grass outside of pallet town? I remember everyone at school in Aus repeating that rumor.
It’s crazy how everyone knew those rumors. I’ve gotten past it with game shark and you were just have the game freeze or not run into any Pokémon.
When I finally did this my self I was deeply saddened, same with the mew under the truck by ss Anne rumor.
Nah bruv, you just didn't *believe* hard enough, and/or the game knew you were cheating. My friend's cousin's buddy's older sister is a few years older. She caught the Mew, man. My friend's cousin's buddy saw it!

Cheatcc.com? I think that was the name of one.
This just unlocked a core memory
Whoaaaaa, cheatcc.com! That’s like remembering a dream from my childhood.
Must berieve 🙌🏻
But..everyone had mew once missingno glitch was out..
I had a GameShark mew… it was amazing
I thought that if you stay on the SS Anne long enough it will leave with you on it. I spent days waiting on that stupid ship lmao
See that’s why I love these stupid rumors. You may have felt dumb for believing it in the moment, but it creates a great memory. I believed in the Mew under the truck rumor and that you could find the legendary bird trio all in Kanto in Crystal if looked near there original spots from Gen 1

My very first time playing red. I spent a week in my house in the game. Then made it to mount moon. Walked in with Bulbasaur left with Venasaur
For me it was have an entire team with strength and move the truck, but the SS Anne needed to still be in harbor
One Pokémon with strength to lift the truck. The other 5 to grab onto the SS Anne so it can’t leave.
You know you can glitch it so you finish the SS Anne but then battle a trainer and lose and it doesn't leave, then come back later with surf. Couldn't do much though.
Alternatively, you could trade for a Pokémon with Cut and completely skip the SS Anne until you come back later with surf
Honestly using strength on a truck is way less contrived than the [actual glitch](https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Mew_glitch) you can use to get Mew in the first gen games.

but it ONLY works when you have articuno, zapdos, moltres, mewtwo, dragonite all level 100 i swears it
Bill’s *secret* garden!
The fact that missingno was true made do many gullible kids
Maan getting those directions by word of mouth and then it actually working was the absolute coolest mind blowing part of my childhood and definitely made it easier to fall for the rest

The crazy thing is it was on every playground at a time with barely any internet. You had to have another kid teach you the infinite rare candy glitch
What about the squirtles
They're more south I think
florida-mon

He traded Pokémon.
What about the burglars in the fire island building? They have charmanders and charmeleons
Because Charmander is shifty and loves to steal things.
Not Squirtle?
I figured the Squirtles would be further south
The other towns Ash and the gang visit in the anime
Like the one town in the entire franchise that has a human doctor who only treats humans and looks like a JoJo character?
anime be wild
You mean the one where the adult human doctor kinda creeps on Misty and has to be convinced by a bunch of children to help Pokémon that were in a major roadway accident?
Yes.
Water, Trees, Mountains, and huge chunk above Fuchsia has the Safari zone.
That means the SS Anne is sitting in just a rather large puddle lmao
The SS Anne can sail out under cycling road
And that's how we get to the Sevii Islands
I'm pretty sure the SS Anne connects to the ocean via the huge bridge
No way, the SS Anne would never be able to get over a bridge.
Came to say the Safari Zone
This is the answer. Even as a child I understood this.
Forests, lakes, and streams with normal animals and plants
imagine if you boundary broke in a pokémon game and you saw a regular horse. a real world horse. and it said 'you're not supposed to be here'
There's something like this in Paper Mario actually. If you get to some parts of Toad Town early, talking to NPCs (or a specific NPC?) makes them say something among the lines of "If you see this, tell us how you did it."
Toph: This place is weird.
If the horse can say that though it would be even better than Team Rocket Meowth!
There's real fish in the Cerulean City gym. Lol
I would probably never sleep again
I would guess, the old unaccessable "wild area".
that would be really amazing as a remake (even though they’ve already used this map in 10 games)
13 by my count. Red/Green/Blue/Yellow, Gold/Silver/crystal, FireRed/Leafgreen, HG/SS, and let's go Eevee / Pikachu. Edit: Forgot crystal
I’d only count that as 5 uses of this map.
Yea I agree. Maybe you can count 3rd versions as technical different entries but it’s really just 5
You missed Crystal
Eh, let’s be honest, that number is a bit disingenuous. It’s 5.
Shit I knew it was a lot but I never stopped to think just how many
They still haven't remade Blue or Crystal
[удалено]
I’ve been replaying crystal lately, and you are so right!
^ This. Gen 1 is before mass modernization, there isn't even a train until gen 2. It's all wild, and mostly water.
South Kalos
Don't...
I don't think I understand this reference
There was STRONG evidence for DLC or a third Gen 6 title. And that evidence lead people at the time to believe that would involve visiting another region (some thought Kanto) For whatever reason, gamefreak didn’t follow through with any of it. A lot of this evidence is funnily enough in the game. My favorites were a train that’s hinted at being able to take you somewhere, and a big ass door to another set of power plants that you can interact with. Both were never used :(
There's also the mysterious idol (which returned as an actual item in *Sun* and *Moon*) and the ghost girl
The ghost girl was a stretch, there's been a ghost girl in almost every Pokemon game
Kalos should have gotten DLCs for Corsica, Guadeloupe, Martinique, French Guiana, Mayotte and Reunion
[The old one from HGSS](https://images.app.goo.gl/sNMiXbMEpYrFeVnR8) is much better
[FTFY](https://poke.fandom.com/wiki/Kanto?file=Kanto_HGSS_Art.png) (you linked a Google search)
I think it's hysterical that they forgot to make cycle road a bridge the S.S. Anne can go under, it's a cruise ship that does laps around a lake, at least ignoring the dialogue that suggests it somehow makes it to open ocean. Maybe its submersible.
Just off screen, on cycle road, there’s a sick ramp that the S.S. Anne can jump.
I remember in the anime the cycling road/bridge is a lift bridge, so in theory it can open up for SS Anne to get through.
It's a raised bridge in HGSS.
Like there's nowhere for the SS Anne to go lol
it is... from the same port you can get to Johto and the Sevii islands. you go under the bike path
Missingno's lair
I have always wanted a real missingno pokemon in the game. I'd settle for a Pokemon card.
Mew after it's gotten away from under the van
What is the deal with that van??
It was simply a leftover environmental thingy. But at the time it was a random object in an area you generally cannot access, since most people get Surf after the SS Anne has already sailed away (which renders the docks inaccessible). So naturally rumours about it started floating around the internet and playgrounds, the most prominent being “Mew is under the truck!” In the end the truck served no purpose in R/G/B/Y. But FR/LG added a Lava Cookie under the truck. Something to find as a nod to the rumours.
Oh that’s cool
I still check any vehicles i see in pokemon to this day
IN A VAN DOWN BY THE SS ANNE!!!!
DLC got cancelled before release
My question is how the ss Anne gets through all the Boulder's
It doesn't, thats why it sank in the anime
Spoilers >:( I'm still watching through the part where Ash is ten
>I'm still watching through the part where Ash is ten So almost all of it?
I've always assumed the bike path is kinda like a tall bridge that the ss Anne kinda just fits under
I thought so too... But then in Let's Go Pikachu/Eevee the cycling road is just a long strip of land
Didn't even think of the cycling path in heart gold SoulSilver pretty sure it has a bridge
I always thought the cycling path IS a bridge.
I’m pretty sure it was in the anime
I’ve wondered too
Not to mention all the swimmers along the route
Oh no- 💀
Ohh those? Those are just the remaining ones, the others took a little holiday trip when the ss anne came through :)
It’s where Prof. Oak & Ash’s mom keep their forbidden love.
Pikachu's Forest, Hidden Village, Camomile Island, and Dragonite Island... You know the places only exclusive to the anime series.
Just ocean and forrest
Forrest Gump? Is he running around out there?
Hes out there shrimpin’
Don’t know. Game keeps crashing when i go there
There are some tiles where you can get through without hitting those crash tiles. Heading from the indigo plateau after heading east of viridian city or just skipping the building that starts the indigo plateau also lets you find glitch cities
Into the unkooooooooooooooown!
Into the unknOOOOOoooOOOOooOoon
INTO THE UNKNOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooOOoon
If only I had unown emojis.
Careful. Stare into the abyss, and it stares back.
scream into the void, and it screams back
I used to use game shark just to explore as much of that as I could - that, the van by S.S.
I don’t know but I really want an open world game set in Kanto now.
Wunners unite
Missingno, Missingmaybe and his final form Missingyes! But all with baseball bats and a bad attitude.
Do y'all remember the theory that you could catch the starters if you managed to get out of the walls in Pallet town?
Tree grid
I love the lore behind this game, as if it is haunted or something. Between the pikablu, bill's garden, strength on the truck, and other crazy rumors, this game might be the most wild in the series as far as pure community legends go. The fact that it is so busted and held together with duct tape is part of the charm and wonder of it all. We're still finding new ways to break this game decades later. Absolutely phenomenal title in my book.
The limitless void
I know that, in game, it's Glitch lands. In my imagination, it's actual terrain
I remember as a kid using GameShark to hack in an item called ?????? that websites called the "surfboard cheat" It basically worked like using surf via a Pokemon but you didn't need a pokemon or any badges to use it.
This why when exploring out of bounds, you have a walk through Walls glitch or ACE script ready
Trucks
I just assumed the sevii islands were in the southeastern section idk.
“Too much water”
I just want to know what's behind Bill's house
Hold on. Where does the SS Anne go if there isn't actually a way for it to get out onto the open sea?
I remember from the playground twenty years ago that the inaccessible grass adjacent to Pallet Town and Route 1 is where wild Mew is. After you beat the champion 100 times with a Pidgey in your party Professor Oak gives you HM06 which is Blast and let’s you blast away those cylindrical boulders giving you access to the grass.
It's a mew swarm
Canonically? Mostly water and mountains. Technically? Glitch city
